I just moved to Charlottesville and I decided to try FlyDog Yoga for the first time. The website said to arrive early for your first class, in order to register, setup your mat and have time to relax before class. This seems reasonable as most studios suggest this. I arrived 20 minutes early since it's a holiday weekend and I figured they'd be busy. The door was locked, I guess they don't let anyone in until 15 minutes prior, which I wish I would have known. After the previous class let out, they opened the doors and a few people, including myself went in. There was no one at the front desk, and I had to wait around with two other yogis. While waiting I saw at least 3 people go behind the front desk to get something. They were all people who work there, but were not working at that time? None of those people made eye contact with me, even though I was clearly waiting to be helped. Also, none of them volunteered to get the person who was supposed to be working the front desk. They just ignored me, and I continued to wait. Finally at 5 minutes before class, someone came to the front and asked "Is there something you need?"
The front desk person didn't welcome me, or ask me what brought me to the studio. They never ever asked me if I had done yoga before. They didn't offer any information about the studio or offer to give me a tour. I felt like they didn't care that I was there or if I come back, even though I was interested in the Intro Package.
The class was okay. The instructor was nice. The bad feeling at the beginning of my experience over shadowed the yoga class. In all fairness, I will give it another shot. I hope my second experience is much better. I would give them one star, but since the instructor was polite, I'm being nice and giving them two stars.
