Pretty cool little spot! Came here for a trivia night with work friends. The food here is good and well prepared, it seems fresh and not microwaved. The bartender/server was very nice — she was the only one handling the crowd that night and she did great. The trivia was quite niche and difficult but we managed somehow. Prices were good and everything was clean here. Great little bar to meet new people and enjoy the game.

Good place to play a pool and get some good bites. I am amazed by the wide variety of sandwiches and drinks here. I got fried chicken sandwich and it is reasonably good compared to the price. The feature that attracted us most is the pool and the TV screen to watch a tennis game. I made a request to the bar person and she kindly changed it for us. Oh and she is very good at playing a pool! She played with us upon our request as we missed one person. It was a good evening!

I was caught off guard by how tasty the sandwich was! They have a great variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and condiments, so if none of their savory options interest you, you can also build your own! I don't drink, so I can't say anything about their alcohol selection, but everyone at the bar seemed to be having a grand old time. The bartender was also exceptionally friendly and answered all my questions about the menu with patience and a smile.

October 2019: Bumping up to 5 🌟. 🍻 selection is great 👍. Had a delicious juicy Henhouse NEIPA. Owner picks some great 🍻. July 2018: Stopped by for lunch. Had a tuna sandwich on Dutch crunch 🍞. Was pretty good. Basic sandwich. Also tried the chicken pesto salad. Was just ok. October 2017: Love the 🍺 selection and the tuna 🎏 sandwiches.

Sauerkraut Hotdog was very tasty, including the potato salad as a side. Nice beer selection and very good service. Highly recommended

Used to come here all the time pretty cool spot the bartenders are usually really nice, sadly it seems they changed their hotdogs which used to be super bomb like the only ones I would consider getting while out, now they are not so good I’d give them a 3/5 main issue being the actual dog

Came for some beer and chips while I was waiting for my car to be ready. Hazy IPA on tap was delicious. Looks like the sandwiches are popular. Ambiance is nice. Will definitely be coming back.

I came for beer, football and a sandwich. All three accomplished. Comfortable, divey bar / lounge that has a large beer selection. I was impressed with the Pesto Turkey sandwich, came out warm with fresh ingredients.

Pretty cool joint. The place is pretty spacious with stools, tables, TVs, and sofas. Came here for some eats and couple of drinks. Servers and bartenders provided great service. Tried their French dip sandwich. Pretty good. My cocktail wasn't too bad either. Really nice spot to come back to when I'm in the area. Just a bummer that they don't stay open late especially weekends.

A picture is worth a thousand words. But the drinks, food and abundance of options here will leave you speechless. Please don't make the mistake I made. I lived in the neighborhood for 5 long years, long before the pandemic and never ventured in this spot. Shame. I now know I had limited my life experiences from the pleasures of The Flying Pig. But that can be and has been corrected. I really appreciate the spaciousness in the place. A variety of seating choices with comfy couches and cafe chairs. Cool for hangin out, chowin down or grinding in on your studying/work stuff. The place is dog friendly and open to kids as well.

Great food and good vibes. This place has a little bit of everything from food and drink . They also have a bar. The chili nachos were yummy.

the gluten free focaccia here is to die for. the sandwiches are huge and a great value. i will definitely return as this is one of the best sandwiches that i've had in a long time

I came here for trivia nights YEARS ago before the pandemic and it was a blast (even though we came in last place L-O-L at us). I'm not sure if they still do trivia, but the laid back atmosphere is still the same. I'm really glad it's still around. I like the comfy, spacious seats and the folks are really friendly. Fun place to hang out with friends!

Low key spot with food (which I didn't test). Not bad but closes early so I'm docking them a star.

Ordered a sandwich on my lunch break and it took about an hour to get made. Good beer selections though

Well did we just happen to stumble into this wonderful joint!! Ben the owner greeted us at the door asking what can I get for you! Well I had the chicken ceased bacon wrap and it was full of chicken and quite filling!! I also had the chili and it was off the hook tasty! All in all everything was so clean and inviting so we will be back for sure, it's been here for 10 years so it has a local vibe little did I even know it was here now that I do we will be back for sure!!!

I'm not going to lie, I'm a restaurant snob and I wasn't 100% sold on this restaurant. Thank goodness my coworker convinced me to go in! The pastrami sandwich is so amazing that I made it my profile picture lol. And the staff is extremely friendly. I've been back a few times now and each experience has been great.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go after work before jumping on the Bart. I am happy the owner is still in business. While I no longer live in California and transferred my job, I will say, this place is amazing and if you get drunk enough to be formally told by the owner to "just go home, we like you". You have a place in Flying Pig Society.

This place is perfect. It's cozy, it's chill, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The bartenders are all super nice. It's unpretentious and homey and just wonderful frankly.

2.5 STARS For our weekly office lunch on Friday, January 20th, I decided to try Flying Pig Bistro Pub. It arrived via Forkable around 12 noon. It had been a rainy week so I wanted something hot. I decided to order the Hot Chicken Pesto Sandwich: Chicken breast, house pesto, roasted red bell pepper, provolone, tomato, onions, mixed greens and vinaigrette on a Sourdough Roll ($9.25). Unfortunately, it wasn't hot and melty like I thought it would be. Shouldn't a hot sandwich be toasted at least? The filling was good though. I adored the pesto sauce! I'm normally not into bread much, so I found the roll to be too much. I was hoping since I ordered a hot sandwich, it was going meld into a nice melty bite. (Especially if it was going to be pressed on a panini press like I was hoping it would be.) But since it was room temperature, I just decided to eat the filling without the bread. Overall, my Chicken Pesto was a good sandwich. But it shouldn't be l listed as a hot sandwich when it isn't. I probably would have ordered something else had I known that.

When I was exclusively gluten-free I would regularly order sandwiches from this pub because: 1. Gluten-free focaccia bread here is DELICIOUS! 2. Sandwich fillings are TASTEE! 3. Customer service is FRIENDLY : ) 4. Take out order are ALWAYS right! 5. Eating there is COZY and relaxing Staff is always able to accommodate and modify the sandwich condiments and prepare the orders quickly and correctly. The sandwiches are always fresh and make being gluten-free an enjoyment. And their chai lattes with almond milk are amazing : ) You can also add chips, potato salad, or a green salad. I like their potato salad because it is a good side portion that has large slices of potatoes and just the right amount of seasoning. Walking in, the bar runs lengthwise on the left side of the pub and the tables are on the right side of the room. There is also comfy seating toward the front, where you can settle in to enjoy your food and drink. You order your food at the cash register that is directly at the front of the bar. They have a menu that you can look at either in person or on their website. I've only been there during the day, so I can imagine that it's a fun scene for those who enjoy beer and the night scene at the edge of the Mission (it's located on South Van Ness Avenue about 3 and a half blocks from 16th Street Mission BART).

Stopped by here one night on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! Looks very unassuming from the outside, but it's got a very homey vibe inside. Kind of a strange layout, but it totally works. It's like a bar meets a coffee shop meets a yard sale, but I'm down for it! Got a Rueben sandwich which was pretty good considering how hard it is to find a decent sandwich in the city for less than $20... Was also conned into getting a beer which I'm not mad about. Overall, will be back, even though it's a bit out of the way for me. SF needs more down to earth places like this and hopefull this one sticks around. Also happened to be trivia night (Tuesdays I guess) and there were only two groups involved (keep in mind it's Covid and a Tuesday) who seemed like regulars which was nice to see. Check it out. Came here on a whim because it was within walking distance from an appointment I had in the area. Great food and beer. The ambiance was also very chill.

This hole in the wall pub is down the street from one of my work locations and I frequent here whenever I am in the area. Usually I just come here for a coffee, sometimes some breakfast or lunch food. From the outside you wouldn't expect much of this place, especially in terms of food. However, I love the selection of food and the quality is always great and consistent. My favorite breakfast item is the Chipotle Bacon sandwich on a bagel. Ben is the owner and he is a very nice guy, I am happy to see that his place seems to have survived the pandemic. I will continue to frequent this business due to the quality of food, service and the cozy vibes.

Great sours and French dip! Great music and movies. Easiest fix! Wanna learn to play pool.

#78/2016 There's some charm in The Flying Pig that can't decide if it's a bar or a cafe. Frankly, the bar is winning by a pig's snout but it's nice you can get some decent sandwiches, chili, soups and other simple fare especially to mop up the alcohol. You order at the register, pour your own water from a mismatched assortment of glasses (my eye spy little boy zeroed in on a Mason jar, what is it about kids wanting to drink from Mason jars?) He ordered a medium "yogurt parfait", a bowl of Greek yogurt with granola, dried cranberries and raisins, a chocolate chip cookie (was too tired to say no) and a banana. I had the American breakfast burrito and it was massive and delicious (bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, avocado & potato) and the largest mug of coffee ever seen in San Francisco. My little boy asked for a bite then decided he'd keep half my burrito, too, lol. If I were doing a DYL round robin, I'd suggest to the gang to head over to The Flying Pig for some good grub & a top off. But since I don't do that anymore, I headed over from my (great) mechanic across the street - BMW Motors if you're taking notes, you should, Clifford's great- to bide my time while he tinkered with my car. Good place to grab a decent bite or Happy Hour/last call and some food.

Need a reasonably priced smog check on a Sunday? Try SFC Motors across the street (398 South Van Ness). And don't want to wait in a drafty area with plastic chairs? Then you've come to the right place! A hot chocolate with whipped cream puts you back a mere $4 (that's with a dollar tip). This place has just the right combo of friendly and funky. Real green plants (some look pretty thirsty), leather couch, rattan chairs, local art on the wall and trivia game publicity on the cash register. And for those who like their craft beer, Happy Hour 4-7 pm M-F.

I work nearby here and have continued coming back since they've opened. So glad to have a place like this in the neighborhood. This is a cafe/pub & the place is comfy as hell just makes you want to stick around for hours working or talking, long after you've finished your meal. And the food here is SO GOOD. I haven't tried anything I don't like, when I saw the bar set up I didn't expect much from the food but damn they make some seriously tasty salads and even better sandwiches * I haven't gone to trivia night but I've heard really good things from people who do go. Definitely try this place out!!

Wait... it's a bar, but it's a coffee place? It's a sports bar kinda, but it's a place where I'm comfortable in the dark, with my notebook, training a TensorFlow model! And on top of it all, the latte was pretty good. Was this a dream? Too much sleep deprivation?

I'm really lucky to live so close to an awesome spot that has a big menu and selection of drinks too. The Flying pig is an interesting blend of spaces to make what it is. Definitely check it out with a friend and enjoy something in this chill spot. There is an awesome plant store near by and two TVs going for patrons as well. Lots of space to collaborate with friends on work too

Such a great name, isn't it? I assume it comes from the phrase, "When pigs fly", which is an adynaton, a figure of speech so hyperbolic that it describes an impossibility. There's your English lesson for today. Class dismissed. Anyway, this place is light on the flying pig decor, just a couple behind the bar. And much to my surprise, it really is more bar than bistro. I've passed by it thinking it could be fun to try a neighborhood spot that isn't in my neighborhood, so I convinced Jamie W. to have an early Sunday supper there. The menu is not huge here - soups, starter and entree salads, sandwiches and hot dogs. They also have a small breakfast selection - bagels, burritos, oatmeal, a smoothie, and that's about it food-wise. The overall vibe is casual. Young families appear to be regulars here with their toddlers running up and down the space in the late afternoon, but they are soon overtaken by young couples looking for libations to go with their appetites. Jamie ordered the $10.50 Cobb Salad, which was a good-size plate of mixed greens with chopped chicken and bacon, blue-cheese crumbles, a hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, onions and croutons accompanied by a honey mustard dressing (photo: http://bit.ly/1c0lzLl). Nothing extraordinary but it was hearty, healthy eating, just what we expected. A hidden gem, I almost don't want to review it!! This pub has an impressive sandwich and bagel selection, including tons of gluten free bread alternatives. They have Tuesday trivia that's super fun. Honestly it's a great place for hanging out in the afternoon and early evening if you want some food, drinks and a chill place to hang out. Highly recommend checking it out! It's a favorite spot of ours :)

I am not a regular here at the Flying Pig Bistro. In fact I hopefully won't be a regular just because I was only here due to a flat tire and service being performed at Larkin Brothers across the street. Don't get me wrong, this pig is a good pig. I feel the need to review this place just to say that The Mission used to have more small, unhip but local businesses like Flying Pig Bistro and slowly they have been pushed out. I appreciate the earlier hours of opening, the thoughtful conversation effort and awkward eagerness by the cashier, the character of the decor and the prompt service. If I lived in the 3 block radius this would be my place, but I don't so I hope others give this flying pig a chance to perform. Because bagels and black tea in the morning are a must.

Really great, casual sports bar in the Mission district. The food is good and the bartender was awesome. This place saved our day, since we were super disappointed in the Mission district. It was not at all what we expected.

Super cheap beers. Great atmosphere. Server (in bib overalls) was so sweet- like so sweet. It would be safe to say we stayed because of her and came to love everything. Note. This is a dive bar. A classic dive bar. Now with that being said, Try a hot dog. Do it. I had the"bacon ranch cheddar dog" and I am not mad about it. You can skip the apps- trust me. Just eat a dog.

I love this place located near SF's soma district, this place is trendy, good eats, and better brews. The server is supper friendly and will help navigate you through their immense sand which and beer/wine list. The food is HELLA good, my fav is the bbq chicken pineapple on Dutch crunch with the triple IPA from Lagunitas ($18 total). Oh and you can't forget the bottomless mimosas all day 'til 3

This place is my jam, my watering hole of all liquids be it coffee or beer. Ben is always sweet and great and really connects to his guests which is a plus in this cold cold world :p Trivia nights on Tuesdays are poppin when I get the chance to peep, game nights are light and cheery bright. I've gotten pretty wasted from the robust beer collection they offer. The food is good too and in a kooky but familiar location of my life.

Recommendation: Bar atmosphere with Trivia night on Tuesdays at 7pm. Good sandwich/hot dog menu for food. Great scrappy, family style cobbled-together vibes. This is a decent little bar in the Mission, a block off Mission between 15th and 16th. I can't particularly comment on the alcohol menu, as I haven't gotten anything, but the food was pretty decent. The meals all come with a bag of chips, and there are a few unique flavors (Rosemary and Olive oil!) but those are just auxiliary to the main dish. I believe I got the Danger Dog, which was a hot dog that had pepper jack, bacon, banana peppers, and more! I thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated that it was stuffed with ingredients, which made it hard to eat but much more filling. While the plate was of a nice design, I thought it was a little oversized and barren, considering the sandwich and the pepper slices were the only things on it. The rest of the menu seems to be fairly limited, only offering hot dogs and sandwiches for the most part. That being said, everything seems to be pretty delicious, if not a little overpriced for what you get. As for the interior, it really does feel homey. Mismatched chairs, close quarters seating, and an overall warm vibe. However, they tend to leave the door open which means that it can get rather cold inside. Besides that though, it feels like it has been around for a while and is well-used. We have only been before on Tuesday nights at 7pm for weekly trivia night, an opportunity to play 4 10-question rounds of trivia by some random people that frequent the bar. Winners and losers all receive free drinks on the organizers, and this trivia is just about as laid back as you can get. The organizers seem to come up with very random and inconsistently-difficult questions about anything and everything, but in general it seems to cater more towards the 30s crowd than young folk. For example, there was a question about 90s TV shows, which many younger people may not have experienced. All in all though, it's a good place to go and spend a Tuesday night doing trivia with friends. No need to buy anything, no cover or other entrance fees, just a relaxed time to hang out. Pretty good!

This is a great place for great conversations and beers! I'd typically catch the game here after a long day of work for a beer or two! There are not much like these anymore so it's wonderful to get that vibe. They have extraordinary beers and delicious sandwiches and small plates all shareable.

Only stumbled in this place because I really needed to use a restroom ... Got a chai latte with soy milk and I was actually pretty happy with it! It was sUper spiced up which left a nice warm sensation in my throat every time I took a sip. The space is super chill too so it was nice to just sit and hangout a bit!

The world needs more places like this: Is it a cafe - ripe with the smell of freshly ground arabica beans? A place where you can crush 4 or 5 espresso drinks and send 18,500 emails before noon with rock hard focus? Yes. Is it also a bar - where the abundance of draft beer make beer snobs happy - yet make normal people say "Dude Wtf. Just pour me a beer"? Yes. Is it also a bistro - where the sandwiches are made of meat, and bread, and cheese and maybe even some sauce? Why yes, it's that too. And to top it all off, the prices are solid. Especially for San Fransisco. How do I know this? I'm here now. I'm drunk. I had a coffee. And I paid.

Awesome place, cool vibe and incredible customer service! I was changing my flat tire nearby so my hands were really dirty. I found this place to clean up a little. Not only haven't I seen a single sign of an irritation (something you would expect given my request to wash myself) but they also allowed me to use their kitchen sink because someone occupied the bathroom for a long time. I know it's just a minor thing, but these little details are what differentiate well from great. Loved the place so much that I decided to hang out here. Enjoying my hot herbal tea with some lemon this rainy afternoon. Too bad I'm not hungry. Will definitely come again to try out the food and leave another yelp review describing my experience.

Love this homely and welcoming place. Not crowded on weekends (day or night). Great beer selection on tap (they change it up). $14 bottomless mimosas (not sure if Sundays only). Service always great. Street parking. Order at the counter, grab a seat and they will bring your food to you. Breakfast and lunch menus all day, and night. There is a lovely mix of chairs, sofas, table and bar seating. I came in yesterday with a group of co-workers on a cold, wet and chilly day in San Francisco. I'd heard great things of Flying Pig but I'd yet to try it during my lunch hour. I asked my co-worker on what he recommends since he's a regular and he suggested that you can't go wrong with any of their hot dogs. I was close to ordering one of their many specialty hot dogs but ultimately decided on going with a soup given my growing waistline, post holidays after all. For $7, I got a bowl of the Spicy Turkey Chili and for an additional $2, I added toasted bread to go along with it. The employee behind the counter was overly friendly, courteous and downright pleasant. He had many recommendations and never was pushy or tried to upsell. After taking your order, you seat yourself and there's plenty of seating either at the bar or at one of the many tables. The cafe has a full bar and I saw a sign for bottomless mimosas on Sunday's; who doesn't love that? The employee who took our order seemed stretched a little thin, as he was also delivering food to tables. Although he kept the water flowing, I didn't understand why my soup came out last especially when everyone else had more complex orders (sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, etc). No biggie because once the chili arrived, it looked great. I would of liked to of had a bit more as the portion felt a bit small but the bread more than made up for it. As far as the chili itself, it was great, it wasn't too heavy yet still had plenty of meat. It had plenty of flavor and just the right amount of melted cheese. The bread was perfectly crisp and buttered and was the perfect companion for a cold and windy day in San Francisco. It wasn't the best lunch but it was a solid choice and for a great price. Wow they cut the size of the chicken bacon wrap in half and charge $12 for it! This used to be an awesome big wrap. Feeling like I was just robbed.

Would I return here? Pssh! As if. Yeah right. I'll come back... when. pigs. FLY. Oh wait. Many reubenized foods sprinkle a lil kraut, 1000 island, and pastrami / corned beef on top and call it a day. Some don't even use all three. On a scale of Hotdog to Reuben, FP's Reuben Dog leans slightly toward the ginuwine Reuben side. Had mine with hotlink. #meatsweats Rounding up to 4 stars because they were way more cheerful than they needed to be just over a hotdog x nonalc drink.

The food arrived hot and soggy. Partner ordered the french dip and the hot sauce was tossed in the bag with everything else, heating up my wrap and salad. The au jus sauce lacked flavor and was like dipping in hot water. Cesar wrap was very 'meh'. Tons of chicken chunks but very little else. Both add on salads were a disappointment, to say the least. While they were only $1.50 the lettuce used tasted like poison and they just gloped a spoonful of dressing in the middle making it overwhelming and underwhelming simultaneously. Would give them another shot in person if the City ever opens back up again.

I ordered a cobb salad from this restaurant today with cesar dressing. The dressing tasted like rotten fish. I couldn't get over it. I threw it away.

Such a mellow vibe--very laid back. Kind of reminded me of a place in Fairfax. The people that run the place couldn't have been any nicer. I appreciated the fact that they have a good relationship with a business across the street --SFC Motors. I dropped my car off there for a STAR smog test and with my receipt, I was able to get a coffee (or a soda) there for free. I opted for a Dr. Pepper and noticed that their soup of the day was a lentil, veggie soup. Even though the soup was watered down and way too peppery and the crackers that came with it were stale, I am willing to give it another try based on the people and the vibe.

I discovered this place because I work right next door - and I feel like I won the jackpot. The only way this place could be better is if it was next to my house. The turkey, avocado with havarti(sp?) cheese is awesome. the bread works well - and the sandwich over all is pretty big, they give you plenty for your money. I had the tuna salad yesterday - I can't believe how much tuna there was, probably 5x as much as any other restaurant. how many salads do you know weigh 2 lbs? Today I had the turkey swiss, a hot sammich- just awesome. this is my new home - glad it has a bar to boot!!! And whats even more surprising is the pricing! very reasonable - especially for how much food you get. And they are as friendly as it gets. you can't go wrong with this place....I can't wait for tomorrow.
