I never really had to point this out in any of my reviews, but I have noticed some passive aggressive comments coming from the manager when there's a low rating. If that's the case, please respect my honest review and my thoughts that may or may not be taken into considerations or is favorable by the restaurant.
They had a variety of menu you can choose from, but we ended up getting Omelet Rice with Pork Cutlet, Umani Ramen, and Broiled Squid. Keep in mind that on the front page, they did have a disclaimer that if you don't want a specific ingredient, to let them know ahead of time.
The first entree to arrive was the Broiled Squid. I honestly thought it was okay. It was quite bland, and the sauce was very fluid to the point where it was quite flavorless and simple.
The Omelet Rice with Pork Cutlet was okay. The egg was cooked to perfection; however, it was the sauce for me. The sauce was too salty, and the rice did help balance it out but there was more sauce than rice. As for the pork, it was a bit dry itself, and the outer layer was crispy for some parts, but the problem was that it didn't quite stick to the pork.
The Umani Ramen was the worse one. Growing up, going to temples and getting food there reminded me of this dish. The only difference was that those places are on a donation basis, as for this place, it's overpriced. I feel like the ingredients they provided was so scattered to the point where it didn't quite mesh well together. It had a wide variety of mushrooms, overpowering the dish after each bite. On top of that they had corn that wasn't really corn but a corn shaped ingredient with corn flavor, sad. Overall, the rest consisted of a small portion of cabbages, peas, and everything else you can think. As for the sauce, it was so, so thick to the point where you can't really drink it without thinking of corn starch. If you're looking for some ramen, I honestly wouldn't recommend getting it here. There are better one elsewhere.
Service could also be better. One of the younger male servers was super nice, however, one of the female elderly was not. I had read what each of the dishes consist of, but I have no idea how I missed the ginger. Therefore, I scooped the ginger out. I admit, it was my bad for not telling them ahead of time, but I didn't like how they handled the situation. After seeing the ginger on a plate, the female server confronted and interrogated me on why I didn't tell her ahead of time. Then, she continued embarrassing me by asking whether I read the front of the menu and how I need to read it again. AGAIN, it was my bad and I even apologized WHICH I didn't think was necessary considering how I paid for that entree including ingredients that comes with it. She then walked away shaking her head. Let me just say that I HAVE NEVER been told by any staff on how I should eat my dish. I get that prices are increasing but maybe focus on making customers happy rather than just the cost of ONE ingredient?
