19 Great Places To Drink Coffee In London

"Flat White is a Berwick Street stalwart and one of London’s original specialist coffee shops. It’s always friendly, it’s always busy, and it should definitely be your destination when you’re strolling around in this part of Soho." - oliver feldman, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

7 Great Coffee Spots Where You Can Get 50% Off With The Eat Out To Help Out Scheme

"If you’re a fan of serious coffee, you’ll probably know Flat White. This small Berwick Street spot was one of the first of a new wave of London cafés to take coffee seriously, and they still serve some of the best in town. Seating is usually fairly limited, but they’ve spread out into the street and are serving an Eat Out To Help Out brunch set menu from 9am-4pm Monday to Wednesday. The same team run Milkbar over on Bateman Street where you can also Eat Out To Help Out." - oliver feldman, rianne shlebak

Best Restaurants in Soho | Where to Eat in Soho | Eater London

"A one-time nexus of London’s speciality coffee culture, this is still the best place to get coffee in the hubbub-grid that is Soho and the formerly ... Idiosyncratic ... service has mellowed out. Get the eponymous drink and sit outside like it’s 2005." - Adam Coghlan

As coffee shop owners from middle England, we actively sought out a business that is similar to ours. The most amazing thing is MY LATTE WAS DRINKING TEMPERATURE! You have no idea how much that means to me, and it significantly contributed to our experience. The iced coffee was also drinking temperature 😉 even though we asked for it EXTRA HOT. (Jokes) Nice place to come, appreciate your approach to coffee. 🐾

Google
Coffee is nice, this coffee was nice. Was pleasantly surprised by the option of almond milk as well as oat you don’t always get that. Quick with their service perfectly nice to sit in and sip. Cakes and bites looked quite nice even through I didn’t try.

Not your average hipster coffee shop. Tucked away on Berwick Street in the heart of Soho, Flat White has an unassuming exterior and a no-fuss, functional interior. Black walls, hanging filament bulbs, and a cluttered counter stacked with grinders, pastries, and milk alternatives—it’s pure organised chaos, in the best possible way. But it’s the staff and the coffee that make this place sing. The atmosphere is loud—thrashing metal music on full blast—which, while it was a bit much, it was nothing a good pair of ANC headphones couldn’t fix. Now, I love my coffee strong, and their iced oat latte absolutely delivered. While you’re at it, grab yourself a ‘Good ol’ chocolate chip cookie’ (yes, that’s the actual name) or one of the pain au chocolats piled up at the counter. Settle yourself on one of the benches out front and watch Soho life unfold around you. A staple, no-frills, thrilling coffee experience that gets straight to the point.

Google
A really cool coffee shop in Soho with a vibrant, energetic vibe. They play great music, and I enjoyed a creamy flat white along with a perfectly flaky and buttery croissant. The staff was very friendly, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. This spot isn’t quiet—the music is loud, making it ideal if you’re looking for a place with energy and good tunes while enjoying your coffee. Perfect for a lively break!

Step into Flat White and you're instantly greeted by warmth — not just from the coffee, but from the people. The staff are effortlessly friendly, creating a space that feels more like a friend’s cozy living room than a café. The coffee? Phenomenal. Smooth, rich, and crafted with care. While the pastry selection is minimal, it's clearly a case of quality over quantity. I tried the lavender cookie — a delicate surprise that balances lightness with the comforting energy of a chocolate chip classic. Highly recommend it with whatever you're sipping. If there's one way Flat White could level up, it’s by adding power sockets to every seat. As someone who works on the go, my phone was hanging on for dear life — thankfully, a kind staff member offered to charge it behind the counter (a lifesaver!). All in all, Flat White is the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer. A café with heart, flavor, and yes — very good vibes.

Google
The original and still the best? Flat White was a revelation donkey’s years ago - an oasis of beautiful coffee made with love when most coffee served up in London was crap and people still asked for chocolate powder on a woeful cappuccino. I’ve been living overseas for eight years, visiting London for a few weeks and decided to seek it out again. Nothing’s changed. In a good way. Same small cosy place, friendly team, and a cortado and a flat white that each were divine. There are so many “artisan”coffee houses in London now, not all of them are good, but Flat White in Berwick Street is probably one of the originals, and definitely (still) one of the best.

Good coffee, no sandwiches, just some pastries that are available during the time of visit. Banana bread was good.

Cool spot, good looking food. The coffee was insanely good. Possibly the beat coffee ive had. Id like to know what beans they use so I can have at home. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
When I learned that there was a coffee shop just off the beaten path in Soho that just so happens to share the name with my absolute favorite coffee drink I had to check it out. I arrived 10min before close, so, I wasn't able to really sit in the ambiance that is Flat White. That being said, the staff was friendly, and the service was quick. Before I talk about the drink experience, some additional details... I fell in love with flat whites when I visited Australia several years ago and I've been ordering and making them at home ever since. One thing worth noting is that a UK (and much of Europe) flat white is not quite the same as an Aussie or American flat white. It's still the same components; rich and bold espresso shot(s) accompanied by textured milk (steam milk infused with air to create a velvety texture), but in the UK they are restricted to cup sizes for some reason (mostly to do with the ratio of espresso to cup size). I was presented with a 4oz to-go coffee cup. The flavor was great, and with execution solid. While this particular drink was delicious, I think I still prefer an Aussie flat white (or American). Having the barely bigger than espresso size feels like the drink is condensed while I want to enjoy the drink and flavor for longer. Cheers!!

Yelp
Great service, excellent coffee, good prices. Friendly and fabulous! Ordered three flat whites to go and they were out in a jiffy. My friend recommended this place, as it's his fave. I can see why.

Yelp
I love the coffee shop and the owner is very welcoming and friendly. Great place to go after a long day at work.

Yelp
When I went with my friend, the place was very busy but still offered a lovely escape from the hustle of Soho. As someone who's been trained as a barista. The Latte I ordered was great, nice and smooth. Little bit foamer than I personally like but still very enjoyable. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her flat white as well. I especially loved the coffee grinder they had for customers to use. Looked like a fun thing to use.

Yelp
A bartender at a restaurant we went to had recommended that we come to flat white for a cup of coffee and I'm very glad that he did. While I feel like a lot of the coffee that I had in the UK in general is just not as strong as what I'm used to, this one came the closest. I got a latte and it was super cozy and comforting and very well balanced. The service was quick and I was in and out the door so I could move onto my next adventure. We also tried a slice of their banana bread and it was quite tasty!

Yelp
Great coffee shop, a friend took us here because we were stranded for 3 days in the summer during all of the flight cancelations. I had a cortado, yum probably the best cortado I have had. The atmosphere was great lots of people working and drinking coffee. We walked around the neighborhood with my yummy coffee and i wanted more right after.

Yelp
Cute dog friendly cafe with friendly waiters! I ordered the avocado and salmon toast with poached eggs, and it came with perfectly seasoned mashed avocado with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top. The fried sourdough bread was a massive and perfect portion, and it was a wonderfully hearty well priced meal. I throughly enjoyed every bite!! Would highly recommend this place, I also tried their famous flat white and it was a well done drink. Like a lot of cafes in London, it's a small cozy place so much easier to come here in parties of two.
google avatar

Yelp
Good espresso with friendly and professional staff! Space was clean and cozy. Not a ton of seating but in the middle of the day it was mainly people having coffee, not food and seats turned over quickly. I don't think it's a place to camp out on your computer but a great place to take a few minutes and recharge.

Yelp
This is one of the few places where, as soon as I took a sip, I said out loud, "Damn. That's good." It was so smooth and naturally slightly sweet and scrumptious. It woke me up quickly and put a smile on my face. The cafe was definitely full, but we were able to get our flat white to go. The crowd seemed rather hipster. Definitely pop in here if you're looking for a caffeine fix and classic flat white.
google avatar

Yelp
It is hard to find a coffee shop in London that cares about tea as much as it cares about coffee. Flat white manages to. They have a reasonably large range of loose leaf teas for the size of the cafe, and they serve them at the correct temperature, not scalding the leaves with boiling water as so many places do. It is a relatively small cafe, in the usual style, black and white pinboards for the menus, a selection of pastries on wooden boards, all in all perfectly pleasant. If like me you need a cup of tea in the morning I can recommend this place in soho.

Yelp
From my trips to the States, I've come to realise that American Yelpers are very particular about their coffee. Being a non hot drink drinker myself, I've not come to appreciate the subtle variations in beans, tempering, water temperature etc which my friends assure me are essential to producing the perfect brew My visiting Yelp Elite friend Lorrie M from California was a on a tight schedule for her whistlestop 3 day visit to London and after reading good reviews for Flat White's coffee, she had timetabled in breakfast on Sunday We duly arrived promptly at opeing time with a few other customers to be confronted by a shut sign though there were signs of life inside. However, we were duly ignored until another worker turned up and the guy inside unlocked the door "We're opening late today because we have no workers." No apology or approximate opening time given. The tone of voice was definitely not welcoming His colleague rescued one star back on this review by suggesting on the way out that we could follow him to Milk Bar, which was open and run by the same company Flat White? More like flat line on the EEG brain tracing part of that guy's brain dealing with customer service

Yelp
This was one of the best cups of coffee I had in SoHo. I drank flat whites even though I was wondering if it was the kind of place where really the thing you want to have is what isn't in the name. And it was the best avocado toast I've ever had. It was a really generous portion, seasoned appropriately. The bread was very satisfying, and with the eggs felt like a complete meal. Every avocado toast I've had in the U.S. has been a fraction of the size for a similar price, which is crazy to me considering that unlike the U.S., they don't even have avocados on their continent. They're making something simple, hearty, and delicious, whereas most avocado toast in the U.S. seems to be designed to bilk hipsters out of their trust funds.

Yelp
One of my regular pre-audition haunts in London, with very high quality "New Zealand style" coffee! Admission first, I have not had their more... Meal-type foods. So far, I've stuck to their excellent coffee and the occasional bit of sweet things. The coffee warrants a five star rating, easy! Their flat white is very good (as it should be, all things considered) but what truly stands out is their piccolo/ cortado, which for some reason they call "Bongo" ("just a silly name" was their answer when I asked). It's shorter than a flat white and strikes a great balance between the espresso and the milk. Smooth as silk, it went down a treat! I tried a coconut meringue slice... Thing, and while the taste was nice and not too sickly sweet, it was also quite dry and ultimately kinda boring. The staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their work. Nothing's gone wrong in my visits so I've not had a "chance" to test them during more strained circumstances, so the mark down from a fiver is down to the sweet stuff. Once I try their food, I'll update, and perhaps I'd up this by that final star! Definitely coming back, and I see a lot of Bongos (seriously, why BONGO?! Is it because the little glass with the drink in it looks kinda like a drum?) in my future.
google avatar

Bea B.

Yelp
They now have a toilet, so that's a plus. And the dude behind the counter was chill which makes things nice. In addition, the quick nibble choco-coconut balls I ordered (sweetened with agave nectar) were pretty tasty in a health food-y kinda way. Flat White is made up of a smattering of two-top tables, so be prepared to have your items 'take away'. All in all, it's worth a stop-in if you're keen on grabbing an espresso drink & quick snack. Of course, one could always traipse down Berwick to Foxcroft & Ginger... https://www.yelp.com/biz/foxcroft-and-ginger-london

Yelp
I'm really kind of confused at this place. But I guess I am more generous than my awesome London host Yee Gan O. who gave this place 2 stars. We were set to meet up here in the morning (they are supposed to be open at 9am!) for coffee and a quick breakfast before heading off to explore London. I arrived about 20 minutes late because I ended up taking a bus (the tube was not running from my station) and the bus ended up taking a detour ... regardless, when I arrived I found Yee Gan sitting outside. To my surprise, although 4-5 people had shown up at Flat White and went inside (presumably workers), they were not open for business. We further inquired as to when they would be open as it was 35 minutes past 9:00am at this point and the frantic man who was at the door said "I don't know, I don't know!" and practically slammed the door on us. Interesting? We ended up being referred to their other place, Milk Bar? or something. We eventually found it, but that was just really bizarre and strange.

Yelp
Coffee is just too good. Dare I say, the best flat white I ever had. The earl grey tea was delicious too. Cozy cafe with fast Wi-Fi, I couldn't ask for anything more. It's a bit expensive for my taste but you do pay for quality. Not a great place for large groups since it is quite small and the seating is limited. Fast and friendly, what more could I ask for!
google avatar

Yelp
Great (strong) coffee, good pastries, fast service, good music, what else do you want in a coffee house?

Yelp
Hot day with a ice flat white is totally a fixed for me. Good coffee and highly recommended.

Yelp
Being a Kiwi, I couldn't wait to try this antipodean cafe run by New Zealanders AND Australians, neither of whom will agree where the Flat White came from, nor the Pavlova. I was a little disappointed by the coffee. It wasn't exactly like I am used to in New Zealand, and I have been back 5 times to NZ in the past 2 1/2 yrs. It was way better than what McDonalds calls a Flat White in the UK. My local cafe in Los Angeles (The Lyric, in Silver Lake) , makes a Flat White which most times is comparable and sometimes better than what The Flat White serves; very unusual for a US Coffee shop where you don't expect anything too great!! A good Flat White is Espresso blended with textured milk which becomes very velvety and smooth!!
google avatar

Trudi C.

Yelp
Great little place! I've been doing a tasting selection of flat whites across London, I get to a place bearing the name...and have a cappuccino. The mind works in mysterious ways :P Tasty little cappuccinos with the good old art on top! My mum ordered an iced coffee, and the staff were sweet enough to bring over an extra glass of the leftovers when they made it, all for free :) Mum was very happy, which is good enough for me!
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop tucked away from all the hustle and bustle, noise and people rushing to complete their shopping. I find it hard to enjoy my coffee here in London. Not many places I have been that make a great strong FW. This one at least is drinkable.
google avatar

Cari S.

Yelp
I love the cosy, slightly too crammed 50's espresso vibe of Flat White. Not that any of this is contrived. It just happens to be a very cool little coffee bar in the heart of Soho - it couldn't have a better setting. I managed to find a seat when I came here on a late Sunday morning - two seats actually! Although space is at a premium, and seats fill up quickly, they can also empty quickly, so don't be disheartened if it looks too busy. Just loiter around for a little bit, and chances are you will be rewarded with a seat. I had what looked like the best choice - a cafe latte. Normally when I go to chain coffee shops I dick around with my coffee - skinny/ whipped/ no foam/ with syrup - basically I render it uncoffee like. I won't do anything like that in serious coffee establishments. Full fat, straight up - it's the only way to go. I was not disappointed. It truly is great coffee. Strong, but not bitter, slightly velvety and thick. My only slight complaint was that the lattes come in a small tumbler glass, so 5 sips and they are gone. I ordered a slab of toasted banana bread, which was sweet and tasted reassuringly home made. With that it was one more latte for the road, and after that, my Saturday night hangover was a thing of the past.

Yelp
I first visited Flat White after it appeared in the life style/current affairs magazine Monocle's ideal high street. Australasia has a discerning coffee culture, and the aim of the Flat White New Zealand owners was to introduce something comparable here. The coffee is Monmouth and so is very good. The name of the shop comes from the name of its preeminent coffee. The flat white is an Australian coffee that is somewhere between a latte and a white filter coffee. It is definitely worth trying especially if you don't want the caffeine of a full filter. The staff are really friendly. The only bad thing about the place is that the shop is very poky and so can be a bit awkward if you stay.
google avatar

Yane Y.

Yelp
Sooo, what are you looking for? This is the question. Are you looking for good coffee/latte's with fancy designs? Then this is the place. A small coffee shops with a couple gourmet-like sandwiches. Again, as an American, this place was expensive. The cappuccino that my friend had was strong. She enjoyed it, but it was basically a shot! (like a shot glass) I ordered the chorizo sandwich, which was just okay. It had some green leafy bit in it - arugula? Anyway, wasn't a big fan of that.... All in all, it was fine. but nothing overly fantastic. I thought it was overpriced. but hey! maybe that's because I'm an American and everything is 50% of in the States!! ;-)
google avatar

Umeet S.

Yelp
I think this would be a nice place to get some work done at. Tables can seat 1-3 people tops, and the place in general is quiet and small. They carry a typical menu of beverages, from espresso drinks to teas, along with various pastries and snacks. They also have complimentary infused water. +Points for having vegan beverage options (soya). I had a flat white which was honestly kind of disappointing. The drink was strong and velvety, but the espresso was not smooth at all. :( If I came back, I'd be hesitant to try another espresso drink.
google avatar

Jing Shyang Y.

Yelp
Not much to say. But does extremely nice Mochas. Strangely they do a large size for take-away but only normal/small size for drinking inside (is that a hint?) The staff were friendly and nicely explained drinks I didn't recognise on the menu. One of them an italian ice cream espresso. They mentioned this was due to be taken off the menu possibly due to it's non-popularity, so try that before it goes or try and save it! Perfect for stopping at after a meal in Chinatown/Soho.
google avatar

Zubair K.

Yelp
Delicious coffee tasted by a Swedish company but brewed here on premises. The latte was spot on and extremely strong and I could not have asked for more!

Yelp
It's a good place for a quick breakfast. Service is fast if and friendly. The toast is enough to get you trough to a late lunch and the granola is nice as well.

Qype User (Hersal…)

Yelp
Very nice Antipodean coffee shop, one of the top places for proper quality coffee in Cental London, the others being Fernandez & Wells (Soho), Monmouth Coffee (Covent Garden), the new Milk Bar (Soho, same owners as Flat White) and then a tie, between Tinderbox (Angel) and maybe, just maybe Sacred (Carnaby Street). Best try the flat white (a properly made latte), there's a reason that the coffee shop is named this. Who knew that the Antipodeans would be the driving force in London coffee culture? Pros - Good strong coffee - best breakfast sandwich I've ever tasted (bacon, egg & sweet tomato chutney). - nice staff - friendly atmosphere - good music Cons - Very busy in the morning, so a long wait for your coffee (try getting there early or maybe in the evening to get a seat even). - Pricey, over double the price of most chain coffee shops (but I suppose that is to be expected). - I've noticed of late that the strength of the coffee depends on who's operating the machines. Have had a very weak flat white, which put me off the place for a few weeks. Not too bad since I just detoured to Milk Bar. - Addictive, I used to have a flat white every day for a few months. It was hard weaning myself off. I've still not entirely kicked the habit...

Yelp
As it's name suggested they are really good at espresso based drink, flat White is absolutely my favorite choice . Very bold taste with a hint of fruit fragrance, perfect

Yelp
Yelp lists this place as a great place to work with free WiFi. No WiFi available.. which makes it hard to work. Coffee was a little bitter... like the cashier.

Yelp
Fantastic flat white coffee. The coffee was really aromatic with the perfect amount of milk to accentuate the beautifully crafted beverage.

Yelp
It has been a while I wanted to check out FlatWhite and I was not disappointed! The coffee tastes good and the atmosphere is very nice. I will come back for another coffee break!

Yelp
I don't claim to know anything about cars or law, rocket science or brain surgery, deep sea fishing or migratory patterns of birds. But I know coffee. Believe. Upon moving to London, I wasn't concerned about the rumors of terrible food (which were vastly misjudged, might I add). But the fear of terrible coffee sent chills up my constantly caffeinated spine. You see, it has been consistently proven in my life that the further East I travel from the Northwest coffee motherland, the exponentially worse the coffee gets. I had a string of nightmares in New York upon learning that Dunkin' Doughnuts was a legitimate coffee stop. And then I found Flat White. The familiar sounds of shot pulling and milk steaming combined with the transcendent scent of freshly roasted beans made me an instant believer. After the proverbial milk swirling and table pounding, a masterful piece of coffee art was innocuously presented. One sip revived me, resurrected me, even turned me on a bit? It's true, I was completely turned by a large flat white. (Now there's a phrase I never anticipated joyfully announcing!)
google avatar

Wade W.

Yelp
Spent a solid week in SoHo eating and trying to find the best espresso drinks in the 'hood. Flat White easily is at or near the top of both lists - especially their service and brunch. Sweet mother...their toasties are perfection (I had the chili/avo/feta and the poached egg/avo/bacon - both were insanely good). Cortado, espresso, and flat white were made with great beans and TLC
google avatar

Lizzie S.

Yelp
I'm a mean mean lady who demands filter coffee, do you hear me?! I want filter coffee, no giving me a watered down espresso is not a filter coffee...you are a coffee shop right? You have a menu board with a selection of coffee types, yes, yes you do. Then where the hell is that regular coffee!!!! My americano was lovely, and the fresh cakes that arrived while I sat there with Cindy looked to die for but I'm just not impressed by this place. What no toilet? Isn't coffee a laxative? Bit silly not to have a bog in a place that serves coffee really isn't it!
google avatar

Larissa R.

Yelp
Because of all the hype, I finally got around to visiting this place. When I entered the cafe, I was worried that all the tables were occupied and that I would have to simply get a take away flat white, which incited an immediate sense of disappointment as I was ready to sit down and truly enjoy the purported best coffee in London. I did find a seat, though, after a brusque exchange at the till, and quickly wedged myself in to wait for my cup to arrive. Looking around me, I was a bit disenchanted by the obviously dirty tables, with not only dried coffee stains but visible crumbs from previous customers. The music was playing at a markedly higher-than-conversational volume, thus making it impossible for me to concentrate on the obligatory coffee-shop reading I'd brought with me. The booth seat was far from comfortable, and not just in the no-lumbar-support sort of way. I could easily elbow my neighbours on both sides. My aforementioned disenchantment was increasing exponentially. But then, my flat white arrived. And I found myself transplanted in a world of unicorns, rainbows, and the best coffee I've ever tasted in the UK. The ten minutes or so it took me to finish a truly marvellous cup of coffee floated by in a caffeine-induced euphoria. But then, I found myself back in the cramped and sort of dirty cafe with somewhat surly staff. I was tempted to give the cafe a three-star rating, because, really, it fell well short of fostering friendly cafe culture. But that coffee . . . I will have dreams of it. Even if a 6-ounce cup cost me £3.

Yelp
Okay so I fancied trying somewhere new and couldn't be arsed to wonder round looking for it myself so I turned to Yelp (which I often do, don't worry) and with 38 reviews, the majority being positive, I just had to try it. My first impressions were REALLY not good... After queuing to get to the door I ordered offered my card for payment only to be told that it was cash only. Now grumpy I walked to the cash point where I queued again to get cash and then went back to the shop and paid (more than I was expecting). I sat and waited for my coffee and toasted sandwich as I read one of their newspapers. As I sat I listened to the banter between the all the staff, shouting and joking back and forwards. I began to chill out and, to my surprise, started to forget about my initial (and petty) grumpiness. They seemed like a nice bunch of friends that had set up a cool business together and they appeared to know and be friendly with some of the locals which I really liked. This place has got personality & character. After taking one bite of my chorizo, rocket and red pepper toasted sandwich I had almost completely forgotten about being a miserable bastard. And by the time I'd lapped up a bit of my bloody gorgeous mocha I would probably worn a 'I Love White Flat' t-shirt if they'd have thrown one my way. So they definitely recovered on the 'No Cards' thing. On my way back from the cash point I was all like "Man, Yelp's gonna hear about this"...and they did.
google avatar

Lena C.

Yelp
"Come with me," my friend said, "and I'll show you the best coffee in London!" A tall order. And so we queued up at Flat White. I haven't been to enough coffee houses in London to be able to adequately comment on whether it's the best in all of the city. But it is very, very good. And the atmosphere is pretty cozy, too.
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Really? Good coffee? In LONDON? Are you sure? YES. My friend took me here with the promise of a taste of home (I'm from Australia) and she delivered! Not ONLY can you order a flat white (a concept London baristas stare blankly at the suggestion of) but they also have Banana bread, another foreign idea for Britons. The place is tiny, so you'd be lucky to get a seat but you should absolutely bring a friend here & show them the BEST coffee in London. (ie, actual coffee).
google avatar

Benjamin K.

Yelp
I used to like Flat White... then it closed, all of the staff was replaced, and they made some marginal improvements to the store. Unfortunately, the coffee has really suffered in my opinion. I'm now suffering through a watery, bitter, and unpleasant Long Machiatto.. it will be my last one from Flat White.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
Tasty breakfast and GREAT coffee. Personally I think the place itself lacks a bit of personality - perhaps all the staff were hungover but I wasn't feeling the great coffee -or anything- passion on the saturday morning we went. The cakes look great and the eponymous flat white was one of the best I've had here (I was suffering withdrawals from NZ so that was nice). However I wouldn't travel here but I'd pop in if in the area.

Grotty place. We were really put off by a guy standing outside the door smoking and having his cigarette smoke blowing into the cafe. What's worse is that he was an employee of the cafe. What's even worse is that he returned to work without washing his hands in full view of the customers. Not a great way to run a business. Won't be coming back.

Yelp
It was Saturday, the place was packed. It's tiny. We waited in the queue. We ordered four coffees. First, they don't take cards. As an avid Amex user, I'm used to places not taking Amex, but no cards at all? It's a bit irritating. We scrounged up enough money. (It wasn't hard really, there were four of us.) We got our coffees. My cappuccino was okay. Nothing great. Better than Starbucks, but that's not hard. Not as good as other New Zealand coffee places in London and definitely not as good as other coffee places in Soho. My friend's Americano was way too diluted. It's not worth the queue. Give it a miss.

Yelp
A friend and I had a chat about Australians and their love affair with caffelatte the other day. He ranted about Time Out's 'best places to drink a cup of joe' list for 2010 - so I told him that my favourite place to get one was Flat White. Turns out, that's because it's run by Australians (or New Zealanders if you read the reviews below!) Anyway, in a tiny little shop on Berwick Street sits this beauty of a coffee shop. If you get a seat, you'll be lucky, but it really does serve the best cappuccino (and latte, apparently) in Soho. This is the place to go at three in the afternoon, or to grab something to take out. It's not a lounging café. You go there for sheer quality, and the fact that it comes at a fairly decent price.

Yelp
If your name is Flat White the Flat White better be good. And it damn well is. I like getting my coffee and perching myself on the bench outside. It's too cramped inside for me I think. In any case this is good coffee.

Yelp
Served by the ultra cool hipster dude complete with comedy moustache and trilby hat. The shop a had a cool laid back feel but was rather noisy dispite being fairly quiet when I was there. It was very hot inside and they didn't have their fans turned on. (are they just decorations?) Flat white cost £2.50 worth the extra 10p compared to foxcroft & ginger? Served in a plain white Ikea esq cup, the flavour was strong with earthy bitter tones not as smooth a finish as I like. The froth not as fine as it could be but creamy enough and in the right proportions with the coffee. Liked the self serve water on the corner of the bar nice touch! However the door to the kitchen banged loudly on staff going through interrupting my reading. Personally I prefer F&G with its weird styling, quiet basement and in my opinion a better flat white than the namesake coffee house.

Yelp
Just a quick note to say that one of the best things they serve in here are the delicious hot chocolates with melted marsh mellows. It probably comes up to about 1,000 calories per sip, but it is such a great sort out on a cold winter day.

Yelp
I kind of want to give them a "meh" two stars but I haven't officially had the food or attempted to hangout with someone here yet so I will go back to give it a go. Stopped in after some Berwick street shopping and there happened to be an empty table. I love coffee (specifically macchiatos with a little bit of milk and sugar added myself), and if someone tells me that this place has really good coffee then I will need to sit there and slowly sip my caffeinated cuppa to truly enjoy. Ordered a flat white and a brownie (total impulse buy, damn you person in charge of cake displays). The brownie was too rich. It was straight chocolate square and not as cakey as I prefer. I had to wait for the coffee to come to my table to balance out the choconess (of course I finished the brownie despite my complaints pushhaw) The flat white was fine. It looked pretty, it was smooth and didn't taste bad. But it was that strong coffee, but not bitter, taste that I had back home that I wanted. I have yet to have that moment where I take a sip of something here and exclaim "ahhh yes, I'm home!!!". Oh yeah and it wasn't actually really hot when I got it. Combine that with the smoothness and I ended up chugging it to prevent drinking cold coffee. Space is limited so maybe find an off time to visit if you want to sit down and have some food and chats with peoples? The egg and toast with linguica added looked really tasty!
