Five Star Bar

The service was great. The bartender was attentive. I wish my wings were a lil saucier but overall the wings were okay. I appreciated the thickness and flavor of the ranch and blue cheese. Sunday morning/afternoon time was a very lively environment. I loved the look of the bar but the bathroom that day needed some upkeep. I will most likely be giving this bar another chance and I will try more of the food.

Dale was the type of bartender that had the charisma and appeal of captain Jack sparrow. No but actually we came in as strangers and left feeling like we’d had a Saturday afternoon very well spent. His service was great, but more importantly his personality was like being at a comedy show. You should have this guy working all the time!! Thanks for a great afternoon.

Great spot for a happy hour (M-F until 6pm). Had some good cocktails, wings and cheesy garlic bread as well.

We had Megan as our server and she was awesome! Very attentive to our needs and had a great personality! Got wings and cheese curds which were both delivered hot and were tasty! Highly recommend this bar. Prices are not bad!

The interior of this place is real classy. Reminds me of 1920s themed spot a little. Glad they’re back open. And this double burger was delicious and just the right amount of fries. Friendly staff and bright windows makes for a great spot.

Went here on a Saturday night after Beauty Bar had closed unexpectedly A lovely surprise as we got a nice private room, along with some good drinks, pretty good pizza and some great vibes! Will come here again!

I came for drinks, pool, ski ball, & dive bar vibes! The place was great for a group of 8 in the back. We got a pitcher of beer & was able to hang out & enjoy the space. It felt like a mix of gentrified dive bar / speakeasy with how well decorated the place was with lights & overall interior design. We got there just in time to claim whatever spot & enjoy 2 games of pool. Definitely a nice spot to catch up with friends!

Cool vibe but sat at an empty bar for so long and the bartender was texting the whole time instead of tending to any customers. Left without even a beer. Maybe don't stop in after 9 pm?

Located near Ashland and Chicago Avenue, this bar has a special Elvis pop up. I love the Elvis music. The specialty fried peanut butter raspberry sandwich with fries for $15 sounded interesting. The fried pickles were priced at $9. There was an Elvis book, a guitar, a Love Me Tender sign, and southwest motif as decorations.

The pizza and cheese bread was so good! I'm from Detroit and loved the Detroit style pizza. Service was also prompt and we loved the big room in back for our large group of friends who met up in Chicago from all over the US!

Ambiance: cozy but also trendy interior - the furniture and finishing are really interesting - the wood paneling on the walls by the booths reach up to the light fixtures in the ceiling and it's a really cool look. Also really funky chairs for the high tops. Surprisingly cool design for what feels like a very chill bar. Food: we ordered the Brussel sprouts salad and the sausage and giardinera pizza. Salad was awesome - super thinly sliced brussels, tons of toppings - best topping to salad ratio I've had in a while and generous with the dressing as well. Fair warning, it didn't feel like the healthiest salad but I'm 100% ok with that. The deep dish pizza was great - sausage and giardinera is a match made in heaven - it always is. Good amount of sauce - I feel like most Detroit style I've had has the sauce on top but there is in fact sauce under the cheese - really cheesy and super crispy crust. All in all - the flavors and textures were on point but I think between the oily giardinera and the tons of cheese it ends up being a really greasy bite - so be warned. Service: was pretty good but was hard to flag down our server at the end of the night to get a box - she also asked us to pay when we paid online already - it wasn't a big deal at all but just surprising that these small hiccups happened bc it wasn't super busy

Cool space with some games in the back and fun booths for big groups. We stopped in over Halloween Weekend and I'm not really sure why it wasn't busier! There were places nearby with super long lines, but that made this experience all the more better because we didn't have to wait to get in on a cold night. The drinks were a little more expensive than you'd hope, but they tasted good. The service wasn't great. We had to stand at the bar for a while and then it took quite some time to get our bill when we were done, but it was great to be indoors in a cool little space like this one and everybody was pretty nice. Great little strip for going out and we had a nice time!

Chill Bar with Games and good food! However, the fees are insane. Why not increase prices instead of having the customer feel guilty about the staff fee.

This place was always around the corner from my apartment and I always wanted to come in but never had the time with my busy work/life schedule but today Stoped in after my fiancé left me at the altar so and Oder the a drink called a screwdriver and a sip of it and loved it so I ordered a lot more and let's just say I woke up the next morning not knowing where I was or who I was but never the less fun time and great atmosphere from what I can remember will definitely come back

Second time here. First time geiing fiid. Much better than expected. Wish i atet here last time!! Jalapeño poppers and Tavern pizza was fire!! Good cocktails with great service. Skee ball in the back too!!! Definitely coming back with friends.

Awful service from the staff try to finesse my check bartending was rude and wrote their own tip on my check which is illegal

Well Five Star Bar did not live up to its name this time. Stopped in for a bit to eat, and waiting absolutely forever for a server. Then even with a server, had to flag him down to order. Food was nothing extravagant for the wait.

If your Latino DO NOT go there. Went on a Sunday for Sunday Groove and the white bartenders were so fucking rude and racist. They seemed bothered and irritated because it was all Latinos there. Damn at least fake it to get good tips. Never will I give that place my business.

Pizza was burnt. I thought maybe it would be tolerable and tried to eat a piece, but it wasn't good. Waste of money.

Well, I was reading a few yelp reviews I live right down the street so I decided to stop in and have a beer and it was actually pretty good. The music is a little heavy though lol I have passed by prior and it seems like on the weekend it's pretty rockin lol Bartenders are cool

I got here at 10:30 on a Friday night and the bartenders were hammered when I got here. The female bartender was restocking straws and drink stirrers and touched her shoes and hair several times during the process. She also dropped all the straws, then picked something out of her teeth, then proceeded to pick up the straws and put them in the straw holder without washing her hands. The female bartender with long straight hair, glasses, and a maroon Carhartt beanie has been touching her hair and putting her hair in her mouth the entire time I've been here, and she has not washed her hands once in more than two hours. I have not seen any of the bartenders wash their hands since I've been here, but I've seen both bartenders take at least 3 shots. The food here is great, but the bartenders are always so drunk that the service sucks. Food orders were forgotten and we had to remind them. It's not that hard to not get drunk while you're at work. These bartenders are just bad at their jobs.

Had the buffalo chicken wings and the first 3 wings tasted okay but the remaining had a sweet taste way different from the first ones. I don't know if the cook perhaps gave me half buffalo and half other flavor ? It ruined my appetite I only eat buffalo flavored wings, probably would go back for a drink & other food option.

5 stars for Five star bar! They are checking COVID-19 vaccination cards or negative tests to get in as an FYI. We ordered the spicy margaritas, buffalo cauliflower and chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream. The margaritas were great! The chocolate chip cookie was hot and tasted like a pillow of deliciousness with a hint of sea salt...so good. My husband is normally a wings only kind of guy but loved the cauliflower just as much as I did. So happy we got an opportunity to check this place out and can't wait to come back and try the Detroit style pizza. There are TVs but for some reason they were not able to change the channel so we couldn't watch sports but I'm sure that will get figured out soon.

Excellent Detroit style pizza, interesting appetizers. I've only ordered out, but I appreciate that they closed down when one staff member tested positive for COVID to make sure everyone got tested and keep lol their patrons safe. There are a lot of pizza places in my neighborhood, but for the price and quality, this is my go to from now on.

I've tried with this place for awhile now. I used to go to the old five star regularly and have gone to this new version a few times. Almost every time I have gone there the bartenders are in the corner cackling/taking too way many shots and avoiding my empty drink and dirty dishes for way too long. They used to have a few decent and attentive bartenders but they've obviously moved on. I'd avoid sitting near the end of the bar towards the bathrooms if you don't want to hear the restaurants gossip. The old five star wasn't the best and this is just wannabe boujiee paint job over the last iteration. At least the old five star had a pool table (don't ask them about the pool table) haha. Do yourself a favor and just order the detroit style pizza for pickup. Oh and those jalapeno poppers.

One of the most disappointing re opens in the area. What was once a solid brunch, Wednesday wing, local spot, etc. Turned into another bar with an overpriced menu without any of the nuance that made it good in the first place. Gave it a shot, wish the old owners and workers were still around. Rest in peace the real five star. Overall 2.5 stars, I'll round up

This was the first bar/restaurant my husband and I found when we arrived from our move to Chicago from California. It was a huge deal as we were super excited to explore our new neighborhood and learn all the new places we would decide to become regulars at. Five Star was the first place we found that immediately looked super chill, with a great vibe, and would have fun live music and acts on late nights. What we discovered was that this place has the BEST CHEESEBURGER SLIDERS and for super cheap!!! that we ever have had in our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, plus the drinks are strong and made to order. I have also ordered UBER EATS from here with the chicken tenders and fries with their own honey mustard is soooooo good (skip the ranch, seriously it is worth it!). Definitely a fun place. They gave me a wall/fridge magnet, and they have barbies with tons of BDM fun goin on so beware! ha.

Five Star Bar has that classic Chicago vibe. Roomy booths fit with dark, pinned leather, dim lighting, a dark wood high-bar. Unlike most Chicago restaurants/bars, Five Star also has an open and spacious floor and private room in the corner for friends to test their dance moves on the pole. Beyond the ambiance, Five Star, by far, has the best burger I have ever had in my life and great selection of beer. The burger was seasoned, savory and beautifully salted, dressed to perfection.

They just reopened and it's amazing! The food is very good. They have great Detroit Style pizza. It is so much more clean and the people are friendly.

Came here with a few friends after peak hours as my friend's birthday was dying down. Staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Most of our group left pretty early on but my friend and I ended up staying nearly til close. They didn't rush us or anything. I'd definitely come back because the vibe was good and staff were great.

Used to come here a lot for wing night until they up the price on the wings. Pretty decent wings for a decent price. Very limited seating on a busy night. It's a first come first serve basis. Wherever you find a seat, definitely run to it because you won't find one for awhile. Parking is pretty much a nightmare. It's on a busy street so it is rough to find a spot sometimes. The front is meter. We always try to look for free parking by the park and just walk a few blocks down. What I love the most is the freaking pull pork nachos. This is hands down the best creation ever! It comes with loaded things like sauce and whatnot, super tasty.

Not too loud for music so a great place to hangout and chat. We just dropped by for a late night beer and got here at 11.30pm. They took our order of the cheese curds and omg that with honey mustard like dipping sauce was the bomb!!!! best I have ever had!!! Having said that the pretzel with the beer cheese ... disappointed hence took a star out. The cheese was real sharp chedder thick cheese just not right!

Yikes on the Health Code "pass with restrictions". I always had a stomach ache after eating here. I wonder if it's because of lack of refrigeration and cleanliness? I think I'll pass on this place going forward.

Overall: A great semi-dive bar with lots of good drink selections. A great addition to the neighborhood. The good: Great beer and drink selection with a good variety of specials. They have some quality taps on hand. They also have a good food menu compared to other bars. I'm a big fan of the unique vibe they have, a mix between biker/dive/rocknroll and not too heavy on any of them. Oh, and a pool table! Good music too! The not-so-good: Not much in terms of watching sports. Not a ton of TVs and the ones that do may not be playing any sports. That's about it really, just not a 5 star place, which is hard to do.

The space and food was perfect for a private baby shower. The staff was very attentive and helpful. They even had a custom mocktail setup with the bar, which was really special for the mom to be! I'd definitely host another event here and order the curds, salads, pizza and chicken tender

This place used to be 5 stars. But now there are no more tater tot's. So it's four stars.

So...having patronized this establishment numerous times for anything from motorcycle nights to just family dinners I thought it was time to check out its post-pandemic reformation. Its safe to say that their PPP money did not in fact go toward hiring or training competent staff. Upon being seated at a booth we waited easily 15 minutes before finally being attended to by a "server". I'm cautious to grace her with the title so pardon the quotation marks. We started with a Sprite and 2 Old Fashions which took about 10 minutes to receive. Even then it was another 10 minutes and reminder to obtain the Sprite. When we finally caught our "server" again in passing and told her we were ready to order food she patted herself down as to seem off guard with our left field request. We ordered 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich (no modifiers mind you). While we waited the 30 minutes for these sandwiches I hoped to get another passing glimpse of our elusive "server" but alas this was not to happen. I approached her at the server station (seemingly safe place to ensure the order goes in safely) and asked for 2 Daisy Cutters. Seemed a safe bet. And proceeded back to our booth to wait. Not to be clear, there are 5 tables in the bar she has to juggle. The remainder of the patrons are sitting at the bar. A couple walk in and sit in the booth directly in front of us and order a New Castle. After a short wait the "server" arrives with both a New Castle and A Guinness. There was a short confusing exchange that ended with the couple saying it's fine just leave it. There was a discussion between the other two individuals who initially intended to eat but based on their initial experience cut their losses and ended their experience. This would not get them out any sooner than us however as the "server" never came back to check on either of our tables. Our food finally came out via kitchen staff and mediocrity would be a compliment. The gentleman from the other booth and myself both went up to pay our tabs and end this nightmare at which time she was handed a $100 bill for his tab to which she received change, placed it in her pants pocket and retreated to the bathroom where she remained for 10 minutes until we asked a bartender what was going on. Once emerged from the bathroom she asked how she could help each of us to which the other patron said, "I gave you a hundred dollar bill!". Her response was, "I don't have any money.", and emptied out her pockets to find the rolled up change. She then slowly made here way back to the server station in bewilderment asking several times, "where were you sitting again?". In the end other staff were finally involved and we got out with only a lingering bad experience and a hope that this was some sort of hidden camera reality show. DON'T DO IT!

I went to Five Star on Saturday night with friends and was pretty surprised they had 5 Rabbit's 5 Lizard on draft and for just $6 for a glass. I saw this as a great deal and drank a couple. My friends had never had anything from 5 Rabbit before so I explained a bit about the brewery to them and I think they appreciated it a bit more. :) 5 Rabbit is my absolute favorite brewery in the whole wide world. Five Star has a pretty good mix of craft brews and domestic usuals. I've been to Five Star a few times before and always enjoyed the chill atmosphere however never have been big on their super loud music choices. It's still a pretty fair mix of hipsters, bros, yuppies, etc. Our server was great and we had a lovely time guzzling down brews.

The new owners .. this food is bland menu completely changed and the pool table is gone .. I miss the old five star .. :(

I miss the old five star. Used to come here every Wednesday for wing night .50 wings and tecate beer . Now it's overpriced . Gotta find a new wing spot

I live near Five Star and it's definitely one of my go-to's! They have a good patio in the summer and a great vide inside. Nice beer and whiskey selection and helpful bartenders. I also love their bar food!! There are some must have's, in my opinion... the pretzel, cheese curds and chip and dip trio are fantastic!! I love the turkey burger, it's house made! Can't go wrong here and they have great specials!

We just wanted a quick Sunday cocktail.drink....grabbed a couple margaritas (The watermelon jalapeño was great)... and sone beers. Service was great! Ate outside and enjoyed the perfect weather. We ended up eating the corn dogs, tots, and Detroit style pizza (pesto with Prosciutto)...all super yummy!

Felt rushed the whole time, server didn't even give me a minute to look over the drink menu before coming over again to ask if I was ready so I randomly picked the highball cocktail and it was terrible! I could not finish the drink, did not even drink half of it, it tasted so watered down and has to be the worst drink I've ever had. I also gad the Taylor Swiss burger and it made up for the drink.

Super rad joint. Definitely a neighborhood spot, but they certainly welcomed my n00b ass into the mix. The fried pickles were homemade and on point (with the normal pinkish hot mayo dipping sauce, but on the hotter side) and the brand new vegetarian poutine was unlike any poutine I've had in Canada. But that's ok because it was still delicious with it's smokey BBQ fake meat and dense cheese. I will definitely come back. Not only for the great food, but for the fantastic beer selection and service!

Had my daughter in laws wedding shower here and they were wonderful. Very accommodating, the food was fabulous and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had several appetizers and they were all very good. But the pizza was outstanding!!! We are actually having this pizza for the rehearsal dinner. Five star bar gets 5 stars from me. Looking forward to going back soon.

Five Star is open again. Check it out. Great refresh in Front of house. Drink menu is great, beers on draft are great as well. Had order of cheese curds and small pepperoni pizza. Both were excellent. Glad Five Star is open again, will be back soon.

Location: awesome. Parking: Not so great (but it's the city so STFU) Food: super good. They always have specials going on, and, if you have a motorcycle, make sure to swing by on Mondays to partake in the special events going on :)

Came here to watch a football game-it's not really a sports bar vibe but it was near my friends' apartment so we just decided to go for it. The food was good, I had the cheese curds and everyone else enjoyed theirs as well. We went on a Sunday night so they had a burger special that was pretty good, and the brussel sprouts were pretty darn good (coming from someone who's not a huge fan). The server was friendly and attentive, even though we sat there for an entire game. The prices seemed pretty reasonable as well. They didn't turn the sound on for the game (but again, they don't bill themselves as a sports bar, so I can't really fault them too much), and there's a definite hipster vibe (but hey, it's the Wicker Park area). The place got much busier as the evening went on, which I found odd for a Sunday night. Overall, it was good food for good prices. I'd go back just for a drink/meal, just maybe not for a Sunday night sporting event.

I had passed this place a few times, and the sign looked cool. Judging a restaurant by the sign or a book by the cover is always a good move, so my boyfriend and I stopped by for drinks and apps on a Friday night. The weather was a little chilly, but the aggressive punk rock music encouraged us to sit outside. The service was fine, the table was fine. We shared nachos and a salad, and they were also fine. The one highlight was a super fizzy whiskey cocktail on draft for $5. If you're stopping by, definitely try one of those!

I have been here a few times and have had zero disappointments. The pizza is amazing! The buffalo cauliflower may be the best I have had and highly recommend it. Recently hosted an event here and the kitchen and bar staff worked closely with us to ensure a great event!

Best..wings..ever! Now at 50cents a pop on Wednesdays, they're still worth it. I love em because they remain crunchy even after they're tossed in the buffalo sauce, not that microwaved soggy crap. The place itself seems to have died down crowd wise over the years, I guess the craze is over. Still a good spot to catch a game & grab a bite.

Had a burger. It was nothing special. What was annoying is that I ordered a drink (gimlet), with a particular ingredient (Roses Lime Juice). What I got was a complex concoction that tasted more like lemonade. When I asked for the drink with Roses, the bartender than says they don't carry it, and she made her own special blend. That's great, but I know what I like, and what I want. I don't need a "mixologist" trying to re-create a classic. If you don't have an ingredient, just let me know, and we can save a lot of time and effort.
