A storied SGV ramen house with an unusually broad menu—from miso and shio to inventive bowls—long admired by Eater LA. Its limited hours draw faithful regulars for soulful, old-school flavors.

I had a great meal at Foo Foo Tei! The food was delicious overall, but the standout for me was definitely the broiled squid — it was cooked perfectly, tender with a nice char and full of flavor. I’d definitely come back just for that. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere made the experience even better.

Google
It is a wonderful establishment to enjoy genuine Japanese ramen and a diverse selection of accompanying dishes. My companions and I have frequented this restaurant for many years and have consistently been delighted with our experiences. Furthermore, the staff members are exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

Very Japanese restrantants Menu a lot of choices rice ramen set appetiezer Fried food not recommend not that good Ramen is good more like Japanese town style not the ramen shop style, more simple Fried rice too good Overall its a nice family or fast restaurant if u live near by

Google
Extremely disappointed. We found a sticker label inside the salad — yes, an actual price tag. When we told the staff, there was no real apology or concern, just a quick offer to bring another salad like it was nothing. No manager came by, and they only took 3 dollars off the bill. This is a serious food safety issue, and the way it was handled was unacceptable. Definitely not coming back.

Google
Found a price tag in our salad. Staff just took it away with no apology or real explanation. They casually offered to replace the salad, but didn’t seem to take it seriously. In the end, they only deducted $3 from the bill. We still paid and even tipped — but honestly, we shouldn’t have. Extremely disappointed with how Foo Foo Tei handled this. Terrible service and food safety standards. Won’t be back.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade. That’s says a lot. The restaurants has that homemade feeling to it. Foo Foo Tei offers variety of dishes, but they are famous for their ramen. I love the number 17 Ramen and I would order that every time. Their portion portion is gigantic (despite being decently priced), so if you are ordering Ramen be careful not to order too many appetizers unless you are a big eater. Their portion portion restaurant can get real busy, so you should arrive a little before opening time to avoid the wait.

Google
For 20+ years we never asked for any adjustment on oil, salt nor noodle softness but every bowl has been so tasty and flavorful. Our favorites are Nanchatte (white soup tonkatsu) and Tanmen (siyo pork and veggies) with broil squid appetizer. Be there 10-15 min before opening and wait in line, otherwise the wait time will be more than 45 minutes once the 1st round of foodies are done. One of the few places not jacking up crazy prices post pandemic.

Google
Great Japanese Ramen place, even price keep increase current inflation! But recipes never deduct inside the noodle soup base what it suppose to be…dine in is better choice than to go because the flavor might change and noodle loose it’s texture for to go order. But make sure you arrive before 1pm for they cutting time for order to go and dine in, Total cost for 4 persons $66 plus $12 (18%) tips but worthy for try Japanese food fans if you don’t want to travel far location to Orange County or Anaheim.

Yelp
I dream about the nanchatte cream ramen (#17 on their menu). That's how good it is! It's as if everything warm and comfy had been rolled up into a dish. Make sure to check their hours before going because they're closed during certain hours. They have a small lot for parking, and street parking is easy to find.

Yelp
This place deserves a 5-star rating more than any other Japanese restaurant in Southern California. Having lived in Japan for over five years, I can say the food here tastes like it was brought straight from Japan. For example, their curry has the flavor of a Japanese late-night kitchen, like something from a home-cooked meal. Their fried chicken tastes just like the kind you get at an izakaya in Japan. Unlike many Japanese restaurants in the U.S., which often lack oversight from local Japanese patrons and focus more on raising prices and hype, this place puts its energy into maintaining authentic Japanese flavors. That's why every time I come here, I savor the meal even more--I don't know how long it will stay this way. The atmosphere also gives off that old-school Showa-era vibe. Their ramen is also better than that of many Japanese-style ramen shops around here, which I find both impressive and almost laughable.

Yelp
My first time here and I wouldn't go out my way to eat here again. Was in the area and wanted to try something different. Surprisingly, the food was not that good. Out of everything I had the free salad they gave me was the best. It was packed with flavor. The curry was cold and too my preferred desired it was disappointing. The squid balls were okay, but maybe it was because I never really cared for them to begin with. Don't take my opinion without trying them yourself. Maybe you might like it more than me.

Yelp
I did not even know they reopened again until the rents mentioned it. Same location as I remembered from...gosh, was it over 10 yrs ago? Sheesh, time flies. Unlike before, there was no huge line out the door. We came closer to closing, 1ish. The same menu was on the side of the wall. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered what I used to order before, #17 Nachatte Tonkatsu Ramen to split so I could order some apps too. Tempura mixed, and gyoza. They don't pan fry the dumplings like before, where it comes out like a flying saucer. They are individually pan fried like normal but still very tasty and with a lightly crispy bottom. The ramen was just how I remembered. Piping hot, which is rare in a ramen place when ordering tonkatsu based soup. Noods were al dente, just how I like it, and very slurpable. Pork slice was tender and flavorful. A bit too fatty for DD. The soup wasn't too heavy that we both did a great job down the soup. Tempura was crunchy and vegetables were tender. Excellent fry and not oily at all. I am glad they are back in business. Can't wait to come back with Hubs next time.

Yelp
#17 Broth is good. Think creamy ramen. The flavors were solid. It's no wonder why this place is well known in the area. Meat was too fatty for me. Noodles were too thin for my preference. I appreciate the temperature of the Ramen. Thanks Angel!

Yelp
A hole in wall ramen shop that sells a variety of food including noodles, curry, fried rice, and lots of appetizers. The menu is huge! Shio ramen 3.5/5 - this is the salt-based ramen. the noodles were cooked well. It was light in flavor. A few slices of pork. Shoyu ramen - 4/5 - this is a soy sauce-based ramen. The noodles were delicious! The texture were soft and chewy. Personal preference, but I enjoy shoyu a bit more. Service was great! The ladies were very attentive and helpful! There is a small parking lot.

Yelp
It seems the restaurant changed owners. The ambience is the same as previous, but seems to be quite a bit shabby and dirty. The service was good, but not 18%, 20%, nor 25% tip amount recommended on the receipt. The food portion was quite smaller as I remembered I would have extra to take home for the amount we ordered. It is still just as popular of the regular guest. We missed the old Japanese lady who would take care of everyone. There some new menu items, such as menudo Ramen, interesting. Overall, it was just okay.

Yelp
Reasonable price and variety of food choices It gets very busy so be there early as possible.

Yelp
Foo Foo Tei is a hidden gem! I love coming here for lunch. It's a small hole-in-the-wall spot with a welcoming, homey atmosphere that makes the experience even better. The staff is friendly and makes you feel right at home. The space is small, with about 15 tables inside, so it fills up fast. If you want to avoid a long wait, get there right at opening or just before, there's always a line, and for good reason. I ordered the Kimchi Ramen with Pork Chashu, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavor was perfect. My co-workers ordered the Seafood Ramen and Chicken Katsu Curry, and both were also excellent. The katsu was perfectly crispy, and the curry was rich and full of flavor. A solid spot for a cozy meal with great ramen and Japanese comfort food.
google avatar

Breanna Y.

Yelp
This is one my of new favorite ramen spots! Foo foo tei has been open for years, but I never had the chance to try it until recently. Their portion sizes are HUGE, and the ramen definitely lasted me a few meals. I got the soup with pork and veggies, and they did not skimp at all. For the portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable as well. I will 100% be coming back here!

Yelp
Traditional Ramen House I had paused for six years, today friend wanted to celebrate BDay here. We arrived at 11:30am, had expected to see a wait line like my last visit, but it was clear. The ambiance didn't change much, except less patrons. The AC was working but getting warm around 12:30pm. From the menu I ordered #27 Cold Noodle plate, it was colorfully presented, very appetizing in the summer. With a touch of mustard it was delicious! Friend had #9 Umani Ramen with Shoyu soup base in gravy. When the courteous server brought in the ramen, we could smell the aroma, very tempting. I ttried the broth, it was tasty! Next time I will order this! The serving portions were pretty large in big bowls. We both had leftovers for another meal. My next visit will be for #9.

Yelp
Had this bookmarked for a while so glad I go to try it. Don't know too much about the place, but seemed pretty popular. Short line waiting already before open at 5:30pm on a Thursday so not sure how just it normally gets. Had the katau curry omurice. Great flavor and portion size. Good variety of rice and ramen dishes to choose from
google avatar

Yelp
Foo Foo Tei has always been one of my comfort restaurants and I'm glad to see it hasn't changed too much after all these years. I went on a Friday for lunch and there wasn't a line so I was glad we were able to be seated right away. Usually the lines get long on weekends so I highly recommend going on weekdays if possible. Every time I come here, I always get the Ten-Shin ramen and Fried liver. The ten-shin ramen is packed with flavor and if you like thick broth, this one's for you. The fried liver is also a classic and paired with the sauce that's on the side is also a hit. This time I also tried the squid which I thought was very flavorful and well cooked! Foo Foo Tei is almost hidden and it's not part of a busy street so it's nice to know there's plenty of parking space outside of the internal parking. The inside feels like you're in someone's kitchen enjoying a nice meal. It's pretty small, but it definitely gives a more intimate vibe.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Have been coming here for over a decade and quality never disappoints. We put our name down for 2 at 7PM on a Friday and waited 35 minutes. They have an extensive menu and quick service. This time, I ordered the pork cutlet omelet rice and takoyaki. Takoyaki was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the soft smooth m texture of the eggs was delicious with the crunchy crust of the pork cutlet and the well cooked rice. Ratio of curry was great too, and portion size was large. The food is authentic with a distinctly home-cooked taste. There's a small parking lot for the restaurant, or street parking.
google avatar

Wen Zhao Y.

Yelp
This place was in an unassuming plaza. No frills place with comfort food. I got their combination ramen and grilled squid. The flavors were delicious and the squid was fresh.

Yelp
My husband and 2 kids came at 11:24am on Sunday and got seated with the first batch of ppl in line. I have been sitting here since 11:30AM. It's currently 12:31pm and we've gotten NONE of our food. Won't be coming back here.
google avatar

Edward B.

Yelp
Nice spot to get great food. Ordered some curry omurice on the go. Prices are pretty good and the server was helpful in getting my order in. I'll eat in next time when I have more time in the area.

Yelp
******FOO FOO TEI IS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP First of all, we went at noon time on a Saturday, if you've been here in the past, you'll know the lines out of the door and it's not unusual to wait in line for 45 min to an hour. Not today. only half of the restaurant was full. We ordered take out. the person who took our phone call says since we ordered more than 6 items she asks us to leave a tip. Mind you, my family has been coming to this restaurant for more than 20 years. Ate at the restaurant, take out. the person in charge was so rude, we put 0 on tip. She chased us out to ask for tip, for takeout order. She says they don't charge a service fee, but ask to leave a tip. Food tastes different. this is under a new ownership, we didn't see any familiar faces at all. All new staff. I no longer recommend this establishment. Please stay away. Sadly, We will not be coming back

Yelp
Best kept secret place for Japanese food in Hacienda Heights. Big selection of noodles dishes and food selection. Reasonable prices. Been there and never been disappointed.
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
A banger. The absolute best ramen in LA. This hole in the wall is an old house converted into a restaurant. The older ladies serving ramen and the most epic sides are always sweet and friendly. Highly suggest the fried oysters, number 17 ramen if you love tonkatsu, and the beef tomato ramen. Wanted to gate keep this place but just can't
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Very good Tempura, yummy egg curry rice, very tasty fried chicken. But the ramen was ok, nothing outstanding, and my kid was looking for Narutomaki as it didn't come with it. We asked for it, and the server replied like it was there and made us liar with a very mean stone cold face. I'm still giving 4 stars for Tempura and Egg curry rice. But I may not go there again.
google avatar

Zach D.

Yelp
This place ruined my expectations for Japan. I LOVE ramen and even in Japan in the famous and trending ramen restaurants Foo Foo Tei remains a top contender among the best ramen I've ever had. I'm specifically speaking about their #17 nanchatte tonkotsu ramen. The store itself seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but when I tell you I drive over an hour to get ramen specifically from here, it's that worth it. They offer generous portions, perfect medium thickness chewy noodles, a creamy aromatic broth all at a more than reasonable price. (I love getting the large upgrade as it's comically large)
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
truly a hidden gem and a must try mom and pop spot. located in such a odd spot, but the flavors are quite the opposite. i believe the ramen i got was what their known for, a thick creamy chicken broth that is reminiscent of a tonkotsu soup. So unique and phenomenal. My gf got their seaweed soup ramen, and that was pretty tasty. Other than the amazing ramen, i would highly recommend the nankotsu, it was perfectly seasoned and crunchy. it can with a seasoned salt which enhanced the flavor more. Service was so friendly and I was impressed at the speed they were working at. Once a diner/diners was done, they were on it. Only indoor seating and the parking lot is decent, but the location gets packed during dinner rush, so you might have to park outside. It's really a no frills location.
google avatar

Siao Z.

Yelp
Both nanchatte ramen and the pork kimchee was extremely good. No complains about the food. Would come back for the food. Service wise, the old aunties weren't the best with their patience. I misunderstood the aunty calling out our name for the table and said a second time "i'm here for xx table" and she gave me sort of an attitude when explaining what she meant. Didn't really like that part of the service. Other than that, they took the order quick, and have our food our quick. Not sure if it's because its close to their closing time for lunch or their service is just fast. Please know: 1:00-5:30pm they close for a small break.
google avatar

EVELYN C.

Yelp
Authentic Japanese ramen place, one of my favorites. The price went up over the years, but the food is still great and good value. It's a must try restaurant in the area.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
The food is great. About as close to authentic Japanese ramen as it gets. You can taste the care and work they put into the broth, noodles, and side dishes. Their service is a bit slow, but that's because they take their time to make sure that the food is the best it can be (it is). Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Came here recently because I was craving omelet rice or omurice. I ended ordering the omelet rice with the curry and to start, I ordered the natto (again - just like my first visit here). I really do enjoy the natto and it's definitely growing on me overall. The way it's served with taro, mustard, and okra here gives it dimensions of flavor and texture. The omelet rice was great. It came with some miso soup and a side salad. The portion here is really large. I ended up taking leftovers and eating it for dinner that same night. Although I've only visited this place twice as of 4/24, I really love this place. Just a feeling of a family owned /operated, old timey Japanese cafe. Plenty of options to choose from and just very friendly people and from what I ordered so far I have loved everything. On my previous visit, I thought it was crazy since there was a long wait during a weekday. I've been working in the area for about 8 months and it was the only time I've had to sign up and wait for a table (not complaining, just an observation). On this past visit, while the restaurant was still busy, I was able to sit right away. I'm guessing on my previous visit, it was that odd time of the year during the holidays when students were off and people were in town so people were going to lunch here during a weekday.

Seno C.

Yelp
Always great Japanese Ramen. A lot of varieties and foods are delicious. Service is fast, great and friendly. Inside is crowded, clean but air circulation is not great especially during summer season. I have noticed that after the pandemic, the portion is a bit smaller or there are few things that is not included.
google avatar

Wayne T.

Yelp
When I first tried ramen, this is where it started. I'm talking about 20 years ago. I used to love eating here and ordering miso ramen. There were some other items I've had in the past. This place is filled with so many memories. However, this place just isn't the same as before. The taste isn't as great. The miso ramen lacks flavor and it took a while to prepare. The service was decent. As far as how clean this place is; it's as clean as it can get. This restaurant is old. But it still reminds me of the good old days!
google avatar

Chi W.

Yelp
I haven't been here in ages. So it was quite nice and nostalgic when I came here a few days ago. The place hasn't changed a bit, the casual hole-in-a-wall vibe like I remember. I remember it being great when I came here over 8 years ago. But for some reason, I wasn't terribly impressed this time. I had the Crab Omelet over Rice with Gravy, and was a bit disappointed to find it was imitation crab, and the taste was just OK. It could just be the dish I ordered... as my friend had a curry rice dish and it was delish! Other than the food, the service as very good. Even though it was on a Friday night, we didn't have to wait for long before being seated. I'll definite come back if I am in town the next time, and most definitely try something else.
google avatar

Peggy S.

Yelp
really wanted to love this place--at least for the ramen. I first tried it about 8 years ago and wasn't impressed. I recently gave it another shot, but unfortunately, my feelings haven't changed. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and while the portion was generous, it was overwhelmingly salty and oily. A lot of people seem to swear by this spot, but it just doesn't do it for me. Honestly, I think there are much better ramen options in the area. Service was good though.

Mandy H.

Yelp
They are changing the business hours again.... Not sure about the new hours but the menu prices are definitely out dated (I order 4 $10 curry rice and end up with a $78 bill)

Victor L.

Yelp
Beware!! Worst restaurants service !!! I hope the business owner/ management will see this and follow up with me. I ordered 17 take out orders over the phone. When we arrived to pick up the food, the staff there ( the elderly Japanese female) demented me to pay 18% tips. I ask her nicely why there will be tips required for take out order and this was not mentioned up front in the call. She said it is too much work for her for such a big order ( exactly her own wording) . I asked her that if your are open door for business that why would complain having a customer who bring you a big order which make you money? However that lady was so rude and refuse to communicate me. She threatened me that she will wrote down my name and phone number and will not take our phone order from now on. This is a perfect example of how this tips system getting out of control in California. Increased frequency of requests, higher suggested percentages, feeling pressured, lack of transparency and inflationary pressures. I pretty sure I am not the one and only customer experiencing that. Let us all stand up and do not silently tolerate this kind of unfair treatment .
google avatar

Elyssa C.

Yelp
Foo Foo Tei is a hidden gem, and their pork katsu curry with egg is the closest I've had to the curry I fell in love with in Japan. The katsu is perfectly crispy, the curry is so rich and flavorful, and the egg just ties everything together. If you're a fan of Japanese curry, this is a must-try. Beyond the food, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The space is small, but they make it feel inviting, creating a warm, homey atmosphere that adds to the experience. Because there are only about 15ish tables inside, the place fills up fast. If you want to avoid a long wait, get there right at opening or just before--there's always a line, and for good reason.
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. I finally did with my family a week ago. We all ordered the #17 under Ramen noodles. The broth was creamy but full of so much flavor. The pork they gave you was generous and buttery soft so it melted in your mouth. Definitely going to come back and try their other menu items. The menu is so large I definitely need to read some of the reviews from other Yelpers for suggestions. A great spot for Ramen on cold days.

Yelp
Heard many great things about this almost hole in the wall spot for Japanese food. The place almost seems like a house turned into a restaurant, smack in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Has a big parking lot on the side. The menu is diverse and the portions are big for the lunch price, and the place feels homey. However I don't feel like the food is that authentic. Broiled Squid- Served whole on a plated, cut into slices. Decent taste and comes with sauce on the side, but I think this is an average dish, not the most flavorful or the most special texture wise. 3/5 Umani Ramen- Comes with an almost gravy-like texture of (shoyu?) soup with a bunch of condiments including seafood, ginger, half a hard boiled egg, veggies, and a whole bunch of mushrooms. Like, a whole bunch of mushroom. Unless youre an absolute mushroom lover, you'll get tired of these mushroom after a few bites of this. Was hoping for way more seafood than the 2 pieces of shrimp in this bowl. Also, the way it's thrown together reminds me of Chinese noodle places actually. The portion of this is gigantic though. 2/5 Omelet Rice with Pork Cutlet- my favorite one out of the three. The curry is thick and flavorful, and goes well with the egg and the cutlet. Some parts of the pork is considered dry, and the outer fried layer sometimes easily separates from the pork. This dish is also gigantic. 4/5

Yelp
The No.17 ramen is delicious! Creamy, garlicky, and with a little bit of a ginger kick. This is a very basic restaurant as far as looks go. You can tell that they put their time and effort into the food and not into the decor. But, everything is serviceable and clean! Make sure you get there before it opens. We arrived at 5pm and, by the time it opened at 5:30, there was already a significant line.
google avatar

Yelp
Very small parking lot but lots of street parking. I had a short wait during lunch time on a weekend. The staff are super nice and food comes out very fast Nanchatte tonkatsu ramen: milky creamy and flavor broth. It's very comforting especially on a cold day. Ramen noodles are cooked just right. Deep fried stuffed soft shell crab: a nice appetizer. The outside is very crispy and it appears to be stuffed with imitation crab meat. Omelet rice with pork cutlet and curry sauce: the portion is very large. It was very delicious. Curry sauce is nice and sweet. The pork cutlet is nice and crispy, the meat is juicy. I would definitely get this again and it would be two meals. Definitely stop by when you're craving some comfort Japanese food! The menu is very large and there is a lot to try.

Yelp
It saddens me to update my review to a 1, but I would literally give them a 0 if possible, after today's experience. We got better service at Akasaka and McD's today, and also at DQ's/Orange Julius in the afternoon, along with a Taiwanese Bakery this morning. We have been customers of Foo Foo Tei for more than a decade, but today's experience was the WORST ever. During the pandemic, we supported Foo Foo Tei by ordering takeout when there was no dine-in. Today, we were on our way home and were craving both something from Akasaka and from Foo Foo Tei. We ordered from Akasaka first, and then drove to the (nearly empty) parking lot of Foo Foo Tei a little before 6 pm. First off, there was a random wooden chair in front of the door, that I had to move in order to get through the door, and then when we stepped in... we were ignored for more than 10 minutes. Only less than half the restaurant was full and there were 3 servers. So we stood off to the side, and tried to stay out of their way, but no matter what, they were annoyed with us. Second, we wanted to take a quick look at the menu, which one of the servers had in her hand, because we were debating between 2 separate ramens, but NOPE she told us to step back outside in the 86+ weather, with the sun shining/reflecting off the faded menu, to look at the menu. We stepped back inside and when another party came in, they DIRECTLY went up to them and promptly seated them while ignoring us for minutes. Even though we had been craving ramen from Foo Foo Tei for months, this sort of experience left a really bad taste in our mouth, we ended up just leaving. When we finally got to the parking lot, they were like "wait, wait!" Like... now we are human people? We ended up leaving because 3 servers all "eyed" us and saw us there but what basically would have been 2-minute order at the cashier became a waste of 20 minutes. We are always mindful of busy-ness and small mom and pop businesses, but customer service has gone way down (in general) these days. It is absolutely disheartening that what was once our favorite ramen shop in the area will no longer get our business.
google avatar

Aila B.

Yelp
Came in when the restaurant was a little over half full, was seated and given water, and then promptly ignored for half an hour. The two waitresses serving our corner of the room routinely eyed our table, but never came back. We never got menues, despite the fact the one of waitresses set up the table directly next to us WITH menus.... how could we not feel ignored? I gave up, we just ended up leaving. Supported this place a lot thru takeout over the pandemic, but never again. If the last time you came here was a year or two ago and you had a great experience, just keep the happy memory and don't come back.

Yelp
Have had this place bookmarked for years and finally came to try it. Got their miso ramen & nanchatte. Nanchatte ramen was so flavorful but not too heavy. Miso tasted bland in comparison BUT just because i had it side by side. Still good if I got miso on its own and didn't taste the other ramen. Also got their foo foo tei potatoes. Not anything special, wouldn't get again. Parking can get packed because it's a tiny lot so come 15 min early. Line was long before it even opened.

Yelp
Got the order wrong and asked us to prove it while dining in. WTF. Embarrassing for my family.

Yelp
OMG. This place is literally my favorite place on earth. If I can give a 10 out of 5, I would do it without hesitation. I generally hate waiting in line because I just don't think waiting for an hour for food is worth it. However, this place is the exception. My boyfriend introduced me to this place because it's been his family's favorite restaurant for a long time. This place has existed for awhile. Any time, I am driving by this area, I would come up with an excuse or make a plan to eat at this restaurant. Their food is SO good. My go-to is the omlet curry katsu. Their cutlet is crispy, omlet is so well-made and soft, and curry is also perfect. Also , I LOVE their draft sapporo beer. Any time I go here, the next day I wake up thinking of their food and beer. They have a huge selection, and honestly I think everything is really good. This place stops taking people in around 1:20pm (they close at 2:30pm... I think for lunch) So if you want to try this place, you have to come either early around 11:30am or 5pm. It's not huge inside, which is why there's always a wait, and the ambiance is nothing special. Just a local, family restaurant.

Yelp
I never really had to point this out in any of my reviews, but I have noticed some passive aggressive comments coming from the manager when there's a low rating. If that's the case, please respect my honest review and my thoughts that may or may not be taken into considerations or is favorable by the restaurant. They had a variety of menu you can choose from, but we ended up getting Omelet Rice with Pork Cutlet, Umani Ramen, and Broiled Squid. Keep in mind that on the front page, they did have a disclaimer that if you don't want a specific ingredient, to let them know ahead of time. The first entree to arrive was the Broiled Squid. I honestly thought it was okay. It was quite bland, and the sauce was very fluid to the point where it was quite flavorless and simple. The Omelet Rice with Pork Cutlet was okay. The egg was cooked to perfection; however, it was the sauce for me. The sauce was too salty, and the rice did help balance it out but there was more sauce than rice. As for the pork, it was a bit dry itself, and the outer layer was crispy for some parts, but the problem was that it didn't quite stick to the pork. The Umani Ramen was the worse one. Growing up, going to temples and getting food there reminded me of this dish. The only difference was that those places are on a donation basis, as for this place, it's overpriced. I feel like the ingredients they provided was so scattered to the point where it didn't quite mesh well together. It had a wide variety of mushrooms, overpowering the dish after each bite. On top of that they had corn that wasn't really corn but a corn shaped ingredient with corn flavor, sad. Overall, the rest consisted of a small portion of cabbages, peas, and everything else you can think. As for the sauce, it was so, so thick to the point where you can't really drink it without thinking of corn starch. If you're looking for some ramen, I honestly wouldn't recommend getting it here. There are better one elsewhere. Service could also be better. One of the younger male servers was super nice, however, one of the female elderly was not. I had read what each of the dishes consist of, but I have no idea how I missed the ginger. Therefore, I scooped the ginger out. I admit, it was my bad for not telling them ahead of time, but I didn't like how they handled the situation. After seeing the ginger on a plate, the female server confronted and interrogated me on why I didn't tell her ahead of time. Then, she continued embarrassing me by asking whether I read the front of the menu and how I need to read it again. AGAIN, it was my bad and I even apologized WHICH I didn't think was necessary considering how I paid for that entree including ingredients that comes with it. She then walked away shaking her head. Let me just say that I HAVE NEVER been told by any staff on how I should eat my dish. I get that prices are increasing but maybe focus on making customers happy rather than just the cost of ONE ingredient?

Yelp
love this ramen place, i've been to the alhambra main street location which unfortunately closed down. go support the OG! They have this cream broth soup (Number 17 Nanchatte Tonkotsu Ramen) which is super good and is what they're known for... they also have tons of options like curry ramen, duck ramen, and your typical shoyu / shio... ect. Super busy so come early, its a no fuss, eat and get out kinda atmosphere. Very diner-esque. The people working here were working hard and I could see that they were trying their best. Seems like they were understaffed but as a mom and pop shop, that's to be expected. This is the place to go when you have a decent sized group of people who all want different things... they have almost every sort of asian noodle... even mapo tofu ramen. lol. interesting. Plenty of street parking + a lot that has a few spots available. average spend per person is prob $15ish-$20.

Yelp
I came with a party of 3 and the wait time was ~20 minutes on a thurs evening. I was lucky enough to get a spot in their small parking lot but most people will park on the streets. All 3 of us got the tonkotsu ramen and we all liked it! It was delicious w/ a sweet broth. definitely want to try an omurice or tonkatsu dish next time I come!

Yelp
Foo Foo Tei is *the* place to go to if you're looking for a delicious bowl of ramen, minus the bells and whistles of the viral ramen spots you see on social media. They're quite understaffed, so expect slower service. Recommend coming right when they open to ensure a shorter wait. There's always a line before opening!

Yelp
Not bad but bot great had the pork and veg ramen. Noodle portion is on the small side and I don't eat alot. Wait is ridiculous, took ober an hour to get my to go order and i got there 5 mins after they opened on a Saturday. Girls wokri6there are nice though but someone needs to whip that food prep and delivery time under control. I will not be returning unless i have 2 hours to kill waiting for my order.
