The food-obsessed in me wants everyone to know that this place has it all - the largest selection of everything from local and fresh produce, basic groceries, organic products... There's a room dedicated to olive oil and another to coffee. In the summer, the lobster roll ($10) is a treat, enjoyed in their back patio with killer views of the the building it's housed in, a vintage Red Hook trolley, and NY Bay." - Michael Ciancio
"Beyond being one of the more perfect independent grocery stores around, Fairway is the perfect New York cross section: You'll see young families, old ladies in fur coats, students looking for good food at good prices, and just about every New York "type" you can think of. Beyond the cultural experience, the Red Hook branch in particular boasts the square footage, plus a frozen-foods department you can actually walk into (there are jackets you can borrow to go in), an amazing cheese selection, and a free parking lot. "This 52,000-square-foot supermarket in Red Hook, Brooklyn was one of four stores Amazon placed bids on during the grocery chain’s bankruptcy auction in late January. Insiders suggest Amazon is a likely winner for the property, but the company has not specified its plans — potential uses include a distribution center, a Whole Foods conversion, or an Amazon Go concept.
