Flower Child - Review - North Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Flower Child is owned by the same people as True Food Kitchen, and you’ll find the same colorful, Instagrammy vibe at this Rock Rose spot. But this place is a little more laid-back - it’s order at the counter, the prices are a little lower, and you’ll want to use it for a daytime meal over a dinner out on the town." - Marisa Dunn

Google
Flower Child has been a pleasant surprise and now my almost daily place (usually 5-6x per week). Jeremy the GM noticed my daily order and introduced himself and made me feel valued and appreciated. The food is fresh, tasty, and healthy :) I feel better since I've been eating here over the past 6 weeks and counting. The place is clean and lively! The staff are all super sweet, attentive and detail oriented. Only good vibes, taste, and attention here. I'm thankful that it's affordable for me so that's a plus and feels wonderful to have a place I can call myself a regular. Thanks Jeremy and team for taking such great care of me as I'm super grateful for all of you :)

Google
Friendly service and lively atmosphere within The Domain. It’s nice to have both indoor and covered outdoor seating areas. Generally, the non-meat items are pretty good. I actually really liked the new cold sesame noodles. But the meat is pretty consistently overcooked and underwhelming. The salmon is pretty small, but more pointedly, it was pretty dry on the inside. My son’s steak (not pictured) was overcooked and chewy. My wife didn’t finish her dish.

Google
Came here for a late lunch on a weekday so it was probably less crowded than usual. You order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to you. The outdoor tables had tarp and coverings (January) but it was a pleasant environment eating outdoors without the wind and chill, I am sure it is really nice when the weather is better and the tarp comes down. Employees were friendly. The food definitely was a fusion style but the ingredients tasted fresh

Google
The avocado Caesar is delicious and you have to add the shrimp! They are perfectly cooked and juicy. Perfect lunch spot.

Google
My favorite dish is the Mac & cheese so I came here excited to have it. Placed a to go order. Didn’t realize until I was already on my way back to work that they put mashed potatoes in the bowl instead of mac&cheese. Still tastes good but pretty disappointed they messed up my favorite dish.

Google
Flower Child in Austin offers a fresh dining experience, but the service left much to be desired. I ordered the steak with sides of golden potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and the food was fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The sangria was also enjoyable, making for a well-rounded meal. You order at the counter, take a number, and find a table, but the tables were not cleaned before seating. The atmosphere was fine and not too crowded, but the service left a lot to be desired. The server was impolite and didn’t bring utensils with the food and I had to get my own even after she only brought on set. The cashier’s attitude wasn’t welcoming either, which made the experience less enjoyable. Overall, Flower Child delivers on food quality, but the service needs improvement. If you’re looking for a casual spot with fresh, tasty dishes, it’s worth a visit—just be prepared for potential service hiccups.

Google
Flower Child is somewhat similar to sweetgreen in that it has healthy meals with a few proteins and lots of vegetables. Their drinks are good, and I love the brussels sprouts and shrimp. The salmon is also very good.

Marlio Sanchez

Google
I don’t know if this the new normal or what but we’ve been eating at Flower Child for years now and I came yesterday and this is the amount of beef. First time that I had only 5 bites of steak. A little disappointed

Yelp
Decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend and head over to the Domain. Since it was so nice out, everyplace was packed. The line was wrapped outside over to Culinary but it moved quickly. Ordered the flying avocado wrap and a NA beer. They have a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non so that's always a plus. The food came out within 5-10 minutes despite them being packed. Wrap was packed full of ingredients, super fresh and delicious. The avocado hummus makes this wrap so tasty. Also, love that the turkey is chopped up versus giant slices so each bite gives you a more balanced overall taste. Snagged a seat outside to people watch and soak in the sunshine. Flower child is always a win in my book.

Yelp
The food at Flower Child never disappoints. Although this was my first time getting the smashed potatoes and it was a little too salty. I would prefer to sit down and order but counter ordering is okay. I just always feel rushed because someone is always in line behind you. On the upside, food delivery to your table is fast. Servers are very friendly and upbeat. We went at around 2:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday. They were busy busy. It took us almost 10 minutes to find an empty table. There was 3 of us in our party. We did finally find a table on the patio. It was nice outside and a lot quieter than inside. We have also had DoorDash from here and it's always great food and fast service.

Yelp
I love Flower Child. The Domain location is preferred because there's available parking and I've yet to have any issues at this location within the 5+ years I've been coming in. I've never had any issues finding a table to sit at, regardless of how busy they are. I appreciate the friendliness of their staff and their speed of service (for dine in and takeout). My go-to's are the Turkey Avocado Club, Mother Earth Bowl (add chicken) and the Crushed Avocado Toast. Happy to consider myself a "regular".

Yelp
Tried Flower Child when I was on a veggie diet for a month and honestly it made me consider permanently being vegetarian. I never knew vegetables could be so delicious and filling. I got one of the bowls. Every section of the bowl was a burst of fresh and unique flavors. Prices were what you'd expect from a trendy, farm to table restaurant in the domain ($16-25 per plate). Loved the vibes, very trendy and hippy. It's one of those order at the counter type restaurants, not table service, which isn't my preference. But still overall the experience was very pleasant.
google avatar

Brandy M.

Yelp
Listen I love love loveeee this place but four stars because honestly a coke or Pepsi would make this the perfect meal. It is a little expensive for a casual meal. The people working slayed I miss them already. Loved the queso and Mac and cheese and tofu.
google avatar

Yelp
We came in on a Sunday morning just before noon, the restaurant was less than half full. We ordered Brussels sprouts, chicken, and mac & cheese from the cashier. They handed us a number, and we chose our own table. They have a self-service area where you can pick up a cup of water, condiments, napkins and your silverware. The food was delivered to us quickly. The mac & cheese was mushy. The brussels sprouts were nicely salted. And the chicken was cooked perfectly. Everything was great considering flower child is an establishment that serves very healthy food. If you are shopping at the domain and develop a hunger, flower child is a great establishment to get a quick, healthy bite in.

Yelp
Flower Child is a delightful restaurant with a warm, bright, and inviting ambiance that instantly makes you feel at ease. The space is thoughtfully decorated, making it the perfect spot for a casual meal or a quick, feel-good bite. The menu is very versatile, offering entree platters and side dishes that cater to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. Every dish is crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it truly shows. Their gluten-free mac and cheese is a standout--creamy, flavorful, and comforting, it's easily the best I've ever had. I've never had a negative staff experience at any of their locations I've been to but have to say that the staff at the Domain location is consistently helpful and kind. They are always willing to answer any questions that you may have, whether big or small. What sets Flower Child apart is its seasonal menu items, which always offer something new and exciting to try. The focus on fresh, in-season ingredients ensures every dish bursts with flavor. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty entree or a light side, Flower Child has you covered. Highly recommend stopping by for a delicious, wholesome meal in a beautiful setting!

Yelp
Another good visit to flower child. Always a solid choice for a healthy option when needed and I'm in the area. Service is fast and efficient. All the locations I've been to so far a well kept with plenty of space
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
I ordered the entree with Shrimp, Rice, and Broccoli (7/10) and that was a great choice. Who knew such a simple meal could be so flavorful. Looking forward to going back soon!

Yelp
We were looking for a veggie-friendly place in Domain and found this place, liked the way their menu was structured so decided to try it out. Most of the restaurants that have a lot of alcoholic options in Domain are quite busy and the Flower child was less so I guess because they only have 2 Beer options, a Sangria and some wines. Good for us, because this was enough for us. We got Chicken Yakisoba noodles, a grilled Chicken plate, and a Veggie plate. The food was very nice except the grilled chicken was dry and could have more flavor to it.

Yelp
New Year's resolutions are here and Flower Child is the perfect a lot to keep up year round. All pleasure, no guilt with anything on the menu. Started with the Hummus (always add the crudités). Castelvetrano olive oil gives it a little extra something, and the vegetables are always fresh, cold, and crisp! I had the cabbage roll special... it was delicious! I hope they add this to the regular menu. My husband had the Glow Bowl, when they say sweet potato noodles, it's spiral cut sweet potato! Passion Iced Tea, so good. Clean, bright, fun atmosphere, and service is always prompt and courteous.
google avatar

Yelp
Yum! I love the ambiance of flower child and the workers are always friendly. The location is great and the parking garage makes it even better. Plenty of seating. While it's probably not the cheapest meals, it's still worth going back!

Yelp
One of my most revisited places in the Domain. Great atmosphere inside and the patio for visiting with friends during lunch hour or settling in and getting some work done. The decor and vibe is so relaxing, beautiful, and light. Even the bathrooms exude a cute atmosphere. I love that I can get Family Business Beer here! The Sangria they currently have is also refreshing and light. Our group ordered the Turkey & Avocado Cobb, the Flying Avocado Wrap, and the Mother Earth bowl with salmon added. Our food is always delivered to our table artfully on the plate, clearly with care. Everything is highly customizable and a perfect choice for vegetarian or health conscious folks. There are plenty of options for nonalcoholic, and even health drinks available in a cooler by the front and they always have different, flavorful lemonades to choose from as well. Ordering is simple and easy at the front counter with friendly staff. They have a large menu stationed outside the front for you to view and be ready to order, as well as screens above the ordering counter that show your options.

Yelp
My husband, I came to this restaurant which is located at the Domain. Upon entering, the food is ordered at the counter, and later delivered to the table. They have an assortment of beautiful healthy food. They have their own special salad dressing, which is sugar-free. Their vegetables tasted fresh and crisp and flavorful. Their iced tea was refreshing and healthy, without additives or sugar. The decor was bright and cheerful. The prices were very reasonable. I loved my experience at this restaurant. I will be visiting this restaurant again.

Yelp
Flower child is one of the best options that provide delicious, healthy, customizable options for you. Everything is so good, but my favorite dish so far is the Mediterranean chicken kabob bowl. I also love that they have all the macros listed on their website which is great if you're tracking your meals. They also have so many options to choose from if you decide you want to assemble your own plate. Lastly I love the aesthetic! It has such a cute patio that overlooks the street, and the bathrooms are very clean and nice inside. It has everything you want - delicious, healthy, great location, ambience, and options!
google avatar

Yelp
The Flower Child has good, healthy options to choose from. I chose the Miso Ginger Crunch Salad with steak as my protein. I enjoyed the miso ginger sauce over the salad. The steak was tender and plentiful. The service was great, too. Once we ordered the food at the cashier, our food was on the table in 5 to 10 minutes. Flower Child even offers water with cups for passersby. My only suggestion is that since the cashier is located at the door, people are standing in line inside and outside the door. It was a little confusing. Perhaps Flower Child could use a rope box sorts like at a bank to control the line. The place is casual and clean with both indoor and outdoor seating. The noise level is moderate. I think it's a good place to eat light with friends or family.
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
Tried this place for first time on Saturday afternoon. The idea of healthy option drew us in. Ordered at the counter and found a seat. Drinks are at a separate counter as self serve. Shrimp bowl was ok. Shrimp was like frozen small shrimp you can buy in any grocery frozen section. Very fishy tasting. Didn't care for butternut squash recipe. The brown rice was fine. They ran out of silverware so we had to wait for them to wash some. Overall not impressed. My kid did like their meal which was grilled chicken, broccoli and corn quinoa. The sangria was also tasty although not flavor I ordered. Didn't meet our expectations but we did eat most of it.
google avatar

Haley F.

Yelp
Chicken - good flavor / seasoning Mac and Cheese - Tasty; Good healthy Mac Broccoli with parmesan - Good crunch. However, I didn't taste any parmesan Overall: 8/10 - It's a good place for healthy food and the portion size was good, especially for a kids meal! Honorable mention: they have a lemon water stand for the public outside. The water is great and much appreciated in this Texas heat!
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
Flower child has a ton of great healthy options and it's a beautiful environment to dine with friends!

Hanna-Rose H.

Yelp
Great choices of healthy food and some more unhealthy options! All of it is flavorful and delicious. I like ordering at the front here.
google avatar

Marisa P.

Yelp
I am not a healthy person by any means. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want it. But this bowl was DAMN GOOD! Mother Earth bowl with chicken. Combines every good seed and grain this world has to offer. And whatever sauce is on this, YES. Overpriced LOL but made two meals for me! Lots of indoor seating options. Food was brought to us quick. Will definitely be back!!!
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
Food is well prepared. Fresh and healthy portions. Placed a to go order and was fulfilled in the time promised.
google avatar

Victoria H.

Yelp
Well, I eat here about once a week lol. I always get the flying avocado! It never misses & the little greens salad that comes with is very simple but super yummy. I've also had the sweet potato fries & they're good too. The lunch rush on the weekend can sometimes have a line out the door, however the staff has a great system for getting people in & out - there's usually always seating & if not, someone leaves shortly after you check out. Inside is always clean, including the bathrooms.. plus they play good music! They also have this citrus water outside that I make sure to have each time, it's like a treat!
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Food: it was very fresh and healthy. Quantity was appropriate, and the price was good. Service: very little service, but they delivered the food. The cashier suggested some food options that were yummy. Ambiance: Nice for a date or meeting with a friend. It's not the best place for the group. It is not a place that I will think about hanging out with a friend but good for eating and let's go.
google avatar

Sam Z.

Yelp
Service was friendly and fast. I had takeout, but ambiance seemed fast casual. Food was ok. I had a grain bowl, and some of the grain was undercooked (it's happened to the best of us). As an affordable, healthy option, this was convenient, but I probably wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Cindy D.

Yelp
Now this restaurant is on my Have To Go Back to List! I order the CHICKEN ENCHILADAS 14.95 which was made with guajillo chile, smoked gouda, poblano crema, organic black bean, roasted corn, and avocado. OMG, this was to die for! All the flavors melded together into one delicious entree. I can't say enough about this delicious taste treat. It had spice, heat, cheese, creaminess from the avocado, and sweet from the corn. I will definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Kelly Dues T.

Yelp
Always a great place. Parisian cafe vibe with plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Loved the new Spicy Coconut Curry and added steak. The steak was tender and soft. They're great with allergies and have gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I love the chocolate pudding that's coconut milk based. The Domain is a great place to shop and there are free parking garages everywhere to shade your car. The purple haze kombucha had an interesting flavor with the cinnamon and clove combined with lavender. I could still taste the lavender. Definitely kid friendly. Great service!
google avatar

Victoria V.

Yelp
If you're looking for something flavorful that won't have you feeling like you ate too much...this is definitely your place. Don't expect rich savory greasiness, this is more light with the perfect combination of different vegetables and grains. I ordered the Mother Earth bowl with chicken. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting to try healthier eating, you won't be disappointed! You'll get full without the sick feeling and the vibe check there is on point! The service here is quick, friendly, and mellow.
google avatar

Julie Z.

Yelp
I love, love, love this place! Even though you might initially find that it is expensive, I dare you to try and find all of the ingredients to make one of their meals for less. The staff was really friendly, they get the food out quickly, it's a pretty and clean place to dine. They don't rush you in and out. I got the Mother Earth and added chicken. The Mother Earth contains: ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, charred onion, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette, hemp seed for 11.95 or do like I did and add a protein for a little more. It's a huge serving. I definitely think you'll have extra to take home. Next time I'm in there I may just ask my dining partner to split it with me. I loved the place and will go back!
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
The food is so good here. I tend to go with my beloved salad each time but others have raved about their dishes. You order at the counter and the waitstaff brings it to you when ready. It's a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating options.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Ordered to go, had a 20 minute commute and the food was still was hot. Everything was well seasoned and the order was finished right at quoted time. Ordered through the website which was quite simple. It does ask for an email for promotions down the line. The mac & cheese is gluten-free and it's packed with flavor and not gritty. My favorite was the broccoli with breadcrumbs on top. They were seasoned and tender. Two plates, a drink and 10% tip put me right at $42...do with that what you will.
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Got food to go! 4 bowls came out in less than 10 minutes which was super quick. Good service and good food. I got the mushroom bolognese. It was well seasoned, loved the almond ricotta - it added just the right amount of creaminess to the tomato sauce. The squash noodles were so delicious and healthy. The bowl left me very full.
google avatar

Eden C.

Yelp
Just needed a quick meal and got the Mother Earth bowl + kombucha. The kombucha was just okay, I prefer a more carbonated & fermented booch, but the bowl was so delicious! Each part was seasoned well and super fresh. The salmon (added on) was also perfectly cooked, which many restaurants don't do right. Service was quick. Didn't eat there, but the restaurant is very cute.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
Loved this place! It was my first time eating here and I really enjoyed it. I got the Avocado Caesar Salad, which was delicious! They also had a lemon water dispenser outside in the patio seating area so people can stay hydrated, which was really nice and thoughtful.
google avatar

Nina P.

Yelp
Flower child is a great place with many healthy options. I loved that you could create your own plate with multiple options for proteins and sides. My favorites were the salmon, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, and the olive oil cake.
google avatar

Pree R.

Yelp
Ever since my first visit to Flower Child in The Woodlands, it has been a tried a true favorite. I think my first experience at The Woodlands location was a good one, because I remember having the best mac and cheese along with sweet potato and tofu. In fact, when I dig up my Yelp review of that location, I recall it was a flavorful yet filling entree (not to mention nutritious)! This time around, I had the cauliflower risotto instead of the mac and cheese. It was good, but I think it lacked flavor. I'm happy that they have a location in the Domain---there are SO many restaurants to check out in this central location, but the Flower Child here is worth a visit, even if you've visited other locations. I prefer the space and seating here, especially compared to the downtown Austin location. The staff are friendly, and my food came out quickly!
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the turkey cob salad today. Price is decent and the amount of salad you get is definitely a meal that fills you up. They didn't skimp on the turkey either. I don't recall the dressing but it was so good I really enjoyed the entire salad. Didn't even leave any scraps for compost.
google avatar

Bryan M.

Yelp
Walking around The Domain, the menu at Flower Child surprisingly stuck out the most to me. It was unique, healthy, and the inside was bright and spacious. I got the chips and green chili queso, the Mother Earth bowl with salmon, and a cider. The bill was pricier than I would've liked but honestly that is too be expected when in this area. That being said, it wasn't outrageous and I very much enjoyed my meal. The queso and chips were good and had a nice amount of heat but the queso was a bit grainy. It didn't take away from the experience, it was just something I noticed. The Mother Earth bowl was nice and bright and fresh but also filling for the portion size that came out. The salmon was a bit overcooked but the bowl was a welcome change from the type of food I usually eat and refreshing on that hot and humid day.
google avatar

Yelp
The location - conveniently located right by the main entrance to The Domain and across from blue garage parking. Ambiance - simple and beautiful with decent amount of seating inside and on patio (covered for cool and rainy days but still cold~) Service and Food - you order food at the counter and it gets delivered to table. Given it was a wet cold Sunday and lunchtime, food came out reasonably on time and nice and warm. Didn't have any interaction with server so no comments there. Hostess who took my order was friendly and helpful with navigating the menu since it was first time. While food was delicious, it was not filling. We had only ordered from main menu and no sides/appetizers/bite food. So given all of that it felt bit pricey to me but then vegan and clean eating like restaurant tend to charge a couple more dollars and then this is Domain area so felt like high price was a given. (Still not justifying to me for serving smaller and lighter portion.) Mushroom bolognese- There were like 3 chick peas to it and tomato sauce was ridiculously watery. Nothing in the dish that was filing I basically ate zoodles in watery tomato sauce. Mediterranean Chicken Kabob - on point on flavor and chicken was perfectly cooked. But not enough to even fill you up even 75%. Sangria (not pictured) - spiced apple and vanilla - was pretty refreshing. Will give one more try to give a final verdict.

Yelp
Flower Child is always a good experience with healthy, fresh food and a clean, appealing atmosphere. I typically venture to the Flower Child downtown near my house but was pleasantly surprised when we visited this location last week.
google avatar

Sulisa C.

Yelp
I am very impressed by their salads. I ordered the turkey chop salad with the lemon avocado vinaigrette and a side of organic brown rice. I was looking for a place that would offer dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free options. The person taking my order was very friendly and helpful as we tried to figure out what I could order. They were attentive to my requests and just really down to earth - simply excellent customer service. Hands down, this was one of the best salads I've ever had! I'll definitely be back again. The prices were very reasonable too.
google avatar

Cam H.

Yelp
This was surprisingly more flavorful than other healthy spots I've tried. The price was a bit steep for the portion though ($21). I really enjoyed their sweet potato. This place is located in the Domain, so plenty of parking in the garage but it can get pretty hectic during peak hours. Good service. Spacious inside, plenty of seatings.
google avatar

Thomas L.

Yelp
It's an excellent healthy option place in Austin. We tried Avacado Caesar salad and Chicken Yakisoba. They both were very good with fresh ingredients. They were nicely located next to the Domain shopping area. Since we were looking for a late lite dinner, this fits very well. I recommend this place for anyone in the area to try. We were there for a vacation, and it was near our hotel, and it worked out well. If it were in my area, I would make this place our regular. Service was excellent, and it had the ambiance of a casual, simple place with not too much splash. It reminded me of Panera Bread.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
Mother's Day late lunch: fast seating, even faster service, with a lovely patio that offered plenty of opportunities for people-watching. Delicious food (even for the vegans), and a surprisingly drinkable Sauvignon Blanc (on tap. ). Much, much better than my experience with the downtown Austin location. To be fair, that was a decade ago.

Megan D.

Yelp
Ok let me start here. I work 80 hours a week and I starve myself to feed my children. So I finally scrounge up enough money to buy myself a meal. I'm so excited to try this new and hip restaurant....but once I open my order disaster strikes. I picked it up and skipped all the way back to work, ready to fill my belly with potato and shrimp. But once I open this abomination, I see that the flower child employees have forsaken me. WHY is there a grotesque mound of potato. AND 4 shrimp! This is appalling...I wouldn't even feed it to my children. This place needs to be shut down. This will not be the last time they hear from MEGAN DOUGLAS

Yelp
Love that this place is actually covered in flowers and plants on both the inside and outside of the establishment. The tables are marble with cute lounge chairs. The outside makes you feel like your in Italy or something. Anyway, the service was great, they were down to earth and very friendly, super attentive. The food, was great! I ordered the Thai Dye wrap which tasted like they had kimchi with traditional Korean flavors. Loved that they added avacado to it and a spinach salad on the side. Gave the dish a very smooth flavor with a slow heat from the kimchi seasoning.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Been wanting to eat here forever and finally got the chance! The flying avocado wrap was delicious, and so much bigger than I expected. Everyone loved their food, and the location was central and cute. Knocking a star of because the fountain drinks were limited and didn't tase great, the order counter queue got crowded and confusing, and it was so cold inside that I had to wear my down coat.
google avatar

Mabel C.

Yelp
Even though their menu is a little pricey, all of the food I have ordered here, has been really good. I like that they have a lot of whole and fresh foods, as nothing seems processed or low quality. I enjoy the different sauces and pesto they add to a variety of their meals, and I enjoy their homemade tea and rose petal lemonade. Everything is seasoned well, cooked to "perfection", fills you up plenty and comes to your table quickly. Yes, sometimes it is hard to find a table for a larger group, but I don't blame them. It just means they're a hit with a lot of people. More just as a heads up for anyone who wants to dine here. And A LOT of healthy options! 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good and fast healthy options, in a pleasantly casual modern atmosphere. We were looking for a place to meet up with some friends for dinner while in Austin and they suggested this place for dinner since they knew we were vege- pescatarian. Located in a new and trendy shopping center, it's definitely aimed for those looking for heathier options. We were more than in the mood for some healthier fare after days of road trip food, and they delivered. I got the chopped salad with grilled salmon, and the hubby got the Mother Earth bowl. Both were generously-sized and nicely prepared, with fresh ingredients. They definitely hit the spot!
