On the Grid : Fairway

"You're probably all like, "what? it's a supermarket." When really what you should be thinking is, "Right, it's THE supermarket." The food-obsessed in me wants everyone to know that this place has it all - the largest selection of everything from local and fresh produce, basic groceries, organic products... There's a room dedicated to olive oil and another to coffee. In the summer, the lobster roll ($10) is a treat, enjoyed in their back patio with killer views of the the building it's housed in, a vintage Red Hook trolley, and NY Bay." - Michael Ciancio

"Beyond being one of the more perfect independent grocery stores around, Fairway is the perfect New York cross section: You'll see young families, old ladies in fur coats, students looking for good food at good prices, and just about every New York "type" you can think of. Beyond the cultural experience, the Red Hook branch in particular boasts the square footage, plus a frozen-foods department you can actually walk into (there are jackets you can borrow to go in), an amazing cheese selection, and a free parking lot. Pretty cool grocery store. A lot bigger than it looks. Got lost a few times. They even got a bar and take it restaurant in the back. Have different foods the place makes and a bbq spot. I came here to get cups!!! Got some fruits last time. The back is really nice. Bathroom in back becomes the bathroom right away also. Only makes cents if you use the bathroom in the back

Absolutely stellar selection, quality and prices! Generous free samples and friendly staff. The cafe views and vibe are unparalleled. Whether you’re doing a Thanksgiving food shop, or just having a beer by the river, don’t sleep on the Red Hook FOOD BAZAAR

My mom and I have been to this store years ago and that my mom drove the vehicle there. This is a big supermarket and that it has a patio with a view of busy New York harbor. My mom and I bought fresh produce like vegetables, and many other things in the store and paid for it.

Google
Photos does not do this place justice, Red Hook Brooklyn. This store has it all and from everywhere. One of the best grocery stores I’ve ever been in pricing is on point. I just wanted to highlight the coffee section here. Look at this!

Writing this review for a friend, overall the quality of the food bazaar cuisine and setting of the cafe are acceptable for a nice work lunch romp. My friend liked the sandwich of the day some sort of cheese steak sandwich, although I heard him complain of the quality of the bread. In short, he was satisfied, so take that for what it's worth to you personally. I know I would. His question is "can a business not consent to being on Google?" An interesting query. Anyways have a good y'all and keep trucking.

GROCERIES ON THE WATERFRONT 🌊 It’s a very large grocery store but as others have stated the real gem 💎 is the outside eating area in the back. A great hack is to buy their lobster 🦞 by the pound and they will steam them and pre crack them for you. Put on the provided gloves and eat lobster overlooking the ocean! Best deal! And best view! Totally beats Red Hook Lobster Pound in my opinion. The “Waterfront Burger” is also an outstanding double patty burger 🍔 and if the barbecue grill is open, they also have baby back ribs. You can buy beer 🍻 from the groceries and enjoy your drinks outside. Eat, relax, and let the kids run around the dock. If you go early during breakfast it’s especially enjoyable in the back because the morning sun is rising so you’ll be in the shade. Oh and there’s groceries too haha. It’s a total win! Highly recommend this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place is kind of amazing. Not only do they have some of the best deals on food in New York City – especially considering the price of eggs up in Harlem ($9). The best kept secret about this: they have a full solid bar and sandwich/sushi spot in the back of the store. Grab a sandwich and a drink and you can sit on their back patio with a gorgeous view of the water and you get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty.

Google
An oasis for food enthusiasts! This spot in Brooklyn offers an exceptional shopping experience. Fresh produce, an extensive array of organic fruits, and a mushroom collection that astounds. Their kitchen and bakery serve up delightful quick bites and pastries, including onion bread and bagels. The cheese selection is a cheese lover's dream with varieties from around the globe. The meat and fish departments excel, offering quality cuts and the freshest seafood. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee from their roastery invites you in, complemented by an impressive selection of teas. And don't miss the chance to unwind at their tables, savoring the ocean air and the stunning view of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline. This place is not just for shopping; it's a sanctuary to relish moments of tranquility in the midst of a bustling day.

Yelp
I love this store so much! I work a few blocks up and I love coming in here b4 work to just browse around, pick up something for lunch or just a few things I cant get at my local Bensonhurst Key Food. They have a great deli in back with everything from Tacos to Sushi. A pretty solid Lobster Roll with cole slaw and a pickle for just 19.99 (a bargain compared to the famous place up Van Brunt) that you can take to their back deck with beautiful views of the river,Statue of Liberty and Verrazano bridge. They even have a few cornhole boards and in summer Saturdays they do outdoor cookouts. They have a great meat dept that i have bought a few kebabs that we have cooked out on our grill in office yard (Red Hook is the best),verey impressive fish dept and a wonderful collection of sauces and condiments that if I keep buying im gonna have to move to a bigger apt! Staff are all very friendly and self checkout is easy peasy. I wish they were near where i live!

Yelp
This food market is excellent with full range of lovely produce, meats, fish etc. The market is spacious and very clean. The prices are reasonable for the most part. I purchased apples, carrots, potatoes fresh squeezed orange juice, bread, water just some minor items.

Yelp
Best deals around! Food Bazaar has great food at great prices. Inflation is a big problem - the price of a half gallon milk reached 8$ in my neighborhood. The prices are shockingly high. Every time I look at the receipt, I cannot believe it. I started shopping around. At first I tried Wegmans. Then I tried Fairway. And several other grocery chains. Finally, I went to Food Bazaar. When they have a sale, it's a real sale. This week, I scored whipped cream for 2$ - other places charge double that. Milk was under 7$ - nice selection of brands too. Everything was fresh. So far, so good ! Love Food Bazaar. * A nice bonus - the Red Hook location is near the water- great views on the other side of the parking lot.

Yelp
In old Fairways' footprint Food Bazaar is a really welcome addition to the neighborhood. Despite its size it's like a hidden gem. There is an exceptionally wide variety of fresh and packaged foods, here It stocks the most reasonably priced organic chicken in the city and the fish market is very fresh. Most fish has been packaged the same day. The produce area has the usual fresh produce but also a much wider variety than most, whether it's mangosteens, fresh horseradish, or any dried Mexican chile. They stock cleaners like Citrasolv and Dr Bronners soaps, also more reasonably priced than anywhere else. Staff are helpful and friendly if you need anything.

Yelp
A maze of food and spices. Friendly workers, and great selection of anything imaginable. Beautiful location too.

Yelp
Who would think to look for lobster rolls in Food Bazaar?! This supermarket in Red Hook has them for only $18 and they're delicious! It also has a really nice outdoor eating area with great views! Love the super cool, historic building it's located in. Wide selection of everything. Super clean and organized.

Yelp
Staff here is very helpful, the store is very clean, they have an insane selection of grocery items that regular people could want. Sales are really good! Bonus: the sunset right by this store is insane, catch views of the Statue of Liberty while here.

Yelp
I made a trip to Food Bazaar to buy goods for a birthday party. The store has a large parking lot, and it is accessible by bus. I had a long list of items and I was able to find all but one. My first item was Italian Parsley. It looked good and was fairly priced at $1.50 a bunch. Fresh Mozzarella at $6.99/lb was also a fair price. I ordered six Rib Eye Steaks and had them custom cut, at $15.99/lb. I ordered domestic Prosciutto and it was reasonable at 19.99/lb. Faroe Island Salmon at $21.99/lb was very reasonable as well. I purchased a container of pitted Kalamata Olives too. I went home and I cooked everything. While everything was fairly priced, it was not top quality. The Olives were delicious, but the Mozzarella was a bit hard. The Prosciutto wasn't the best I've tasted, and the Steaks had a bit too much fat. Check out was very quick however.

Yelp
If I did not know better, I'd think I was stepping into Fairway. This used to be Fairway and the last time i visited the Red Hook location was 2009. It seems nothing has changed in terms of layout. Massive supermarket with much to offer and some of the prices reflect that. They're either standard or a bit pricey. Huge butcher department, fresh fish section, cheese, coffee, bottled oils and vinegar and produce. I caught glimpse of some good deals. It seems that the cafe is closed. Whether due to the pandemic or not, I don't know. When it was Fairway and I happened to pay a visit, I'd take my lunch outside. The view was lovely, facing the water. I picked up a few essentials and felt as though I stepped back in time. I liked what I saw, but since I do not live in the area, it won't be my go to place to shop.
google avatar

Yelp
It was our tradition come to Fairway for their $9.99 lobster rolls and bagels. It was a great place to get a snack when riding our bikes around red Hook. Let's just say the price was right. Thankfully, Food bazaar has lobster rolls! They upped the price 3 bucks, but that's still pretty damn good. And they taste the same which is great! Upon touring the grocery store, I noticed they no longer have some of the gourmet sections, but most choices and the prices seem comparable. Some prices are pretty high, similar to how Fairway used to be.

Yelp
This place sucks. It's chaotically laid out. it's hard to find a staff person, and when you do you get the feeling they're doing a favor by helping you. They have some fancy holiday bags and they charge you $1.62 for them. I've heard of charging $.10 for a bag, I've heard of charging $0.25. This is the first time I've seen a bag that cost $1.62. We know you're in business to make a profit but give us a fucking break. and then after you pay for the bag the cashier just stands there and watches as you load it up. not recommended.

Yelp
Today December 24, 2023 I went to buy wild shrimp, so I bought 1.5 pounds of it. When I got home and washed it thoroughly however after I cooked it immediately I felt the sand in it, was disgusting. I washed it all over again and I felt the sand one more time, I throw it away. I wonder why the price per pound was very low, around 8.99 because it was wild. Please don't go to this supermarket, it changed a lot for the worst, they committing fraud all the time.

Yelp
This review is more of the differences between Food Bazaar and Fairway (former market in location). Food Bazaar seems more organized than Fairway was, especially at the end of its existence in Red Hook. In terms of groceries, Food Bazaar offers a winder selection of international foods, especially Latino and Asian. While the meat selection is greater at Food Bazaar, there are fewer organic and natural meat selections. This is also the case for produce - more options in general, but fewer organic options. One thing that is disappointing is that they use so much styrofoam and plastic wrap. With Fairway, there were more loose produce, and the meat and seafood was wrapped in paper and a plastic bag. At Food Bazaar, the seafood, meat, and many veggies are on styrofoam dishes wrapped in plastic. The bakery is far inferior to Fairway's also. The baguettes and bagels just don't taste as good. And the bags on the whole wheat baguettes always break open! The cafe is back open, and the omelettes are as delicious as always (same cooks preparing the food for years).

Yelp
This used to be a Fairway and to my surprise it's been replaced with Food Bazaar. The whole vibe change. The employees were rude. The items in the store look dusty and the large olive oil section was gone. Barely any sales. I ended up with a few over price items.
google avatar

Yelp
It's OK. I like Fairway better, and miss it! Fairway had a better selection, especially of their prepared foods - we miss the heros (meatball parm, chicken parm, chix salad etc) produce section seems a lot emptier as well: ex) the entire section of pre-package lettuce mixes was more or less empty minus a few stragglers, the other night. Also, I loved Fairway's mobile check out! It was so cool! You'd just hold yourself iPhone up to the barcode as you went along putting the stuff in your cart & even right into your reusable bags! At the special check out lane, all your would do is scan the code there, the payment is completed with your preferred method on file, and your walk out!! At the onset of Covid, the lines were swirling throughout the store, and I'd just throw my items in my cart, scan and walk out! Ha! It was so cool! Anyway, yeah, I miss Fairway!

Yelp
Love their rotisserie chickens. They have Latin, herb and other flavors. All for $9. Plentiful selection of goods. Great place to stop by for lunch and grab groceries. They have a food station in the back. More importantly I found my Tony Chocolonely's here. They make some of the best chocolate. Cheers to great selection at your supermarket!
google avatar

Willie G.

Yelp
Came yesterday to shop. I was happy the top end quality of Fairway for this location was upheld and even improved on. The food bazaar by us in Bushwick is great, especially the fish section. So if this location can bring that Latin flavor with a top end touch it should be a huge asset to this community. And Please management, I beg you!!!! Make full use of that water front yard!!! Some good Latin flavor grill could be a huge plus for this location. Thank you for keeping the cafe n hot food as well! Wish you all the best of success. That water front with its sunset by the Statue of Liberty, Every evening has to be one of the best views on the Eastern Seaboard no hands down, please make full use of it!

Yelp
This location is impressive! Reminiscences of Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard . The food is exceptional. The service is always great. The bar and grill are open. Great place to come and enjoy your summer. Good food good people, great bears also available!

Yelp
Very nice grocery store. Shopping in Brooklyn New York is very different from shopping near my home in Rhode Island. They carry so many organic foods and specialty foods and ethnic foods that it is really fun to walk around and see what they have. The store is just chock-full and there is not an empty space. You could have your coffee ground here or buy any kind of organic produce and get fresh made bagels. They also have a café which is one of my favorite places to go get breakfast. What are your food which is made to order and get yourself some coffee and go out to the newly remodeled eating area and have your breakfast looking out at the Statue of Liberty.

Tatyana C.

Yelp
They sell spoiled products. So, yesterday, November 21, I bought spoiled GOYA green peas on Thanksgiving , which are not green at all, but light brown in a cloudy sauce.
google avatar

Yelp
I thought I was really going to miss the Fairway in this location. Food Bazaar has been decent with their selection and prices. They also kept some of the same items I normally come here for when it was the old Fairway. What holds me back from making this place my weekly go to is the poor returns on their loyalty program. Food Bazaar gives you $10 off after you spend $1000 with them that is being tracked by their app. I miss the days of the $10 coupons when you spend $50 at Fairway. But I will continue to support this location for some of my monthly basics.

Wen L.

Yelp
Excellent lobster rolls! Will be back to try the pizza. Oh yeah and it's a supermarket with great prices on groceries!
google avatar

Frankie R.

Yelp
3 stars is generous. I miss fairway more and more after every time i step foot in here. Produce is truly horrible - apples tastes like sand, berries are always moldy, produce goes bad literally by the next day or by the time i walk home. Truly a waste.
google avatar

Yelp
Can't believe I've lived this close without coming by this way yet. The selection was great; I got everything on my list, even though we originally popped in to grab a few things. I'm reviewing mostly to shout out Robert in the cheeses section. He was behind the corner, spotted us staring like lost puppies at the cheese, and offered his help. He specifically asked what we're making. We answered, "Mac and cheese," and he was like, "Say no more." He walked us over to the perfect cheeses and even introduced us to one we hadn't added to our baked mac and cheese before, but we're very excited about it. Best customer service; he's super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Well done!
google avatar

Edward L.

Yelp
They have to improve their fruits and vegetables, which are no better than the usual grubby supermarkets. The rest of the store is well stocked and decent.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Coming to this Fairway location used to be a highlight of my day. I'd ride out after a long day of writing / processing emails and it was a little bit of heaven to relax w/a scone, a tea and the beautiful harbor view. And maybe pick from the treats in this once special grocery store. But no more. I just stopped in to the "new" Food Bazaar (at 9am on a Sunday AM) and there's very few baked goods to be found--perhaps a little unusual on a morning like this. So I asked: What's coming out of the oven? I got "Muffins - in 30 minutes." However, it wasn't said: Hey, we're working on it. The message was delivered similar to a certain unpleasant expression which means: "Get lost!" So I will! after a decade of coming here regularly, I won't come back. Who needs to be insulted when being served?!
google avatar

Edgar F.

Yelp
I was a longtime fairway shopper, and a bit worried that Food Bazaar wouldn't live up to it. They've done a great job so far. They are making many improvements, like resurfacing the parking lot, adding new carts and registers, etc, which seems to show that the new owners are invested in the location. The shelves look fuller than they have in a while, and variety has kept too. No olive oil samples, but I think we can do just fine without. I'm glad that a good market will continue in this space, and will keep making my weekly trip.
google avatar

Bunji F.

Yelp
Richie the master roaster is still roasting. There was a Brooklyn Java special today with Tanzanian Peaberry (my favorite) and Sumatra (Richie's favorite,) added to Italian Roast Colombian beans. Smooth as silk with great flavors. The coffee alone is worth the trip to the market. This is still a go to market but: FB maintained a wide variety of produce a la Fairway, but with lower prices and lower quality. For example the pineapple is only $2.99 each fresh. I have bought twice and they have been Woody and tasteless even after letting them sit. It used to cost two dollars more each but each pineapple was always good. The cheese selection and deli counter are still excellent. They are reorganizing the store using polished and somewhat slippery cement everywhere. I'm not happy about the angles in the vegetable area. It makes a longer walk to get to something you want and you feel like you're going backwards all the time too. The moving of the fish department well it has taken up much more space than number of products is actually decreased especially whole fresh fish. They were only as selection of five today. And the cloudy eyes of the striped sea bass says they've been hanging around too long. There is not a separate organics area anymore, they have missed each product in with its own similar products so you have to search the store to find them. I'm sure they were making a bigger profit on organics before when it was grouped, but I don't have access to run numbers. Very glad they got back the old baker and are producing their own in-store goods again, much better than the ones they were bringing in during the period they weren't baking, especially the bagels. Miss the old cashiers though. Still great parking and less crowded than almost any other supermarket in the city, making it better during covid. Please re-up the produce quality.
google avatar

Syl S.

Yelp
They have kept a lot of the Fairway selection that I liked and pricing seems comparable (meaning not cheap but sale pricing is good). I often find good cuts of beef on sale for good prices and there's always at least 1 brand of sparkling water on sale. Be wary at checkout. It's not unusual for sale items to not ring up the sale prices. I think they kept the Fairway employees but I wish they would train them to act more professionally. There's always a few employees hanging out at the entrance smoking and cursing up a storm!

Larry M.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite supermarket. I don't live in the immediate neighborhood, but it only takes me about ten or fifteen minutes to get to Food Bazaar by bike. They've got everything I could possible want, and more. Including my favorite coffee. And where else can you find El Yucateco achiote paste? Nowhwere, that's where (now, if they had the sauce...) And their prices are as good or better than more mundane supermarkets like the Key Food in my neighborhood. My only gripe is that they don't seem to carry Manhattan Special coffee soda. Fairway did, but I guess Food Bazaar doesn't. Who knows why. I wish they did. But it's still my favorite supermarket. Who needs Whole Foods? Not me.
google avatar

Zac F.

Yelp
I went today for the first time and one would be hard pressed to tell it was no longer Fairway, except now the shelves are stocked again. It's been refreshed to a point but everything is mostly still in the same place. I'd read where they were beginning to move things around but I could hardly see where. The one department I was disappointed in though was the butcher. Where they used to have USDA prime beef it is now "Angus" beef, and it just did not look good. Angus is NOT prime and in fact it showed no fat at all in the cuts and that's where the flavor is. I skipped it entirely. I'll have to find a prime butcher somewhere else. If I'm going to eat beef it may as well be prime for the little I have it. I'll be back for everything else though. I hope they don't change too much, except to bring back the good beef.

Prg P.

Yelp
The selection here is amazing, and the prices provide excellent value. When they have items on sale, it's a really good sale. The meat department is outstanding - if you want prime aged beef they have it. No need to go to specialty shops or international shops - they have a huge selection. Produce, seafood, coffee, all good. I wish more people would come check it out.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Awesome selection. Bought a large variety of ethnic Spanish foods that I have not seen since I moved to New York. Very happy with our shopping trip today.

M P.

Yelp
I have given this place so many chances, and for me it doesn't get any better. Something is always off. I bought chocolate fudge and whipped cream to make sundaes, and when I opened the chocolate fudge it had mold. When I opened the whipped cream it tasted sour. I always wonder if the store is too big for the amount of volume/sales they get.

Seri E.

Yelp
I had the worst customer experience of my life at the Red Hook Food Bazaar. Rude horrible cashier. I will never return to a Food Bazaar and I will spread the word on this horribly upsetting experience.
google avatar

Nadia A.

Yelp
Stopped by this location as a last resort for some Thanksgiving dinner shopping. I was able to easily find vegetables in the produce section that I couldn't find elsewhere and the staff was generally very helpful and good at keeping things well stocked. It's a bit far from my usual spot but will be back!

Isaac K.

Yelp
It's really sad and depressing to see what happened to this place. Unfortunately this once crown jewel location of Fairway is no more. Initially after Fairway left, food bazaar simply took it over and kept the place nearly exactly the same which was awesome. However, I stopped in there recently and after observing that there was barely a customer there, it became painfully obvious as to why. For starters, the (formerly glorious) food court had only minimal food options and none of them looked edible, in fact they had the appearance of food served in hospital commissary or school cafeteria. Not even close to the quality and variety of what was previously offered. It's shameful that the new management has the audacity to serve lukewarm soup, dried out mac & cheese and a few other pathetic sorry looking dishes. Additionally the back patio on the water facing the harbor is now unkempt and derelict which is a real shame. The current management obviously does not realize that this was the reason so many people came here to shop including myself. The once incredible pizza has been replaced with what can only be described as mall quality pizza and the sushi counter is nearly as pathetic. While the former staff took pride in what they did, the current staff seems indifferent and appear to be there just there to collect a paycheck. The expression "all good things come to an end" has never been more prevalent. The store appears to be currently being renovated and converted into a bargain basement supermarket which may have some appeal to local residents seeking low cost options. If you were a patron of the former Fairway that used to occupy this location, this place will definitely not be for you. Best to check out Wegman's or the nearest Whole Foods market. All the charm and appeal that this place once had is slowly being stripped away by new management who likely think they know better. However on a positive note, the place was clean plus the overall pricing seemed affordable and generally this may be a somewhat viable option for the local population as there are no other decent supermarkets nearby. All in all this is not the destination it once was and I question whether their new strictly budget conscious business model is sustainable. I really do not not see this place lasting more than a year or so but hope to be proven wrong. While we mourn the demise of Fairway, we ought to wish the best for this "food bazaar" before they too fade into history.

Heshie B.

Yelp
Coffee selection is great but I miss the selection Fairway had. Overalls great shopping experience. The coffee is what originally got me shopping there.

Leibish R.

Yelp
Thank you Food Bazaar, for finally having the Coffee Kosher certified again! #Gotta give a shout out to Richie, New York's King of coffee! Keep it going Richie!

Yelp
I enjoy coming here after going to ikea. Nothing much has changed since they transitioned from Fairway. I love their seafood and meat department. Everything is laid out nice and neat. My secret weapon is Paul from the meat department, he has been assisting me since the Fairway days. Have a huge dinner party, ask for Paul! He is very patient and friendly. Also please try their fresh bagels, I believe a mixed bag was 8 for $2.99. You will thank me later!

Steven K.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with my experience today. I bought several items and requested a senior discount from the cashier. She rang up the sale. When I looked at the register it indicated $0.00 as my discount. I pointed this out to the cashier who said that there was no discount applied to sale items. I said this was not posted anywhere. I said that while a had some items that were on sale there were others that were not on sale, like the skirt steak that cost $19.99 a pound. She called her supervisor over. The supervisor was informed of my complaint and called the store manager. She informed me that all the manager said that all items I purchased were sale items. They were not subject to a senior discount. I said that that was not true. The cashier asked payment for the original cost I the items. I said I would not be ripoff and unloaded my bags of the food items. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this store. Fortunately, there are other supermarkets to choose from that value their customers more than Food Bazaar. I will not be patronizing this store any longer.

A R.

Yelp
Was so sad when I heard Fairway was bankrupt and thought this great Red Hook location would go away. So happy they were taken over by Food Bazaar. Still have a great selection of organic produce, meat and staples at great prices. They have bulk bins, a wide range of "ethnic" cooking ingredients I can't find in my neighborhood, excellent fish, and the best selection of cheese and smoked fish in Brooklyn. They have all the basics and a good selection of personal care products, too. And I love supporting home-grown local companies instead of international empires.

Yelp
I have been shopping here since it was Fairway and the store has improved in it's pricing and selection but it still has a long way to go. The produce is sometimes awful. I brought home brussel sprouts yesterday and was surprised at the number I had to toss because they were not fresh. I have seen apples and onions that should not have been on display as they were so old. They really need to do a better job at discarding old produce. The meat selection is fine although as with most stores you have to check the dates. The bakery is nice also. The restrooms are quite dirty. They did something very strange. The turned the Men's room into the Ladie's Room. They put plastic bags over the urinals and left 2 stalls. I really hope they will work on improving this because every once in a while customers will need to use the bathrooms. The deli is well stocked and the selection is good. The staff is always nice from the people stocking the food to the cashiers. The outdoor eating area is very nice as it has a gorgeous view of the Statue Of Liberty. The outdoor grill is a nice addition during the summer. All in all, we do enjoy shopping there. We are always able to get a variety of international foods. I just hope they will make a few improvements in their quality control. They have a great points program and occasionally give out nice freebies to their customers.

Yelp
We have been a regular customer since Fairway has been open (probably since 2005). The pricing ever since it changed to Food Bazaar is better. More reasonable than Fairways pricing. Our family comes down here every weekend for the cafe because the view of the pier is amazing, very different from other grocery stores you go to. It's great to see the same staffs from when Fairway was opened. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to past Fairway customers and others. Though yes, their coupons and reward system has diminished but their prices are extremely fair.

Yelp
Love the diverse selection and fresh products! Location is easily accessible and I'm always confident the items, especially the daily produce, will be good quality.

Yelp
In 2005/2006 Fairway market opened at this location (Red Hook) owned and operated privately. It was a great value add to the neighborhood. They took pride in the products they stocked and their customers and their cafe was a charm. There is an art to expansion and unfortunately when this store went public the quality went down to an extent to bankruptcy. Food Bazaar is not a match I've been in there and don't recommend. I recommend going the distance to Wegmans at the Bklyn Navy Yard or Whole Foods. They will have what you need from produce, seafood to specialty items. Wrong fit for this location. Sad to see the original owners of fairway go, but they were in business since 1933.

Yelp
Blimey, what a change from Fairway! Meat counter is full of cheap cuts of meat, no decent Prime in sight, the fish counter looks just sad and expensive and the grocery selection is diminishing. Best things are the coffee and the fruit and veg but I'm not going to lose my Park Slope parking spot for just that. Place looks dirty too, all the corners are dusty and no care is taken in the chore of doing the job or the managers managing the job. Gave it 2 stars because of the coffee.

Yelp
This place does not replace Fairway. The employees look miserable and customer service is horrible. I tried to return a product that was bad and they did not accept the return. Michelle in customer service was very rude and condescending. Not a good look for a new business. They should strive to make their new and continuing Fairway customers happy. It's too bad...

Yelp
Not as good as fairway used to be. Less choices of organic produce and overall products. New Managers don't really care, I complained cause out of domestic garlic (they only had China garlic which is grown with sewage water!), and all they answered was 'we will tell corporate'
