Given all the positive reviews, I was really looking forward to my first visit to Flower Child. Though I loved the food, which I thought was very tasty and creatively put together, the customer service left much to be desired.
I got there at around 2:00pm on the Wednesday after Christmas. The restaurant was nearly empty -- and while there was plenty of staff laughing and joking with one another -- I waited some time before someone came to take my order at the takeout line. After I placed my order, I was told to wait until my name was called. I sat at a table next to the register, occupied myself, and waited.
After about 35 minutes, I realized that it was taking an awfully long time. I went up to the cashier -- there were about five of them huddling around the front gossiping about personal affairs -- and I asked if someone could please check on my order. One of them casually said, "oh, your order came out already. Someone should have called you." He then went to fetch my order that was placed on a nearby rack. Without even an apology or explanation, he thrust my order at me, said, "cheers," and walked back to his colleagues to resume gossiping.
Fittingly, I arrived at my destination only to find no napkins or utensils in the bag.
Again, while I thought the food was excellent -- though cold -- the careless, lackadaisical, and uncaring attitude really put a damper on my overall experience. The food is great, but the service was very disappointing.
