I'm not usually a huge fan of snow cones, but I do recall when we were in New Orleans a few years ago, that the shaved ice there was just better somehow. So when I heard a new shop had opened up selling New Orleans style shaved ice right near Trademark Brewing, I had to check it out.
As soon as we walked in, the owner was super friendly, you could tell how much he enjoyed his job - when we said it was our first time there, you could tell he was excited to tell us about the place, about all the flavors and options (I learned they're not just inspired by New Orleans flavors, he actually imports all his syrups and stuff from New Orleans! They even have a few other imports from NoLa you can buy), and to let us try samples of as many of them as we wanted (there's a huge list! I wanted to try all of them, though I stopped after about 6, haha). He even gave us a sample, unprompted, of one of them drizzled with condensed milk, which was *very* smart of him, because adding condensed milk is $1, and now that I know how good it is that way, I'm definitely going to do that almost every time I'm here!
I also love that, unlike with ice cream, you can mix-and-match absolutely as much as you want, for the same price - I got a blend of the mango mojito, peach mojito, and "hurricane" flavor, with condensed milk, and it was excellent! *Extremely* sweet, obviously, but delicious. The other nice thing, unlike with fancy ice cream places generally, their "small", for $3.50 (well, $4.50 with condensed milk, which again, I strongly recommend) is still kind of enough sugar for one person at a time! I enjoyed it, but if let's just say, if you'd handed me a second one after I finished the first one, I wouldn't have enjoyed the second one nearly as much. (You'll notice, in that extremely hypothetical situation, I am still assuming I'd *eat* the second one. :D)
They have various other toppings you can add, too, from the relatively healthy (I can absolutely imagine adding a dollar's worth of fresh strawberries on a relatively regular basis), to the definitely the opposite of that, and most likely what will end up making them famous when some big influencer or something posts about it, their "cheesecake-stuffed" shaved ice, which I *definitely* didn't have room for that time, but which I definitely will have to try at some point, when I want a bigger dessertier dessert!) I also learned (sadly after I'd already finished it), you can make them spicy with tajin, which would have been a perfect addition, I'm sure!
They do have a couple small seats inside, but it's primary a grab-and-go sort of place. Next time I might just take it to Trademark, anyway, it's around the corner! (I also look forward to going back because I haven't tried all the flavors yet!)
