Great place, phenomenal food, generous portions. My dish was a lot prettier before I sank my fork into it, lol! My hubby pretty well demolished his bbq chicken (which he says is the best he’s had in years), mac n cheese, and collards before I could snap a good photo. Thank you for awesome conversation, and all the yum 🙏🥰

Ordered a plate on grub hub. Food arrived hot but it was incredibly under seasoned. The mac and cheese was dry. Cant say I would eat here again

Food for the soul, but not for the arteries. I was in the mood for soul food; never tried this place before. I had it delivered, so, I can't speak to the physical location or the behavior of the staff. But, I ordered the meatloaf with beef gravy, collard greens, and baked mac and cheese. What I got was salt loaf with with salt gravy, salt greens, and salted mac and cheese. I'm disappointed. I wanted to like this. I tried to like this. But I can't enjoy the food because it got salted to death. As it's my first time, I don't know if they're always this salty or if this order was an accident. My advice to them is to watch their sodium levels, and to patrons, to visit them in person and ask for a sample before ordering

The owner is great. Super friendly and good home cooked food. I like eating there after church on Sundays.

Follow your nose! Wings, 1/2 chickens, collards, Mac & Cheese, etc. It's not a fancy restaurant, but it is clean & full of love. Give these good people your $$$!!!

Update- 2023 Food is dry! No flavor! Mash potatoes dry- corn flavorless and over cooked- tastes like over cooked canned corn. Beef ribs! Dry and no flavor. Waste of 30.00 dollars. Plus you have to either double park or keep looking over your shoulders to Ensure you don’t get a ticket. ATP just cook at home! Amazing, I love soul food. I went a few years ago and was turned off at how much garlic they put in everything! It was awful! However I decided to give it a try again! I originally went for the smothered chicken however they were out (they didn’t make a lot of food that day giving it was Xmas eve) so I decided to get the beef ribs(yes beef ribs- so hard to come by considering I’m not a pork eater) It was amazing! 10star! I got white rice and gravy and corn! Everything was well seasoned and delicious the ribs were tender and flavored to the bone. It was so good I decided to go back two days later! They staff seem to be from the neighborhood which is a plus! Super friendly and kinda catered to me and my two year old and the owner saved me from getting a ticket! I was super grateful for the experience and even more happy this restaurant is walking distance. *I would like for you guys to be more consistent with grub hub and Uber eats* ❤️ Happy New Years and may god bless your restaurant and staff.

I am tourist from dc so I know soul food Food horrible went for chicken wings they didn’t even have enough only 5 wings and they tasted like cooking oil asked for turkey wings gravy was horrible turkey wing was dry the food is horrible jerk chicken tasted more like burnt chicken will never return wasted 2hr of driving for nothing

Food was not good. The collard greens taste like they had dirt on them and needed washing and soaked in water because I am a collard greens woman and I know how to cook them very well. The chicken was mediocre. The mac & cheese had a taste that was out of this world meaning, not good. It taste like they put lemon or lime and vinegar in this macaroni and cheese, I do not recommend this Restaurant to anyone but their beef short ribs look delicious. But looks can be deceiving and actually looks better than it taste.

Food here is bomb. Only thing i wasn't a big fan of was the salmon/catfish. When i got it, it just wasn't worth it. But everything else i got is amazing. The sweet tea. The mac n cheese. The chicken. The steak. The food is made with love and made my black ppl so you know it's good. Come here if you wanna eat good! **just came back and had the brisket! AMAZING

So.. I heard great things about this place from friends & family, so I decided to check them out. Long story short, it took 45 mins to get two orders and while I waited, I had to hear what sounds like a conversation that should have took place when customers were not around. I did not expect to have burnt eggs and over cooked sausage & eggs. Not sure if they were cooked too long or if the grill just needed to be cleaned better. I will try them again b/c I really like to support black owned businesses. Hoping for faster service and better food next time.

Less than a half hour ago I placed an order thru Grubhub and guess what???? ITS CANCELLED! And this is the 3rd time my order was cancelled! Now not too long ago I was passing thru and decided to stop in. I spoke with the gentleman who was cooking and he said he was the owner. I told how my order keep getting cancelled and sometimes right when the delivery guy is there to pick up! Not even a phone call asking to substitute for something I ordered that they may no longer have. How can you have a restaurant and don't have the food available to sell. I feel the demand is to great for them to supply. I always do my best to support black businesses however I'm getting more and more disappointed! I will no longer be placing orders from Food For the Soul! And now I have to wait for my money to get back in my account.

my wife's chicken was not cooked at all. she had to put it in thenoven where it began to bleed because it was still raw. the Steak tips I ordered were old and had no flavor, the rice was undercooked. the collard greens tasted old, and the mac and cheese was bland. will never order from there again

I have never had a bad meal here. I can't eat pork so I am very happy I can get beef ribs here that are juicy and succulent. The service leaves much to be desired, however. A lesson in customer service would serve them well.

Very bad customer service. As soon as you place an order they immediately cancel it and tell you everything is sold out. I've even ordered as soon as they opened and they'd call me and say everything was sold out...how? Seems like the people here do not know how/do not want to properly run a business.

What is this magic? Best brisket i have ever had. 8 kinds of wings, all fantastic. Sides amazing. Family restaurant, food served with love. Ok sometimes it's going to be closed when you want it to be open. Sometimes the owner is going to distracted. There will be children and cousins, and music, and the food will be the best you ever had, so deal.

The mac n cheese wasn't good to me at all, the mashed potatoes weren't that great neither; that alone is why I can't give this spot more than 2 stars, because those are my 2 favorite side dishes. The beef ribs were cooked nice, but I didn't like that heavy sweet BBQ sauce that they were cooked in. Customer service was...meh, good enough I guess, but I don't see myself trying anything else here.

The reviews about the taste of the food seemed good and I was being lazy and ordered through DoorDash. Placed my order and the driver gets there and there's someone in the back but a sign on the door saying come back at 3. my order had to be cancelled of course but its just unprofessional. idk who's running this place but DO BETTER!! We dont have much soul food in boston.

Nothing negative to say, but I went by this place on 2/3/2018 and it was CLOSED, although the Yelp app said it was open. Can we be a little more reliable...........it's Closed. Not as in for the Pats game tomorrow, but Closed as in out of business.

The wonderful smells greet you when you walk in, and the food is fantastic! Wings, ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens - all just the way I want it. High recommend a visit to check it out.

This review is not of the food at Food for the Soul - because we didn't even get to sample the food - but of the lack of professionalism that is associated with this place. I placed an order for a work event that was to be catered by Food for the Soul. I was asked to pay for a deposit for the order and I obliged. The day of the event, I called the restaurant numerous times and even went to the restaurant, and to my surprise and disbelief, the restaurant was CLOSED and the phone number was disconnected. There was no way to get in touch with them, they already had the money for my order, and I was left to explain to my boss why our work event (happening in a couple hours) was not going to be catered! This could have cost me my job. Fast forward to couple hours later, I finally was able to get in touch with someone at the restaurant, and when I asked them about my order, he simply replied "We forgot". Unacceptable! I did get my money back - thankfully! The whole experience was very unprofessional and disappointing. I wanted so badly to support a local business, but the way it's being run, I will definitely take my business somewhere else.
