16 Spots Perfect For A Coffee Catch-Up In The Sun

"This sweet neighbourhood cafe in Wandsworth is a favourite with locals and has some bench seats out front which are great for drinking coffee and getting a bite to eat when the sun is out." - oliver feldman, rianne shlebak

Flotsam & Jetsam Review - Wandsworth - London - The Infatuation

"Flotsam and Jetsam is a cute neighbourhood café on Wandsworth Common that gets pretty busy, so if you’re rolling with a gang you might not find space. Inside there’s an airy feel, but our choice when the sun is shining is to grab one of their bench seats out front." - Rianne Shlebak

Very disappointed and overpriced. Ordered fresh mint tea and had only 4 leaves in the teapot, and fresh green aid juice that definitely wasn't made fresh when I ordered, it was watered-down. And since when do you charge service charge in a coffee shop. Will never visit again.

I had a wonderful time at Flotsam & Jetsam! The food was absolutely incredible, hands down the best egg & avocado on toast with a side of smoked salmon I’ve ever had! I also had the best apple, carrot and ginger juice of my life, I wish I could have it on a drip! The manager, Colin, was really lovely and made the whole experience even more delightful! I will absolutely return ASAP!

Came here to try out their coffee and was not disappointed. Really smooth and tasty long black, plus the decaf option was just as good. Had a pastry followed by the soup of the day, both were fresh and delicious. Glad to have discovered this lovely cafe

We been here for over 4 years, Service was ok, but it will be great if the staff welcome with a smile, food always amazing with the good quality of ingredients, coffee good as always, trendy decor, would like to recommend owner ventilation need work, after leaving you will smell of the food on your cloth.

Really special brunch spot! Went for a birthday brunch and the food and service delivered on making it a memorable occasion. The staff were attentive, service a good speed for how full it was and we didn’t wait too long for a table. The food was tasty, the espresso hollandaise took some getting used to, but definitely was something different. Pancake was amazing!

Amazing coffee, really good food and welcoming service. The selection is wide so everyone will find something for them. My hubby tried smashed avocado with extra eggs which was made extra special with marinated chilli which gave a very nice sweet and spicy taste. I took American pancakes which I found a very nice taste and probably one of the best I have eaten. The atmosphere is fantastic. The place is busy - we arrived at 9:30am and had to wait for 10 mins to get a table. They keep a list of people waiting so you don’t have to queue. There are lots of tables outside so you can sit down while waiting there or I imagine in summer actually have breakfast there. This place is popular with families, you can see lots of babies in car seats even. Toilets were very nice and spacious as well.

We have been here before sometime ago and sat outside. This time we sat inside. The staff were friendly and bubbly and very very good at interacting with the customers without seeming imposing. The brunch that we had was very good. The only downside for me was that the matcha latte was warm, and came in a glass(!) 😯. Also, though you couldn't see, the door to the toilet was always open (there could have been closed cubicles beyond), in my view this door should have always been closed. My girlfriend who did use the toilet before we left said that it was very clean. Would we come again....yes!

Great brunch place. They don't take reservations but you can expect to always find a seat when you pop in. Food is great. Best mushroom toast I've had in my life. Coffee was also great.

Yelp
They've moved over to a queuing system and a QR-code based menu- I.e. you'll need to scan the QR code on your table with your phone to see the full menu. Food- including the savoury items- remains thoroughly excellent. A note on the waiting system - it's a single queue for everything ( take outs and getting seated). If you want something from here, join the queue. There is no special queue for you. Get in the queue. That does mean you. No, I don't care why you think you're special. Get in the queue. I feel this is worth a mention, as during one fifteen minute wait, I saw not one, but three instances of people who seemingly couldn't grasp this, including one couple who wanted to argue with me that the big sign that says "there's one queue" couldn't possibly mean them, seeing as they'd arrived after all the other people, yunno, in the queue.

Yelp
Alexis was the first wow to the restaurant. She was so professional, friendly, and full of great energy. I have to say the food was amazing as well so it was a great combination of service, food, and ambiance. We travelled to London for three months and we returned several times because of the great service provided by Alexis and the team- I have to say when you wow the customer they must remember the service to write a review from United States. We will definitely return and would recommend all tourists and locals to stop and say hello to Alexis and the team!

Yelp
Flotsam and Jetsam is a brand new antipodean style cafe in Wandsworth. If you are looking for all day brunch this is the place you want to eat at. This cafe is owned and ran by a kiwi family, bringing you both home made counter food and treats from crosstown doughnuts, or a menu of brunch items which can change on a daily basis. The cafe is busy and the staff are still finding their feet so give them some slack. Its fair to say that the smashed avocado is the popular menu item, with three of us ordering it. However I swapped my poached egg for roasted mushrooms. The portion size won't leave you feeling hungry. Perfectly seasoned and the pickled chilli, lime and mint just gives lifts the flavours. The rest of the menu was quite egg orientated but there are a great selection of sides to opt for. If you tend to choose Eggs Benedict, then F&J will spoil you with a coffee hollandaise sauce, - something I have yet to come across. The interior is chic, warm and trendy. It was a great first impression, and there is a lot of potential for the near future. If you are kiwi missing home, this cafe will give you your home comfort that you are seeking. Yelp
Cute little cafe with friendly staff. Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch and enjoyed their all-day breakfast offerings. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Lots of fun dessert items to try, too. Update: We came back for Sunday brunch and discovered a 40-minute wait! If that's too long for you, as it was for us, weekdays are a better bet.

Yelp
Solid little coffee shop with a NZ influence. Arriving late in the afternoon, neither my friend or I wanted a strong coffee, so we opted for the festive menu. My friend had a hot chocolate and I a beetroot latte, and both of us were amply satisfied with our choices (although I would never have known about the beetroot latte had my original order of a matcha latte been out of stock - the server recommended the beetroot, but it wasn't written on their board). We had a nice time there, still overflowing with customers even though we arrived in their last hour of service. It would've been a shame to arrive and not get a table, which I assume happens every weekend in high-time. We also ordered a cake, which was nice, but not memorable (this was a month ago now, and I have a vague idea that we ordered a lemon something). Yes, definitely worth visiting if you want a cost little place with fun alternatives to just coffee.

Yelp
I am in love. Honestly, this little breakfast spot has my heart. Start with the Turmeric latte and you won't be disappointed. End with a smile because everything on their menu is amazing. I personally love the Bircher.

Yelp
Best Coffee in South London. Big claim, but I have consumed a lot of coffee in South London and the signature Violatte at F&J is my favourite by far. It has hints of honey and Earl Grey Tea. But if you like a more straight forward coffee, any brew here will do you right. Want something adapted? Sure thing, they'll figure out a way to make your matcha latte sugar free or eliminate the dairy from your flat white. Just ask. They're real pros. Expect the staples for brunch - smoked salmon and avo, eggs benny, a sweet breakfast dish if you're feeling like a rebel. I always get roped into some kind of pastry for dessert too. They have really good baked goods, including Crosstown doughnuts. Just go with it. And if the local setting is a deciding factor, than you can't go wrong, as it's across the road from Wandsworth Common if you want to stroll off that doughnut afterwards.

Yelp
I love this cafe. Absolutely fantastic brunch options, and truly great coffee. Great creative cake options too!
