Floodwater, a New Gastropub in Mill Valley, Will Serve Jewish Deli Favorites | Eater SF

"Opening November 29 in Mill Valley, Floodwater is the newest venture from some of the teams behind Buckeye Roadhouse and Fog City, taking over the former Frantoio Ristorante space at 152 Shoreline Highway. The concept centers on gastropub fare using local, seasonal ingredients, and marks a comeback for chef Michael Siegel; the menu pairs typical pub items like chicken wings, stone oven pizza, and burgers with Jewish deli standards such as chicken matzo ball soup and a “Shorty’s Reuben” made with Snake River Farms corned beef. Julian Cox—known from the Tartine Manufactory opening team—has created the cocktail menu, the bar will feature eight wines on tap plus local craft beers by draft and bottle and an extensive wine list, and the restaurant will be one of the few in the area open until midnight every night (Mon–Fri 5 p.m.–midnight; Sat–Sun 10 a.m.–midnight) with a limited late-night menu from 10 p.m. to midnight. The huge 7,200-foot space seats 240 across five dining areas (names include the “Board Room” and “Den”), centers on a 30-seat bar under wood-trussed ceilings with five large-screen TVs, and offers an outdoor dining area protected by glass walls, heaters, and fire pits." - Eve Batey

I am from out of town. Stopped in to watch the Steelers game. Pleased to see they had the NFL package. And, some Steelers fans! I had a couple of Bo Pils beers, excellent! The hummus was fantastic. The pita bread was toasted perfectly. The chicken tortilla soup was some of the best I ever had, except there was no chicken in it. But, the broth was genuinely some of the best broth in a soup I’ve ever had. Home made. Not overly salty. Pretzels were filling and delicious, the mustard sauces were perfect, especially the stone ground mustard.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn next door so we stopped in for a pizza & drinks. We also tried the Calamari and pierogies and everything was delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was really friendly and provided good service. The food was served hot and quickly.

Google
I don't know why this is mixed with old floodwater reviews. Tam Tavern is much improved. Burger is a double smash burger with perfectly fried fries. Excellent and good sized (not the teeny tiny floodwater one). Veggie shepherd pie was a very good version. Filling and tasty. Beer, of course, is great.

Google
Really cool place with a cool vibe!! Loved all of the billiards, darts, shuffle board etc. Great place to watch sports on the many big TVs. Good beer and food! The cheeseburger was great and the wings. However, the bbq burger was too tall for my husband to eat and it got very messy! He would have preferred the regular cheeseburger.

Google
Lots of options on the menu, which was veryyyy convenient! Server was friendly, and the restaurant itself was nice! Perfect atmosphere for families or groups of friends. The sliders we ordered were very good, however the garlic fries were soggy and dissapointing (no garlic taste). Mexican Salad was ok (meat was good) but lots of leaves and not too many toppings. Overall our experience was good!!

Google
Really liked the Salsiccia pizza, pretzels were also good too. It did seem a bit pricey, but considering it was walking distance from our stay at the Holiday Inn it was with not having to drive. The real standout was Steven's amazing service, he was friendly and attentive which was an especially nice change considering and of the more lackluster service we've received at other places in the Bay area. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area again!

Google
Marin's premier sports bar experience awaits you at this incredible establishment! With TV screens strategically placed for optimum viewing pleasure, including outdoor seating, you won't miss a moment of the action. The food selection is simply outstanding, offering a wide variety of mouthwatering options. During my recent visit for lunch, I was blown away by the exceptional quality. I'm already planning to return for future sports games or casual hangouts with friends to enjoy more of their delectable dishes and refreshing drinks. Personally, I highly recommend trying their fantastic pizza with spicy sausage, as well as the delightful warm winter salad with chicken.

Google
First time going with wife since it was Flood Water. Food a solid 4. Server we had very good. As far as atmosphere, a bit loud and waaaay too many young screaming kids playing and running around for a “Tavern”. We arrived at our reset time of 630pm and at 720pm a hostess walked up while we were still enjoying our drink and told us he needed the table for another person. We were a bit taken aback that table needed to be turned in under 50 minutes. We cancelled our drink order and the waiter apologized but covered the drink and gave it to go. On the way out my wife spoke with Alicia the manager to advise what happened and she said their hostess was wrong and sincerely apologized. After we left, I got a voicemail from Alicia again apologizing and told us she would cover our meal. This was very nice and therefore rated a 4 star rather than a 1 or 2. My think this place might be fun so long as it does turn into a glorified pizza parlor with screaming kids running around. Just my opinion.

Yelp
Ambiance - classier sports bar than just beer and TVs, an excellent playlist, a now enclosed patio for dog friendly dining and an overall good vibe to meet with friends even if you don't want to watch the game. Service - is attentive but not aggressive. Cocktails are well crafted and it's nice to have East Brother have a showcase for their many excellent styles of beer. Food - The menu is elevated sports bar, in the two times we've dined here since reopening, the solid go back to is the ribeye French dip sandwich, served with French fries. We started both times with the bar pretzel which is easily shared by two, this time we added the potato pancakes, fried just right (my partner thought they needed salt but he has a salt tooth). Other recent reviews that mention the smash burger note that the bottom bun is soggy, I concur (but I liked the grind and flavor) so I opted for the fish and chips this time, again fried perfectly, the batter crunched nicely with each bite. I don't mind the vinegar served alongside, found it easy to dip along with the housemade tartar sauce and French fries. Overall, I like this establishment for both drinking and eating, maybe the burger needs a little tweaking but the menu is inviting, the portions good sized and the food pairs well both with their cocktails and the beers. If you want more than the standard sports bar, this is a good experience and we will return.

Yelp
Tam Tavern feels very similar to the old Floodwater--same general vibe, just with a slightly more casual staff and a new menu. The location is great, but the parking situation really should be better. Just know: it's not cozy or intimate. It still has that "sports bar from the past" energy, with pool, air hockey, tons of TVs, and a patio with a beer-garden feel. It also still has that hotel-restaurant atmosphere, but not quite in the appealing way you'd hope. The food was solid overall. The fried chicken was much spicier and saltier than expected, the Niçoise salad was pretty good, and the French dip was hearty. They do have a strong beer selection. Dessert, however, was disappointing--only three frozen options, none of which were worth it. The banana split was overly sweet with artificial-tasting red sauce, the "tiramisu" felt like a frozen cup, and the ice cream was just... ice cream. There's potential here, but a few upgrades--parking, atmosphere, and the dessert menu--would go a long way.

Yelp
Love this spot -- but the FOOD NEEDS RESCUING fast!!! We were big fans of Floodwater, so we were excited to try Tam Tavern. Sadly, everything about the food has really slipped. Ingredients taste cheaper and the execution feels mediocre at best -- more greasy spoon than gastropub. The double smash burger had decent flavor, but the cheese was an overwhelming goopy mess, the bun got soggy, and the meat tasted like lower-grade grocery store beef. One bite was pure crunchy gristle. At $22, I'd rather smash two Super Duper burgers together any day of the week. The Mediterranean salad was forgettable -- except they forgot the olives, which made it not forgettable. The Brussels sprouts used to be delicious. Tonight, ours were dry. The addition of caramelized bacon made the dish more confusing and disappointing. Corn dogs are now a bit spicy and less juicy - so kids no longer inhale them. And the pizza tastes like a store-bought rising crust (very similar to Costco). The standout: the French Dip -- good flavor balance and solid au jus, though the meat still isn't premium. Here's the thing: we'll probably still come -- because the space is awesome. Four distinct seating areas (main dining, back lounge/den, game room, and outdoors) make it a perfect family hangout and one of the best meetup spots. But right now, people will come for the venue... and make the best of the food. We're genuinely rooting for Tam Tavern -- please invest in higher-quality ingredients and execution. This place could be great again with some intentional improvement.

Yelp
I've been here a few times already with my kids. They really liked the pizza and steak! I had a salad and wine. My salad was great. I thought overall the food has been an upgrade from the previous place. I like what they did to the outdoor area as it seems more usable and I can let my little ones run around. Looking forward to adding this place more into my family rotation!

Yelp
What a welcome addition to Mill Valley! Sports bar with plenty of big screen tvs- check! Lively beer garden with occasional live music - check! Delicious beer + cocktails - check check! Game room with pool table, shuffleboard, fussball - check check check! And most importantly, delicious food and a fun vibe. Highly recommend: -- The Schnitzel (who else in Marin does authentic German schnitzel, red cabbage and spaetzle?). -- The Double Smashburger -- the Pizzas (if you're a carnivore, definitely order the Molinari Meats!). -- the Beer Battered Fish & Chips -- Bavarian Pretzel with stout beer cheese and mustard -- Saigon wings While all of the above may sound like something you wouldn't want to share with your cardiologist, they have lighter options as well. Their salads are surprisingly fresh, delicious and satisfying (I'm partial to the grilled chimichurri steak). And I'm a fan of their hummus plate with Z'aatar flatbread, and their potato pancakes. While I miss Floodwater's ruben sandwich, Tam Tavern's French Dip is a worthy substitute. The staff is friendly and efficient; the pricing is reasonable; and it's both family-friendly + dog-friendly. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but aside from that... this place is a winner! Looking forward to exploring more of their menu + Game Day fun.

Yelp
I wanted to love Tam Tavern. We hadn't tried it since it switched over from Floodwater & ordered food to go. We got the smashburger with added bacon & the Cubano. Both came with fries. The burger was better before, & the bottom bun was all soggy. The Cubano was pretty good, I really enjoyed that. The fries were better before as well. But my main comment here, & it's one you will NEVER catch me using, was TOO MUCH SALT!! I love salt, add it to everything, but the fries were too salty as was the burger.

Yelp
Great service, the venue looks great. And the food was delicious. We had the garlic fries and pineapple pizza. The bartender was very good and made a perfect margarita. 5/5

Yelp
I was craving a beet salad on the way home from Stinson and Floodwater came up with strong reviews. We stopped by with our pup and sat on the outside patio with an umbrella. Started off with the blonde ale and the what a melon cocktail. Our server was a bit rude to start as my husband asked his opinion between two beers and the guy just said "they're two completely different things".... It made it so awkward! We ordered the sliders, garlic fries, and a pizza in addition to the salad. The sliders were the best thing we ordered. The pizza was fine, the beet salad was fine, the fries were nice and crunchy and the ketchup was good- but the sliders were the most tasty. Overall I think the servers weird attitude at the start kind of set things off downhill pretty early on. I enjoyed the dining atmosphere otherwise and the other staff members were friendly.

Yelp
Our insights: -Good servings and easy access if you are staying in HIEx Mill Valley. We went an all day excursion to explore the city and once we got back to the hotel, we were starving. Since we were tired, this restaurant is definitely on the right spot.

Yelp
Two stars is about all it is due. I'm an accomplished cook, so I have certain expectations about food. For example, roasted cauliflower should be browned and caramelized. It should also be crisp tender. It should be made from fresh cauliflower not frozen. The roasted cauliflower at Tam Tavern was none of these things. What we were served was clearly frozen cauliflower that had been microwaved and drizzled with curry catsup. (Which I suspect was from a bottle.). It was a mushy mess. No browning - just white. All I needed was an immersion blender to make faux-tatoes. So we started the meal with an F. We followed the cauliflower with the fish and chips which redeemed the kitchen. It wasn't the best fish and chips that I've ever eaten, but it was certainly solid. The batter was crisp, not greasy, and fully cooked - nothing worse than pockets of raw batter. The fish was properly done. I was disappointed that they choose to serve the malt vinegar in a small sauce container since it really made it hard to control the amounts used. (Although there are those who would disagree, but dipping fish of this sort into a small container is difficult at best.) The chips were fine. Not spectacular, but good. We gave our entrees a B. Overall we rated our dinner a D. (Two stars.) I expect more from a chef who has won a Michelin award. The restaurant is new and probably having growing pains so hopefully things in the kitchen will improve in time. The staff we interacted with were all very pleasant. The grassy area is a nice touch. Certainly an improvement over the many places that think people are interested in dining in a dust patch.

Yelp
I walked in about 4 minutes before their "soft grand opening" and the staff was warm and welcoming. Apparently I'm officially their first customer. Lol! I can say this place is gorgeous, the menu looks incredibly inviting and the staff are fantastic (actually recognized a few from Playa and other local haunts). I can tell already I'll be a regular - I've been desperate for a nice sports bar/gastro-pub/restaurant in Marin County and this place checks all the boxes.

Yelp
I made reservations for a Sunday night at 6 pm. It was fairly empty, so we didn't need reservations. I felt like our waiter didn't know how to read our table. We were still catching up and didn't even look at the menu. She had to come back several times because we weren't ready. She would also try to clear plates when we were clearly still picking on them. For drinks, we got the raspberry limeade and the pineapple spritz. Both were very sweet and needed to be watered down. We got the pork belly steamed buns and the Caesar salad to start. The buns were soggy like they microwaved it with a wet paper towel. The Caesar salad had too much dressing and wasn't evenly tossed. For our mains, we got the pan-seared petrale sole and the cheeseburger. The sole was on the sweeter side and the burger was good. It came with thick fries. We ended with the chocolate chip cookie (their take on the pizookie). I wish it came with a bigger scoop of ice cream. Good atmosphere, not too loud. They were playing sports on the TVs.

Yelp
The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night. It's a cool little spot low-key you can dress however you show up and feel comfortable. Nice bar and great food. BUT our waiter NEVER came back to the table to check in, no drink refills, no opportunity to ask for condiments, nor extra napkins etc. I only expect the bare minimum... but I spent a lot $$$ on dinner, I feel like we could have had better service. We would have loved a second cocktail, and the kids would have loved a refill on their soda.

Yelp
I lived in Marin for years and this was my first time here. We showed up on Superbowl Sunday with no reservation and managed to get a rail seat! It was perfect timing and a perfect afternoon. We didn't try any food but enjoyed drinks and the huge TVs! The ambiance was great, my bloody was amazing and the vibe for the game was fun. Our server was very attentive and kept his cool through the rush during the game. I would definitely return when I'm back in town.

Yelp
Food is solid. Cocktails are too. Service was friendly and accommodating. It was busy on Tuesday and they had just opened 5 days earlier. They are off to a strong start. The menu is different than Floodwater's but familiar at the same time. I had the French dip and fries but miss the Reuben that was on the menu from Floodwater. That Reuben was so dang good. My only ding is that I did not enjoy paying $5 for valet parking plus tip (parking in the same spaces that were free when they operated as Floodwater). It would also be great if they could add some veggie sides to the menu.

Kevin F.

Yelp
Came here the week they opened and it was great. Just went back and had a completely different experience. Ordered the fired chicken which is supposed to be bungalow 44 chicken and it was nothing like it. It was terrible. And weeks earlier it literally was bungalow fried chicken. Ordered the burger and was completely different than it was weeks earlier. Terrible. They forgot the kids food. The French dip was good will say. Everything else no good. Will not be back for a while.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Tam Tavern x East Brother Beer just opened this week, and I was blown away. The owners of Floodwater teamed up with the East Brother Beer crew to create the perfect pub-meets-tavern casual restaurant that this area was missing. The food was fantastic across the board--think wood-fired pizza, Cubano, truffle fries, pretzel, and of course a classic brat--paired with a full selection of East Brother Beer, wine, and cocktails. The space has been beautifully refreshed with a cozy, relaxed vibe that makes it easy to linger longer than planned, and the new outdoor area is such a fun addition. On top of that, the staff was incredible--warm, friendly, and genuinely excited to welcome everyone in. Thrilled to have a new go-to spot in Mill Valley!

Bree S.

Yelp
I got the buffalo wings they had a different sweet flavor did not enjoy them. Everyone else liked their food

Yelp
Hi friends I had the good fortune to find out Tam Tavern would have a soft opening before the grand opening tonight (Friday 9/19) The food is really good...it's a new and different menu from before. The pizza is to die for (but don't). The East Brother beer is also very good. Wish i lived a little closer, but i will definitely be back before too long.

Stacy S.

Yelp
Wow they did an amazing job modernizing this place! We've been to multiple games here and love it - though it's been a bit uneven on staff and food timing - we like the idea so much it's a 5 for us hoping they will grow with the volume they are getting. Really amazing food. Elevated game day experience.
google avatar

Corey S.

Yelp
Great sports bar with great food and drinks. Good service also. Big place, plenty of seating. Come on down and watch a game or just grab a bite

Mike Z.

Yelp
Really want to like this place as they have an excellent setup for a sports bar and good beer. The food is another story and they need to work on it. Got the fried chicken (2 pieces plus mash potatoes and cole slaw). First warning sign was that my meal came out in less than 5 minutes. Mash potatoes were excellent, cole slaw was meh but who cares, but the fried chicken had obviously been sitting around awhile....meat was tough, dry, overcooked. So disappointing. I have also had an order of their wings on a previous visit that were tiny, expensive, and not that great. Hopefully they up their food game and soon because I would like this to be a great spot.
google avatar

Derek S.

Yelp
Really nice sports bar, lots of space, solid food and lots of tvs. It's upscale and unique for Marin which doesn't have a lot of this. Location is ok but the parking is really problematic - very limited especially during 49ers games. But I'd definitely recommend! Service was pretty attentive but definitely slowed towards the end of the game.

Yelp
Found this gem of a place while traveling back home. I was out of town working on a project, so I stayed in mill valley. This place is located next to the beautiful holiday inn next door. I tried the pizza and had 3 of their beers. Definitely amazing food and the beer was great as well. Will definitely stop by next time. I'm around the area.
google avatar

Yelp
got there for lunch on a weekend. Very happy with the food selection and food but the noise level was tough to deal with. really nice to have things to entertain kids while adults chat.
google avatar

Sha G.

Yelp
A nice spot to catch a game, eat well, and of course have a nice drink. The pizza is always a hit as they have a wood burning oven. The cocktails are made with care to wash it all down. Service is working hard every time I'm there. Kudos to the bar staff who are incredibly speedy and thoughtful.

Yelp
We had a large party reserved for a birthday celebration. The service was subpar, the waiter seemed irritated to be waiting on a large table. He refused to split the check for us and scoffed when we asked - we sat for an extra 10-15 minutes itemizing the bill. Side note: $3 per person for a cake fee even if the restaurant does not cut the cake or provide plates, automatic 20% gratuity added for large parties, and a 4% livable wage tax. The food was alright. I did not particularly enjoy their Mac n Cheese or their Funghi Pizza. However, the latkes were delicious! Also the bartender made an INCREDIBLE Kill Bill Margarita! This gave me the impression this restaurant is more of a bar food joint. I truly felt the food was overpriced for the quality received. I can't say I'm dying to come back. I would come here again for appetizers and drinks but was ultimately disappointed in their entrees.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
The FOOD!! The menu offers the most BIZARRE type of foods and their NOT EVEN GOOD!! Bratwurst was dry and the sauerkraut was terrible!! Nothing NEW there except the blue paint on the walls!! FIX YOUR FOOD!! The selection is terrible!!!

Yelp
Everything was just okay. Okay food, okay service and okay ambiance. Not bad just nothing to bring me back again.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 star (rounding up to 4) sports bar in Mill Valley. I was concerned pulling up to this place seeing as it looks to be part of a Holiday Inn Express, but was happy to find it doesn't seem to be affiliated outside of the shared parking and similar exterior design. The interior was large with a great ambiance/atmosphere (probably the best thing going for this place). I wasn't overtly impressed with the beers on tap as most are "standard" for the area, but they did have a decent number which is what I'd expect from this type of establishment. The food was okay; mostly fried / bar style - which is fine if that is what you're in the mood for -- good portion sizes at reasonable prices (given it's Marin). Service was fine; nothing spectacular but also not terrible. I'd come here again if in the area and wanting that sports bar/tavern vibe.

Frances M.

Yelp
Staff friendly and efficient. Pizzas and Bavarian pretzels are excellent. Happy hour menu is very limited, need more options for starters and cocktails. Should bring back meze plate, smash burger, pretzel. Desert menu very disappointing, should bring back brownie sunday. Outdoor ambience disappointing. The biggest mistake is the new valet parking. Everyone I have talked to said they will not go back if they have to pay for parking.

Yelp
For a hot moment after Floodwater opened it seemed to generate a lot of buzz but that moment wore off and it's now not a place I hear anything about, ever. This made me interested to try it for a recent happy hour. Clearly, they were still in business so they must be doing something right. Advance research indicated that they had a decent happy hour offering (M-F 4-6PM) so I arranged a visit around that and found myself well-satisfied by their Smash Burger, mini-corn dogs, fries, Vietnamese wings, and a Chicken Slider. Though the offerings were good, the array of fatty foods left me feeling like I'd spent a day at the county fair. Floodwater was neat, clean, and quiet and my observation was that they need a whole lot bigger crowd to fill the space and give it an energy it was very much lacking on this visit. Still, it struck me as a good place to watch sports (many TVs) and an even better place to play table-shuffleboard or pool. Though I wasn't wowed by anything going on at Floodwater the friend I'd been there with recently suggested we return and it's an offer I'm up for. Sometimes fatty happy hour food and cocktails in a nice, clean space are all that's required when watching the Giants or shooting pool.

Yelp
I'm a fan. This is a great spot to go watch a game and eat some good bar food, play billiards, sit by a fire, and have a chill date. It's also super random because it's attached to a Holiday Inn Express in the middle of nowhere in Mill Valley. So, you need to be super intentional or super accidental to find this place. Anyway, the setup in fun. The vibe is lively. Lots of tvs. Lots of bar seating. Reservations inside or outside. Pool tables. Some loungy couch seating mixed in, as well. You can wear what you want, but it's sporty casual. Don't sleep on the menu, though. They may hVe chicken wings and fries and other gametime staples, but this menu is next level. Those Vietnamese fried chicken wings are a MUST HAVE. So many different flavors and textures, and they are delicious. The ajax fries are nice, but I wouldn't write home about them. Here's a hack: You can order plain fries and save money. As for the Peruvian tuna crudo, the leche de tigre left a bit to be desired. It just wasn't sour enough for my taste, but it was an okay dish. I just wouldn't order it again. Great drink menu, and the bartender will also do custom drinks if you have a Go-To (whiskey sour) . The staff is super friendly and helpful. There's a decent amount of parking. We'll be back!

Jacob E.

Yelp
The burger is great with there bone marrow spread. The fries are crispy. The lemonade is homemade. It is a great place to watch NFL games on Thursdays and Sundays.
google avatar

Ron Y.

Yelp
Service was great and the food was excellent, I had the burger and fries! All good! It was very convenient Nextdoor to the Holiday Inn.

Alex M.

Yelp
It seems like the customer service is getting worse . Just because they are by a hotel and people have nowhere else to go to get food . Pretty disappointed. Expensive for what type of dish they are providing. At least 3 employees passed me and only one asked if I needed help and then walked passed me . To do nothing. Don't waste your time and money at this establishment
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing experience having cocktails at Floodwater! Shoutout to Hugo for the incredible hospitality. Incredibly impressed with their bar program, there are few restaurants and bars in the area with complex and top-shelf cocktails at this caliber for $14. Looking forward to coming back with friends and exploring more of the food and beverage program! Also the interior is amazing! High vaulted ceilings, barn doors, beautiful furniture, lounge couches and well designed interior lighting. Great spot!

Yelp
Came in on a weekday when they first opened. Place is super nice inside, great to hang out with friends. Huge bar and lots of seating throughout. Food was bleh... they had a ton of staff, with just two customers. So I assume they get pretty busy later in the day. Service was a bit slow for only have 2 tables in the place. Pretty pricey for the amount of food and the lackluster presentation. I think with a menu revamp, they could really knock it outta the park. Overall, I'd comeback for the vibe and maybe to share some happy hour appetizers. But wouldn't choose this place for dinner.
google avatar

Terry T.

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere! Beautiful and had sports on later in the day. Happy hour had fantastic food and priced right! The service was absolutely great! The food tasted so so so yummy!! I will definitely come here on my way back through! Excellent experience

Yelp
Nice atmosphere in the bar, good drinks & large draft beer offerings...good service by a young staff. Jalapeño poppers: terrible - tasted like baked from frozen, really bad Green salad: nice lettuce but overly dressed with extremely salty dressing "Smash Burger" sliders: definitely NOT smashed, over-cooked & dry Overall, I want to really like this place but food needs to be improved

Jamie T.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel next door. Long drive, ready for dinner and sleep. Only food open in the area is right next to the hotel. Awesome. Except they shut down 40 minutes early. Don't get hungry in Mill Valley after sunset.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
I was honestly not expecting much when we pulled into Floodwater's parking lot and saw it was part of a Holiday Inn Express, but we were hungry, it was on our way home, and it was getting late and other restaurants had closed. When we walked in there were lots of kids running around the pool table area but we were glad the hostess sat us closer to the bar where the vibe was chill. The beet salad was surprisingly good, the Reuben sandwich was rather bland but there was a generous amount of meat, and the gar lic fries seemed to be fresh made. The service was by far the part that made the experience excellent! I started choking on a bite of pickle. Our waiter, Gabriel, was taking the order from another table and noticed i was in distress and that my partner was concerned. He immediately came over ready to administer the Heimlich maneuver but also checked with me calmly to see what help I needed. When I was able to breath again on my own, Gabriel made sure I was ok and quickly returned to helping the other table. He checked on me two other times before we paid our bill, including refilling the hot water for my tea, making sure I was ok but also having some good humor which helped me feel less awkward. Thank you for the wonderful service, Gabriel!

Yelp
Mac n cheese is on point. Pretzel is always a fave of ours. Great spot to go when it's hot in mill valley. A good lemonde as well.

Yelp
I don't have much to say but when we first ate at Flood a couple of years ago, we were very happy. Went last night and I enjoyed my deal but my friend orders a pasta dish. There was very little pasta in the dish and for $25 it must have been good pasta. Thats it. I also seen to remember they had a more extensive menu which I miss.

Yelp
A place full of screaming unmanaged children at all hours of the day. Two latkes took them 15 minutes and our waiter despite having our drinks, looked at our table and just...walked back to the bar. I saw the bartender using the same shaker for like 5 very different drinks and it's took them a while to even bother seating us despite it being pretty empty - and then they didn't clean the floor underneath my table so I nearly sat on old food. The food we ate was pretty good though, burger was well cooked and our appetizers were tasty. I've been here twice and both times the service and ambiance was bad. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Beautiful large family friendly place. Pizza is woodfire with good taste with decent crust. Reuben was tasty but bread was slightly over toasted so kinda messy. Steak came sliced probably to distract from the small size. Fries were dry and they dont have A1 sauce if thats your thing. Packed crowd with only one bartender is something they can improve on.

Yelp
I liked floodwater's fresh jalapeno poppers and fries. The vegan pizza was decent but not memorable, the crust felt soggy. Their oatmeal stout was rather flat.

Yelp
Had a seat at the Bar today. Ordered a Reuben and a Pliny Draft, Came alone but soon engaged conversation with the Bartender Augustine. This guy is Great and a Huge asset to this place. Food was great, old school conversation with Bartender made it even better. I will be back because of people like Augustine.
