How to Taste Your Way Through the Napa Valley | Eater

"Fleetwood is a neighborhood spot located in the newly renovated Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa. Its open kitchen, centered around a wood-fired oven, churns out Californian Italian fusion dishes using fresh, local produce. Pull up to its dog-friendly patio and sip on some fresh and fruity cocktails like the strawberry mojito and prickly pear margarita, or grab a bar seat with a full view of its wood-fired oven. Fleetwood also offers a $30 corkage fee if you’d prefer to bring one of your favorite new bottles — just remember, there’s a two bottle maximum per table." - Lee Musho

The 19 Best Restaurants In Calistoga

"Fleetwood is part of the Motor Lodge hotel and sits between the geothermal pools and a giant set of red lips (Rolling Stones style). It definitely makes for an interesting place to lounge, before or after having some of the best wood-fired pizzas in town. The crust comes lightly charred and toppings range from pesto with Italian sausage to Hen of the Woods mushrooms with thyme and truffle fontal. We also get excited about the smoky grilled romaine salad with olive oil-drenched sourdough toast and the overstuffed short rib tortelloni in a rich bolognese sauce. Drop by for a cocktail during Happy Hour (only on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm) for $7 glasses of wine, strawberry lemonade cocktails, and rosemary truffle popcorn. Google
We had breakfast at Fleetwood and beyond the wonderful food, the service truly made the experience special. Our server, Gabriel L., was attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. Not only did he provide excellent recommendations on the menu, but he also made sure our special requests were accommodated, ensuring that our meal was exactly what we wanted. On top of that, he went above and beyond by suggesting great local wineries to visit after our meal.

Google
Pizzas and chopped salad were tasty and portions were good. Gluten free crust on one pizza was great. Service was non-existent. Very few customers. We waited 15 minutes to be approached by a server, 20 minutes later for first dishes to be served. Waited 10 minutes for water bottle to be refilled. Total lack of attention from hostess and wait staff. Too bad because food was good.

Google
The food was so delicious here. The setting is beautiful and they have a fire pit right out back. The chicken, shrimp pasta, and salmon were presented beautifully and very tasty.

Google
Not too busy when we went on a Tuesday night. We did make reservations, though, most of the staff seemed to be expecting us. Great service, great food, and really good cocktails. We should probably try out their pizzas next time.

Laura Hill

Google
Amazing bread and butter appetizer. The bread is toasted in the oven; the butter is whipped with two different choices (and both were absolutely delightful) along with oil and pesto. The pizza is wonderful. Good crust and sauce. The only downfall is the families with their children by the pool, but I chose to sit outside. Inside this wouldn’t be an issue. Highly recommend, and I’m a foodie.

Google
This restaurant is located on the Motor Lodge property and has a spacious outdoor seating area at the back. We visited with some friends who had been there before. The restaurant has two large woodfire ovens, and they make delicious pizzas. We ordered the pepperoni and mushroom pizzas. I decided to try the wild shrimp and artichoke buccatini pasta, which was really tasty. The churros were crispy and delicious, too. I also ordered a strawberry mojito, but it was a bit sour.

Google
Incredible food all around. Best gnocchi I’ve ever had (part of the strip loin meal). Our server Sarah was so sweet and the ambiance is lovely (both inside and outside). We rarely eat at the restaurant in the hotel we’re staying at, but we were struggling to find an enticing “low key” place to eat nearby and the menu here looked fabulous. So glad we did!!!

Yelp
This is the most delicious pizza I've ever had! We ate here two nights in a row. The Bee Sting pizza with the Italian chopped salad was amazing. And the Brussel sprouts to die for! The next night, we ordered the chicken pesto pizza with the chopped salad. Again, scrumptious! Cannolis were crunchy, but lacking in flavor. But the fruit was delicious.

Yelp
Cute newly renovated restaurant located just outside of the downtown Calistoga area. Food tasted good and fresh, service was great and timely. We sat outside and in the evening time string lights beautifully light back the patio area.

Yelp
Second time coming here but only now writing the review. This place has amazing food and super convenient that it's at the same hotel we stayed at. They offer a variety of American food from pizzas to pastas and more. I went with the mushroom pizza and it was fantastic! It had lots of great mushroom pieces and chunks of parmesan. It's a bit thicker on the crust but everything was delicious

Yelp
Loved the open layout of the restaurant and it was aesthetically pleasing. The food was good. The beet salad was amazing and i loved the orange beets which was like a sweeter taste than the purple one, the texture was like a tomato even. I'd return for the salad alone. Service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
My recent visit was our second time. I had good memories of the first time we went. We sat outside and the food was really good. This time was not bad but not amazing, it was a bit meh. The Beesting pizza was the best thing we ordered. The rest of it was just ok, not that memorable. I probably won't return as there are many other options in the area that we haven't tried yet.

Yelp
Last minute road trip led us to staying at this motel with Fleetwood attached to it. We had dinner on our last evening at Fleetwood and were pretty disappointed. The service was not great. One of our entrees was not correct even though the server confirmed after taking our order. By the time my order was corrected my sister had finished eating. The manager was very professional and friendly. However, the server never came back to check on us until we had to pay. The food was good quality, but the server was not up to par. We came to realize this property is under a transition and hopefully they work the kinks out as the location was great!
google avatar

Aiden Y.

Yelp
The beet salad, your wood fired pizzas, and pistachio gelato are wonderful. We loved the live music and chill dogs around the patio. Service was also friendly and lovely.
google avatar

Yelp
Fleetwood was an absolutely amazing experience. I can't recommend this restaurant enough! The wine selection was great, with many nearby vineyard bottles, and everything paired so well. The restaurant is in the middle of a really cute hotel (Calistoga Motor Lodge) and has a very modern and welcoming feel. Chef Mina was absolutely amazing and it was evident she cared about the items on the menu and providing the best experience possible. We order the Beesting pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and hot honey, and a side of braised short rib pasta. If you're near Calistoga, you should definitely visit Fleetwood.
google avatar

Mario T.

Yelp
We started with the frito misto which was good, tasty and fresh and would have been great if it were not for the soggy pieces. The Beet Salad had an excellent balance of acid and sweetness. Definitely a great palette cleanser. We had 2 cheese pizzas that was about perfect for 4 hungry kids. The pepperoni was fine. The pizza's fine. We had the gnocchi and white shrimp pasta and the white shrimp stole the show. Briny, plump shrimp and bright cream sauce without being too tart or too rich. The gnocchi were fine. The patatas bravas were super unique kinda fries potato dumplings. Delicious! The server and host were excellent and attentive. Come here and have a great family meal.
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
I have higher expectations of service staff here because this place and the adjoining hotel are both Hyatt-owned. I expect that meal service would be pleasant and attentive. Unfortunately, the experience still needs much improvement. We had breakfast here twice and both times, it took the server at least 10 minutes to greet us and take our orders. Upon serving after another long wait, we never were checked on again to see if we needed anything. We just had to keep asking for every little item, from water, to glass ware, etc. Please be more proactive, attentive and accommodating to guests, Fleetwood staff. At least the food looked nice, so there's that. Thankfully we also had meal vouchers because $90 for a 2-person breakfast is absurd.

Yelp
New to downtown Calistoga. This place is within a motor inn. Took me the second try to find it. But all is well after. I made a reservation around 6:15pm but got into town earlier. They were able to get me in around 5:15. Very friendly staff. Beet salad was fresh and delicious. Salmon was really really good. Crispy skin yet super tender inside. The side gnocchi was light and pillowy, mixing well with mushrooms. The tiramisu was good. I went with a white wine the waitress recommended and I was happy. Would definitely come back here and likely with kiddos. They all work so hard here and the food is just so good.

Yelp
We decided to try Fleetwood based on Yelp reviews. We were seated outside to enjoy the weather and placed our drinks and food order. My wife got the Buffalo mozzarella pizza and I the salmon. She loved her thin crust offering that had a really good sauce and garnished with fresh basil. The salmon was so tasty, crispy on the outside and the vegetables perfectly complemented the dish. 4.5 stars!
google avatar

Crystal P.

Yelp
Great pizza and chopped salad. Service was outstanding! Cute outdoor area. I only wished there weren't so many kids running around outside.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Unfortunately my $42 sirloin was a sad 4oz thin dry cheap cut of meat, for that price I'd expect the cut to be thicker, this was more in line of a steak dinner you'd get at Denny's with all the fixins for $15.99. My wife who had the burger said it was so bland and again the fries from a frozen sack was reminiscing of something probably from Denny's. It's strange that with a large kitchen and all the staff, why wouldn't fries be cut fresh daily. The service was polite and interior was inviting and clean. Beware when the server asks you for sparkling or still water, the sparkling is a $8 bottle of San Pellegrino, I though it was just sparkling from the soda gun. My fault. I wouldn't go back just based on the quality to price. 80% empty on a Saturday evening 6pm. We couldn't get a reservation at a few other spots around the area.

Yelp
Newly discovered, but has already earned a big place in my heart as my favorite restaurants in Calistoga! Everything from the ambience, drinks, food and service are impeccable! Such a happy feeling here! We ordered the summer 2022 menu and the burrata peach salad is truly the best I've ever had - so well balanced, in salty, sour, sweet, fresh, bitter. Oh dear, I love this item!!! We tried the strawberry Basil lemonade and cucumber mint fizz mixed drinks - strong (based on how buzzed I got) but didn't taste strong, and was very refreshing! There's a large indoor dining space as well as super nice outdoor space with heaters and wide range of seating options from quaint two seaters to big family tables. I also noticed they had private room options. Service was very thoughtful! They proactively brought heaters closer and offered blankets when they noticed the winds picked - all without prompting, that's really considerate and I appreciated it! Plenty of dedicated parking upfront.

Yelp
Our first stop on our trip. Bartender was nice and drinks were very well made. A ton of vegan options Pizza was awesome. Salad was fresh Our server was very nice. Very chill and relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant is walking distance from Four Seasons.

Yelp
Solid food with reasonable prices in the touristy Calistoga food scene. Cioppino (4.5/5) was solid, the broth was delish & thick instead of watery like most places. It was hearty & loaded with seafood: mostly fish and some shrimp, clams, mussels...all deshelfed. The only version thats superior is tardish Grill. It also came with buttery sough dough bread. Burrata with grilled peach was good, but prob needed more seasonings (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc..). It also came with good salad & more sour dough bread. Bucatini pasta was excellent and loaded with lots of mussels & clams, with Italian sausage to boot. The sauce was lighter yet provided enough creamy texture. The weather was perfect & most guests opted for outdoor dining. There was a nice open dining area inside.
google avatar

Earlene C.

Yelp
Jose took amazing care of us by the pool! Corked the wine we brought, super attentive and speedy service. We had a pitcher of margaritas and a BLT which was the best BLT I've ever had! The margarita was also delicious.
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
After what feels like years of saying we'd give this a try we finally made it to Fleetwood and we were pleasantly surprised. Don't let the old converted motor lodge fool you. The moment you step into the restaurant you'll feel a much more contemporary almost urban ambiance. We've eaten here twice now and both time the food was excellent. Simple, shareable and delicious. We've had some incredible salads and both pizza's we've ordered were fantastic. The service has been great, pleasant and not overly in your face. All in all a nice casual spot to grab a meal in Calistoga. Our only complaint, the hours. We've wanted to come several times but not opening until 5pm can be limiting, particularly for a spot that does pizza's. We'd love to be able to come more for apps and a quick bite after a day of wine tasting.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
Sweet, festive, romantic meal that we'll remember for a long time. We shared the bee sting pizza and white pizza with garlic confit. I've always loved the combo of sweet and savory so these were perfect for my palate. Cheers to the staff who made the meal a highlight of our trip!

Yelp
Working in Calistoga can consist of long hours, especially when you work for one of the most amazing hotel resorts in the world. And I will admit, Fleetwood became one of our go to's after work as it 1) avoids touristy prices 2) offers high quality food 3) shares a lively and family friendly ambiance and 4) has an wonderful team. If these aren't enough to get you to go, let me share that the foods come out in a much more timely manner than you think and will always lead to great conversations with you and the people you dine with. I cannot rave about one thing without raving about another. And their seasonal items are a must try. One of my personal favorites is their burrata and pickled vegetables. Next time you find yourself in Calistoga, I think you should treat yourself at Fleetwood.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
What a delicious spot to go to. I loved the ambiance inside and outside. My friend and I both tried the drink special which was amazing. The steak was perfect and the sides were also equally delicious. (I could have had a whole plate of any of those sides ) The pasta was good but if I had to pick between that and the steak, I would go steak by a smidge. Overall great service and would recommend to anyone !
google avatar

Roshni S.

Yelp
Service- INCREDIBLE. Everyone here was so nice & warm making the dining experience extra cozy. Food- as a vegetarian the options were slim but I loved the pizza & beet salad. The pasta was lacking in flavor. Id stick to the pizzas and apps here. Loveeeeed the beet salad. Wine- so yummy! We loved the suggested bottle pairing and overall loved the vibe. Would love to come back one day!
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
This is a lovely place to eat. The service was great, the food was great, and you could tell that it was made with a lot of love. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, which are both lovely for any season.
google avatar

Jessie H.

Yelp
What a great little restaurant! My friend and I arrived to napa late after a long day of driving and wanted something local and easy. We were staying across the street at the UpValley Inn so we decided to just walk across the street for dinner. We were so pleasantly surprised! The ambience was amazing! The outdoor patio seating was so cute and well decorated and lit. The food was SO good! We really enjoyed everything, and had the best dinner! If you need a nice, cozy, delicious meal, look no further!
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
If you're looking for some great food in a fun and modern atmosphere, Fleetwood is the place. We came here on a Friday night and we're very lucky to be seated almost immediately! Menu is simple (which I like) and there are plenty of cocktails, beer, and wine to choose from. I ordered the harvest punch cocktail which was amazing! Water is served in some really cute glass bottles, and plenty of drinks to choose from. Our group ordered pretty much a little bit of everything. For starters we ordered the cioppino and meatballs. Both were delicious. Ciopinno comes with toasted bread and all seafood is already de shelled. Easy to eat. Extremely flavorful! We all pretty much licked the plate dry. We also ordered the short rib tortolloni, the salmon, and the grilled strip loin. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! Perfectly cooked, so flavorful!!! Dessert we had the cannoli, which was also amazing as well. Highly recommend this place!!!
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
Great service! Welcomed with smiles and hellos. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful. Pizza had a nice crust. Star was the bolognese, meaty, flavorful and we dipped all our crusts in it. Good selection of local wines, nice to see wines from the previous day of tastings.
google avatar

Jessika Y.

Yelp
Loved the restaurant! My boyfriend and I ended up having both meals here! I love a chilaqiiles for breakfast! We ended up sharing a pizza and pasta for dinner. So delicious! Wish we lived closer but glad we found this gem
google avatar

Bryan J.

Yelp
Nothing blew me away. Pretty simple prepared dishes with ok plating. They have an amazing wood fired oven and I feel like they're not doing it justice with the way the dishes are presented and cooked. Lots of potential.
google avatar

Tara W.

Yelp
Good tasted good but did not have service that was consistent and dishes came out at all different times, felt rushed and it was not acknowledged that we had a reservation for our wedding anniversary. Wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
I gotten take out pizza from here before and that was definitely better than their brunch. I got the chilaquiles and it was pretty bland. The espresso martini was decent, but nothing spectacular. I loved the ambiance of the place, it's very welcoming and the fact that there is a ton of parking. However, the service is not great. The host was nice however it took so long for us to even get some water, then we had to ask for it again before they poured us some. There was only two other parties however the bar tender was busy just talking to his colleagues so our drinks took a while before they were even made...

Giuseppe G.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant but poorly managed The food is nothing special and due to staff shortage the all experience was negative Not what you might expect from a Calistoga eatery Too bad because that place has potential!!
google avatar

Hope B.

Yelp
What a good find. Again, thank you Yelp! We were spending the day in the Napa Valley and wanted to eat somewhere we haven't eaten before. We found this place through Yelp. It's a little hard to find because it's not a stand alone building but is in the same complex as Calistoga Motor Lodge. There was plenty of private and curbside parking and the place is huge. There's a lot of tables inside and even more outside. You can definitely smell the smoke from the wood fired oven. I ordered the chicken breast on polenta, onions and spinach. The chicken was so tender and really well seasoned. The onion was really sweet and the polenta was creamy really good. My wife ordered the salmon with fingerlings on cauliflower cream. The salmon was cooked medium well (what my wife wanted) and it was tender and seasoned nicely. The cauliflower sauce was also foos as it added a nice flavor. Our side order of Brussels sprouts was ok. It was cooked nicely but we didn't particularly like the way it was seasoned. Overall a great experience. We recommend this place.
google avatar

Sijie Z.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel for a weekend trip, had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast is amazing, I love the omelette! But the dinner is just soso. They have limited choices, and the Brussels sprouts were a little burnt yet still hard to chew. My husband ordered the squid ink pasta, which was good, will recommend.
google avatar

Ric P.

Yelp
On the cusp about here. The food is good, but the balance (or lack of) service, screaming kids, staff rolling buy you with dirty linen baskets and vacuums while sitting outside is truly not the vibe you want while having a early dinner. Management needs to revaluate their setup. The potential is there!!!!

Denise E.

Yelp
The food was good. The service was nonexistent. They barely took our order. Someone else brought the food and then no one ever came back to the table for anything. My husband finally went to the bar and got a glass of wine. No one brought the bill so we had to go to the bar to ask for our bill. We won't be back and we will not recommend it to anyone. It's a shame. We have come before and had a great time. Another restaurant off the list of choices in Calistoga.

Gazi K.

Yelp
"Fleetwood Wood Fire Pizza Restaurant: Where Flavor Takes the Wheel! Situated in the heart of Calistoga, this pizza haven is a must-visit for anyone seeking a taste sensation that leaves an impression as lasting as its name especially their special pizza for fallen omg . It's unbelievable Fired to Perfection, Fleetwood's wood-fired oven is the star of the show, infusing each pizza with a smoky, charred essence that elevates the crust to a crispy masterpiece. Freshness First, Quality reigns supreme here. Every ingredient, from the vine-ripened tomatoes to the premium cheeses and locally sourced produce, exudes freshness, making each slice a celebration of taste. Beyond the Classics, While they pay homage to pizza's timeless classics, Fleetwood isn't afraid to push culinary boundaries. The 'Woodland Delight' with its wild mushroom medley and truffle oil is a testament to their innovation. Wine Wonderland ,The wine selection is a connoisseur's dream, thoughtfully chosen to complement the pizza. The staff's expertise ensures a perfect pairing for every palate.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
Fleetwoods has a casual ambience, with a friendly staff.....BUT there's a $30 dollar corkage!!.......that they bury in the fine print. Come on! There are only a handful of ritzy restuarants that insist on ripping thier patrons off with that kind of corkage fee. Fleetwood should NOT want to be amongst them.
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
Everything from service to drinks to all the food: apps to dessert was amazing! We are off the restaurant week menu and the portions were extremely generous. We had the sopa de ajo was amazing. I had grilled chicken breast which was cooked perfectly. It was served with some balsamic marinated onions which were so good I could eat an entire plate for dinner. Dessert was a divine chocolate mousse/ cake that was very rich and the perfect end to a meal. Our server Gisselle was amazing. She was so busy but stopped by often always with a huge smile.
google avatar

Maribel G.

Yelp
I came here a few days ago and it was not my first time here. I been here once before and the food seemed to be better the first time. This time I came for my birthday dinner and the service and food was pretty bad. I ordered a blackberry mojito and it was really sour and strong. I took one sip and could not drink more than that. I let our waitress Anna know and she didn't seem to care. Most places would offer a replacement drink or take it off your tab. Well not this place. $17 down the drain for a drink I never drank. And it was my birthday that day too. We ordered appetizers and dessert and it wasn't that great either. The best thing I had was probably the romaine salad and the cannoli. I would say I would not be coming back to this restaurant due to the lack of customer service of Anna. She didn't seem to care and barely even came to our table. We still left a tip because I'm not rude. But my husband and I left completely unsatisfied.
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
As a local, I love going here and either dining in or getting to go food. The food is very good and sometimes quite creative too. The staff is all very charming and the ambience is both warm and hip Some really nice wines on the wine list however, it would be nice for us locals if they had some that were more moderately priced It's always a bummer when your wine bill is the same as the food bill which is ridiculous. In the winter dining indoors or at the bar is fabulous and there are a few better places in the Napa Valley, then outdoors at Fleetwood during the summer If you are a guest here, don't worry about the fact that the restaurant is in a hotel it's not operated like that and it sure doesn't feel like that. It's a real restaurant.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Service is ok. Food is good. Pizza is ok not great. This restaurant is very family friendly. A casual spot for dinner

shirley l.

Yelp
Beautiful modern decor. Good drinks and sitting area inside and outside. Friendly staff. Food was so so. Casual dining..

Yelp
Great service, delicious pasta , beets salad, tiramisu! Nice patio with music and big tables Highly recommend

Jim G.

Yelp
Very good pizza and friendly service. Ordered an Old Fashioned that was excellent. Definitely will visit again when we are in the area.
google avatar

Toby D.

Yelp
This place is a little outside of the cute downtown Calistoga. You would have to drive. Fleetwood is a cute place to go visit but left us a bit wanting. The pastas were very good but our starter was bland and the tiramisu had one side frozen and the other warm so it was an odd eat. Service was either under trained or not in a good mood.
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. The buffalo mozzarella pizza's crust was dry and sauce was salty. The Brussels sprouts were not crispy and overly sauced with buffalo sauce. The baby mussel and Italian sausage pasta was salty. The service and ambience was great. Just don't go for the food.
google avatar

Donald H.

Yelp
First time in Calistoga and wanted to try something new for Easter. Food was amazing, service was great and the downtown area a mile away was really fun to explore. We'll be back for my birthday in a couple weeks
google avatar

Dave T.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place... 1st time there. upon entering, the bar and dining area were very spacious and open. They have an outside location where you can listen to live music. The floors were hardwood, which contributed to enhancing noise, and they weren't all that busy. The bathrooms were so small! Unisex and the space for the toilets was maybe 24" wide. Good luck if you are a larger person. Service was prompt and courteous. They leave a carafe of water for refills. Looking over the menu found a few items of interest. We ordered a Spring salad, Roasted Asparagus, Fire-roasted meatballs and the Short Rib Tortelloni. The spring salad was OK, though Zi didn't have any of it. The asparagus was good. Had a bit of smoke to it, but many of them were only 1/8" in dia. which made them kinda hard to eat. The meatballs were cold. They were much smaller than what we saw in their Yelp photos. Just expected them to be warmer or actually hot. The Tortelonni was a mix. The pasta was perfect and the meat sauce was good. I found the short rib filling was dry and rather tasteless. I suppose I should say the review should be a 3 1/2 star experience, not 3... Perhaps another time we'll try again...
