The 17 Best Vegan Restaurants in Sydney, Australia | Eater

"At Gunjan Aylawadi’s welcoming all-day Indian diner, you have to order the sabudana vada, essentially spiced hash-brown bites that chef Dhruv Sadaphal (previously of Fred’s) keeps vegan-friendly with sweetened coconut yogurt. The broccoli wings with hot tamarind sauce and dosa potato jaffles are also vegan and boast strong followings among fans." - Lee Tran Lam

Flyover Fritterie in Redfern offers a delicious twist on Indian street food that’s definitely worth trying. We ordered the Black Daal, Corn Bhel Puri, Broccoli Wings, Vada Pav Sliders and Sabudana Vada – each dish was full of bold, authentic flavours and beautifully presented. The Vada Pav Sliders stood out the most, packed with spice and texture, it is street food elevated, yet still authentic to its roots. While the food was fantastic, the only downside was the long wait time, which took away slightly from the overall experience. That said, the quality and taste of the food made up for it. If you're a fan of Indian flavours or just keen to try something different, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu!

10/10 Dahi Puri (that’s the 4 sphere looking things). The other foods were okay, not excellent, but that’s likely because it’s not my style due to overwhelming fried oil or bland soy in the flavour. The sauces/avocado mix is also 10/10.

We came across their brand through Instagram and it looked very interesting. It’s indian fusion food with some great flavors and very warm staff. It’s pricey for the offerings. One can get a more full fledged meal for those prices with other cuisines compared to eating appetizer options at a premium price. However they bring that unique flavor , presentation and experience compared to typical other Indian restaurants .. that’s a strong plus. I was looking forward to some of their Kathi rolls and not sure if they have a new menu every few days. I don’t know if they have seperate menus with more Options for their lower floor seating area. Worth exploring for a a next time Their main food options - vada pao sliders and pao bhaji - filter coffee Both had lot of flavor and worth it for the taste and hype . It was a packed floor and buzzing. Staff was very nice and warm. They were very attentive and accommodated us quickly with our requests. Overall we were billed 61$ for 2 items + 1 beverage.

The menu is Indian fusion and delivers on flavor, with dishes and drinks that are both creative and delicious. Presentation is thoughtfully done. While the service was a touch slow at times, it’s understandable given the steady crowd the restaurant attracts. Overall atmosphere was comfortable and family friendly. The menu is vegetarian and relatively limited, which may not suit those seeking variety. If you're planning a full-fledged lunch or dinner as we did, be prepared for a steeper bill as the portions are on the smaller side. In hindsight, it seems the concept is intentionally geared more toward a casual bite and drinks rather than a hearty sit-down. The place is conveniently located close to the Redfern railway station.

Visited once and was impressed! The broccoli wings starter was a hit, and the pav bhaji was solid for the price. Vadapav chutney missed the mark for a Mumbaikar like me, but overall, the vibe and hospitality were top-notch. The menu felt a bit limited, would love to see it expand, especially given the café’s tribute to Indian street food. Definitely a place I’d return to!

Each visit to Flyover Fritterie has been a delight! It's food that makes you want to eat with presence and intention, food that warms the soul, and food that celebrates the lesser-known delights of Indian cuisine. A deeply happy moment among life's chaos. Food aside, the staff are really accommodating (be it seating those with mobility issues or those with special food requests), it's true hospitality.

Absolutely loved my experience at Flyover Fritterie – easily a 5/5 from me! From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly kind, courteous, and welcoming, making the whole visit feel warm and inviting. It’s not often you find such genuinely attentive service these days, so it really stood out. I ordered the Vada Pav Sliders, and wow – they were absolutely delicious. The pav was soft and fresh, the vadas were crisp on the outside and perfectly spiced inside. What truly took them to the next level were the chutneys – tangy, spicy, and packed with flavour. Each bite was a beautiful blend of textures and taste that instantly transported me to the street stalls of Mumbai, but with a clean, modern twist. I also tried the Thandai, and it was equally impressive. Refreshing, creamy, and full of aromatic spices – the balance of flavours was spot-on. It’s the perfect drink to accompany the bold flavours of the food and added a festive, nostalgic touch to the meal. Flyover Fritterie has nailed the concept of modern Indian street food done right – they don’t compromise on authenticity, yet everything is presented in a way that’s approachable and stylish. You can tell they really care about the quality of their food and the overall customer experience. The space itself is cosy with a nice vibe – perfect for a quick bite or a casual catch-up. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more off their menu. Highly recommend to anyone looking for flavour-packed Indian street eats with top-notch service. A gem of a place!
