Ring In the New Year With a One-Night-Only Drag Steakhouse in the East Village | Eater NY

"Helmed by chef Jay Jumar, this new cocktail bar opens with a 13-drink menu that includes draft Negronis; the Hanami Bloom made with Japanese vodka, cherry blossom sake, lychee, rosewater, and saline; and several options made with tea‑infused whiskey, while the kitchen focuses on Indian fusion comfort foods like biryani arancini, masala latkes, pakora‑fried chicken, and tikka pot pie. It opens on Thursday, December 11 at 689 Sixth Avenue at 20th Street in South Slope." - Nadia Chaudhury

Folk - Review - Park Slope - New York - The Infatuation

"From the people behindLore(and not to be confused with a certain Taylor Swift album), Folk is a cocktail bar in South Slope. There are three different Negronis on draft, as well a full cocktail menu, and some snacks like a pupu platter for two, biryani arancini, and deviled eggs with uni." - Will Hartman

The Founder of Folk and the Farmers Hand Is Leaving Nest Egg Hospitality in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"Opened in 2018 as a sister restaurant on the same block, Folk served all-day breakfast and coffee; I note that after the Nest Egg reorganization it received a new chef and an updated menu focused on reducing waste and sourcing seasonally." - Brenna Houck

We had 4 different cocktails and every one was delicious and inventive. We shared 2 small plates and loved the food. Jay and his staff are so kind and caring! Can't recommend this place enough.

Folk truly lives up to its name. The drinks are genuinely unique and thoughtfully crafted, and the menu feels inspired without being overworked — everything is intentional and done well. What really stands out is the service. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. There’s an ease to the experience that’s hard to find. The space itself is special. With wrap-around windows, you’re constantly connected to the neighborhood outside, giving it a very European feel — like a local spot you’d stumble into on a corner in Paris or Copenhagen. It feels rooted in the community, made for the people who live nearby, and inviting in the best way. A true neighborhood bar, done right. Congrats to Jay, Daria and the team!

Had a fantastic time at Folk over the weekend. The ambience was nice and cozy. Loved the cocktails. My wife had the Mangalorean and I had the smoked tequila old fashioned both of which were delicious. The food was out of this world. Loved the steak sandwich and the Biriyani balls. The service was 2nd to none.

Great new corner spot. This place is going to be a hit. The chef owner is from the neighborhood and owns another great neighborhood spot. His dishes are very innovative and taste great. I came through for friends and family night and had a great time. The food and vibe was great. I heard they are sold out for opening night and NYT already wrote an article Definitely get the chicken briyani arancini when you go. It was 🔥🔥 Looking forward to my next viait.

Excellent experience at Folk after the much anticipated opening! Chef Jay was amazing, the staff was incredible. Did a “give me one of each” for the small plates, not a single one disappointed. Arancini balls, fried chicken, and fish n chips are a must if you have to choose! Cocktails were delicious and innovative!

Folk is my new go to spot! Exceptional menu & drinks, paired with an elevated yet welcoming ambiance. Attention to the details, I love it!!! I'm a huge fan of their sister restaurant LORE... Folk does NOT disappoint. I devoured the Biryani Arancini, Masala Latkes w/Mushrooms & Caviar, however my favorite was the Uni Deviled Eggs. I sipped on the Mangalorean which was DELICOUS!!!

Chef Jay Kumar has done it again! after many years enjoying the food and hospitality at his restaurant “Lore” He’s opened the perfect neighborhood cocktail bar and tapas experience! And if not your neighborhood make it a destination asap! The crab risotto and steak sandwich! mouth wants it now :) Love it all thanks Jay !

We recently enjoyed an evening at Folk, a new addition to the south slope/greenwood area. The cocktails were excellent, we focused on the draft Negronis. but the rest of the menu looked good too. This lovely spot is brought to you by the same team who brought Lore to Park Slope -- and the food lived up to expectation. We had the Biryani Arancini, Crab Risotto, and Deviled eggs (with Uni!) are they were all awesome. Can't wait to go back and try the Mumbai Pot Pie, filled with Chicken Tikka. mmmmm.
