"First impressions are important. That’s why you’re going to hide your Avengers tattoo for at least the first three years of this potential relationship. But honestly, it’s pretty hard to make a bad first impression at Hackney’s Footnote. We’re talking huge windows, foliage, blackboards, a picturesque wine-coloured front, and excellent coffee. If you’re looking to step things up, they have top brunch classics on offer. Did we mention the excellent coffee?" - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Rianne Shlebak

"With its huge windows, spacious Wilton Way coffee spot Footnote feels very bright and public. It’s the perfect kind of place to meet for a low-key coffee date with a person you’ve never met before, and if things go well you can hang around for brunch which runs from familiar options like avocado on toast, through to less common but equally tasty pico de gallo on sourdough." - Oliver Feldman

Cozy place to enjoy some brunch and the morning sun. The coffee is decent. Healthy menu. Footnote during the week is way more relaxed and pleasant than during the weekend, mainly because of the staff and availability of dishes. In the week you are served by the owner and her dog. In the weekend you may be served by unfriendly waitresses.

Very nice and friendly staff and the interior was super nice with all the plants and art. The bagels were good but the bread slightly dry. The iced chai latte was delicious! Even though it’s a great space to work, there is no wifi so something to keep in mind.

This cute little place is just down the road from pidgin. It's gets quite busy in the mornings so larger groups had to wait. The coffee was really great but the breakfast menu was great. It was mainly veg with a couple fish dishes. I had the smoked mackerel which was insane. The potato cake underneath was out of this world.

I almost never write reviews, so me making an effort means that this place is truly special :) I have been there twice and every time the food was absolutely delicious, staff was friendly and juices nice and refreshing. I can also strongly recommend the coffee! Go, visit- you won't regret it. Congrats to the cook- you make the dishes look beautiful and soooo tasty. Absolutely love this place.

Friendly staff and a great selection of healthy brunch with creative vegetarian and vegan options. Also a great place to grab an ice cream for dessert or to take away, the pistachio is delicious.

Delicious food and really nice staff. Absolutely love the decor. Anything poached eggs on the menu is a great choice. The fresh juices are also amazing. Will be back!

Found on google- surely the best place for breakfast or brunch in Hackney central. 10/10 for food, coffee, service and atmosphere.
