"High chairs: Yes Breweries make for great kid-friendly destinations: There’s plenty of room to run around and make noise, and you can typically bring in whatever food you like. Besides having good beer, Focal Point in Long Island City is a solid choice for families thanks to the board games in the taproom, its close proximity to both pizza and tacos, and the abundance of cute dogs to admire. There's also an outdoor seating plaza with a large glacial rock of mysterious origin, which adults and kids alike enjoy standing on." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick
"Focal Point, the LIC brewery formerly known as ICONYC, is an excellent place to hang with a group of pretty much any size. And you’ll always find a supply of community water bowls in the taproom, because your dog wants a drink, too. There's also a ton of outdoor seating (some of which is covered and heated in the winter), including a large pedestrian plaza with lots of picnic tables. We love the crisp Super Clutch Kölsch and the citrusy Lemon Drop Pils, but if you’re lucky enough to catch the uncannily refreshing Cucumber Saison when it’s on the menu, don’t think twice. There are also solid tacos right next door at Sobremesa and pizza around the corner at Lupo Rosso." - neha talreja, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore
"We love Focal Point (the LIC brewery formerly known as ICONYC) both for its very good beer—one pitcher of Lens Flare, please—and for its very good outdoor seating options. There’s a covered and heated patio next to the taproom, which also opens onto a spacious plaza filled with plenty of picnic tables. It's out here that you'll find a large glacial rock of mysterious origin, which adults, kids, and dogs alike all enjoy standing on, for no particular reason. (Compelled by an ancient, powerful force beyond our understanding? Probably.)" - neha talreja, bryan kim, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick
"Focal Point, formerly known as ICONYC, is an excellent place to hang with a group. At least six large birthday parties could happen at this Long Island City brewery all at once without putting a damper on each other—we’re pretty sure we’ve witnessed this happen. There’s covered and heated outdoor seating next to the spacious taproom, as well as a connected pedestrian plaza full of picnic tables. In the middle of that plaza stands a large glacial rock, which adults, kids, and dogs (who are welcome at Focal Point) enjoy standing on for no particular reason. Focal Point brews a wide variety of very good beer on site, but we default most often to the so-called “crushable” section of their menu. Get into something crisp, like the malty Super Clutch Kölsch or maybe a citrusy pilsner. And once the temperature cracks 80 degrees, we'd gladly hook ourselves up to an IV drip of the cucumber saison. If you get hungry, the tacos right next door at Sobremesa are solid, and they’ll hand you a buzzer you can bring back to the taproom (where you're welcome to eat anything you like) while you wait." - Molly Fitzpatrick
"The plaza at this Long Island City brewery is filled with picnic tables, and you can bring your own food. So think of this place as a paved public park that just happens to serve IPAs and coconut pale ales that are brewed on site. During the winter, some of the outdoor seating is heated." - team infatuation
