On the Grid : Fonuts

"Don't let the name fool you. These faux donuts may not be grandma's but they are not messing around. With flavors ranging from Chocolate Peanut Butter to Blueberry Earl Grey, you will never be disappointed. Some flavors are even gluten-free which is insane because they taste so decadent. Need more incentive? They serve Stumptown." - Onyx

Street Food Sensation Ponchos Tlayudas Expands to Smorgasburg Downtown - Eater LA

"West Third Street staple Fonuts is switching things up. The baked-not-fried “doughnut” shop has been around in one form or another since 2011, but now they’re going completely gluten free, reducing their overall use of sugar, and retooling their all-vegan lineup. The new launch starts tomorrow." - Farley Elliott

Google
Walking from a nearby restaurant and decided to stop in about 30 minutes before they closed on a weekday. Realized it was a gluten free donut shop, though I don’t have dietary restrictions I decided to order one blueberry donut. It was a good cake style donut! Not grainy at all like some gluten free things I have tasted tend to be.The young man at the register was extremely friendly and welcoming too. Cute shop!

Google
Wanted so much to like these baked donuts but unfortunately for me these fell short in taste, texture and price. Too bad the guy at the counter did not tell me that they were gluten free. The donuts crumbled and were difficult to eat. Did not have an enjoyable experience.

Google
Our favorite donut place! We include FONUTS in a lot of our family traditions and events. They’re delicious and healthier choice for a treat! It is sweet and always made fresh. You have to come earlier in the day, or order in advance, as they always sell out fast, before they even close. We love FONUTS and Nancy has been super awesome since we moved in the neighborhood about 10 years ago.

Mario

Google
Awesome gluten free donuts.... In a variety of flavors.... And never fried! My favorite is pancakes & syrup, strawberry shortcake and of course... Churro! Their all-natural, Fotella (Nutella alternative), is also awesome. Order your sourdough early, because they sell out early. Highly recommend.

Google
With my son having celiac disease, it’s challenging to find options for him, so fonuts is a breathe of fresh air. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a friendly atmosphere. Nancy was very helpful and even gave us some local gluten-free dining recommendations. Now, for the donuts…they were amazing! The flavours tasted natural and burst in your mouth and being baked was an added bonus. I would definitely come back here.

Google
Fantastic baked, GF donuts. This is a dedicated GF facility. Unlike other baked donuts I've had, these are actually delicious. I asked the person working there which was their favorite, and they said strawberry, so that is the one I got, and it was delicious. It was kind of like a sweet cupcake, but I liked the texture better. It was moist, but didn't hold together super well, so be careful when eating! The donuts are almond-flour based, and there are vegan options. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We found free parking in the neighborhood behind it, but there is also a parking lot right behind it, down the alley. It was empty on a Sunday afternoon. The person working there was great!

Google
Wanna donut but you’re trying to stay healthy? This delicious idea could be an occasional guilty pleasure. Yes, the sugar is there, but baked instead of fried is a small consolation. The Blueberry Earl Grey is my favorite, but there’s so many amazing flavors you can’t go wrong! Definitely worth a try, and I won’t tell.

Google
Didn't take any stars off because I haven't tried them. But at about 2pm I walked in. No one was there, limited donuts, I didn't see any vegan ones at least not labeled and no one to ask and it felt weird standing in a business with no person or music. It was just an ery silence, so I bounced. Maybe one day ill finally get to try these.

Yelp
Their fōnuts are so, so good! I wish I could eat one everyday! I've bought them for others as a birthday treat and everyone has enjoyed them so much!
google avatar

Yelp
They're not doughnuts; they're round cakes with a hole in the center. I have celiac. I have no problem with vegan food. I've eaten many a doughnut with no wheat. There are better options. This ain't it. Too sweet, too cakey, too expensive.

Yelp
tl;dr the expensive baked "fonuts" are a dry, disappointing take on LA's favorite fried dessert In Los Angeles proper, specialty donuteries are progressively displacing the classic mom-and-pop donut joints. Each such shop of the former has its own niche, and fonuts is no exception. Sporting "faux" in the name, fonuts is readily open about their desserts being gluten-free and baked rather than fried. The brand also offers a large selection of entirely plant-based options. Outside, the electric-yellow, all-lower case serif font pops against the slate grey awning and walls. Enter inside to the chic yet homey room. Accent lighting strategically lights up the wooden finishes. Houseplants and merch are organized around the retro white oven-turned-coffee station. A wooden, L-shaped bar counter occupies most of the large, mostly vacant space. The white-washed wall to the right feels out of place, decorated sparingly with square donut-themed acrylics. Straight back, the multi-tiered donut display sits behind a glass panel. Eclectic acoustic tunes echoed around the room. My partner and I visited on a weekday afternoon, and fonuts still hosted a steady trickle of regulars. Immediately, we were shocked by the minimal selection of fonuts (all of the other guests seemed equally surprised, as each questioned or commented out loud). Service was friendly, and the staff member happily directed us toward his favorite (remaining) options. We opted for the top-selling Churro fonut, as well as the "Mini" versions of the Black and White and the Pumpkin. Across each, the texture was closer to a crumbly bundt cake than a donut, and it was paradoxically buttery yet dry. The signature Churro was heavily cinnamon-forward, but reminded me of a churro only in title. Meanwhile, the single-bite mini donuts were eyebrow-raisingly small, barely larger than Hostess donettes. The Black and White was equal parts fine (i.e., the chocolate) and plain (i.e., the vanilla), and at no point did it measure up to its namesake dessert. Lastly, the Pumpkin was essentially dry pumpkin bread molded into a donut ring shape and then drizzled meagerly with vaguely cinnamony icing. My few bites of underwhelming bread cost me nearly $10. The fonuts were decidedly different from any donut I've eaten, and, for us, they were far from a hit. Above anything else, I was most disappointed by the texture of these baked "donuts". The skin lacked the moderate crisp or the inherently rich flavor that differentiates a cake donut from cake. If you do visit, be sure to go early to maximize your selection -- but, if you are itching for a real donut, then you probably will be underwhelmed regardless.

Yelp
I was impressed. Really good vegan donuts and great service. Drink prices pretty reasonable but that dozen of fonuts will be a bit more pricy. I'd go here again for sure. Maybe tomorrow. Heheh.
google avatar

Kam F.

Yelp
The texture is different which is expected. But the flavors are also widely varying. The normal doughnuts are drier. The frosted doughnuts are very sweet and gooey.
google avatar

Yelp
I fu€king LOVE their Gf donuts. This is way out of my way, parking is crap and i have to go to LA traffic..... Just for these donuts. They are very light and actually taste like a donut and not a donut shaped cake. Make sure to order a cup of milk with ice. It's a game changer. It is pricey though. Lol as all good gluten free items are.

Yelp
Walked by many times, even today, but I stopped and turned on my heels and walked in and so pleased that I did. I was met by a lovely greeting, feeling most welcomed and the excitement of her fonuts displayed, felt it in her voice and saw it in her facial expressions. Didn't think to slow down and have a cup of coffee but will do soon. Excellent selections and something for everyone. A must for everyone. Good for most diet restrictions.
google avatar

Yelp
Very expensive, $15 for 3 donuts. Very limited selection of donuts. Felt like soggy cereal, just a cake with a hole in it, also very moist. I recommend to NOT go here.
google avatar

Risa M.

Yelp
So grateful for Fonuts to be in my neighborhood and offer GF donuts with such a variety and amazing tastes! I ordered a Thanksgiving Carrot Cake that they made as special and it was a huge hit even for people who don't like gluten free products. They were surprised of how tasty and satisfying the cake was. And they were so beautiful to look at! The service is also always great. I like eating at the store as many people come in with celiac disease and make big smiles biting their donuts they can freely enjoy. Such a great store.
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Listennnnn, this place is fantastic if you're GF/wheat sensitive, etc. delicious, tasty, soft and moist donuts. Homer Simpson would be jealous. These freeze well (I was told) and also lasts a few days on the counter (tested it myself). Though, it's hard not to sit there and eat the whole thing in a sitting while binge watching tv, Lemmie tell ya. I recommend the strawberry donuts as they're my favorite, but the others are good, too
google avatar

Kayla V.

Yelp
My favorite gluten-free donuts! I will go out of my way for these. So soft, not overly greasy, flavors are fun, and they're sweet enough to feel like a treat but not just a total sugar bomb. Also enjoy their drinks. I wish prices could be a little cheaper but understand this is LA real estate and gf flour is not as cheap. Glad they're doing well enough to have recently opened a new location and hope they can just keep expanding so that I can have their donuts more often!
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Vanilla latte donut is delicious! If you like coffee/espresso you will love it! Highly suggest! Accidentally pressed on my donut so not the best presentation but it was amazing!

Dan E.

Yelp
I really can't say anything but great things about this place. It's stupid expensive, but I keep giving them my money anyway. There's no better GF vegan donuts. I'm addicted!

Dan K.

Yelp
Tiny and extremely expensive donuts. They should've either made large donuts for the price they're asking or make smaller donuts for a lower price. In addition we came early afternoon and they barely had any options. I came with a Vegan and there was only 2 options for Vegan and neither looked too tempting. There's a bunch of donut places in the area from the cheaper big chain donut brand to smaller mom and pop stores on the same street. So the idea of selling an expensive donut where the selling point is that it's expensive so if you ever bring it to a friend as a gift knowing you spent a lot on a donut - I'm not sure is the best proposition.

Tracy S.

Yelp
Completely gluten free donuts?! And they're light and fluffy and come in ALL FLAVORS?! I tried the mini fonuts so I could have every flavor. Their iced coffee is delicious also!
google avatar

Claire D.

Yelp
I brought my gluten-free friend here who was visiting from Connecticut. We ordered a mix as she was so excited to try many flavors. We had a mixed berry, lemon, banana chocolate, chocolate glazed and churro. It's a made fresh daily bakery so once they sell out that's all for the day. We bought in the early afternoon and I missed out on some flavors I wanted to try. I'm an omnivore and I love with a vegan so I'm used to alternative ingredients. I was shocked and amazed how delicious these were. They tasted light and very flavorful. In my experience some gluten-free or vegan pastries are very dense but these were fabulous. My favorite was the mixed berry. There is metered street parking or a valet behind the shop. The store is located next to a cafe. They won't have the same texture and last too many days after but I was still enjoying the leftovers for two days . I look forward to going back and trying more flavors; especially the matcha green tea one.
google avatar

Natalie G.

Yelp
I love that everything here in gluten-free, and they also have a great selection of GF/vegan donuts. I've tried every single vegan flavor and they're all delicious, but my favorite is always whatever the seasonal flavor is (it's always great)! I also love the banana chocolate, vanilla, churro, and peanut butter chocolate. I do wish they made some of the other flavors vegan -- like the blueberry eary grey.
google avatar

Ron L.

Yelp
Not many people know that the Dalai Lama likes donuts. At least I saw that on an episode of the Simpsons. In any event, this weekend I dropped by Fonuts for some gluten free delicious GF donuts. Below are the three: Blueberry Earl Grey; Apple Cider and Chocolate/Peanut Butter. Each one was tasty and distinctive. I particularly liked the blueberry Earl grey.

Victoria F.

Yelp
The donuts are so yummy but they're supposed to be healthier and found out theirs 500 cals per donut 20g of fat 51g of carbs 27g of sugar. That's insane and worse for you than a regular donut
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
These donuts are so unique!! I personally am not a fan of donuts that are so greasy and these fonuts were a great alternative. Customer service was really great! We came on a rainy day and were helped right away. The worker answered our questions and we just happened to pick the most popular flavors. The inside of the shop has clear ingredients on what they put inside their fonuts. These fonuts are 10/10. The flavors are amazing. You taste REAL ingredients, especially in the blueberry. I had so many fresh blueberries in mine. These are not your typical donuts. If you like cakey donuts these are for you. Will gladly go back and try again.
google avatar

Devon J.

Yelp
We went here twice because I have never been to a GF donut shop and haven't had a donut in forever. The first day they were amazing, the staff was nice and the donuts were just delicious. We had the chocolate and the pumpkin and the blueberry and the pancake and the strawberry flavors....all of them were great. But I'm not sure if it's because the first day we got there later in the afternoon so the donuts weren't super fresh or what but the next day that we went was in the morning and we got the dozen (for $63 mins you) and they were just super fluffy and crumbly and the vanilla flavor had no taste and the peanut butter one was super dry and the churro flavor was grainy. It just wasn't the same experience at all and at the price point it was definitely disappointing. We were just visiting the area and there are apparently a lot of GF options in LA so next time we're in town I will probably check out somewhere else.

Yelp
My cousin is gluten and dairy free so this is the perfect birthday treat spot for her! We got 10 and tried about 7 flavors. The texture of the dough it's is pretty spot on. They have the same density of a traditional donut as well. My only complaints come from the richness of the donuts. I am not gluten free or dairy free, so I'm a classic donut lover and for me these tasted more like cakes than donuts. While I appreciate and enjoyed trying their unique flavors, I think they take away from the simplicity of a donuts classic doughy flavor. These are much richer in flavor than a classic donut and therefore a bit much to eat as a breakfast treat for me personally. My favorite was the churro - that was a solid 10/10 for me and not too rich. I think this is a great spot for any gluten free and dairy free treat lovers tho!
google avatar

Lulu M.

Yelp
As someone who LOVES cake I had to try these..Baked donuts must taste like cake right??! They doNut lol get it?? Anyway I did enjoy these and although they do not taste like cake they are delish! Think of these as a moist loaf of bread with a slight crusty exterior (that's a good thing) And to top it off they're healthier than an actual donut because your cutting out the deep fryer. We tried the blueberry earl grey super yum & different in a good way. And we also had the strawberry shortcake. Very traditional and tasty. Aside from tasting so good I especially liked the chunks of Blueberries and strawberries in the donuts. I Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
Dropped by because we were curious what baked donuts taste like. We asked for their most popular flavor and got the blueberry earl gray, which was pretty dense and had a frosting-like glaze. The donut tasted more like a cake in donut shape. I think it was a little too sweet for my taste, but I appreciate that they have mini sizes so you don't have to commit to a full donut.
google avatar

Frances G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I have a gluten intolerance and was devastated to think I'd have to give up "donuts". Not only did I find a replacement, but these are so much better! Every flavor I've tried is a winner. I recently moved to the Inland Empire so I can't come as frequently, but I always stop by when I'm in LA. It's also a tradition to come here for every birthday. My nephews are 7 & 8 and this is their favorite sweet treat as well!
google avatar

Christa Y.

Yelp
Very very sweet and they didn't have the consistency of a donut. It was more of a muffin in a donut shape. I got the Strawberry Shortcake and Blueberry Earl Gray. The only good thing was the nice cashier.
google avatar

Kimberly R.

Yelp
$11 for 2 donuts is a rip off. I wouldn't complain if it actually tasted good but it was disappointing. Soon as you take a bite the whole donut falls apart and crumbles into pieces. Also only 3 different kinds of donuts to choose from.
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
Monty was so awesome! Called over the phone and he told me there was only a few of my favorite donuts left and when I got there he had them ready for me without asking. Amazing service will definitely keep coming back! Donuts tasted great even at the end of the day too
google avatar

Lauren X.

Yelp
This is a very quaint location. Came weekday morning and most already gone. That or the bakers were not catching up to morning yet. Granted there were several take out orders already piled up. We wiped a few of each category and yum is the word--soft and sweet. Black and white, lemon, raspberry, and the churros. Wow what a quick way to start a day..... bouncing off the street.... All foSomethin. It's next to coffee spot so you have a great breakfast spot set up already!
google avatar

Holly L.

Yelp
Came with my parents when they visited for Father's Day! As someone with celiac disease, this was my first donut in 10 years. Everything I could have hoped for and so much more We bought one of everything, but for a "traditional" doughnut taste I'd shoot for the vanilla.
google avatar

Chloe T.

Yelp
I love this donut place. Not only vegan and gluten free, but they taste amazing. All the flavors is exceptional. My fav one is the raspberry one. It is filled with bits of raspberry and bursted with flavors. Chocolate maple and blueberry flavors are amazing as well. My least fav is the vanilla bean and vanilla latte, but they are both good honestly.

Yelp
Time for a treat: DONUTS!!! Well...not really donuts, but "FŌNUTS!!!" If you're ever near 3rd Street & Fairfax Avenue in the bustling & trendy Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles & want to try something a little different, check out "Fōnuts." Just know that "Fōnuts" aren't traditional donuts. Instead, they're more like baked (not fried) muffins/cakes in the shape of donuts. "Faux" + "Donuts" = "Fōnuts!" Ha!!! Get it? ;) If you're able to quickly find an open metered parking spot on busy 3rd Street, consider it your lucky day. Once inside the quaint, well-decorated, clean shop, you'll be greeted by masked/gloved friendly & helpful staff, cool merchandise (e.g., clothing, syrups & spreads, hilarious stationery, etc.), & an amazing antique stove repurposed to creatively house condiments, cutlery, & more. Very cool. "Fōnuts" offers a variety of cake-type donuts ($4.50/each for regular & $1.75/each for mini-sized). Some are vegan, & all are gluten-free. Yes...gluten-free. I'd never tried a gluten-free donut before, & I honestly expected it to taste like straight-up cardboard. But you know what? They were actually pretty good! There are way too many flavours to mention here, so here's the low-down on what we purchased (in order of deliciousness - ranked least to best): * Black-&-White - Supposedly just as good as the cookie that NY made famous....but it's not. I don't know if it was just me, but this fōnut seemed to have a weird chemical taste & smell. It was just...strange... Not something I'd order again. * Olive Oil Wild Blueberry - Dairy-free & gluten-free with fresh blueberry compote. Even though it's dusted in powdered sugar, surprisingly it wasn't overly sweet. This was "partner-in-crime's" (aka "Donut King's") favourite. Yep, after finally retiring from "The Force," he still loves a good donut. Even a fōnut...if it's good. * Strawberry Shortcake - This gluten-free yogurt-battered fōnut has fresh strawberry chunks throughout, & is covered in strawberry puree glaze. A little on the sweeter side, but very good, & reminds me of a strawberry shake. Yummy! * Chocolate Chip - The gluten-free chocolate chip fōnut is probably my favourite. Tender & moist, not overly sweet vanilla cake with chocolate chips. Plain, simple, & delicious. If you're still on-the-fence & wondering what the texture is like of these fōnuts, just imagine a tender, moist, slightly dense baked muffin with a tiny bit of slightly crunchiness to it. I think the unique texture is from the almond grain flour, but it really is good! Just try it! The best part of our experience that made a lasting impression overall was the customer service. The lady who assisted us was very nice, helpful, & patient. We chatted for a bit, & she offered us complimentary coffee for the road as we had a long drive back to OC. We politely declined (I can't drink coffee), but she insisted & instead offered me a complimentary non-caffenated beverage to go with my fōnuts. So very kind & gracious. Even more-so than the comped beverages, your kindness & hospitality truly made a difference... The fōnuts were tasty, but you really made my day! Thanks again! :) ***COVID-19 Know-Before-You-Go*** * Face coverings/masks are required regardless of vaccination status. * Staff wear masks & gloves.

Yelp
Since I'm gluten intolerant, I had to visit this place when I was recently in LA. My experience was mixed. When we arrived, the open sign was on, the lights were on and there were donuts in the case. But the door was locked. We met a wonderful kid who is an actor, sitting there waiting for them to open the door. He called earlier and told them he would be coming at 2 pm to pick up some boxes of donuts for the set/cast/crew he was working on. But no one came to open the door. He checked the back, thinking they were on break. I called the other Fonuts store and they didn't know what was happening either. So. after about 15 minutes, I called and left a "not so nice" message and almost immediately, a young woman with a mask came and opened the door, saying there was an emergency (BS). Once in, I bought 6 donuts and they were amazing. Except too much sugar in the icing for me, so I won't be back.
google avatar

Dai P.

Yelp
Get the churro one. Again, GET THR CHURRO ONE. I could end the review right there because it was so good I couldn't even take a picture of it. Yes, it was that good. The maple flavored one was good, but not as sweet as I anticipated based on the smell. I also enjoyed the vanilla latte flavored one. The consistency of the fonut is so good, I could make the argument that it's superior to a regular donut.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. I fully recommend trying fōnuts, especially if you are dairy free / vegan. They taste incredible and feel healthier than regular donuts. The customer service was excellent.
google avatar

Tiana T.

Yelp
This place is THE BEST. I've been searching for an all GF donut spot and this place is hands down one of the best! I found this place when visiting LA, I wish they had one in the Bay Area ;(( The strawberry was SENSATIONAL, so moist and literally melted in my mouth. I expected GF donuts to not match the consistency of real cake donut - but these donuts matched that and were even better. The workers were very nice and I would definitely call in advance to make sure you can save the flavors you want.
google avatar

Kaitlin D.

Yelp
Good GF donuts and are a great option if you're in the area and are looking for a GF option. Considering there aren't a lot of GF donut options still, I would recommend here. The only thing is that the donuts are pretty pricey.
google avatar

Maria Q.

Yelp
Now these are some holy grail donuts! Dare I say it, these donuts are even better than their less healthy "competitors". For starters, they don't taste healthy, there's nothing weird going on here with the taste or texture. There's also no yucky oil taste that you sometimes get in other donuts. These are moist delicious and amazing! Just go already. I tried three flavors: strawberry shortcake, impeccable, lots of strawberry pieces give it a nice texture. It was fruity, sweet and delicious. The double chocolate was my personal favorite, not too sweet with a ton of chocolatey flavor and a delicious cake like texture. The maple one still did all the things, it was just a little too sweet for my personal taste.
google avatar

Andrea V.

Yelp
Yay for vegan donuts! These donuts are really more like muffins than a traditional fried donut (hence the name "faux" donuts). But as long as you know they are a bit different, they make for a delicious, indulgent dessert that doesn't leave you feeling like you've over indulged. For best results, get a few and share with friends so you can all taste a variety The churro donut is tasty and has the right spices, but doesn't have that crunch you'll find with other churro donuts. However, for a healthier option, I'll take this one over a fried one any day. I don't think you can go wrong with any choices here. Menu is seasonal, so check back often to see what's new!

Bianca F.

Yelp
Ugh don't bother asking the lazy employees if anything is fresh, you can clearly see a difference in (what I hope) are the fresh donuts and the dry, stale leftover donuts they have on the trays. Where's the consistency? I wasn't impressed with their strawberry shortcake donut or the "maple" ones. The glaze was soaked into the bread, turning it into a soggy mess. No way it was made that same day. Sad to say I get better quality at Dunkin
google avatar

Jimmy P.

Yelp
The blueberry earl grey is very yummy. It's not too sweet, with an exterior of slight crusty texture. The flavor can be described as moist bread that resembles a bit of textured cakes. Quite the experience and is very enjoyable for someone who doesn't like desserts that are bit on the sweeter side.
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Ate two donuts and it made me sleepy. Had to drive off the freeway and take a nap at a gas station for 30 min. My wife felt the same way and lost a lot of energy for the day. These donuts are super sweet and very crumbly. Not good at all.

Yelp
Dane Capo brought me here. He's one of those No Gluten kinda guys, he was my tour guide, even though I grew up here and I am twice his age. I mean, who could say no to a donut made with healthy options? Not this gal. When we walked in, I dug the vibe immediately. Dane himself, was on a mission. Caitlyn tried to answer his questions about donuts but seriously there were only 10 donuts in the case. Uhhh I thought it was fantastic! A five star indicator that these fōnuts have wings and literally fly off the shelf. I saw many people come and go, they were very sad at the 2 quantity limit. We got ours though. There were 3 of us, we could've wiped out most of the inventory. We settled on 2. A big one and a micro one. In one second my micro donut was gone. I contemplated asking Sarah to come to the counter and ordering 3 more with me, but let's be fair. A very sad Portland couple, one a vegan, were obviously crushed. When her boyfriend asked if he could still get one , she gave him the " not over my dead body if I can't get one too" Come on, it was like 3pm, donuts should sell out before that time of day anyway. Seeing the reactions was the best part of fonutting "in" I got mine though! You know why Fōnuts gets 5 stars? Obviously besides it's yummy options and care to the clearly sometimes complicated beverage choices, oat milk, almond, soy......I enjoyed an iced tea (not just a regular tea, some magical choice). It was even more than that. It was Caitlyn's patience with an adult with autism. She was respectful and pleasant. Even when Dane told her she should start making more fōnuts because they clearly didn't have enough. Hilarious. It says something about humanity, that Nancy chooses great people to be part of her team. That's important to me. It was the whole package. After walking out, the memories of fōnuts will linger. Imagine what it will be like when I see a full case. I'm already planning my return......doh! We won't be equal till we are all equal. Clearly Nancy and her team at Fōnuts agrees!

Yelp
I love coming to this place. They have a variety of healthy options including gluten-free and vegan selections. Everything was laid out in an organized manner and the entire place was so clean. We ended up choosing the following flavors: Banana Chocolate, Banana, Pecan Pie, Lemon, Dark Maple, and Chocolate. Each donut had its own personality; it would have been nice to try every flavor, but that'll be the beauty of subsequent visits. The employees were so friendly and were very willing to help with recommendations that included their favorites. The box they gave us the donuts in was official and so reliable that it kept these goodies fresh throughout the day. Street parking right beside the shop was super easy to find. This place is amazing!

Yelp
When you walk in you walk into a cute little shop with an old school stove with all napkins straws and condiments that you need in front of your face is a nice display of beautiful fo'nuts. The ladies that work there are very sweet and pleasant. Now let's get to the good stuff I was greedy so I ordered the seasonal Berry,a Strawberry Shortcake, and a blueberry! The 1st one I tried was the seasonal Berry OMG it was beyond moist they used real blueberries with a hint of lemon it was very fresh. I will definitely come back to try the other flavors.

Yelp
If you want to impress folks at a breakfast meeting in LA - this is where to go. These things are FANTASTIC. I first discovered fonuts at LACMA - their coffee shop had these out of this world red velvet donuts and I had to know where they were from. I was stunned to learn they were in fact, "fonuts". I'm not a vegan... I'm not a vegetarian. But I AM a fan of fonuts. Stopped by this morning on my way to a board meeting and got a dozen and a half of these beauties. Staff could NOT have been more helpful. I love that they open at 8 even on Saturday and Sunday, making it convenient to stop by for weekend meetings/events. These little gems aren't cheap (It was $31 for 1 1/2 dozen minis and a regular sized fonut for me to eat on the way to Pasadena, plus a large coffee - LAMIILL coffee BTW), but it's definitely worth it for the "wow" factor. And everyone, even in health-crazed LA, will eat these. You'll be the hit of your morning meeting if you bring these. I really *love* this place. The raspberry vanilla fonut is a thing of beauty. If they have the red velvet, you have to get one to treat yourself. Thank me later.

Yelp
very good taste. Some of the donuts has better texture than others like the banana chocolate. Doesn't make you feel sick via sugar overload or cholesterol attacked. Just wish the price wasn't so high. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
[Review #540] 2020 Yelp 100 Challenge (45/100) I had fōnuts bookmarked for awhile, but haven't ventured north in awhile. With a new colleague joining our ranks this past winter, she treated us to some delish gluten-free donuts, claiming to be one of these best in L.A. Are they? When you think about a donut, while tasty, these round treats are typically excessively sweet; even from someone who has a sweet tooth, I can only eat a couple before I tap out. With the COVID-19, there's a local donut shop that's promoting buy 1 dozen, get 2 dozen free. Ack! But not fōnuts, made with almond flour, they're surprisingly airy, moist, & flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness. My previous experiences with gluten-free anything has been somewhat hard, bland, or chemically tasting from the artificial/unnatural sugars. Since our group was small, we got to pick 2 each, I requested the BLUEBERRY EARL GREY & STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Mmm... they were soooooo good! I liked that they're not overly frosted, good icing:fōnut ratio. I wished I had some earl grey tea at the time while enjoying the blueberry earl grey to enhance the floral & citrusy flavor. The strawberry shortcake is reminiscent of a strawberry shortcake (cake) but in a donut form. I especially loved the strawberry icing! A tad pricey at $3.50/donut, but it's not a stretch in comparison to some of the gourmet donut shops. Donuts re-imagined... gluten-free? That's fōnuts fo' yah. =) I can now cross this fantabulous donut shop off my to-do list... thanks to Jesse for these awesome treats! There was even an extra to spare, so I took home the BLUEBERRY LEMON for my kiddos, who loved it except for the fact that they had to share 1/2. LOL I guess I'll have to make that long trek up, or I'll never hear the end of it. Recommended: Blueberry Lemon, Blueberry Earl Grey, Strawberry Shortcake.

Yelp
Would give 5stars for immaculate taste and presentation. Also sweet service but they are very expensive which makes it hard to get your daily fonut-fix. There is a reward point system you can sign up for but they only give you 1 point per purchase (not per fonut) which is kind of stingy, considering the prices. But all in all recommend it. Specially for my celiac-buddies
