Flame Persian Cuisine

Flame is the greatest Persian restaurant. The food is delicious the kabob’s sizzling. Their bread is out of the world. The Baba Gnomish is amazing. We were a large party and had our video displayed all over the video screens of the restaurant. The service and food outstanding. Top notch.

While the experience started off on a positive note with the fresh bread baked in a clay oven, which was absolutely delightful and paired well with the served butter, unfortunately, the main part of the meal left much to be desired. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, earning a solid 5 stars for customer service. However, the disappointment arose when we ordered the Koobideh Kabob, specifically requesting it to be well-done. Regrettably, the kabob we received was still undercooked and raw in parts. The offer to prepare a fresh one was appreciated, but by that point, our appetite had been dampened, and we chose to leave the restaurant. It's evident that the restaurant takes pride in their fresh bread and the attention provided by their staff, which are certainly commendable aspects. But when it comes to the core of the dining experience – the food – the experience fell short due to the uncooked kabob. While I'd gladly give a 5-star rating to their customer service, the food quality led me to a 2-star rating overall.

**A Disappointing Experience** I recently dined at Flame Restaurant and had one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. From the moment I arrived, things began to go downhill, starting with the food quality. The dishes we ordered were not up to standard; the taste was bland, and the presentation left much to be desired. However, the real shock came when I found an elastic band in my food. This is completely unacceptable in any dining establishment, and it raises serious concerns about the kitchen's cleanliness and food safety standards. I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff. Instead of addressing the issue with the professionalism and care one would expect, the staff member I spoke to was incredibly rude and dismissive. He showed no concern for the problem and made no effort to rectify the situation. This level of customer service is entirely unacceptable. To make matters worse, later that evening, I received a call from the owner of the restaurant. I expected an apology or some form of acknowledgment of the incident. Instead, the owner told me that he did not see a problem because I had not been charged for the food. This response was shocking and disappointing, showing a complete lack of regard for customer satisfaction and safety. In conclusion, I would not recommend Flame Restaurant to anyone. The combination of poor food quality, a disturbing lack of hygiene, rude staff, and an owner who does not seem to care about customer experience makes this a place to avoid. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary changes to improve their standards.

Every time I visit Westwood I go to Shamshiri Grill. This time I decided to try Sholeh and I got very disappointed. I ordered Tahdig with 2 stews (ghormeh sabzi and gheymeh bademjoon). Stews were very typical not something special. Tahdig was very hard and even the stew didn’t help. I also ordered koobideh kabob, it was an average to below average koobideh. I also had kashko bademjoon & salad shirazi. These two stars go to shirazi salad that I really enjoyed. Next time I am in Westwood I’ll definitely go to Shamshiri.

Stopped by here late Friday night and had the Chicken Koobideh Combo which was nothing to write home about ! The rice was good and plenty; but the Kabobs lacked flavor and were bland. And the chicken one was for sure not marinate w Saffron.

The food was amazing with a great taste, the restaurant felt very clean and elegant to sit inside. The service was helpful and didn't have to wait too long for our food to come. Would definitely come back!

This review is dedicated to the incredible dessert I was introduced to here - falloudeh. I learned that this is a dessert of thin vermicelli-like starch mixed with semi-frozen rose water syrup, and eaten with lime juice squeezed over top. It's really such an incredibly refreshing yet sweet flavor combination and now I will be looking all the time for this dessert! Of course the main was also good, I ordered the chicken kabob which was very tender. Less 1 star for the service, it was difficult to get servers' attention and they forgot to bring out one of our dishes that we ordered.

I came here to celebrate with my friend what is the Persian New Year or Nowruz as it's called. It falls on the Spring Equinox and it's customary to eat fish and green rice called Sabzi polo. We ordered the fried white fish which is the most tasty and popular! Great service and friendly staff. The food is fresh and incredible! Ambiance is casual and I love the tanoor they have to bake the bread with, the freshly baked bread they give you with butter is so special and delicious.

I love it here. I visit every time I go to LA. It's fresh and the flavors are always consistent and never disappoint me. They always treat me like family.

Exquisitely seasoned. Some of the best lamb I've ever had. Solid filet, chicken flavor is amazing, best with a little lime. Highly recommend the yogurt and hummus to go with the naan. Great service, water refilled frequently, check ins. I also recommend to get the black tea after the meal, it'll help with the food coma.

Amazing food!! Owner and manager Mo has created an amazing restaurant. Come for the delicious food! Fun entertainment! For appetizers, order the crispy rice! Served with two sides - a yellow lentil curry and a green herbal stew (sorry I don't remember the name). Delicious! Grade: A- Appetizers - also order the grilled eggplant. Served with a flat bread for dipping. Amazing! Grade/ A+ Appetizers - also order the yogurt dip. Light and fresh dip your flatbread. Grade: A- For my meal I always order the beef shish kabob with cherry rice. Absolutely tasty and delightful! Grade A There is entertainment here in specific night. Super fun to hang out!

Favorite place to bring guests and enjoy authentic Persian cuisine in the heart of Tehrangeles. I love the different rice dishes especially the one with red berries! My go-to for kabobs! Chengae kabobs are my personal favorite but the ground beef's kabobs are moist and delicious. If you like fish, their white fish dish is exquisite. Other personal favorites include Gormeh Sabzi. Fresh baked naan bread is a treat!

Amazing Food and Exceptional Service! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flame, and I have to say, it was one of the best meals I've ever had west of the Mississippi! I ordered the salmon kabob with bagali rice and a side salad, and it was perfection on a plate. The salmon was grilled to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and paired so well with the fragrant rice and fresh, crisp salad. Every bite was an experience, and it's honestly some of the best Persian food I've ever had. On top of the incredible food, the service was equally outstanding. The staff were not only friendly but also super efficient. My order came out quickly, but the quality was never compromised. They made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped in and were attentive throughout the meal without being intrusive. You can tell they care about creating a great dining experience for every guest. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

Wow!!! Best Persian resturant best service. So accomadating we had a party of 14 and switched the time so many times and they made it work no other restaurant would do that they are the kindest people wow and food is top of the line coming back for sure

1st Time Try. 2023 L.A Michelin The Plate. Order Lamb Shish Kebab + Chicken Kebab , Rack Of Lamb Kebab (Delicious Yummy).

Tried their lamb shank for dinner. The lamb was perfectly cooked sliding right off the bone. But the tomato sauce was watery and bland. I could not even taste any tomato flavor in it. Got lubia polo along with the lamb. For under $5, that was a large quantity of nicely cooked basmati rice with diced filet mignon. I definitely had a better Persian lamb shank somewhere else.

The bread is really good it's fresh and yogurts, Soltani is not fresh, we didn't finished it . Taste different...

Flame is one of many Persian restaurants along Westwood Boulevard, but one of the best- they have a tanour oven and bake fresh bread when you sit down, so it's fresh and hot from the oven! All of the food- from kebabs to stews and rice dishes are delicious, with large portions and very reasonable prices. I think they offer some good desserts, but Saffron and Rose Ice Cream is directly across the street ... Allow a little time to find a parking space, but we've usually found free parking on the side streets.

This restaurant is dirty. The entrance from parking is filthy. The manger did not know what kind of fish they were serving. One star only.

Tahdig is fire when they have it Barg is good but overcooked Beef koobideh is not the best

I am a loyal customer for years. I am not Persian but like Persian food. Amazingly delicious food! Generous portions. And today Manager/Owner treated me for mast-o-khiar. Wonderful ambience. I ordered today a combination of chicken and beef koobideh. P. S.-please note that many Persian restaurants (I am not talking about Flame) do not nowadays add bread automatically and onions, a customer should ask when it comes to delivery. Just got the food from Uber eats and everything is burned. Call the restaurant and spoke to the manager Shawn. He told me the food is burned because it is from 2 days ago. Didn't want to give me the refund ask to get it from Uber eats

Too bad I don't have photos, but this place is amazing! We came with a big group and ordered half of what's on the menu. I'm Persian, and was excited about how authentic and delicious the food was! Also, very reasonably priced, and nice service too.

This place is excellent the food taste great. The service has been great. Every time I've been here I've been here at least 50 times. I can't believe all these crybabies that are leaving bad reviews. Some of these people have nobody to talk to so they write their mumbo-jumbo online.

What a lovely restaurant and the only Persian restaurant on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list in LA. I visited the place for lunch on Sunday and was happy could get a table without reservation. The ambiance of the place is very classic with well dressed servers. We were a party of 5 and started with a freshly baked basket of bread which was being made in front of us. The bread was amazing. We also tried the appetizer combo and the massa Masir and Shirazi salad were amazing. Was not very impressed by the baadamjoon though. For the main main course we tried the vegetarian gormah sabzi which was one of the best I have had ( I am married to a Persian) but the chicken kabob were just ok. The rice was very fresh and fluffy but that day they did not have Tadiq which was a bummer. We were also a lil upset that we were not served enough bread with all the dips we ordered and the server was a bit hesitant to serve us more. At the end of the day I would definitely recommend this place in Persian square

I love the food at this place!! They have quite the selection and it's always spotless The prices are normal for Westwood, so if you're looking for something cheap this isn't it. Go to in n out.

Probably the best rack of lamb I have ever had. Great customer service and the place was busy. Food comes out fast and very tasty and flavorful! That lamb though! My lawdy! Good stuff.

Nice Persian restaurant that serves Hallal food. Ordered to go and food was ready, fresh and hot 20 minutes later. Tried tahchin, a seasoned rice cake dish mixed with yogurt and saffron, baked with layers of chicken or lamb and topped with barberries. The lamb was absolutely delicious with a crispy tadig like crust. The chicken was very dry, unfortunately. Meals came with hot tanori flatbread, onions, lemon, butter and a large garden salad. Surprised at the size of the salad that was filled with Persian cucumbers, tomatoes and beets (my favorite). The dressing was creamy and flavorful. Ordered shirazi salad and a side of hummus which was perfect for dipping the tanori bread. Both were good. Although the restaurant was empty on a early Saturday evening, the service was pleasant. Check in on Yelp for a discount when in person dining opens up again.

Service was terrible ,tables covered by flimsy paper 4 of us sat by the window no water offered we had to call waiter over for napkins and more water the food plates looked like fast food no sabzi and or sides suggested by bearded waiter with lots of hair , maybe in my food too. Very expensive charges for bread too All in all the service has gone down the tube this location in Westwood used to be passable , not any more..

They ran out of tadig at 6pm?! The koobideh tasted strange. The wrong rice came with the food. Asked for a side of onion that never came. My daughters salad finally came about 45 minutes after her meal. The makhlood ice cream was strange. I will not be back.

This place is down the tubes. The kabob, the fish, the chicken and even the ghormeh sabzi were horrible. The meat and fish all had a really bad smell and aftertaste. They obviously were not fresh at all. The ghormeh sabzi was worse than a supermarket. Watered down no beans and mostly liquified. I won't be ordering in restaurant nor delivery from here anymore. When we called to complain about a forgotten order and to let them know about their meat tasting off they told us to call the delivery service (aka Postmates). They were rude and not people pleasing nor apologetic at all when I spoke with the manager. They just lost a customer of ten years. Choose almost any other restaurant on Westwood Blvd. over this and you made out good!

Unassuming but some of the most delicious Persian food I have had in West LA. The tahchin with lamb is quite unforgettable. Great service as well. Bravo.

While looking forwarding to trying this restaurant, we were sadly disappointed in the lack of flavor. Portions are beyond generous and offer good value; but dishes are uninspired and bland. Ambiance is dated, with cheesy video screens, but the large dining room is well-lit and can accommodate large parties. Service is average and appears to be understaffed.

I enjoyed my time at this place. I ordered rainbow trout fish & my husband ordered koobide. We also ordered yogurt & cucumber & tahdig with ghorme sabzi. Everything was delicious!

Clean and safe Persian restaurant in Westwood with nice and welcoming staffs . Foods are delicious, fresh bread with butter comes first and makes customers feel like home. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have the most delicious Persian food.

One of the best Persian restrants I have ever had. The Soltani is a great meal if you are hungry and is also really good food to have as a family. The area is really nice and if you get to stop by. I recommend to try Saffron and Rose for desert. The service is amazing and if you speak Farsi you can have some conversations with the waiters. It also has great ambiance and You can watch them make the fresh bread right there. The food is moderately priced and I recommend parking behind the building there is always an open spot. So overall highly recommend!

The ambiance is nice, the service is great, the only problem is the food !! The mast mosir is not made with mosir and is made with garlic it was disgusting !! Kashke bademjoon was sweet and not at all taste like kashke bademjoon and the koobideh tasted nothing like koobideh !! I hated every bite and couldn't even finish my food !! So disappointed!!! Oh by the way the bread they bring before food is amazing ! I think i just ate the bread !

It can be the closest Persian food to the original . Koobide was soft , chicken and as juicy, sabzi polo was fresh, Gheyme was amazing!! Tadig was a little bit hard to chew but delicious

I went this place with my wife and Son, We order appetizer and 3 Kobideh , our order was missing appetizer, and the Waiter said I did not order , which i remember pointed out to him on the menu. 1- Very bad service, the guy, waiter, was unprofessional, looks like , he did not like his job, 2- Food was taste everything except kabob, no meat!! 3- I would not recommend to anybody to go there.

Delicious food, excellent and friendly service. Granted, we were there when it wasn't busy at all, the staff did everything they could to give us a good experience. FOOD The Cornish hen was a bit dry and a bit too sour for my taste and rice quality could have been better. (Minus one star) The ghormeh sabzi with veal was delicious The ghaimeh was good but I've had better The most-o-khiar was delicious. SERVICE We were celebrating a birthday, the staff happily accepted our cake and brought it out with candles that they provided and sang her happy birthday. They also provided extra plates and utensils for the cake. They were very accommodating.

I've been coming to Flame for 13 years. This place has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I have had consistent EXCELLENT service and food for a decade and more. I'm a poor ass young adult, and can't afford to eat here often. But thats what made it special. Their food always nostalgically reminded me of the food I ate growing up with my dad. Something has changed though, and it breaks my heart. I had to move to the valley for 2 years and I couldnt have Flame much during that time. I just moved back recently and had to hit up my favorite shop. The last 5 times I have ordered from them over about 4 months, almost every one of my favorite comfort dishes has tasted wrong or been overcooked. My favorite go-to dishes are either beef or chicken koobideh/soltani, tahdig, ghormeh sabzi, mast-o khiar, baghali polo or any of the variations on polo. The rice is done mostly right, though some of those times it was dry. The koobideh has been dry most of those times. The ghormeh sabzi the last 3 times has been watery and not thick like I would want in a stew. Also there has been no chunks of hearty beef like I am accustomed to. It's small shredded pieces. I could of gotten just very unlucky these past several times and not gotten served chunks. But I love those tender cuts of beef that melt in your mouth as your eating ghormeh sabzi, it's a small slice of heaven. The taste of the actual ingredients in the ghormeh sabzi seemed good to me. I like mine on the sour side and Flame still does that right. Just way more watery than I've ever had ghormeh sabzi and that really killed the dish for me. The beef soltani has been just alright, but often it's on the drier side than the super tender side like I have always had. I think the ingredients are good and the taste is there. I have had one time where I thought the koobideh was less seasoned and tasty than I remember. I've been eating these dishes for so long at this exact place so I have much to compare it to, thats why I am being so specific in this review. The mast-o khiar has also taken a hit. I am not sure if you changed yogurts or maybe just ingredient ratios but it has been less thick and sour than I remember. Also I somehow didn't get diced cucumber in my last delivery order of mast-o khiar which is weird. Thinking that they just served me the wrong yogurt. But the taste just hasn't been as nuanced as it used to be. Not sure if it's an ingredient change or maybe a change of chefs, but most food has been consistently wrong tasting the past 5 times I've gone. Not every dish was off, but at least 1-3 dishes every time was. I say all of this with so much love in my heart and with no spite or anger. I love this place and I just want it to be as good as I remember. I can't justify spending like $60 getting all my favorite comfort foods when they don't taste near perfect like Flame has showed me it can be. Seriously, it used to be consistently perfect and tasty I'd think it was witchcraft or something. If there are any of those working at Flame reading this, please know I love ya'll and I thank you for the great food and memories. I'll be periodically checking in to see how the food is. Sorry for the whole ESSAY. That should show how much I love this place.

This is the biggest joke for "Persian food" there is. How an area with such a large Persian population allows this place to exist is beyond me. They messed up Ash Reshteh, and Koobideh. Rice is also not cooked properly. Shut this place down immediately.

We went here last night for a friends birthday dinner. The service was excellent! Our server Kian worked tirelessly managing our large group. He was extremely pleasant and tried his best to meet all our needs. He gets 5 stars for excellent service! The fresh in house bread along with eggplants -borani bademjaan, and hummus's was absolutely delicious. The fish was a little overcooked. The meats were okay. I've had better and more juicy koobedeh elsewhere. Potions were good! I highly recommend this place for large groups! It's nice inside and they have proper linen and silverware.

Used to come here a lot when I was younger. But now live further away so it's been a while. Brought some out of town guests to try Persian food. Started off will all sorts of appetizers. Food was fresh and the eggplant dip is frigging amazing! The Ghormesabzi stew was delicious but the fesenjun was the perfect amount of creamy sweet and sour which is most places don't get right but here they did The chicken kabobs were nice and juicy as were the beef versions. Their prices are great for the portion sizes. Service very professional and attentive. My guests were very impressed with the food and can't wait to come back again for more of it.
