Flair - Review - 2nd Arr. - Lyon - The Infatuation

"Parsnip prepared three ways hardly sounds like a journey to the vegetable version of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory—but pureed, roasted, and baked into a savory cake is the golden ticket at this French-Japanese fusion spot with top-notch service. Other unusual combinations include pan-seared foie gras with bamboo and tofu sauce, and octopus tentacles grilled in ponzu. Even though the plain décor feels a bit like a chain hotel conference room, it's a great option for the value and quality of the €27, three-course set lunch menu (dinner is €42). The low ceilings are just high enough to make the place feel intimate instead of claustrophobic." - Anna Richards

We visited here for dinner. The range of food was absolutely delightful! Between myself and my partner, we tried almost every dish that was available and cannot fault a single one. Definitely recommend for a beautiful combination of the best of Japanese and French Cuisine. The atmosphere was lovely and staff too.

This is a French/Japanese fusion fine dining. We had a 3 course menu which seemed to be all that was available. You had a choice of 2 or 3 options for each course. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We had the wine pairing which was great.

Delicious menus, well presented with generous portions. The atmosphere was OK. We ordered Terrine de foie grass, confit trout, slow cooked turbot, roasted duck breast. As dessert we had rhubarb, lemon and roku gin and tonka, hazelnuts and buckwheat. Good service.

Amazing! Best value for the taste, presentation and flavors! Flair offers a very unique way of fusing French and Japanese flavors on a plate! My partner and I was very impressed. We ordered the lunch menu of 3 courses for $25EUR. For what tastes and looks like food at its finest....Flair is truly exceptional in offering people food at its best without charging a premium. Their passion in this truly shows! Will definitely come back! Thank you!

A perfect score for taste, service and great value for money! Every single dish was spot on and well presented to the next level. If this cozy restaurant keeps doing like this... I'm sure they'll get a star soon or at least a Michelin guided one :) Thumbs up!

I don't really know how to start. The food was good, but I have a small mention. I would have liked the tuna to have a little taste compared to the sauces and vegetables that were on the plate. I don't think it's normal for the main ingredient to be bland. Chef! the tuna meat should also have a little taste: salty would be ideal or sour or bitter or sweet, but it should have a little taste. I ordered a bottle of red wine. It was served at 14 - 16 gr. At 50 euros per bottle, I think it's worth it. There is a continuous noise in the restaurant, everyone is talking loudly, you hear all the work problems of the neighbors, the bad jokes told by another neighbor from the other table. Maybe muted music would be more appropriate.

We went with the family and I can just recommend that restaurant. The concept is mixing Asian flavours with French one. The result is amazing and the price for value is incredible. You choose between 3 types of menus (the difference being the number of starter or main you can choose). The base menu was composed of a choice of 4 starter 2 main (fish, meat) and 2 dessert. We went for: - pan fried duck “fois gras” with a Bao - veal - chocolate dessert All was super yummy and we had extra plate in between: a welcome amuse-bouche, pre-starter and an after dessert cake. Overall we definitely recommend that restaurant. Waitresses was also super friendly and they gave us really good advice on the wine pairings

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a friend's recommendation for dinner. This restaurant does a french-japanese fusion and their menu is always rotating. The service is impeccable - they give you two free "gifts" to start with. I had a cauliflower-like milk drink that was incredibly freshing, as well as a small octopus rice. The main course was foie gras with sichuan peppers (amazing combination - the best foie gras i had in france), pan fried turbot with green beans (very fresh, the seasoning is light to highlight the freshness of the fish), and the olive oil ice cream with blueberry and chocolate cake. The dessert was my least favorite, as I could barely taste the olive oil in the ice cream and the chocolate was nothing special, but the highlight of the meal was the main course which was executed perfectly!

Yelp
Refined French-Japanese fusion cuisine in an elegant and tranquil setting. Service was welcoming and unobtrusive, very attentive. We were served 2 amuse-bouches, the first one being a puree of parsnips and the second a smooth gelatin reduction topped with a dice of octopus and ginger. Both were subtle, creamy, and delicious. I had an appetizer of pan-seared foie gras nestled on a bed of slivered cauliflower and baked parmesan chips, drizzled with a blueberry sauce; it was warm, unctuous, and just a hint of sweetness and sourness from the blueberry to cut the richness. This was followed by a roasted slab of sea bass on a bed of pureed broccoli, accompanied with wild rice and mushrooms - delicate and mild, very autumnal. For dessert, I had their pavlova with poached plum slices, pistachios, whipped cream, and plum sorbet - a nicely crisp meringue contrasting with the gently melting sorbet, not overly sweet. Went great with coffee. The dinner menu is somewhat limited in choices, however, and i'm guessing that it's to focus on bringing out the utmost of the flavors and ingredients. It does accomplish this but I would advise those with large appetites to order two entrees (which is not a problem for this establishment) as one will probably not be enough.

Yelp
Place is to be found at the side streets of Perrache which make parking easy nearby. First aspect is very positive with abstract (Japanese) design as well as open ( nothing to hide ) kitchen. Its a one menu to choose from restaurant which makes it a bit limited, especially when you bring kids along. Unfortunately it started with a bit of a messy wine selection as they served first bottle from wrong year and second alternative choice not available :-( Anyhow food was very well prepared , with the typical french/japanese finesse and trends. Also portions are to keep you fit. Had raviolis with crevettes and jus and after fish of the day with artichaut sauce. ...
