FOB Sushi Bar

My husband and I have never been to a self serve sushi bar before and I have to say it was an interesting experience. We walked in a few mins after opening and took less than 10 mins to select and pay at the register. There was quite a variety to choose from and at $14.99 a pound, we thought that the quality, portion size and freshness was above average. We love the fact that we get to try multiple pieces from different rolls without having to commit to a full roll. We filled our box accordingly and thoroughly enjoyed our selection back at our hotel. Overall, we definitely recommend FOB Sushi Bar, it’s an excellent concept and an absolute must visit for sushi enthusiasts.

Where do I even begin? I have been to many sushi places in South Florida so I had high standards and low expectations. I have never been to a self serve sushi bar before. This was really cool! They were constantly making new sushi and the process was very quick. We got just over 2.5 pounds at 14.99 a pound. The sushi was absolutely fantastic! Im not adventurous when it comes to sushi but I tried about a dozen types of sushi. They were all amazing. This place is an absolute must if you’re visiting or living in Seattle! Delicious and so fresg!

All the stars are for freshness and extreme convenience. Walk/ride up, grab a plate fill it up and pay. Easy to understand and fast even if there's a line sushi creations lean to the sweet side, but always satisfy the sushi craving. Dine in is clean every time I go and I always see them swap out trays to keep sushi fresh. Good value with the current sushi prices.

5/5 selection & freshness. love, love the scallop option the most. my tray cost me $15+. at most qfc groceries in the area, I think if I were to get like a 7pc salmon it'd be like $14.99 before tax :( 5/5 service, friendly staff! 4.5/5 atmosphere. I think their Bellevue location is a lot roomier and has a greater use/understanding of space. The sit-down options here are kinda poorly lit but it's ok if you're not interested in staying long!

FOB Sushi is such a great find! The self-serve concept makes it fun and fast — you pick exactly what you want, and it’s just $14.99 per pound. It can get busy, especially at lunchtime, and there’s not much seating, but the line moves quickly. The quality easily rivals many full-service sushi restaurants at a fraction of the price. Overall, FOB Sushi is a must-try in Seattle — fresh, delicious, and great value for the money. I’ll definitely be back!

This was an interesting experience. There isn’t much seating room, but we still found a place to sit. Plenty of choices and taste was pretty good. At first I was a little sketched out, because of how it’s sitting unrefrigerated, but turned out totally fine. I actually really enjoyed the lobster roll. Price is really fair too.

OMG they are so yummy! They charge by pound(14.99$) Various options for you to choose, quality is chef kiss. It isn't fishy!!!!! Staffs are super sweet too! I’ll def come back again!

Nestled at the bottom of high rise buildings, is Fob sushi. A sister location to Fob Poke. Let your eyes guide you as you self serve sushi and nigiri. Pay $14.99 by the lb. Choose from a small tray or get a box for more items. Each sushi is labeled but it's hard to read which is which. Lots of salmon, tuna, and scallop options and some inari pockets which of course will weight the most. There's some seating against the wall on high stools but it's mostly a grab and go kind of place. Pack up your own ginger, soy sauce and wasabi packets to go. We enjoyed ours at a single 3 person table outside the restaurant. We arrived around 11:45am and waited less than 10 mins. As we sat there the long queue started to form but it moves really fast. The lunch rush is definitely around noon. Lots of people walking over for lunch from neighboring buildings. There is street parking in front of the building but definitely always full. A great place to get your sushi fix. No need to read a menu, just see it for yourself. We paid $40 to fill two small trays. That was about 20 pieces. Very filling, pieces are large and full of toppings.

i was very excited to try this place as i was in seattle for the weekend. they weigh it by pound and i love the variety. my factories were definitely the salmon and salmon belly, the pieces were so fatty and big! I paid around $11-12 for six pieces. there's not too much seating inside so may have to get it to go

Love this concept Was here for a few days fo a training and this was in the building You self serve roll and nigiri (further down the assembly line) and you are charged by weight Unfortunately no sashimi options and the fish to rice ratio isn't the best but decent quality and for the price, it's great! My favorites were the salmon, fatty tuna and scallop Yellowtail and surf clam (love both usually) were a bit underwhelming Update: it was so good I went twice! Go at noon because I went at 12:20 and the line was insanely long (luckily it moved pretty quickly)

Line moves by quickly. I thought this place had an interesting concept. Sushi by the pound seems like a decent deal! I will say they load each roll/sushi piece up with plenty of topping so the weight adds up quickly. Most of the rolls were delicious but I thought the nigiri was not that good. The fish didn't feel fresh. I highly recommend the lobster roll with the tempura shrimp in it Other drawbacks, because everyone is moving in a line, you have to be quite decisive with your sushi pieces. I didn't like that I had a few seconds to scan through what each sushi piece was. It felt a little pressuring in the way the lined up the queue. Also, limited seating indoors and outdoors. I enjoyed the concept and the Maki rolls. I'd come back next time I'm in town.

A small shop where you choose what sushi to place in your chosen size box. You are charged by weight! ($14.99 per lb at the time of this review). Friendly staff who more so just restock sushi options and work the pay counter. There's only booth seating rather than tables, so it may not be the best for group hangouts but rather 1-on-1 meetups! 5/5 - Small size takeout box - About 10 pieces of sushi were 1-1.5 lbs. Highly recommend their seared inari options and the salmon nigiri (both seared and regular)!

I absolutely love this place! The concept is rather interesting and different from other sushi places. You go in and get a box or container and grab whatever sushi you want with some tongs, then pay by the pound. The sushi is fresh despite being on display here because the restaurant is so busy things are constantly being replaced by fresh rolls. There's enough variety for pretty much anyone that enjoys sushi. I went wild and got a 3lb box on my first time because I was too mesmerized by the experience!

I honestly was skeptical but having been I find this idea genius! I wish there is one in my area! I liked that a lot of them had their own flavor profile. The fact that you can get a little of everything is great! Well priced and nice arrangement and spread. I want something like this closer to me! It was done so well I'm very happy with everything I got.

I've heard such good things about FOB sushi and then some not-so-great things about it (cough cough, a particular Tiktok that was also on the news). Because of the not-so-great stuff, I refrained from stopping in for a long, long time. Until recently. FOB is so popular in Seattle that I don't think my honest opinion will hurt it in the slightest: It's aggressively "okay." THE GOOD: For the price, awesome. We got 2 trays of sushi for only $28. Great variety from scallop to inari to different types of nigiri. It's not very often you find cheap sushi with this amount of variety. The best that I've tried is the albacore nigiri. THE BAD: All of the fish is... lacking flavor? None of it is that fresh. The rice is a tad mushy and lacking the slight tanginess that sushi rice traditionally has. Soy sauce and wasabi comes in packets. The chairs inside are all stained and the tables (which are few) are often dirty. It's meant to be a "take away" type of experience for sure. If you're looking to get some bang for your buck and unpretentious sushi, this is your spot. It's great for that. But I don't find it to be much different from grocery store sushi.

This place is SO GOOD and the concept is just genius. I come here at least once a week for lunch. I eventually had to cap myself to once a week and no more than one lb per visit, hehe. I gladly will come into the office with the return to office policy. It's also one of the cheapest lunch options around and very no-fuss convenient. There is not a lot of seatings available here like the one in Bellevue. During busy times the line still moves quickly and plus any wait is worth it.

Came here interested in the BYO Sushi Box and it did not disappoint! Loved the variety of sushis to choose from and tasted fresh. There is an array of sushis to choose from and a worker kindly boxes them for you. The store was clean and brightly lit. Super cute!

Came back to FOB Sushi and I can confidently say it was even better than when I first went back in August. Nothing tasted dry or old -- everything was well-seasoned and satisfying. Definitely better than your typical quick-grab sushi. Ambience-wise, it's pretty lowkey and no-frills. It's not a sit-down date night vibe -- more of a casual, quick lunch or grab-and-go type of spot. But it's clean, organized, and the display is visually appealing (you'll definitely end up grabbing more than you planned). Service is straightforward and efficient. Staff keeps the line moving and restocks consistently. It can get busy, but it never felt chaotic. Best part? It's very affordable for Seattle. You can load up a tray with solid quality sushi and not feel like you just paid omakase prices. For the value alone, it's hard to beat. If you're looking for fancy sushi, this isn't it. But if you want good quality, customizable, affordable sushi in downtown Seattle -- FOB hits.

I'm a fan of FOB Poke and was excited to try FOB Sushi Bar for the first time. It's a small shop with limited seating and is definitely geared for takeout. The concept is simple: grab a container, pick your sushi, then pay at the counter based on the weight of your sushi selections. Because I like to consider all of my options before making decisions, I had to go back through the line several times to see what was available and read through the descriptions. Their prices are inexpensive. I ended up paying $13 which is very reasonable for lunch. It's also nice to try an assortment of sushi without having to commit to a whole roll. Overall, the sushi wasn't bad but I wasn't impressed, either. Some of the sushi was very fishy tasting which makes me question the freshness/quality of the fish. If it wasn't fishy, it lacked flavor. The rice had a strong vinegar flavor and doesn't have the cushiony/fluffy texture that you would expect from sushi rice. It was on the drier side which makes me wonder if it had been sitting in the fridge for some time after it was prepared. While I'm glad to try it, I wouldn't come back or recommend this place. I think it's a fine choice if you want a variety of cheap sushi with better selection than what you can find at a grocery store. However, I would rather pay more for better sushi.

I love coming here to satisfy my sushi craving. Great value with great quality. I love the efficiency and convenience of this concept. I'm able to try different rolls and nigiris without having to buy a full roll compared to a traditional setting. Everything is self-served, including water. Bar with all the sauces, ginger, wasabi. Ambiance is quiet, quick-eating, type of spot. No tables, just bar seating. My favorite is always the inari and the seared salmon nigiri.

Came for the 20% off promotion and there was definitely a long line, but it moved quickly. This is the second time I've been here, and I was still overwhelmed by how many options there were, from nigiri to inari to aburi sushi. The sushi itself tasted fresh and was pretty tasty, although it does all start to taste the same after you've had enough pieces. Each lb is $14.99, which is great for the variety and quality! The space itself is small with limited seating, and there's a big condiment / utensil station if you want ginger, wasabi, soy sauce. In my opinion, everyone has to try FOB at least once if they're in Seattle :)

Tiktok brought me here and wow the sushi was fire. You pay by the pound (14.99/lb). There was also a 20% off promotion going on when I went on Jan 1st. Pretty much everything was amazing and fresh except for the nigiri- the taste was good but the rice felt harder, like it was refrigerated? There was a short line when I arrived and I like that you get to choose the box size and as many pieces of a roll. I really like the aspect of being able to sample rolls because at sushi restaurants, if you order 1 roll that's it for the flavors. Try any of the rolls and you likely won't be disappointed. I really liked a role with temaki in it and the inari with salmon. There's not much seating in this location btw. I miss the sushi....

I think I would unashamedly come here every day if I lived in Seattle. What an incredibly convenient, customizable, and affordable way to consume sushi. I know the lines here can get pretty long, especially when they have deals going on, so keep that in mind. Upon entering, you choose a tray/box size depending on your appetite/wants. As you move along the line, you'll gain access to a pretty wide variety of nigiris and rolls. It's all up to you what you decide to place in your tray/box. You pay by the pound when you reach the cash register at the end of the line. There's also a counter where you can get soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, and water. I'd say the fish quality was pretty good and fresh. I know there was a whole fiasco/cancellation regarding this place a while back, but I can confirm that I did not get sick or anything the next day (and I am prone to food poisoning). Seating is pretty limited since this spot is pretty tight, so I wouldn't recommend this place if you wish to sit with a large group of people. Maybe take it to go and eat somewhere else.

The concept of pick your sushi is very good for me. I like that idea that sushi by pound concept. You can pick the sushi you like. Overall I got 14 pieces in the box for my lunch. The choice of sushi included roll, square rice pack, stuff rice with tofu skin, nigiri and more. Some of the salmon is torches with flame. Some sweet and the fish include but not limited to salmon, tuna, amberjack, squid, shrimp and more. The box is well designed and so does the Togo bag. Overall I enjoy my sushi here.

I came back here a second time (technically fourth or fifth time overall) on a Friday night around 5:20pm to long lines because of their 20% off deal per pound that's going on till the 15th this month. Same deal as usual with the vast variations of sushi stored at the front, seats that are to be bussed on your own, the loud and bustling sounds of people going in and out of the seats, and great-quality sushi that's raved by me and a lot of my friends! I still went overboard here like in my visit to the Bellevue location, albeit not as much since I got a smaller box. Regardless, I still couldn't finish everything that I got, though for only about $30 after tax and the deal, this place is very much worth it when looking at prices and sushi quality. There's something for everyone, be it cooked or raw sushi, and as mentioned before you can even grab your own condiments like soy sauce and ginger. From my previous review, I did not get too much nigiri as those can be really filling compared to their other sushi offerings. I'm still coming back another time!

I've seen a lot of hype around FOB sushi but I never got around to trying it until they were running a 20% off between Jan 1st-Jan 15th! The quality and the variety of sushi they have is fantastic! I love that it's self serve and you can try so many different rolls and nigiri. Whether you want to fill up your tray with one type or get one of each, it's a great place for any sushi lover. The pieces are also huge!!

Was not a fan of the nigiri's as the fish was tough and not tender. But, my whole group loved all of their gunkan maki options. Overall with price in consideration, it's definitely worth coming back for a quick sushi option that's better than grocery store sushi!

I've been here multiple times, before and after the whole Keith Lee fiasco, and I have thought that the fish is fresh every time. Today I went towards the end of the day and it was still fresh! It's also clean as each person gets their own tongs and tray, but the tongs do touch different sushi when you are grabbing them so if you're worried about cross contamination this may not be the best spot for you. I like the variety of sushi offered and you can just get a piece vs having to get a whole roll compared to a traditional restaurant. There's a variety of rolls, nigiri, and inari. My favorite are the inari with sashimi on top. In my opinion, I think the sushi here is pretty saucy, so if you only like traditional nigiri, this may not be the best spot for you. There's also eel sauce and spicy mayo to grab for dipping as well! Great place for a grab and go meal. I do wish there was a bigger seating area to eat with friends right after grabbing the sushi.

Love the concept of this! I hate having to commit to 8-10 pieces of the same roll (plus I can't even finish that many in one sitting), so I love that this is pick and choose and pay by weight! It was super clean inside, and had lots of options of sushi and nigiri and inari. The fish is fresh and they have extra condiments on the side like spicy mayo and eel sauce. There's limited seating to sit and enjoy, but also really good for takeout. They staff keeps the food well stocked so I didn't see any options missing.

A buffet styled sushi bar! I would say that FOB is definitely affordable at $14.99 per pound! However, I think it's a place I go sometimes, not a go-to. Sometimes the lines are long and sometimes they are short! Definitely worth it when the line isn't too long. The seating inside is limited and everything is self serve. So it is very convenient if you're looking to quick stop and eat sushi!

Pretty solid place. It's clean, and the staff are friendly. The only headache is the parking. Since it's inside a business building, you have to hunt for parking on the street, and it took us about 10-15 minutes of driving around to find a free spot. This was on a weekend, and street parking was free. I like the setup where you grab what you want, put it in a box, weigh it, and pay by the pound. It's convenient, and they don't charge based on the type of sushi. Some places do, especially for the specialty rolls, and that gets pricey fast. Here, it's simple and works well for people who just want to grab food and go. 9/10

Love love love fob tastes pretty fresh and honestly isn't too bad pricing for the quality. It's calm usually and the workers are always nice. They have limited seating inside and around two tables outside. But when the weather's nicer I've eaten on the steps outside before

A coworker and I stopped in for a quick lunch and decided to try their sushi-by-the-pound option. For the amount you get, the pricing is pretty decent and works well for a lunch crowd. Our sushi came out quickly, even as the place started to fill up, and there was a good variety to choose from. Quality-wise, it's about middle-grade -- fair for what you pay. The seaweed was a bit on the chewy side, but overall the flavors were fine. Seating is mostly countertop with high chairs, but many of them looked pretty worn and stained. If you're looking for a fast, grab-and-go lunch, this spot does the job. Just don't expect anything fancy -- takeout is probably the better option here.

There aren't many places I would say I could literally eat every day but this is one of them. I think I just died and went to SUSHI HEAVEN here. Fresh, surprisingly great quality sushi that is pay by the pound. The boxes and packaging are luxurious black and gold. The staff are very efficient at replenishing the astonishing variety of sushi/nigiri. And the way the line is organized is extremely seamless - grab a box of your choice, grab tongs, grab sushi, weigh, get chopsticks & dressings. There's a decent amount of seating inside and a table outside as well. I got sushi that filled me up for just $15. Omg, JUST GO

Short wait time + sushi takeout buffet style. Super good and fresh with affordable prices. Look at the colors! Highly recommend giving this place a try as it lives up to its hype.

I am surprised I've never left a review for FOB. My husband and I come here often, sometimes multiple times a week! The fish is extremely tasty for the price. We feel that it is fairly fresh and tastes great, but we also love that we aren't spending so much money on sushi as we would at a typical restaurant. The staff are all very kind and you can tell they care deeply about the restaurant. We love that we're able to support a family-owned establishment and will continue to come back.

Pretty good quality fish and definitely worth the price, especially considering it's the only sushi place I've been to where you can choose exactly how many pieces you want of nigiri, rolls, or whatever you like. I wasn't super hungry so I got the smallest size tray and filled most of it up and it was a good amount. If I was hungry, I probably would have filled the tray as much as possible and it would have been enough. There's some seating indoors and a couple tables outside. They also have water cups and the typical side items available (ginger, wasabi, soy sauce, spicy mayo)

My brother and I went here for lunch. We both got the small cardboard box opposed to the small plastic tray. The sushi seems to be alittle rice heavy. So I was pretty selective in the rolls and nigiri pieces I chose. I think once you've been here once, you can just go right ahead and pick what you liked. Since it was our first time, we were trying a lot. The ones I chose, I liked... I liked the self-serve station for water, wasabi and soy sauce as well. We were able to secure a spot at the window to eat but I could see where it could get busy during the lunch rush. I would definitely come back to FOB... It was kind of strange because we heard yelling and shouting in the back of the restaurant.

Oo this place is such good value imo. $15.99 a lb for nigiri + sushi. Sushi was pretty fresh to me and it passed the smell test for each cut of fish I ate. I even brought one box to the airport with me 2 hours after buying and it still tasted pretty fresh. Rice is mid but it's to be expected at this kinda place. I'm coming here any time I go to Seattle.

FOB Sushi is such a VIBE The whole concept is genius--you grab your own set of tongs (love that it's more sanitary ) and walk down this beautiful line of sushi rolls, picking whatever catches your eye. And trust me... nothing here is basic. No boring spicy tuna or Cali rolls in sight ‍ Instead, every single roll is dressed up with fun toppings, sauces, and flavors that make you want to try them ALL. The best part? You pay by the pound which honestly is such a fair deal considering how packed my sushi box was. I wish I remembered all the rolls I tried ‍ but the recipes were so intricate and unique that it was impossible to keep track. Just know... every bite was delicious. I also love the little details: fresh ginger + wasabi packs, plus eel sauce and soy sauce you can grab at your discretion . It makes the whole experience feel customized and fun. FOB is a must-visit if you love sushi with a twist. Can we PLEASE get this concept in DC already?!

Such a cute spot for a quick, casual bite! You pay by weight, and I stuffed my box for around $25 which is totally worth it for how much food you get . Is this fancy, top-tier sushi? Absolutely not, but it's super yummy and such a great bang for your buck. I really like the inari here because the rice -to-fish ratio is good. Totally recommend!

Nice place to get a quick bite of sushi. There's different sized plate options for however much you think you'll get. The better fish cuts are at the end of the counter. They have sauces and utensils on a different counter. Very little seating inside, definitely a grab-n-go style place.

I love fob. When they were doing poke and now when they are doing sushi. They know how to do it right. This is my first time at the Seattle location and it's just as good as the Bellevue location. The fish are fresh and flavorful and melts in your mouth. Love all the different combos they have as well. Will definitely be back

This place is so good! It's pretty overwhelming for newbies when they first enter the place. There's just too many sushi selections to look at! $15 a lb just too good of a deal to pass off. I will be a repeat customer. The place is pretty much a to go spot but couple of one person seats. The ladies working here are all so nice!

Fantastic concept at FOB Sushi Bar! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the most amazing display of fresh sushi. You get to choose from so many fresh and delicious options. You would think the quality would slip with so many different options at your choosing, but every bite was exceptional! The pricing is by the pound, and it is so affordable. You are able to get the quality of fancy sushi restaurants at only a fraction of the price. You really can't miss this spot!

I was definitely worried about them after the worm incident... But wow they have bounced back better than ever. The absolute strongest comeback! If anything I actually think their nigiri has become even higher quality and comes close to comparing to the sushi I've had at popular sushi spots in Tokyo like Kaisen. I wish they made it more clear what days they have what, but when I occasionally managed to visit there when they're serving Salmon Belly? 10000/10. Holy $hh, this place is amazing. Super fresh and delicious sushi and sashimi for a great price. I'm generally neutral towards sushi, but this place is an exception. I'm gonna try visiting this place often. Though I usually have my dog with me, so not sure how I'll be able to quickly fill up my box if they don't allow my doggo into the store for a few minutes

fish was pretty fresh, and there was a lot of variety of rolls. only thing i would say is that the seating is kinda... (didn't really fit the vibe) and the lights are really bright and hospital like. employees don't really talk to you, and it feels dystopian almost. location is also kinda strange (i think it's located within a corporate building?)

Heard about this place from some friends and the hype didn't disappoint. I came here on a Saturday evening around 7pm. The place was packed and l had to wait about 15 mins in line. The inside is small and compact, with single seats around the window (no tables or booths). The outside front stairs were also scattered with people. There are so many varieties of sushi and rolls. They are nicely labeled with their ingredients so you know what you are getting. The rolls are fresh and they are constantly re-filling and rotating the rolls. In the back, my favorite section is the condiment section filled with wasabi, ginger and different condiments. I love how you can get single pieces here for a variety. Everything is weighed by the pound of $14.99. I thought the prices were fair. I felt just slightly rushed as I'm going through the line like cafeteria style and you really can't go back (as the line is moving in one direction). I do like the concept and would definitely come back. Also love the message in the to go box.

Very popular and a long line but it goes by pretty fast. I love the food and the price as of March 2026 was super reasonable.
