Flour Bakery + Cafe - Review - Back Bay - Boston - The Infatuation

"For a quick, delicious sandwich, treat, or coffee, head to this excellent mini-chain (with eight locations in total) that serves great breakfast and lunch options, including a warming miso tofu noodle bowl, avocado toast with cotija cheese, and the absolute best sticky buns in Boston (and maybe on the East Coast). With kid-friendly vibes, this is a great place to eat in or grab a coffee and a bright, flavorful lunch to take to the Esplanade for an impromptu hang. photo credit: Tina Picz" - Tanya Edwards

The Back Bay Lunch Guide

"The thing about being a known entity applies to Flour, too. And, judging by the lines in this place every day from 12-2, there aren’t a lot of people we need to tell Flour about. But if you’re someone who’s been wondering if waiting in line is worth it, we’re here to tell you that it absolutely is. They have a large regular selection of sandwiches, salads, and bowls that are really good. This is also a place where it’s really hard to pass by the dessert case without stopping, so do yourself a favor and don’t even try to." - dan secatore

Where to Warm Up With Boston’s Most Comforting Mugs of Hot Chocolate

"Sure, go to Flour for the sticky buns, but stay for the fiery hot chocolate. The rich beverage brings the fire with some chile powder and cayenne pepper accents. Also keep an eye out for specials, like a white hot chocolate. There are nine locations around Boston and Cambridge." - Dana Hatic, Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Update (Early July 2025): Cake back a week later and absolutely loved the Avacado Toast. Coffee was as smooth as always. Coffee Cake was okay. Biscuit with Jam and the Vanilla Donut was awesome! Late June 2025: Came here because we were gifted an excellent cake from the few weeks ago. One of the best (bacon) Quichie I have had ever. ($8) Coconut Cream Pie ($6.50) was good as well. Very smooth but bit sweet Iced Latte. (Added Hazelnut Syrup) The location was very busy on the Saturday Morning. I'll come back for sure!

Google
This place offers high quality coffee and food! We had a delicious egg sandwich. French toast had an unique flavor. We also tried cheese cake and chocolate chips. Everything fresh and made with care, high recommended! The place can get busy over the weekend.

Google
I went here and got a quiche and a slice of Boston cream pie while visiting Boston. Both were delicious! The quiche really stood out, and tasted very delicate with such a crisp crust.

Google
1 star for Flúor Bakery + Café. Terrible experience. I ordered an egg sandwich and a meat one — both were awful, I had to throw them out completely. I get that taste is subjective, but this was unacceptable: cold, flavorless, and not fresh at all. Service was poor, staff seemed uninterested and unmotivated. On top of that, the kitchen area and product display counter were dirty. They really need to fix or invest in those details. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Google
Grabbed desserts with friends as I had heard good things about the place. Learned today that they served more brunch/lunch menus than actual dessert. It was mostly confectionery than drinks or cold (eg frap or ice cream). Found them a little sweet for me. The server was polite and efficient. Inside was clean and very crowded. It was almost Impossible to find seats even on the stands near the window/wall. Seemed like a very popular place. I personally found it noisy and not as easy to talk. They had water taps with cups for free water which was accessible. I appreciated that a lot.

Google
Delicious! Everything made from scratch and fresh. There was a long line but they served us fast after we got our order in. Coffee was deliciousss! We loved this place.

Google
Very good taste and service! We asking about what's favorite menu? The staff recommend very well.

Galina Pylypiv

Google
Perfect spot for a quick bite that is reliably good. Had the avocado toast with the added smoked salmon. Flavors work perfectly together and the outdoor seating has a nice view of a park.

Yelp
Hit this place twice on my Boston trip because there was so much stuff to try. From the baked goods to the sandwiches, it all looked good. The first time I went in was for lunch and got the smoked chicken salad sandwich. It's served on the thinnest slice of focaccia imaginable, but still holds up well. The chicken salad filling was tasty, but what really made it standout was the red grapes. I think it's supposed to replicate the crunch of red onion, but without the sharp bite. That sweetness of the grapes balances out well with the creaminess of the chicken salad. I also got a sticky bun, which was also delicious. On my second visit, I got the breakfast egg sandwich. Flour offers its own unique take on the breakfast classic by making it with an egg soufflé. It was a great way to start off my morning! With the constant flow of customers coming in and out, the staff was always friendly! Given how busy and popular Flour is, I was also surprised I got a seat around the breakfast and lunch hours.

Yelp
I am hooked on Flour! Baked goods are delicious, sandwiches are delicious, drinks are great! All around a great bakery/cafe to visit. Note that it does get busy so prepare for a wait. Food specific review: - Sticky bun was yummy but definitely on the sweet side. I would not be able to finish that in one sitting -- but that makes it a very sharable pastry! - French toast was soft and somehow custardy. Not your typical french toast but it's different in a good way! Kind of melts in your mouth and doesn't have the same bread chew. - BLT was great, no complaints. Good sauce, good ratio, good bread.

Yelp
So happy we stopped in for breakfast. I had a latte which was good. Ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage. I didn't like the sausage but the rest was good. A little too much mayo on it but still good. I had to try the sticky bun since I read about it and it did not disappoint. The staff heated it up for me and it was great. Would definitely return just for that or to try other baked goods. Great find!

Yelp
So good! I wish we would have found this place a lot sooner. Everything was good and wish we would have had time to go here more often

Yelp
I love Flour Bakery! This location gets really busy but the service is really quick. Their breakfast sandwiches are so fresh and taste really clean. They have an array of pastries to choose from. My family is obsessed with the coconut cake. It is so creamy and rich. I always stop by whenever I'm in the area.

Jamie G.

Yelp
I had a matcha and breakfast sandwich. The matcha tasted like milk, they added more matcha for me free of charge but it still tasted only like milk with an aroma of matcha. The breakfast sandwich was filling and had good taste. Would probably opt out of the spread they put on it since it taste like horseradish and it's not my favorite. The staff are extremely nice and welcoming. Otherwise I would have rated lower. I sat outside, which was nice and well shaded. There is room to sit inside as well, but I was there at 8am so it was nice and cool.
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
I love their sticky buns. Came through town but got a late start so didn't get to swing by as early as I wanted. Got there on foot in sweltering heat only to have the cashier smirk at me when I asked if there were any sticky buns left. I didn't appreciate the judgy lookover I got in the process. Simple no would heavy sufficed.
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
Came in for a quick visit and the main seating area was very busy. Lots of people working, which is to be expected for any cafe in Boston. The staff was friendly and lively when they took my order. I just got a raspberry crumb bar and it was linzer tart like and delicious! They had some other tasty options it seemed so I will probably be back for a study session.
google avatar

Kasey G.

Yelp
Exactly what I needed! I got off the amtrack at back bay south end and wanted to grab breakfast, I tried to go to the friendly toast next door but they had an hour and half wait Flour is a wait to order and seat yourself so it worked out perfectly. I had the sticky bun, cauliflower melt (literally so good) and my boyfriend got the blt You can order online and skip the wait too

Yelp
So apparently there is a "thing" in Boston between Flour and Tatte resembling Mike's and Modern Pastry. One group swears by Mike's, another group swears by Modern. The only time I get into things like that is when we're talking Red Sox vs. Yankees. I'm just here for good food! Something you should also know about me is I am a big fan of Joanne Chang. Myers & Chang is in my Hall of Fame, and I especially underscore the importance of getting the desserts whenever recommending it. Thus, I was ecstatic when on a food tour I found out Flour Bakery and Café is her creation. The baked goods here are terrific! They are fresh, varied, unique, and my favorite thing of all: they are not overloaded with sugar! I fully appreciate that pastries do not exactly count as diet food. At the same time if it helps me feel a little bit better about myself while eating I will absolutely take it! To say nothing of the fact that too much sugar overpowers flavors. I also had a cappuccino on one occasion, and It had great strength and quality. Didn't take too long to get it either (Tatte, I'm looking at you) As for the service here, it is efficient and polite. During the morning rush they keep the waits very reasonable, and they've very fair prices considering location, quality, and portion sizes. I have absolutely become a fan, and can see myself stopping in regularly before work.
google avatar

Britni M.

Yelp
It must be a requirement that you have to be the nicest person ever to work there. I'd go back just because of that! I got the breakfast sandwich with sausage, the sauce on it is SO good and the sticky sticky bun, which is a must. They crank those orders out quick!
google avatar

Sandee L.

Yelp
The sticky bun is what brought us here, but the avocado toast was what made us stay. I've been familiar with the sticky bun years ago since Joanne Chang won on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. They are indeed ooey-gooey deliciousness! After traveling for a couple weeks, we were in the mood for something "simple". Usually, I wouldn't go for the $11 and change avocado toast I can make at home. Boy, did I underestimate this elevated avocado toast! The toast was grilled (complete with the char marks) to perfection, topped with creamy avocado, tangy cotija cheese and pickled peppers. Also, that poached egg was on point! I couldn't resist picking up three of their toffee packages. Haven't dug in yet to try them out!

Yelp
Amazing americano coffee! So smooth. Not bitter at all. I highly recommend it! Super friendly staff and a clean restaurant.

Yelp
Was referred to stop by here during my Boston visit. This place is packed! Hectic- long line. The team here is efficient and friendly. The food line to order was 10mins or less. Very yummy pastries, the food makes up for the line. Vibe was more on the hectic side since everyone was here for breakfast/ brunch. Seating indoor and outdoor available. I suggest trying to place an online order before coming to avoid the line. **Quiche of the Day- 5/5 flavors are popping with mushrooms, spinach and the pie crust was perfect flaky. ** Banana Bread- 5/5 Requested it warm. Was a delight! Not dry at all perfect moist.

Yelp
Stopped in for something quick before a work meeting. It was busy at 9 am on a Tuesday, but the line moved fast! Had a dark roast coffee and cinnamon roll. Both were delicious! They did have some seating inside. Would recommend if you are in the area.
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
This Flour was next to where I had breakfast, so I decided to stop by and finally try the famous sticky bun. There is some metered parking out front. The inside is spacious, and it was quite busy for a Tuesday morning. The sticky bun was $5.25. The worker heated it up for me, which you should definitely ask for if you plan on eating it right away. The sticky bun was very soft and sweet. Definitely hits the spot if you need a sugar rush. The toasted pecans were also good. Overall, I can see why this item is so popular. It's not something I would be able to eat regularly, but I'm satisfied with my first experience.
google avatar

Ayall S.

Yelp
I liked this place. They had a good variety of pastries and decent coffee. This location has indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was friendly enough. I'll swing by this place again; or at least one of their other chain establishments.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to try the a Boston Cream Pie and wasn't disappointed. Only complaint is the self ordering is slow and unnecessarily complicated.

Yelp
This has become one of my absolute FAVE local bakeries around the Boston area. And with 9 locations between Beantown & Cambridge, you're never too far away from one of their delectable bakeries! The food is impeccable, vibe is fun and cozy, and staff are always welcoming and helpful! I've tried their avocado toast and it's awesome! They top it with different herbs and oils than I've ever had and it was excellent - very savory and the poached egg on top is always cooked perfectly for that desirable yolk pop. But it's their roast beef sandwich that keeps me coming back - I can honestly say it's THE BEST roast beef sandwich I've ever had! The meat is soft and flavorful and it has lettuce, tomato, delicious fried onions, and the absolute BEST horseradish sauce I've ever had - just the right amount of horseradish burn - not overwhelmingly (where are my horseradish lovers at??? IYKYK hahaha)!! On my last visit, my friend tried their chicken tikka masala Naan sandwich and loved it! It smelled amazing too. They have tons of pastries - from sticky buns all the way to homemade pop tarts what??!! Their coffees are great too. It's an order-at-the-counter style spot but if you're eating in, they'll bring it to your table. It gets super packed during "rush hours" so bring your patience and make sure you have enough time. Lines move pretty quickly though so I've never had issues. They have table seating and also nice "bar" style seating at the windows which always have great views for people watching. I definitely try to make a stop at Flour anytime I'm in Boston! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sanjana R.

Yelp
Tried the Lola chocolate chip cookie, sticky bun, and hot chocolate here. The hot chocolate was rich and did not have that powdered flavor other stores have. The cookie was a solid choice and had pecans mixed in! They don't offer to heat anything up, unless asked. The sticky bun was good and essentially an upgraded cinnamon bun. It should definitely be warmed up though! There's parking around the street at Clarendon St. and Chandler St. Ambiance is calm, great place to work and read a book!
google avatar

Mr L.

Yelp
I had the mushroom melt, which was out of this world and loaded with mushrooms! The Mrs. had a delicious salad. We wanted to try the sticky buns, but they were sold out. Solid food. Bakery looked good too.
google avatar

Katy C.

Yelp
What I Ordered: Boston Creme Pie * similar to tiramisu * chilled sponge cake with multiple layers that includes a layer that is similar to vanilla ice cream Sticky Bun * perfect balance between sweetness of topping and neutral tasting bread Sticky Bun Bread Pudding * flan as bottom layer * sticky bun as top layer * very unique menu items 7.5/10
google avatar

Allegra P.

Yelp
Ordered many cake slices to send off a friend. The best things we ate were the cheesecake and the chocolate cream pie. The chocolate cream pie was out of this world!!! I thought the cake was good but not as good as the pie. The tiramisu style Boston cream pie was also very nice.
google avatar

Suzi B.

Yelp
This place is popular! But service is pretty fast. The line would move faster if we all knew exactly what we wanted before we get to the counter, ir if we could be reasonable and just decide already on that one thing we want to order. Do us all a favor- including yourself- and order a bunch of stuff. You are going to go back again anyway so just order all the things you want. Who can choose? Breakfast, lunch and dinner provide so many great options! The food is fresh and perfectly made. Comforting muffins, avocado toast, sweets and more sweets, sandwiches, and all so good. And of course lots of smoothies and coffee concoctions. PRO TIP: download the app, join the club, order ahead! The Back Bay location had a fair sized seating area on the patio in summer. There's also cookbooks and merch, though most of the cool stuff sold out. So glad a friend recommended this place! We went twice in one day. Couldn't get enough goodness!

Ali S.

Yelp
Wide assortment of baked goods. It all looked delicious, I had the lemon raspberry cake, definitely on the sweeter side but yummy regardless. The food was super fast to come out and is great if you're in a bind for time. Service and vibe of the place was nice.
google avatar

Becky F.

Yelp
Very convenient, being right next to Back Bay station. I'm so glad that they brought back Donut Saturdays- their brioche donuts are amazing. The staff are always friendly, even when the store is packed. I wish there was a way to check if an item is in stock before waiting in a 20+ minute line. Waiting for nearly half an hour only to have them run out is upsetting. Other than that, its a great place!
google avatar

Sue K.

Yelp
I originally went to Flour for the baked goods, but was tempted by the breakfast menu and had to come back! I previously tried the banana bread and TCHO chocolate chip cookie, both of which were a 10/10. I was a little underwhelmed by the breakfast items -- the egg sandwich and avocado toast were both good, but not great. Out of the two, I'd tip my hat to the avocado toast; I'm a sucker for a poached egg on top. The Clarendon location is bustling and very hard to find seating at. Order at the kiosk for a faster experience!
google avatar

Charles L.

Yelp
Wonderful bakery. I stopped in early in the morning for a delicious breakfast. The latte was smooth and warm. The oat spelt scone was the healthy part of my meal, delicious and tasty. The sticky buns were wonderful, especially warmed up! The owner was there, chatting with guests and employees. What an amazing place!

Yelp
I was on a very important mission to find the best ever Coconut Cream Pie in the greater Boston area!! Don't ask me why just go with it...!! Flour Bakery + Cafe came up in my search as the best. Called and placed the order well in advanced to ensure I had my pie at the ready. I was very serious about it being an important mission. The bakery itself is relatively small but charming with both indoor & outdoor seating facing the busy streets of Boston. The staff are very nice & friendly. Although it can get a bit chaotic back there when they're crowded. And for a cafe, they have a very nice menu selection ranging from breakfast sandwiches, pastries, fresh baked goods and also lunch items & sandwiches for all them sandwiches lovers. And then... there was my Coconut Cream Pie Arguably the best cream pie I've ever had. You could immediately tell the whip cream was fresh and handmade. The pie filling was just the right amount of sweet along with this insatiable coconut flavor that was just absolutely decadent. Top that with the toasted coconut shavings on top and it was pure magic. The crust was also baked to perfection the perfect crunch and softness. Needless to say, the pie didn't last long after its purchase. I will for sure be purchasing from Flour Bakery + Cafe again...very soon.

Yelp
Brioche Bun was airy and just the ight amount of sweet , the pizza had a great balance of flavor between he cheese, herbs and the egg and the cinnamon bun's cream was on point. The draw back to all the items was that the dough on all of them was a bit dry and had a sort of stale mouth feel, though I'm certain they aret actually stale. Turned what would be perfect bites into just good bites, also made it hard to "go to town." As you got tired of them.

Yelp
Breakfast Egg this one my favorite sandwich on the Menu usually I am skeptically about eating egg sandwich made outside. But this one hit the spot because it give me the needed energy I need to get through a crazy work day. Love the Japanese style egg custard and yummy crisp bacon with the soft bread it make the perfect. Meal .
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
not good. store was over crowded and tables not well taken care of. inside felt hectic and system of getting food was long and over complicated- need to order either at kiosk and get number or wait in long line at counter. the avocado toast was interesting as it combined ssamjang (korean red pepper paste) and cucumbers with toast. being korean i am used to these flavors but thought combination to be interesting and tasty. not enough avocado though and my cappuccino was just ok. rather small too. over priced will not be back.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
I would have to break this review up into two parts: (1) Food was very good, diverse selection. We had the breakfast pizza and the avocado toast and both were very good. I would rate it 4.5, however (2) we wanted to eat at the cafe which is where I would rank it a 2. They bring the food to you however one meal came out 15 minutes before the other and the coffees came in between that. Would have preferred everything to come at once. The outside tables are filled with people and half are in the Sun with no umbrellas; would suggest investing in umbrellas and tables to meet the demand that is clearly there. Pigeons flock on the tables and in the bussing tray that sits outside the front door. Perhaps staff it so one person is outside keeping things tidy. Our table had the previous customers meal left on it.

Yelp
Extremely easy online ordering, complete with pictures!! The visual learner in me was ecstatic. Pick-up was just as easy. We ordered a couple roast beef sandwiches, turkey + swiss, and a homemade hummus. Also chose a few pastries (sticky buns, carrot cake, cinnamon roll) . Loved the fried onions in the roast beef, which gave richness and a crunch. Bun and roll were very tasty (we liked the bun more because it was *nuts*), but weren't big fans of the carrot cake (almost a preservative-y taste). Definitely a "local" sandwich place to Boston that's worth a stop, whether it's a WFH pick me up, or a Boston Common picnic. Not surprised to learn this place is owned by Joanne Chang. Hope to be back to try the other sandwiches and pastries!!

Yelp
Came here to get coffee and some baked goodies on a Friday morning and it wasn't crowded. The sticky bun is worth the hype and easily shareable since it can get too sweet. The cinnamon bun and the raspberry pop tart are yummy too! I also got the regular cup of coffee and wasn't a fan- nothing special about it, tasted below average. They have a few tables and area to sit inside. For me, it was one of those places I would go once to try the bakery items.

Shawnda K.

Yelp
Giving 3 reviews. My husband, son and I had different experiences, however, overall positive. Me: 4.5 Stars. The Shrimp Caesar was outstanding. The shrimp was well seasoned and very good. The salad was also really good and the fried capers were a pleasant surprise. My coconut cream pie was one of the best I have ever had, and my PSL was a great complement to my pie. The PSL was not overly sweet and solid. All portions were big! My Husband: 3 Stars. The food was very good. The Arnold Palmer was bitter/watered down and I could not finish it. They ran out of the Chicken Tikka Naan, so I had to have the Cubano. It was very good and a good choice. The raspberry cheesecake was above average and the mocha was fantastic. My Son: 3.5-4 stars. My food was good for the most part. The chicken on the Greek salad was a bit chewy. The lemonade was bitter and I could not finish it. My lemon merengue pie was great and the merengue did not have an eggy taste. The matcha paired well because it wasn't too sweet. Overall a good experience. Service- pretty good and with a smile. Very nice stafg

Yelp
I ordered 2 dozen cookie sets from them via Goldbelly. Everything arrived on time and the recipients LOVED them. They are cookies, icing, and marshmallows to create melting snowmen cookies. Adorable, tasted great! A huge hit.

Yelp
Everything was good. Everything. Easy review to read, right? Just a few details below: The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. It gave enough time for half of us to stand and order and half of us to find seats. Seating is available both inside and out, and the only downside is that the inside smelled heavily of bacon. Sounds weird that that's a bad thing, but it hung pretty thick in the air. That thick smell of, not quite smoke, but potent. Kind of... greasy? Vegetarian review: - the grilled cauliflower melt was delicious and substantial. The cauliflower still had bite, so texture wasn't soggy, and the cheese was melty and gooey. Wonderful. - chocolate chip cookies were also delicious. A little crisp on the edges, chewy on the inside.... Get one. Sorry- I don't know the parking situation.

Yelp
I'm not quite sure what I'm missing in regards to the craze that is Flour. Possibly it's just not my preferred style of baked goods. I got a savory scone. I wish there was an option for it to be warmed because it was a bit meh cold. I'm sure I would have loved it toasted. I do like there is an option of ordering on a self check out or a line. The sandwich options looked exciting but it was 10am so I wanted a more breakfast savory item. I didn't find too many other options that stood out (unique or different). Banana bread, muffins etc just don't move me to excitement which is what I look for in a bakery.
google avatar

Yelp
There is nothing bad to say about Flour. And if you follow them on IG, you'll be in regularly to try all the new things!

Yelp
Stopped in here for breakfast when I was visiting Boston. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, I wasn't blown away but I'd order it again if I needed something to tide me over. I was able to have a slice of Boston Creme Pie and this was delicious. I really enjoyed my first BCP experience and was happy to have had it here. I did also try the sticky bun, and this was definitely my favorite bite. I'd recommend this if you stop in. There was a bit of a line, but it seemed to move pretty fast so it was worth the short wait. If i'm in town I'd come back! 4/5

Yelp
Flour is a mainstay of Boston with multiple locations serving tasty pastries and sandwiches. Even when it's raining, expect this place to be packed (so order ahead on the app if you can!) Sandwiches here are fresh and flavorful with a good light bread and well prepared meats and fixins. The sticky bun is popular here as well. There's some seating at the park across the street if needed.

Yelp
This bakery is located near the friendly toast and open pretty early which is super convenient. I got an apple smoked bacon sandwich, a lemonade and an almond croissant. The sandwich was super big and very filling. It had a good balance of flavors and toasted very nicely so that it was crispy and warm. The lemonade had a good balance of sweet and sour and was very nice with my sandwich. The croissant was not too sweet, super crispy and flaky which was delicious. The prices for these items were very fitting for the portions and the flavor. The service is also pretty good, all of the workers were cheerful and super helpful even though they were incredibly busy. I would definitely come back again and would recommend others to come here!
google avatar

Adam G.

Yelp
I used to be impressed with the food here, but today I got 2 salads and they were both very bland and not special.. .tasted like a premade salad from the day before at a supermarket or CVS. I ate in the restaurant and was served the miso soba salad in the premade plastic container. The tofu was hard and tasteless. The green salad with chicken was not mixed with dressing or anything and came with 5 dry, overcooked and tasteless pieces of chicken thrown on top. Very disappointing and tasteless (and surprisingly small, even though I ordered the large). Baked goods still look good but I would never come back for a salad

Yelp
They can have long lines and hard to find a spot to sit if it's packed. They do have 2 lines, one where you use a kiosk to order and the other is ordering from a cashier. The kiosk line was definitely shorter and quicker to order if you know what you want. We tried their sticky buns, Breakfast Bacon & Egg Sandwich (on a focaccia roll), and Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich. Everything was so good! The sticky buns were very soft and warm, very sweet and tasty. The Breakfast Bacon & Egg Sandwich was really good as well. The egg and focaccia roll was really soft and everything was good and flavorful. The Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich was on a grilled sandwich, also flavorful and delicious. But my preference would be the Breakfast Bacon & Egg Sandwich. Recommendation(s): - Sticky Bun - Breakfast Bacon & Egg Sandwich (on a focaccia roll) - Fresh Mozzarella Sandwich Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Use the kiosk if you know what you want since it's usually a shorter line

Yelp
This place nails the pastry game. The brioche au chocolat was a great change to the usual chocolate croissant I order, mostly because this brioche came packed with chocolate, more chocolate than a croissant can offer. I also had a hot latte. I was hoping there would be some seasonal drinks offered here but did not find any , so I added as some cinnamon to my drink and it tasted good. The breakfast sandwich was also tasty but served lukewarm. The egg soufflé was an interesting variation on an otherwise typical breakfast sandwich. The flavor was there, I'm just not sure I would choose to have an egg souffléd on a sandwich again, the texture was just a little off for me. It is worth a try though!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. Not just because of the wonderful patio, but also because someone needs to end the Tatte latte thanks a Tatte dominance. Unfortunately, Flour Bakery's food isn't that great. Their desserts are too commonplace. I don't want them to serve halva cookies or anything too exotic. But when they serve cupcakes and cinnamon rolls, while Tatte's display case is simply inspired, then Flour Bakery needs to step it up!

Yelp
Yum is the word! They have a large spread of confectionary and other bakery items kept on display prominently, something for other bakeries in Boston to take a note of and learn. Everything looks so tempting and nearly all the items taste equally good! I've tried the banana bread, coconut truffle, coconut pastry, apple spiced cake, raspberry cheesecake, and so many other items! In the summer, they also offer seasonal drinks. I've visited the Back Bay, Harvard square, Kendall square, and Fort Point locations and they all make for a good brunch spot. They source ingredients locally and their savory preparations look rather fresh! Recommend visiting the place in the morning when as they usually run out of stock on their bestselling items, especially on weekends! It could get crowded at the brunch hour on weekends at all 4 locations I mentioned above and they don't take reservations. The smell across all locations is quite inviting and this place is a must-try if you're visiting Boston!

Yelp
The fresh made sandwiches and pastry. Truly a unique cafe in the Cambridge. We went to flour cafe, different locations twice within 2 days. Our friend took us to this cafe in downtown for brunch. The line was out the door when we arrived. We knew this cafe is the spot! There are kiosk to order or in person order. We used the kiosk so we don't have to wait in line. After we purchased our order, we sat by the windows n waited about 15-20min for our lunch. The staff called out the order by name. WHAT WE ORDERED Applewood smoked bacon Sandwich Breakfast Egg sandwich Blueberry muffin Ham and cheese croissant Both sandwiches are delicious. Although I prefer the breakfast egg sandwich over the other, you can clearly taste the soft egg and savory in the sandwich. The muffin is so fresh and delicious, I crave for more blueberry muffin. Freshly add ham & cheese croissant is the best breakfast ever!! Flour cafe is an Asian owned cafe in Boston, her name is Joanne Chang. She used to work on wall street then discovered a passion for pastry n fully pursue it. She opened 10 flour cafe locations in Boston and it is a very successful business.

Yelp
Phew this place is crowded, especially at lunch time and brunch time weekends. Like any chain, they have an online ordering platform and honestly that's what I would do to by pass the line and not be among crowds at this point for extended periods of time. I ordered online and waited outside until the given time. The time given for the order to be ready was pretty accurate but I would give it an extra five minutes at busy times. I got the fresh mozzarella sandwich with had tomatoes, thick slices of mozzarella, and arugula with cherry pepper cream and basil pesto. It all worked really well together and was super fresh and filling. I got a side of salt and vinegar chips - match made in heaven. I'm pretty close to this location and will have to go back at maybe an off time in the day. It was really so crowded when I went.
