15 NYC Bars To Watch Women’s Soccer This Summer | Eater

"If you’re looking for other women’s soccer fans, check out Football Factory. Legends has vowed to be “a hotspot for the tournament” with as-yet unrevealed events and activities. That’s not exactly new, as this venue is one of the first names in NYC soccer. Thirty different supporters clubs call this place home, and the sport gets its own section of the place just to keep a semblance of functionality during matches. Definitely come hungry: plenty of sports bars will load up your nachos, but very few offer a honey lime chicken with avocado and slaw on a baguette." - Brendan McGinley

I have been here several times when visiting NY. The service is always friendly and efficient. I have sat on all 3 levels, every time at the bar. The food will not blow you away, but it's always consistently good. I usually arrive in the morning for football matches and enjoy the English breakfast. The main level is fine with plenty of televisions. While the upstairs is small and probably used for big matches and games to accommodate the crowd. I watched a Champions League match featuring Liverpool upstairs, and the place was packed, including the third level I was on. Do yourself a favor and head downstairs when it's open. The true football watching experience lies down here. Multiple matches and sounds abound around the room. Place your scarf high above your head as you descend the stairs and be met with cheers or boos. A truly good time.

Google
Great place to watch the footy. Get there early if its a big game though as does get busy - even for a 11am kick off that I watched. Breakfast was nice

Don’t think it twice. This is the best bar food in the planet. The Irish Onion Soup is outstanding 🫨

Google
Good place to watch futbol games. Good service from the bartenders.

Google
If you are in NYC this is one of the best bars to watch soccer at. Numerous amounts of TVs, 3 levels, food is good, and always great soccer energy. If you are trying to watch popular matches like Real Madrid vs Barcelona or popular World Cup matches try to arrive an hour earlier.

Thom Cordeiro

Google
My favorite bar in NYC. The best place to watch any sporting event, but their commitment to English football is next level. The owner Enda is the best, really makes you feel like a member of his own family. Highly recommend, can’t wait to go back!

Google
I love football, so i love this bar! They pass football games of all teams and countries. When i artived in New York, i took a few time to find this bar to watch my team. So, if love football (soccer for americans), you will really like this bar!

Aaron Smith

Google
A sports bar with only one show on, soccer. The bartender was terrible and didnt even acknowledge us.

Yelp
Fun place to hang out. We have had 3 holiday parties there. Always had a great time. The owner is a great guy !

Yelp
Nice location . Very busy 33rd street and this one was right opposite to Empire State Building . Was crowded and a good soccer / sports bar . Hardly any space in the bar. Service was toooooo slow . Had to sit on the far end and no one came servicing that side . They had good options for beer and IPAs. Beer was about 10-12$ . Was a bit pricey but ok for an office party or friend's get-together. Food was pricey too. Ambience was good . gave a sporty look . Was very loud though .. good experience but service could be better . 3 stars .

Yelp
I came by on Saturday for UFC. I sat at the bar & Emmett (bartender) was not nice at all, I had to ask him for water a 2nd time after he forgot the first time, he looked bothered when I asked him for it. I ordered wings and a Cesar salad, the salad was spoiled but I had to pull a server to the side to try it & confirm. She immediately spit it out & asked me what would I like instead, I said a chicken quesadilla. When she communicated to Emmett he had to audacity to tell me "why didn't you tell me" not an apology or acknowledgment of the salad being spoiled. I then said "because you were busy & you have not been friendly. He walked away. I payed a $20 dollar fee to come in, I was in & out in less than 1h. Bad experience & poor service. Wings were very yummy though.

Yelp
Came to grab drinks before a dinner reservation. Our server was quick with our drink order. Legends is a sports bar with tvs all around and a lower and upper level. It filled up quickly as there were many games going on, on Saturday when we visited. They make a great (& strong) espresso martini

Yelp
Just wanted to thank the staff for making the experience enjoyable. We wanted to watch Napoli soccer game and I had my son with me. They managed to get the game upstairs since downstairs is adults only. Thanks again for great food and drink. Really appreciate it. Thank you.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun place to watch a sports game! They have two main floors with several tvs streaming different games as well as a balcony third floor for crowd overflow. There are multiple bars in addition to the long main bar so even when it's packed, it's pretty quick to get a drink. The food is ok bar food. The staff keeps up with the crowd and the line can back up outside the bar but moves fast.

Yelp
Legends is a fantastic sports bar. I like the atmosphere. It always appears to be lively and fun. But it could be because I usually come here to watch a sporting event, and everyone is pumped up! Overall, excellent service and a friendly staff. I'm not a huge fan of the food, but the chicken wings are pretty good. Overall, 3 stars almost 4.

Emma W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for watching Gotham and good food/drinks. There's plenty of space inside as well so it doesn't feel too crowded even with larger groups

Amy M.

Yelp
The place itself is nice and the food was good. Jalapeño poppers were great and chicken fingers meh. But, $6 for a glass of iced tea and charged for refills is absurd! We both had 2 glasses and it was $24 for tea....make it $34 after tax, automatic gratuity and credit card fee.
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
Wings were fantastic as well as the burger! Place is huge but I imagine it gets packed for sporting events
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
The food here, especially the appetizers tasted like it came out of a box from Costco. Nothing special... waiter was also too busy talking to all the women.
google avatar

Ju J.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday night to catch the next games with my boys. Huge space very spacious your typical sports bar TVs all around, so they got you covered on every angle, I promise. Food was great, the wings were not crispy, but it was the soft fully cooked that I forgot I loved. Definitely very flavorful. Sliders were nice and meaty not fake burger nonsense and the spinach artichoke dip was so light and creamy not salty. Adore the fact that they gave you non-bread instead of chips, it was absolute perfection. PSA to the tipsy girl!!! WATCH UOUR STEP IN THE BATHROOM!!! The one thing I most hated was the random ledge, sticking out in front of the sinks in the female restroom. Walked out the stall as approaching the sink I immediately slam my toes into the ledge. That is a slight distance out from you, extending your hands over. Needless to say, I shouted as my toes were throbbing in pain. Sorry managers this was the dumbest idea I've ever seen in a bathroom I don't even understand the purpose of it. You don't even keep extra TP or cleaning products underneath, so why is it there. Otherwise bar is great. See you soon.

Yelp
Food was great- fish and chips at an english pub can do no wrong Vibes were there - downstairs area has the main premier league matches and passionate fans Service was good - the hispanic lady was great but the others were not as amicable
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to watch your team!! The Oregon Duck Club of NYC meets here for events. Great atmosphere and good pub food. They also host LSU fans and several soccer teams. The staff does a great job even when it gets really busy!!

Yelp
Went here for post-game drinks a few years in a row. Year one it was overcrowded and half the "restaurant area?" was closed, even though plenty of people would have liked to sit there. Fine. Year two my group was 80% of the people there. 1. Bouncer was an ass when people were coming in, saying "get the fuck out if you're not here to drink". Ok, fine, you want us to buy alcohol, that what we came here to do, we'll come in. 2. Entirety of the restaurant? area was closed, so most people had to go up and back to get a seat. Someone in our group didn't realize that area was closed (it's not clearly marked and is half the entire space) and tried to sit down. Bouncer manhandled her out instead of using his words, so we're never going back. tldr; lacks available seating and they'll manhandle you for trying to sit in a chair

Jude T.

Yelp
Relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Warm wooden sports bar setting. Big space. Extremely friendly bartenders and good drinks.

Yelp
Went here as a work social. Had the best Long Beach I've ever had surprisingly. Waiters were attention and fun. Burger tasted good as well. Def recommend

Yelp
Shout out to Erin , who absolutely crushed Sat night and the final four game w UConn. She was incredible. Kind, patient, dedicated, funny! Liam - I hope you see this. I flew in from CA to watch the game w my brother (we grew up in CT). Erin made tonight possible, and for that, we are thankful

Juan V.

Yelp
Unless you show up 3 hours before the game starts, you're not going to get a seat. $20 to get in and all you get is a $5 beer. Way too busy and they just keep letting people in with no regard for the fact that's it's overcrowded. Go anywhere else, this place sucks
google avatar

Jarrod W.

Yelp
Food, beer, and service were excellent. We came in and sat at the bar to watch a football game.

Yelp
Great place for soccer fans in the city They telecast all the EPL and champions league games , have a good variety of pub drinks and also they have good brunch , lunch and dinner options Good for a get together or great for enjoying a soccer game with friends P.S united fans will have a blast here
google avatar

Yelp
- decent service, Altho they do forget to bring out your drink order on busy nights - they charge 20% gratuity - three floors showing a wide variety of games - they show wwe wrestling events - loaded tots were good, they do use a lot of cheese They could use more tots - tacos were alright - wings were moist, succulent, flavorful, and meat glided off the bone
google avatar

Yelp
Came in here to watch an F1 race after another location was too crowded. Legends didn't fill up until after the race started, but if you want a seat at the bar I recommend coming in early. There was a lot of seating and TV's pretty much everywhere. Service was good at the bar (we just had drinks) and the atmosphere for the race was fun. Definitely a sports bar but has a nice old vibe with lots of ornate woodwork above the long bar. Feels kind of Cheers-esque and nostalgic. I'd come back to watch a race if I had the opportunity again.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! I highly suggest getting a burger, Calamari, or the sweet Thai chili wings!

Heloisa R.

Yelp
I love the place but the security guard was an asshole. He refused let myself and a girlfriend of mine in using the excuse the place was packed and let other ppl in even tho the place was "packed " He was xenophobic and no friendly at all . So lame , unfortunately , the place was my number 1 recommendation for sports bar now not even my opinion at all !
google avatar

Sadie V.

Yelp
Emmet was awesome, he made me a spiked hot chocolate perfect for the fall weather. A great bar can't wait to come back and try the food!

Yelp
In terms of its identity, Legends is a relatively standard Irish sports bar. However, there are a couple things that set it apart from the others. For one, it is huge. This place can easily accommodate a huge group in the first floor space alone, and it evens have a second floor too. Secondly, you will find TVs everywhere with each one dedicated to any kind of sport here: NBA, basketball, baseball, college basketball, NFL, college football, etc. They even show international soccer games like Premier League and La Liga. Other places will usually be missing some sports - not so at Legends. Food and drinks are average priced too, which is not bad for a place right next to the Empire State Building.
google avatar

Ilana Z.

Yelp
Decent bar to watch premier league games at. Downstairs got super crowded for the Chelsea game. There were tons of people standing. In the little alcove area behind the flags they were showing another Italian game, with only one other Tv showing the Chelsea game in that section. I have not tried the food so can't comment on that
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
First time at this location I think the atmosphere is very lively - we came for WWE EVENT and it was a great start it was empty downstairs when we first entered but once closer to the event starting we ordered food and drinks for these events sitting at a table they have to hold your credit card which is understandable, I didn't see the waitress again for the rest of the night besides when we ordered our first drinks and entrees so not as attentive. As much fun as we have and decent quality food and drinks as well as atmosphere there is a downfall and that is the BATHROOM!! I saw men in the woman's bathroom & also THE LOCKS DO NOT LOCK ; violation of privacy definitely ruined the mood. Would come back hopefully for a better experience since this place is really good vibes, just lacking in some parts.

Jackie A.

Yelp
service was ok. wanted to play it safe so i got the chicken tenders because i didn't think you could f* chicken tenders up. i learned you indeed can. fries were flavorless
google avatar

Emilia R.

Yelp
The food here is pretty awful. I got the steak panini which was ultra chewy and tough and my father got the buff chicken sliders, which were basically chicken nuggets on a bun. The fries tasted not fresh. The woman's restroom didn't have a seat on the toilet. I'm giving three stars bc the waiter and wait staff was really nice and attentive. This place is a tourist trap for over priced food.
google avatar

Keilon L.

Yelp
I come here strictly because I am officially a member of the PSG NY fan club and I really enjoy the atmosphere during the games with not only my teams fans but also the other various groups official or otherwise whom also gather here on weekends and during the week on middays. Definitely come if you're a football (soccer) fan and hangout in the basement. As for the restaurant, meh. The food always leaves something to be desired. I've stopped ordering unless it's a plate of fries to wash down all the beers I'm drinking during the matches or if I come for the earlier matches and miss breakfast I'll get a light appetizer so I don't end up face down in the street as I head to another restaurant/bar in search of food that actually tastes like something. The serving staff and bartenders seem to be a bit nicer or less nonchalant upstairs but I can understand the ones downstairs being a little off put at times by the large crowds and screaming fans downstairs so I won't really complain. In conclusion, come for a great atmosphere of beer and sports...that's it.
google avatar

Sherry J.

Yelp
- Two floors - Much brighter upstairs than the basement (low ceilings, dim) - TVs everywhere - Not fan of the food at all, even for bar food - The tater tots were really big - I will say the upside is it's very spacious. There's a lot of tables on both floors (both regular and high tops). - If you want to watch a game with a large group then this would be a good place - However IMO, better sports bars out there
google avatar

Yelp
Legends is not really a pub, it is a soccer game viewing location that serves beer and food. If you want to see a game live, especially some of the harder to find Champions or Europa league games, Legends is a great spot. I am not the biggest fan of being relegated to the basement when the game I came for is broadcasted down there. It is cramped and a little claustrophobic for my tastes. The service is ok, not great but not bad either. The food is basic pub food, pretty straight down the middle of the fairway.

Marie M.

Yelp
I LOVE Legend's, especially for LSU games. I will always come here. However, they should really stop selling gumbo. There's tomato in it. They served it on a plate and gave me a fork and knife to eat it with. It almost made me cry. The staff is wonderful. The regular menu food is good. I love everything....except for that "gumbo".

Aaron M.

Yelp
My friends and I paid the $20 cover charge to watch the Lopez V. Taylor fight, and they were charging because they were also showing the UFC PPV. Fine. Although the feed cut out and we missed 2 rounds. All I wanted and expected was some beer in a clean glass, This place is truly terrible; a joke of a tourist trap. As another reviewer noted "obnoxious attitude and overpriced." If they don't want to be polite to paying customers, that is on them. I had low expectations, and they failed! We cashed in our tokens for a free drink and were served in plastic. When we politely asked about glasses the waitress told us they were only serving tables in plastic cups; then walked away without saying sorry or offering to get the manager. This was seemingly not true because the guy to my left and a full table next to us had glasses. They also did not offer to bring us glasses for our next round, and the place was not full. Nobody apologized for this at all! The manager (Keith, I believe) spoke to us in a condescending tone, rather than simply bringing us glasses, or a refund, and implied that we should leave if we did not like it which we did, and we will not be back! Oddly the bouncer was the only one with a modicum of respect. There are many better bars to spend your hard earned cash at. I hope this overpriced dump goes out of business!
google avatar

Yelp
Good space, good size TVs and that's about where it ends. The food is mediocre at best and that's honestly ok for a midtown sports bar, but they do mobile ordering and our waitress was straight up rude, for no reason! She yelled at us simply for asking about a beer that wasn't delivered 25 min after order (and other items had already been ordered) and made us feel majorly uncomfortable. Then proceeded to slam our beers on the table whenever we ordered. Probably just a bad day, but no reason to take it out on customers.
google avatar

Yelp
We brought a group of 30 LSU fans to watch a game on the eve of a family wedding. With minimal notice, we arranged with the catering department to have a selection of platters served (don't miss the excellent sliders!), and our new best friend, manager Enda arranged us an area for our group to mingle, with a low table that the little flower girls could access easily. The food and bar tabs were managed smoothly for the group's host. We laughed, we cried, we cheered, we danced and sang. Thanks for monitoring vax cards and I.d.'s carefully at the door to help us gather safely!

Geoffrey S.

Yelp
I went here about two weeks ago to watch an English Premier League game. It was possibly one of the worst restaurant/bar experiences I've ever had. 1. Right from the beginning, the stream they were using for the game was really poor quality. It was fuzzy, pixelated, and unenjoyable. I know for a fact that Peacock (where EPL streams) is higher quality than what we saw because I watch it frequently at home. In addition to the stream quality, the tvs also just are not great quality. They seem to be old- the one nearest us was obviously very broken and discolored, to the point it was hardly visible. We asked if it could be fixed, someone said they'd look into it, and it was never foxed nor were we told it couldn't be fixed. 2. We ordered the $12 "tower of tots". One member of our group cannot eat pork, so we did not order the additional $3 bacon topping. To our surprise, it came with the bacon. When bringing it up with our waitress, she told us "thats how it comes", to which I asked why the menu presented as such with a $12 option for no toppings. She went off, taking the tots with bacon, and we were later given the tots with a weak apology. They weren't very pleasant to eat. 3. The stream got worse as we stayed. It frequently paused, sometimes for a minute or so at a time. There was never an apology from any of the staff. We specifically came here for the game. We would have had 300% more of an enjoyable experience watching the game at home instead of attempting to follow along to their really poor stream. At one point the basement bar also seemed to be ahead by a minute or so because you'd hear them all cheer following a goal, and then we'd watch the goal on our lagged tvs upstairs a minute later. That ruined the experience for us. 4. After a long while waiting to pay, we were presented the bill. There were two unlabeled charges on our bill, one for $10 and one for $11. Had we not brought them up with our waitress, we would have had $21 in inaccurate charges. We brought this up with the waitress and she wasn't sure how they got there. The $21 was refunded. 5. The food's just not good and is overpriced. Other soccer bars I've been to have had also meh quality food, but at least slightly better prices.

David W.

Yelp
The last time I was here I was punched in the back of the head by one of their obnoxious bouncers on the way in because, apparently, I was rude to him. He knocked me out. Once I came round I took out my phone and proceeded to call 911 for an ambulance. At that point, the manager Jack Keane, with the support of the owner Enda, told me not to complete the call or they would have me taken down to the East River and I would never be seen again. Charming people! I didn't let these wannabe gangstars intimidate me so I did complete the call. Smithfield Hall is a far superior soccer bar in midtown with dozens of hi-tech screens. Legends is merely a tourist trap basement bar - in every sense of the word.

Ellen C.

Yelp
If you have any food allergies, beware! I ended up in the emergency room after sampling a pesto dish here that contained peanuts. I did inform our waiter of my allergy before ordering and he said he would notify the chef. The menu in the restaurant did not make any mention of the pesto containing peanuts as usually pesto is made with pine nuts (which I am able to eat). I felt sick soon after tasting the food and left the restaurant so I could go throw up in the privacy of my hotel room. I went online to view the menu again, certain that I must have eaten something bad, and there it was, the last ingredient - peanuts! I spent the night in the ER (not exactly my idea of a fun NYC vacation). I followed up with the manager, suggesting he either clearly indicate on the menu any known allergens or remove the dish entirely. He said he would talk to the chef and follow up with me. When I called back, I was told he had "gone on vacation". Avoid this restaurant if you value your health!

Yelp
Come to this bar for the drinks and service, not the food. Bartender was great, made solid drinks (whiskey+ginger and vodka+soda). The food was subpar. The Buffalo chicken sliders were more of chicken burgers than a chicken breast which tasted suspect and need ample amounts of ranch to drown. The nachos were decent, although the cheese tasted like old ballpark cheese. Gave the 3 because of how great the employees and drinks were.

Yelp
Google best place to watch the Yankees Game in Manhattan and this place pops up #1. Unfortunately it's not worthy of such recognition. Let's start with the food, it reminded of my mom cooking for my diabetic dad, seasoning is a myth in this kitchen. Then in the middle of the Yankees game it is switched because of som other sporting event that no one was interested in. A PPV boxing match that the headliner match would be hours after the game finished. But although the manager came to explain it did not matter, no empathy even though the majority of the paying people around the screen were watching the game. One waitress was great a Venezuelan friendly person, not the host. But as she said she does not make the rules.
google avatar

Stef C.

Yelp
Fun environment! A home for soccer fans of all nations. Typical bar menu, but very nicely made entrees. Good variety of beer, and the cocktails don't disappoint.
google avatar

Crystal M.

Yelp
Place was very nice and it was huge. Came with a group after going to Rose Mansion and walking by and was greeted by a host and invited us in. We wanted some good bar food and they did not disappoint. We ordered wings, mozzarella sticks, burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries. Everything was pretty good. I wished the fries and mozzarella sticks were a little hotter. They came just over warm but the food was good.

Yelp
If you're an LSU fan, this is a must! Fun bar atmosphere that has great quality restaurant food.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
A good sports bar is hard to find. Usually it's hard to get a seat with a good view of the TV or the food and service are terrible. That is not a problem at Legends NYC! I spent playoff Sunday (1/16) there with my gf and 2 friends. We all had so much fun there and owner Liam and GM Roy are rockstars, they truly care about the customer experience. This place should be everyone's go to for sports watching or even for evening drinks with friends.

Hailey M.

Yelp
$110 for 4 cocktails and 2 beers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! the place is absolutely gorgeous, decorated to the nines for the holidays, but $14 for a half ounce shot of jameson is just outrageous... especially when you have to chase the waitress down when it's not even busy. god this city has become such a dump.
google avatar

Dorian L.

Yelp
Great place, lots of room and plenty of TVs for a sporting event. The dimmed lights give it a good ambiance for nights to hang out and talk. A server by the name of Raquel recommended the frijoles to me. Best decision I've made in a while. If you're hungry, I suggest you give it a try. PS. First restaurant menu I've seen with Irish Onion Soup. Good stuff.
