Flatstick Pub Is Migrating North to Bellingham - Eater Seattle

"Flatstick Pub, known for a focus on local beer and cider paired with indoor mini-golf is expanding to Bellingham. The popular putt-putt emporium, which has locations in Kirkland, Pioneer Square, and South Lake Union, will open the Bellingham location in early 2020. When it opens, the new bar will pour from 30 taps and serve food developed by Seattle restaurateur Ethan Stowell. Stowell also oversees the menu at the South Lake Union pub. Founders Sam and Andy Largent source locally for all of their booze, with beer, wine, and cider coming from nearby producers. That should be particularly easy in Bellingham, which has a robust beer scene and a growing collection of cideries. The new location (902 N. State St.) will be open to minors until 7 p.m. each day, and it will allow dogs. The Largent brothers are in serious expansion mode, with locations opening in Spokane this winter and Tacoma early next year. They opened the first Flatstick Pub in Kirkland in 2014." - Megan Hill

It was a fun place, it was my first time going and not what I expected. The pizza was well done and unique flavor combinations.

We had my son's graduation party here. The atmosphere was perfect. We had half of the venue and plenty of space for our entire party to be comfortable and have fun. The games were super fun. The food was really good. The service was excellent. I do wish there were cocktail options outside of tap/cans. Booking the party was very easy and done all via email. The team called ahead of the party to confirm details. The cost of the rental and food plus gratuity felt like a really great value. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a stress free party/event. We will definitely be back! Our friends and family were super impressed and excited to come back again soon. Thanks so much!

Google
Wish we had a place like this in our city. Super friendly staff who were very helpful with our young family. Casual and no strict rules so you could play a bit of golf while waiting for your food, then go back after and finish the course. Bonus points for lots of brand new board games to play at your table, and those were all at no extra charge.

Much improved since the first time I went. Food is very good for a bar. Mini golf was a little underwhelming. Darts with video was fun. Staff was friendly. My opinion has totally changed from my initial experience, I will probably come back.

This was my first experience at Flatstick Pub. I've driven past the Seattle location many times and been intrigued by the concept. I was excited to find a location closer to home. Flatstick Pub has 2 rules: Drink Local and Have Fun. They source their adult beverage selection from local breweries - maintaining community as a pillar of their business model. There is a condensed 18 hole course that can be played an unlimited number of times for $10 per person. There are also other games set up as well. One is similar to beer pong, and another is called Duffleboard, a game proprietary to Flatstick that crosses shuffleboard and golf. There were also board games available to play. There is a bar, restaurant, and plenty of swag for purchase. My husband and I brought home a T-shirt in a pint glass for $15. This is a family friendly, noisy, environment - I personally would say for ages 8 and up, but all ages are welcome. There are golf putters for kids and adults alike. We ordered a Bogey Pizza $19 - sausage, pepperoni, olives, cheese, red sauce. It is SUPER thin and tasted good. It fed 2 adults. The mini-golf portion of the building is also pint- sized. There was a bachellorette party, a family of 4 adults, a party of 2 friends, a dad and tween daughter, my husband and I on the course at once. It was manageable. There is free, onsite parking. The two West windows are roll up doors, giving the space plenty of ventilation. There's a nice outdoor Patio space as well for those beautiful summer days and nights. We had a great time. Left happy. We'll be back!

Google
I went yesterday and since opening they had moved things around. The golf area has very little space for moving around. $15 for all the holes to be doubled up felt excessive. I like that it’s kid friendly but there was 6-9 children running around playing on the holes (not golfing) and blocking others from taking a turn. The play place in the mall with the cafe inside is where I would have expected this unsupervised behavior. It was overpriced and crowded, staff was nice however.

Awesome place. Had a cocktail and did some games. Cool spot. Golf/shuffleboard games were a great idea. Cheers!

Google
Wonderful local tap room with an excellent welcoming vibe and indoor mini-golf! Who doesn't love mini-golf?! Their beer selection is excellent. The locally-focused beer menu was an excellent overview of the Bellingham beer scene. While mini-golf costs money the other games (duffleboard, dufflepong, the outdoor and the strange volcano golf game) are all free. The only disappointment was that Brie (the GM, who we know from the Kirkland location) wasn't there.

Yelp
Gonna be honest here. It was rainy, we had a few hours to kill before our party and we walked here. Saturday afternoon, a round of mini golf and our mission was complete. Time had been killed. It was busy, a private party was going on and there were a lot of kids. Mini golf was fine, weird that you do the same 8 holes over again but whatever. Did not order drinks, or food but I'm sure it's fine too. Loud with a lot of TV's, so that served to aid in our time killing mission. Overall we prefer the Kirkland location, but we haven't tried the Seattle yet. That'll be next.

Yelp
My fam and I came up to Bellingham last month to celebrate my nephew's birthday and we had a great time playing mini golf at Flatstick! We're regulars at the Flatstick Pubs in Redmond and South Lake Union so it was cool to try a new course. The atmosphere here is chill and clean with plenty of seating for small or big groups. Also, the parking in their lot is free so don't park on the street where you have to pay. Admittedly, the golf course is not quite as fun as at the other Flatsticks because there's no wacky statues by the artist Henry or funny, crazy obstacles, but we still had a great time playing it. The staff here were especially nice, laid back, and friendly. Next time, we will play mini golf AND corn hole outside. We'll be back!

Yelp
I had a fun evening here with friends! We made a reservation, but it didn't seem needed. When we got there, the staff told us we could just head in whenever. (Maybe this was because it was slower.) Had a delicious cider. They have a great variety of local drafts, ciders, and cocktails as well as food - serving pizza whole and by the slice. For $10 for unlimited games, it's a fun experience that is a great night out.

Yelp
Great food! As soon as you walk in you get a friendly welcome. For my first time they gave lots of suggestions, answered all of my questions. The place is so fun and so much to do! I was visiting the area and would highly recommend. If I'm ever back here I will definitely be back. Such a laid back, fun games type of place.

Yelp
As soon as you walk in, you are greeted in a warm and friendly manner. The menu is simple with great pub food choices. There is indoor and outdoors seating with plenty of space to venture to. Food is delicious and served quick. All the drinks are on "tap". About 20 beers to choose from, 4 cocktails and wine choices.

Yelp
Flatstick Pub is a fun place with affordable options for food and drinks. When I was there I appreciated how they had options for beer, cider, and limited cocktails. I enjoyed the scratch margarita. They have seating for both small and larger groups, with lots of options of entertainment from board games, mini golf, special game nights, and more. My experience with the staff was great. My only issue while being there was SO MANY KIDS. I am all for a family friendly bar, but it was a little out of hand when I went. There were kids running all over the place whacking balls and not even playing the games. It was loud and made me & my friends leave earlier than we wanted. I was surprised staff never stepped in to stop it. We never even got to try any of the games. I wasn't expecting to see this on a Friday night. I'm not sure if this happens a lot or not, but that was my experience!

Yelp
I used a Groupon to be here with some friends d the staff was so kind! I am surprised because I thought they only served beer but they actually have cocktails so I ordered a margarita with mango flavoring and it was pretty good! We got pizza too. We got the Bogey and Garlic Cheese bread. It looked just as good as it tasted. Really good pub food and the pizza is brick oven. Sooooo... we came early so there were alot of kids. If you don't want to be around children, come after 9. The mini golf has 9 holes and with so many kids the lines got pretty long to each hole. So it was rather crowded. We will definitely have to try coming after 9 for a smaller crowd. Nothing against children heh. Very clean spot, with board games and other fun little things to do like duffleboard and this game called pockets, which is free. You do have to pay for mini golf, we didn't cause it was included in our Groupon. Had a great night all in all! :)

Yelp
Best lunch deal in the county!!! Just $12 for a slice of delicious pizza, an humongous Caesar salad, and a pint! Every weekday! Oh, and the games are super fun! We enjoy putt putt, pockets and duffel ball! Highly recommend! If you come for the weekday lunch special, the games are typically wide open!

Yelp
I love all Flatsticks and am making it my goal to go to all of them (Spokane and Tacoma are next on my list). On my last visit to Bellingham this one was not yet open, but it's opening was a major reason for my visit this time. This one has a large parking lot and a full menu of both beer and food (pizza type stuff). They all involve mini golf, a great beer list and my favorite local artist Henry. The mini golf is pretty reasonable 8$ for 9 holes and 10$ for unlimited play, where you get a wrist band. This course is 9 holes but can be turned into 18 by playing the 2nd tee areas and going around a 2nd time. I am happy to report I won the game and even made a hole in one. They currently have an extra game where you can do 3 shots on a different hole per beer purchase in an attempt to win swag or money off your beer. Even if you prefer not to pay for mini golf there are a couple free games like dufflepong, duffleboard and pockets. I recommend trying everything if you go. The beer list is really good, with lots of local stuff. The person behind the counter was very knowledgeable and helped us make good choices. Beer prices can add up fast. It was not too crowded early on a Sunday afternoon, but did get busier as the day went on. Do be aware that children are allowed and this seems to be a popular family activity. If I lived closer I would totally join a league.

Yelp
We LOVED it here! The mini golf course www in great condition and there were lots of other bar games, too! We paid $10 for all you can play golf. Great beer selection and very friendly service. We were there in the summer so it wasn't busy at all, but I'm guessing it's popular when the university is in session. I will definitely come here next time I'm in Bellingham!

Yelp
Had such a good time at Flatstick Pub ! Staff was very nice and welcoming gave us a break down of how every works since it was out 1st visit, food and drinks were great as well. I definitely recommend if you want a cool and fun night just to get out and even hang with a group of friends.

Yelp
This place is a lot of fun! We've gone a few times and it's great if you want to have a fun, casual time with friends. We did the mini golf on one visit. You get the full experience of choosing your club, pencil and scorecard. After a round on the astroturf green you can enjoy some pizza and beer. The selection of beverages is quite good, in my opinion. I enjoyed a nice sweet cider. I got a slice of pizza. It wasn't great. It's very salty and even though I got a fancier pizza, it didn't taste like higher quality. On one visit we can here with friends and we played the free games. Even that was quite entertaining. Although they're a new business with room to grow, they are starting off on the right foot. I look forward to my next visit there.

Yelp
My first time and checked it out to drink cider and to play games. Unfortunately I did not win at neither bingo nor mini golf, but I had fun with my company! Friendly and helpful staff, clean common spaces and bathroom, sports on TVs, and easy parking. I'll be back to try some pizza! Also fair warning that this is Cougs territory, so don't be alarmed if you don't see a UW flag. Anyways.

Yelp
Absolutely loved the fries and drinks here. They make margs from scratch and serve in on tap which I highly recommend if you're in the mood for a one and done. They also have really good chicken tenders. The Cajun fries don't lack in old bay, which was an treat. Garlic fries are also great. The cooks will make everything to your preference if you ask! That said, I didn't keep coming back for the fries and drinks. The restaurant has a nice vibe to the place. Plenty of games to play (board games, party games, and of course mini golf). Good for families or for friends looking to have a fun night out. They also have good wifi when I needed to work on my laptop. Reasonable happy hour deals was also a plus. The staff are all very friendly and even when it's busy, efficient and quick. Everyone was welcoming and I made some good memories here. I thought I'd leave a review now that I've moved away.

Yelp
I'm so impressed with this place in their commitment to local beers and siders and Quality drinks. The pizza is amazing and they roast their own peppers. Yeah I miss fear is fun and lively. There's families and a dog and people playing games laughter and yummy food and Quality drinks. A great destinations to have a good time

Yelp
This place is so fun! We originally came in just to grab a drink and play mini golf on a Saturday afternoon to pass some time. We ended up staying 3+ hours, playing all the games and then finding a seat to have more drinks and play a board game. Staff was friendly and helpful, even as the bar ended up pretty busy as time passed.

Yelp
Went for a light dinner and had a great chop salad! It was full of ingredients and lots of flavor. The guy behind the counter, Wolf, was great. Very personable and made a good beer recommendation. Nice!

Yelp
I love this place! Not only is a lot of fun with a variety of games....it has the best pizza on earth. All with thin crust and great toppings including vegetarian options to die for! I love the salad options and other tasty sides like wings and crispy french fries etc etc. The seating is fabulous and spread throughout the space so that you can view all the games and/or participate or sit in a booth on the side lines. Atmosphere is casual and very inviting. The staff is very cheerful and friendly. Every inch of this establishment reeks with fun! It has become my one and only pizza source!!!!!!

Yelp
We recently competed in the Flatatick Pub winter mini golf league and went to Flatstick 5 times (we missed the final week), so I feel like I've got a good handle on this place. The mini golf course consists of 9 holes, with 2 different starting tee areas, so that's how the full 18 holes is played. Compared to other Flatstick locations, the Bellingham's course seems to be pretty small and less exciting than all of the other locations. Each of the league weeks had a different theme, but after a while, it all starts to feel too familiar. There were also several people who have been in the league more than once and take the competition way too seriously, which ended up making the whole experience less fun. I'd say that this place is pretty mediocre overall, but the decent, rotating beer selection is what gave this place its fourth star. If you go just once or twice, you'll probably have a great time!
google avatar

Haley E.

Yelp
Went yesterday with friends to try it out. How fun! They have a ton of adult beverages including cocktails on tap as well as pizzas, salads and other little snacks you can get while there. The place felt clean and there was plenty of seating and parking. We played pockets because there was a large holiday party playing mini golf- really no room for us there. But we will be back!

Yelp
Hey Hey Downtown Bellingham - have you been here yet?! My partner and I come back to town a few times a year to visit family (we both grew up here) and we always take a night to explore some of the newer spots that have sprung up. This one was a blast! They did wonders with this old spot, the decor and set up of the former tenant was so dark - but this is now all windows and has a really open vibe. If you're having a night with a group or want a casual setting for people to mingle and get to know each other I think this is the place. Next time we're in down I'm def getting all my adult siblings together for some friendly competition. From board games to mini golf, there are so many fun activities. PLUS! Local beer and decent pizza. They have a really nice set up to sit outside (get the sunshine while you can, Hamsters!) and I also have to give kudos to the folks on staff. We let them know we had never been before and they gave us a great run down of the place and pointed us in all the right directions. Solid choice for a cute date night or a place to bring the in-laws or a group hang. Big ups for their commitment to small craft beers and local businesses.

Yelp
By far and I mean by FAR the best pizza in Bellingham. It's got that Connecticut style taste. Nice sour dough like crust, great red sauce and cheese. Do yourself a favor and get one of their brick oven pizzas! I honestly don't care for mini golf, but the pizza is phenomenal

Abraham S.

Yelp
Usually love coming here for a night out but came here on a Friday and the place was infested with over a dozen kids ranging from 4-12 years old running around unattended to. Was not a fun time whatsoever. Didn't know this was an arcade for children bruv.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
I went here with my husband on a Sunday. We ordered a pretzel with cheese and the veggie pizza. They have pretty good pizzas but I wasn't fond of the cheese they served with the pretzel. The cheese was served cold.
google avatar

Dylan W.

Yelp
Been there several times. It's just across the street from me. While they don't have a huge selection food-wise (it's a bar with mini-golf, not too surprising), what they do have is great. Honestly some of the best pizza I've had in my life.
google avatar

Lindsey R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Flatstick pub! We went on a Friday night and got to play in a reasonable amount of time. While waiting, we had delicious pineapple cider and a yummy pizza. The pizza was so good that I'd go back there just for that. The golf is fun as always of course! Love Flatstick, welcome to Bellingham!
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
Went there with a couple of friends on a week day and the place was almost empty (which I have no complaints about). The food is typical bar food that got the job done. Would definitely recommend going there for the beer selection and some indoor games and mini golf. Definitely plan on returning in the winter when there's not as much to do outside.
google avatar

Summer S.

Yelp
Super cool place! Great environment and super fun games other than just golf! Jamie was super nice and the pizza was delicious!!

Tina B.

Yelp
Love Flat Stick, a lot of fun! The Manager, Brie, is wonderful, and the Beertender, Jamie, is always friendly and helpful. They make each visit a great experience. The food is great too!

Samuel L.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. A million different ways she could have talked to us but the lady at the front desk was so rude.

Crystal C.

Yelp
It's okay. The beer was yummy and everyone who worked there was friendly and nice. The mini golf was kinda pathetic though. Cramped into a corner and I was expecting a lot more after being to one near Seattle a while back. There were a few other games which were okay but we didn't spend very much time there. We also didn't eat there, so I can't comment on that.
