9 Best New Restaurants in Asheville Right Now | Eater Carolinas

"Flour’s power to pull Patton Avenue pedestrians into the S&W Market made for a brisk breakfast business in the little corner of the Art Deco food hall, particularly for its big, buttery biscuits, touted as the best in town. Brothers Carter and Kyle James and partner, chef Gordon Gibbs, segued into lunch service with big, fat sandwiches on Gibbs’s famous focaccia, but they simply didn’t have space to do both, so they refocused on biscuits and breakfast. When another slot opened across the dining area, the trio jumped in, dividing to conquer. Flour Cafe bakes the biscuits early every morning; Flour Focaccia Sandwich Shop handles lunch, piling slabs of airy focaccia with roasted chicken salad, the Italian, and a veg option like broccolini and burrata or kabocha squash with spiced yogurt and cabbage." - Kay West

Google
Hands down the best biscuit in Asheville right now. We finally stopped into Flour at the S&W Market downtown, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Honestly, we just thought it would be a quick breakfast stop — a coffee, a bite, and on with our day. But the energy, the food, and the people here stopped us in our tracks. The vibe is lively, welcoming, and balanced. Staff were prompt, friendly, and clearly care about what they’re doing. Families, friends, and locals were all gathered around — and it wasn’t for anything else in the building. It was for Flour. And the biscuits? Absolutely next-level. We tried the Bacon, Egg & Cheese biscuit — smoky bacon, melty cheese, perfectly cooked egg, all stacked inside a biscuit that was golden and crisp on the outside, buttery and tender inside. The kind of biscuit that makes you close your eyes for a second bite. In the past 6 months, this is the best biscuit I’ve had in Asheville — and judging from the buzz around the shop, a lot of other folks agree. Flour isn’t just making biscuits; they’re raising the standard for what breakfast should be in this city. If you haven’t been yet, get yourself down to Flour. You’ll taste why everyone’s talking about it.

Google
The bacon eggs and cheese biscuit was delicious and big. They really have the sandwich down to perfection. The outside is crispy and the inside is pillowy soft. I also got the brown sugar cinnamon latte with oat milk and it’s is possibly the best latte I’ve ever had. The owners were very friendly as well! Definitely recommend!

Google
SO GOOD! Around 11 am on a Sunday I waited about 10 minutes in line and another 10 for my order. Got the bacon egg and cheese and people are not exaggerating when they say this is the best biscuit ever. The salty, buttery crunch on this thing is out of this world. Generous portion size with thick cut bacon and freshly cooked egg. I'm sure it would be amazing with the butter and jam combo also!

Google
Wow! What a neat place for breakfast! My husband got the bacon, egg, & cheese biscuit and I got the yogurt granola bowl. I think this is the best biscuit we’ve ever had (I got a bite)! The chai tea latte was delicious, too! Highly recommend this unique place!

Google
These biscuits are out of this world amazing. They are fresh, fluffy, flavorful and have a cripsy slightly seasoned outside. I got the egg, cheese, and bacon and it was truly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had! The bacon was thick and crisp, the egg was cooked well and not messy and the fontina cheese was delicious. I got an iced coffee and my husband got drip coffee- both were delicious! It was easy to find a seat in the spacious common area and the ambiance was so pleasant. We will definitely be back!

First time inside this food hall. Really cool inside no doubt. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and it was amazing. The biscuit was unreal by itself. Have to say prolly one of the best biscuits sandwiches I've ever had. Highly recommended

Google
I have no idea how they do it, but the biscuit simultaneously gives you that snappy crunch when you bite into it, followed by a not-too-dense and not-too-soft interior. Best biscuit I’ve ever had

Google
Holy biscuits Batman! Smashing bagged goods. Highly recommend the breakfast biscuit. Delicious. Coffee was bitter, not my thing but my fiance loved her vanilla latte and yogurt bowl. Service was backed up and waited a while for order.

Yelp
Wow Wow Wow. The biscuit here is the best biscuit I have ever had. Nice crunchy crust but fluffy and light inside. I could eat these biscuits every day. My daughter had a bacon egg cheese biscuit sandwich which also was great. Can't wait to come back for more! Sorry no pictures as I forgot after the first bite.

Yelp
My iced vanilla latte was perfect. The mocha latte was equally tasty. The staff is very friendly and worked quickly to get all of the orders out. I didn't get to try any food but the biscuits looked delicious.

Yelp
A+ breakfast sandwich right here! My friend and I stumbled upon Flour after the cafe we originally planned to visit wasn't serving food. We had walked past the Food Hall and noticed Flour, so it was the perfect pivot and I'm so glad we went. The two guys behind the counter were super friendly and kind. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. Salty, warm, delicious. If I lived in Asheville, this would for sure be a staple for me!

Yelp
Very limited menu of amazingly well prepared breakfast sandwiches. We went early on a Sunday morning. The two guys behind the counter were well humored and steady as they catered to the crowd forming a line. Loved the broccolini in the breakfast sandwich!

Yelp
Best biscuit I've ever had in my life. No joke. Guys behind the counter were super nice as well.

Yelp
"I could die right now" said after eating a biscuit sandwich and drinking a peppermint mocha cappuccino is all you need to know! The baristas were so helpful and friendly, the space is beautiful, and all of the food and drinks are incredible. There are a lot of breakfast spots in the area, but this one is really spectacular.

Yelp
VERY much enjoyed the following delights...homemade focaccia (light & airy, fresh baked) sandwich- fresh italian mozzarella, prosciutto, flavorful pesto (tasted homemade, juicy and lots of it), arugula. Decided it's my new go to sandwich! The "breakfast salad" - flavorful and fresh. Mustardy-honey ish w/ the right amount of tart, frisée & radicchio, smokey, thick, crispy bacon pieces, freshly grated parm & topped with a fried egg. Best biscuit in WNC! Perfect crunch on the outside, moist, soft and buttery inside. New spot inside the beautiful S&W building food hall downtown. I would absolutely have all of these things again ...and again. Good, simple, European quality sandwiches w/ big flavor. Everything I ate tasted like it's made by people who definitely care about quality ingredients, flavor and freshness. Highly recommend all the things. Will be back!

Yelp
Flour is not too be missed if you want a delicious and filling sandwich. First the focaccia bread is fantastic, light and airy and full of flavor. The beets with the feta are such a great combination, and this sandwich also had cucumber, mint, cilantro. It's just that good.

Yelp
Stopped in for a couple of egg/bacon/cheese biscuits before hitting the road for the day. First, brought them back to the hotel, they are huge, tasty, and extremely well made. This place will spoil you if you've ever had an egg/bacon/cheese biscuit somewhere else, these are top shelf.

Yelp
I haven't posted a review for a place in years, but Flour is so good I felt prompted to rave about them. I can't stop thinking about their biscuits- so perfectly buttery and delicious, made from scratch, excellent for one of their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. They are also friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere casual but cute, I've had quick take out sandwiches but also eaten there. Don't miss out on their espresso or cookies either- such a solid gem of a place.

Yelp
Best sandwich in Asheville. Beet yogurt and cucumber on homemade focaccia. The boys are very good with people and are very welcoming. A must visit in downtown Asheville.

Yelp
The best biscuits in town! Focaccia sandwich's are absolutely incredible as well. Check out Flour for a coffee and biscuit ASAP!!

Yelp
had the butter and jam biscuit. Could tell the jam was made in house, the biscuit was so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Forgot silverware and they brought it out to me. Best biscuit i've ever had, personally. Wish i had a picture but i ate my biscuit too fast. Will be coming back!
