Everything TikTok Restaurant Reviewer Keith Lee Ate in Seattle - Eater Seattle

"TikTok food critic Keith Lee, who taste tests dishes from family-run restaurants around the country while sitting in his car, stunned his nearly 17 million followers in the last week with a video from Seattle that his followers alleged included him unknowingly eating a piece of sushi with a 'worm' in it from Fob Sushi Bar in Seattle." - Courtney E. Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The team from Fob Poke Bar has a new venture that still involves lots of raw fish. Fob Sushi Bar is a weekday counter spot in Belltown that features a self-serve buffet of sushi and sashimi sold by the pound, like sliced bluefin tuna or chili crisp salmon nigiri." - Kayla Sager Riley

Discovered this gem on a recent trip to Seattle. During our 6 day trip we actually went 3 times. The cost was $15 per pound regardless of what you put on your tray. All of the rolls we tried were delicious and the octopus salad was also nice. Not much in the way of seating so during lunch it may be tough to eat there. I just wish they had one in Chicago.

Google
Quality taste service price ease and experience are superior. Get just the right amount of sushi for how hungry you are. Line can pickup during lunch and dinner rush but it moves quick. Sushi is always fresh and at the proper serving temp. I’m always amazed at the low price point for how heavy my tray is!!

Alex Nguyen

Google
Good place to get a quick sushi. After trying it after the year of hype, I unfortunately would say it’s overrated. The rice didn’t taste as fresh, most of the sushi’s tasted the same from what I got. The price is good I suppose but if you want fresh tasting sushi, you might want to go somewhere else. This place is definitely better than your grocery store sushi however.

Google
I absolutely loved my experience at FOB Sushi Bar! The sushi by the pound was fresh, flavorful, and offered such a great variety—it was hard to choose because everything looked so good. I appreciated the quality of the fish and how well everything was prepared. It’s a perfect spot if you’re craving sushi and want to customize your own plate. Definitely a go-to for sushi lovers!

Google
How this place has 4.7 star average is bananas. I would compare the sushi here to what you buy at the grocery store. It sits out, it's not fresh. The top of the sushi was hard in many areas. Is it the worst sushi in the world? No. Is it absolute bottom tier for a city on the ocean 1000% I've had sushi from all over the world, being stationed in Okinawa, to San Diego, Spain, Seattle etc. This isn't great, or even good sushi. You likely won't get sick, but spend your money elsewhere. The restaurant is tineu, very little seating, slow process if there is a line as people pick and choose and take a while as they shop. The Wasabi is in a packet and was wet and not very tasty. Just a janky place.

Google
Loved visiting FOB Sushi! They have a great variety of sushi to choose from. It’s all fresh. FOB also is hygienic, they give each guest their own tongs to grab sushi vs sharing utensils amongst others. I also appreciate that they gave out free water for their guests. One thing they should consider improving are the chairs. Currently the chairs are fabric and they hold stains and dirt. Changing to a wooden/metal chair would allow the restaurant to avoid that issue.

Google
Seriously delicious sushi at a great price. I love the concept of filling a box with a variety of sushi, much like filling a box with doughnuts! The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and there was a great variety of rolls to choose from! I definitely will be looking forward to going back.

Google
Price against quality against ease of getting in and out, this is my favorite place in Seattle. The sushi is of good quality and at $15 a pound its a great price. Pick exactly what you want and fill up your tray. Reminds me of Thailand style places and very friendly and helpful staff. Have to stop here if you are in town.

Yelp
Oh my goddddd yes. I love this concept but I also love this quality, variety, and pricing. Specialty rolls but you don't need to commit to a whole roll. This is how it should be. The items were well stocked, love the complimentary sauces and ginger they have readily available. Service was nothing out of the ordinary. I'd come back again definitely. Love that they also have outdoor and indoor seating.

Yelp
This place is so good! It's pretty overwhelming for newbies when they first enter the place. There's just too many sushi selections to look at! $15 a lb just too good of a deal to pass off. I will be a repeat customer. The place is pretty much a to go spot but couple of one person seats. The ladies working here are all so nice!

Yelp
yeah..unfortunately not impressed. I like the idea. I was definitely excited to try it, but I agree with many of the criticisms (which all make sense logically) - larger rice portions (add to the weight of the box), rice did not taste fresh, fish wasn't the worst but not the best either. I mean all these criticisms are logical. You can't have an open sushi bar like this and expect fresh fish and rice, can't expect the rice to be heavier than the fish, etc. It's all part of the experience. I don't regret trying it, it was fun to pick out different pieces and it's a cute photo moment, but probably won't be back. Space was on the smaller side, but there is some seating inside and outdoor tables+chairs. Service was quick, they were rapidly replacing the options that were running low and the manager/owner was happy and quick to explain the concept of the store to everyone who walked in. Parking - street parking or a pay-to-park lot about a block away.
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
It was my first time here and I thought the sushi was so good! It's like a buffet of sushi. We get to choose as many or as little sushi as we want. The line gets long but it goes by really quickly. There's some seating inside to accommodate small groups but you can also eat outside where there's steps. It's a really nice place for quick food and a good atmosphere.
google avatar

Kat Z.

Yelp
This is such a fun concept! I'd 14.99/pound and despite getting ~12 pieces, my meal was still under $20. I'm a huge fan of the variety of options and getting to mix and match. The sushi seems to be refilled frequently and the quality was good. Each piece had a bunch of ingredients on there and there were a wide variety of sushi's, nigiris, and inaris. This is a self serve establishment, except for check out. It's straight forward and a fun concept!
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
I have seen this place go viral (for good and bad reasons) but wanted to check it out myself. They had a wide variety of different sushi all elevated with some sort of sauce and/or topping. I got a couple pieces to try and thought the quality and taste was great for a fast casual take out spot. While it's not the best quality and definitely rice heavy, it's great for what it is and has lots of options. If I worked in the area, I could see this as go-to lunch spot!

Yelp
Heard about this place from some friends and the hype didn't disappoint. I came here on a Saturday evening around 7pm. The place was packed and l had to wait about 15 mins in line. The inside is small and compact, with single seats around the window (no tables or booths). The outside front stairs were also scattered with people. There are so many varieties of sushi and rolls. They are nicely labeled with their ingredients so you know what you are getting. The rolls are fresh and they are constantly re-filling and rotating the rolls. In the back, my favorite section is the condiment section filled with wasabi, ginger and different condiments. I love how you can get single pieces here for a variety. Everything is weighed by the pound of $14.99. I thought the prices were fair. I felt just slightly rushed as I'm going through the line like cafeteria style and you really can't go back (as the line is moving in one direction). I do like the concept and would definitely come back. Also love the message in the to go box.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is tucked away inside of a high-tech office building in the commercial / downtown district of Bellevue. I loved how much toppings they offer. For example I never had tamagoyaki at a poke place. The grab-n-go sushi was also decent, not bad for the price. Only downside is the parking: garage parking is available but it is $8/hr. If you're coming to this location to eat, I recommend parking at the nearby Safeway for free and walk over.
google avatar

Mel L.

Yelp
Didn't think we'd be so close to the viral FOB Sushi Bar! It was a dilemma for us because of the paranoia surrounding the viral video. But, we were craving for sushi so we decided to go for it. It did not disappoint. $40 for this big box of variety was worth it. We had some left over too. Maybe next time we'd go for the smaller box.
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool concept! We came here on our way to the airport. Not far from the public bus route. The place is not huge. The line was out the door, but it moved quickly. Right when you walk in. You grab a box. They had different sizes depending on how much sushi you plan on getting. Then you just go down the line and pick what you want. It's nice in that you can get as much or as little as you want of each type of sushi. They also don't make too much at once, so you won't be getting sushi that has been sitting for a while. At the end, they weigh th sushi you got, and charge by weight. You might think, "oh, then it would suck that a cucumber roll cost the same as a salmon roll". I didn't see any simple rolls there. Every roll seems to have ingredients that would make it worth the price. After paying, you just grab soy sauce and wasabi packets on your own and chopsticks. Easy peasy. We didn't get a chance to eat our sushi until we were on the plane. Let's just say my kids and I loved it, and wished we had gotten more. It was a quick, fun and yummy experience. I'll definitely be back next time I go to Seattle. This place is a must try.

Yelp
Went here for a quick bite in the area. Love the idea of a pay by the point sushi spot with variety of sushi, would love one in cap hill area. All the sushi was really good and all the service was really good. Only thoughts were rhat it usually gets really busy and crowded here and I think the placement of the fridges and boxes and sushi is a bit cramped. I also kinda wish there was an easier way to see what sushi options are out because with the amount of people there it's hard to see what's down the line to see what to get. Not very much seating but I think it's more of a grab and go place but would love another spot that offers this.
google avatar

Da-Eun L.

Yelp
Affordable sushi buffet with creative flavor combos! A lot of the sushi did seem a bit mayo-heavy and don't expect omakase-level fish quality. I was impressed with the selection though and my huge box only came out to be $19!
google avatar

Yixin L.

Yelp
The sushi is always so fresh and delicious. There is a wide variety to pick from and you pay by pound. The price for the quality is outstanding. Went back twice, and it never disappoints. Definitely a go-to spot for sushi!
google avatar

Linda C.

Yelp
Came here from Chicago and I had high expectations for this sushi spot since the fish would probably be fresher in Seattle. I love the concept of the sushi spot with such wide variety of options. The employee was great and thoughtful to their customers which I appreciated. I'm a tuna gal and I absolutely did love the spicy tuna with the rice and jalapeño. The other rolls were okay. In my personal opinion, it was too much rice for me. Overall, good spot to come to grab sushi. Pricing is not too bad.
google avatar

Joanne W.

Yelp
So many selections of sushi! And it's not just the typical basic types of sushi either. There are so many options and all look so good. You pay by weight and the worth is pretty good for what you get. I definitely get full off of one tray of large. It's self service but the staff are all pretty nice. Minimal interaction with the people. It's pretty clean on the inside with some seating.
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Good place to get a quick sushi. After trying it after the year of hype, I unfortunately would say it's overrated. The rice didn't taste as fresh, most of the sushi's tasted the same from what I got. The price is good I suppose but if you want fresh tasting sushi, you might want to go somewhere else. This place is definitely better than your grocery store sushi however.
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
For being quick, cheap and self serve, this place is great! It's not as fresh as I'd want my sushi to be, but it's still pretty good. I got this for my birthday and I'd say it did suffice my sushi fix.
google avatar

Naliyah L.

Yelp
I still love coming here! There's many assortments of rolls and nigiris. They've kept some of the rolls the same, but I like how they occasionally switch them out with new ones! My favorite so far would be the shrimp roll with fish roe on top. You're not so much interacting with the servers, but they'll answer any questions you may have. It's a grab and go type of thing, so it can be a bit fast in line
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Love the concept of this place; getting the sushi that you want and paying by weight. Got a bunch of high quality sushi for a little under $15. I would say the only "miss" was one of the normal salmon nigiri (seared was good).
google avatar

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
I paid 15$ for a full plate of sushi including lobster rolls with crab topped with uni and a generous amount of fresh salmon. Affordable sushi is one thing but affordable and tasty? The salmon cuts are fresh and fatty for a rich sweet fatty flavor. Each roll is seasoned with a light touch of sauces just to provide an extra flavor without taking away from the natural seafood umami. Absolutely delicious and without the guilt of paying for overpriced sushi.
google avatar

Tony H.

Yelp
A cool concept it's pretty much grab and go sushi with a good variety and nigiri to choose from. I got here about 30 minutes before they closed and they still had a good amount of freshly made sushi to pick. The set price at $14.99 per pound is a good value too. It's a cool option for fast dine in or to go sushi.
google avatar

Chloe L.

Yelp
WOW amazing value for the quality! Came here after hearing such great things, would say it lived up to the rumors. Buffet style self serve bar and you pay by the weight of your plate. Everything I tried was so fresh and good. A bit rice heavy for my style but still great value. Definitely save your plate for the pieces near the end of the row since the first few are mostly rolls, and the nigiri is more towards the end. Coming back soon
google avatar

Christy N.

Yelp
It's such a shame they went through so much controversy because this place is bomb. The location is in DT Seattle. There is usually a line, but you're not waiting for that long. Upon going in, you got multiple boxes to choose from. Then the hardest part, which sushi pieces to pick. I always get so excited so I just pick one of each to try. The flavor is better than some of the sit-down sushi restaurants I've been too. They have eel sauce and spicy mayo at the end. Spicy mayo is like crack lol. I'm addicted. You can eat inside, but it's small. I always take mine to go. This place is such a gem and I would hate for people to judge it because of social media. It's really good and I don't think there's any place that does it like FOB sushi. I would 100% recommend.
google avatar

Roni S.

Yelp
Hands down, amazing sushi! The sushi is stuffeddd. I love how fresh it tastes and the rice is cooked perfectly! The staffs were attentive and welcoming. I love the decor and the art on the walls. You could pick from a small, medium plate , or a box! We ended up getting the box and picked from the variety of sushi that they had. My box was $24 with a drink which is a steal! Definitely coming back whenever I'm in town :)
google avatar

Mai See Y.

Yelp
I love this sushi spot! There is so much variety in what you can get and it's relatively affordable and tasty. I think it's a great value for its price. Lines can get long on weekends but it moves pretty fast. I've gotten it twice now--once I got the huge sushi box (~$50) and the most recent time I got the small tray (~$20). They have ginger, soy sauce, wasabi, spicy mayo and unagi sauce as well which I appreciated. Service is great and they're constantly refilling the types of sushi. I will say it's a bit cramped when getting the sushi. There's a small seating area but most people grab and go. Highly recommend and would go time and time again.
google avatar

Hucky K.

Yelp
Pros: food is tasty, impressive options for such a small establishment, obviously popular and beloved by many Cons: food is tasty but not super high quality, sushi is Americanized which is pretty common in the U.S. and not surprising, line can be very long near standard meal time, parking can be challenging
google avatar

Rodney B.

Yelp
This place is my go to for drop in great sushi- we get take out 4 to 5 times a month - Thank you
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Great quality at a great price- ya can't beat it! They do it by weight so just fill up your tray/box with whatever you want and pay after they weight it. And all their rolls are interesting too, they're not just your boring classic rolls. This whole tray was only $22! My favorite was the corn and mango Inari. Would totally come here all the time if I lived in the area
google avatar

Jane N.

Yelp
Amazing quality sushi! There is plenty of seating inside and around 6 spots outside. I went with a party of 8.
google avatar

Mandy W.

Yelp
Undoubtedly my favorite sushi place in Seattle. I love the build-you-own-plate concept and all of the options they have are always so good. It is my go to spot for sushi. Been a fan of FOB Poke and I feel like their food is always very fresh and have never had anyyy problems with it.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
It's a yes! The experience of being able to stuff a box with whatever sushi I want is worth the trip. It's a fun environment, and the sushi flavorful! Sometimes there's a line and other times you can walk right in, it really depends on your timing. Some rolls and nigiri bites are better than others, but you can really explore for a decent price - and always go back for more.
google avatar

Annie C.

Yelp
I heard a lot about this place and have wanted to try their Bellevue location but I was fortunate to come to this location since I was around the area. I went on a late afternoon and decided to grab some takeout. I really like this concept where you build your own sushi box in an assembly line. You first grab a takeout box/container and tongs, choose your own single served sushi and weighed at the end. The sign said it was $15 per pound, which imo is a good deal. When I went inside, there was a short line of customers grabbing their favorite sushi. There were large selections of fresh sushi from cooked to raw fish. Definitely a great place for those who like variety. I noticed the workers replenished the trays very quickly and kept the area clean and tidy. Overall, the sushi was delicious! It was very fresh and high quality. For the price, it was definitely worth it when shared amongst two people. One suggestion I have is to have the sushi names displayed out front instead of the back. It will make things easier for customers to read instead of blindly grab what's in front of them.
google avatar

Carol L.

Yelp
FOB sushi bar is the best thing to hit Belltown/downtown Seattle. Sushi by the pound at $15/pound is unheard of, and their variety and freshness is not to be beat. The staff are always working their hardest to make new rolls and nigiri and swapping the plates. There's always a large variety of nigiri, creative rolls, and inari sushi. It's a cafeteria line sort of setup, where you grab a container and then use the tongs to pick out whichever pieces of sushi you want. At the end, you weigh your plate and pay before going to get soy sauce, ginger, wasabi and other sides. There is a small dining area in the restaurant and a table outside, but it's generally quite busy and could be difficult to find a spot to sit. Takeout might be your best option. It's so absolutely worth it though. Every piece is so yummy and you can try such a large variety to figure out what types of sushi you like best. I literally visit FOB everytime I go downtown!!
google avatar

Alik W.

Yelp
TLDR: good but can be challenging for some palates. I came with my two kids who like sushi, but really want to stick to classic nigiri, especially fish they know. I really enjoyed the Seared chili salmon, peppered yellow tail, and rolls of four fish topped with crab stick and sauce. They did NOT, and were annoyed at not being able to find something straightforward on the bar. I wished for a beer but could have broght my own. I would still do it again, but you have to be OK with new taste combos. Don't bring your friend who only eats California rolls.
google avatar

Marie B.

Yelp
The stars and planets aligned when I pondered going here after an errand in Northgate (9/11/24). Despite all the construction, I was able to find street parking a block over and heading over to 4th & Lenora, past SIFF Downtown, towards 2101 4th Avenue. FOB Sushi Bar and Herkimer Coffee are the two retail sites at this office building. I did not know what to expect but this piqued my interest after seeing posts from local IG influencers. I was happy to be first in line 15 minutes prior to opening. Yet some guy cut in front of me and another person dashed in ahead all of us in line. One of the workers let me inside after noticing what had transpired. That guy is clueless and the other looked like an office bldg regular. Clearly another Seattle site where patience and a line is expected to get the goods. I digress. Anyways, you select a tray container with lid (2 sizes) or the party box (slightly smaller than a Krispy Kreme doughnut box) and grab clean tongs to place items. There's quite an assortment of rolls, nigiri, and inari to select from. Once you're done, place tongs in used metal bin, place container on the scale, and complete payment by weight, plus tax & tip. There is limited onsite seating, but majority like myself are getting takeout. There's chopsticks, soy sauce, picked ginger, and wasabi packets available. I had extra time on my street parking meter, so I savored 10 pieces of nigiri and 2 inari in my car. Wow, perfect temperature, flavor, and texture eaten plain! Terrific way to try different combos without commiting to an entire roll too. Nigiri and inari are very generous sized and filled, respectively. It's a good thing I don't work in downtown Seattle/Belltown anymore. Worthy destination for fresh, reasonably priced sushi!
google avatar

Dajone Z.

Yelp
We just happened to come here the day after FOB got Keith Lee approved; so the line was literally out of the door. It took an hour to get a party box of about 30 pieces, but it was so worth the wait. The fish was so fresh and the price everything we got was great as opposed to dining in for sushi. I'll definitely be back for another box and a tshirt!
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
This is a great quick-serve sushi spot!! You order sushi by the pound here, I love that this concept that allows you to try multiple pieces of different kinds of sushi vs ordering an entire roll or two. The sushi tastes high quality and fresh, and I'm glad they had a couple inari choices as well. The price felt very fair for the amount and quality! Just note that there's not a ton of seating, so this place is best for grabbing your sushi to go. I really liked the sushi here and will be back!
google avatar

Trinh P.

Yelp
Lone is long but goes by quick. Lots of roll options and they are really quick to refilled the rolls. They have 3 box size options. I wish the grabber there was longer as I can tell when customer grab their rolls their hands kinda touch the rolls around. I would recommend spacing the dishes or provide food gloves for customer to wear. Price by weight! Condiment bar has all the wasabi, eel, spicy mayo sauce, ginger etc. Our box only came out for $40!
google avatar

Celeste H.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out since we found it on Instagram for our Seattle trip! A very tiny shop with the line out the door but they had an entire table filled with nigiri, stuffed tofu skin, and rolls. The salmon is decent but some of the fish tasted fishier/not to our liking. Not bad for sushi during our trip but we'd probably choose other places to dine/visit!
google avatar

Janet N.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for high quality sushi at a fair price. Love the concept of choosing what you want and paying based on weight. I'm pretty strategic about picking nigiri when I come here, but their rolls are worth trying out too. The tofu pockets are my favorite. I love that there is a variety of items to choose from and they get refilled quickly, so it's safe to assume that you're not eating old sushi. The space is small so the long lines may be intimidating, but each time I've been here, the service was quick enough and employees were nice.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Rather than a review here's a step by step guide to success for this amazing concept that seems to be the only place in Seattle constantly busy: 1. Get on line - yes there will be one on a Tuesday but it's well worth the wait 2. Grab tray - Party box if you dare 3. Grab tongs - work out those wrist muscles in advance 4. Pile it on BABY!!! - my favorites are towards the end (yellowtail and salmon but they have lots of inari and maki too) 5. Weigh and pay - All that for $25??? ::Deletes DoorDash:: 6. Sauce and sticks - Prep is key 7. Sushi slam time :)
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed being able to choose the sushi pieces that I wanted. I don't like imitation crab and I was happy to see that there were other various raw/cooked fish options. I also loved that I could enjoy a good variety of sushi instead of a whole roll of the same thing. I went around 6/7pm and it was pretty busy with a long line but it went by pretty fast. Some sushi was taken pretty quickly, but the staff was constantly replenishing the sushi. You pay by weight of the sushi. I thought the pricing was reasonable for the amount that you get for what you pay. There's not a lot of seating unfortunately so I noticed a lot of people taking their sushi to-go
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
The concept of FOB Sushi Bar is so cool, sushi by the pound for $15/lb?! I love that you're able to pick which pieces you want because sometimes I don't want a whole roll and I'm sure most people would prefer a variety, and being able to pick which one you want is so much more fun. I really like their salmon nigiri, that was probably my favorite one I tried. The quality of the fish is pretty good, it's not the best I've ever tried but I have no complaints. There's a few chair and tables past the cashier if you're trying to dine in but this place gets packed and the lines get long, I would recommend going early or not during peak hours! I would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi.
google avatar

Richi T.

Yelp
Love this spot. Had been coming to their poke locations for a while before they opened up the sushi bar. Fresh ingredients and always a large selection. My favorite might be the inari- tofu pockets filled with seafood. (The first time I went I only got one, but made sure to get a few this time.)
google avatar

Chantel C.

Yelp
FOB sushi bar is so fresh and yummy! They offer an amazing variety of sushi flavor combinations at an amazing price point! It's self serve so you can have as many yummy bites as you choose! Limited barstool seating Is offered.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
So so good ! And such a fun concept. I love that you get to try a little of everything. Every roll I tried was great and they were huge! They were switching out the rolls a lot so you know each one is super fresh. The staff weren't great at answering questions but there were lots of signs labeling each roll
google avatar

Frances F.

Yelp
Fast, easy, variety, delicious. This was the perfect stop for a quick to-go lunch. There were 3 of us and we could each get what we wanted, 1 or 2 of this or that. And a good variety of options, different ingredients & sushi & sashimi items. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach as we ended up saving some for later. We got the just as it opened and the was already a line, and it stayed clnstant, but moves. There were a few seats at a counter, i wouldn't considerit a "sit-down" though..
google avatar

Cin-Yee S.

Yelp
Great concept that lets you try different kinds of sushi rolls. My favorites were anything with yellowtail or eel. Everything is very fresh, although probably a tad too pricey for me as a daily lunch. My assorted tray here came out to be about $24 after tax and tip.
google avatar

Nini N.

Yelp
Updating to 4 stars due to some inconsistency my last few visits. Some days are definitely better than others but some of the sushi has been tasting a little too fishy. I think the best times to go would be lunch and dinner rush when they're constantly bringing out fresh plates.
