Yelp
Florentin is a busy, bustling (noisy) place on a Saturday night, with the vibe of an "in" place. That's fun enough. My branzino was absolutely delicious. As were the fries that we ordered. And that's all I'd go back for. The artichoke appetizer was uninteresting, more of chain restaurant quality than a new, special, "go to" haunt. And the salad of little gem lettuces was really messy to look at (presentation guys, presentation ... eyes are the first thing to taste a dish) and were disappointingly mediocre in flavor, not worth finishing, and I love, love salad. The chicken paillard was tasty, as was the schnitzel. But, again, nothing special. The chocolate cake got mixed reviews -- 2 of us liked it, one among us did not. That was the only dish about wish there was any disagreement among us. And now for the service. I think the front of the house has to get its act together. There is no one thoughtfully perusing tables to see what is needed and coordinate timing. Our entrees came out while our appetizer plates were still on the table -- between the one server balancing the 3 plates and the 3 of us we did manage to make it work. But, come on. Those plates should've been whisked away beforehand. Likewise, when we were done eating, the entree plates were removed one at a time, with the 3rd plate lingering in front of my friend way, way too long. Again, who is paying attention here? I finally had to engage the host to get the plate, though he'd already walked past us at least 2-3 times and not noticed. I will say that my husband was more forgiving of the service than I, so if you care little about service you won't be bothered. Sorry to say that I will stick with my regular spot further south on Amsterdam Ave. Talk to the folks at Salumeria Rosi, they may be game to give you a tip or two about managing the front of the house.
