Wonderful Wine Bars in Seattle

"Lots of bars and restaurants around town serve wine on tap, but no other place has embraced the concept with the enthusiasm of Capitol Hill’s Footprint, which has nearly 20 draft wines. Per the shop’s name, owner Ken Dillon is interested in lowering the carbon footprint of wine by prioritizing bulk packaging over bottles, which also means this is the rare place you can fill growlers of wine — mostly from regional producers who follow other sustainable practices as well." - Eater Staff

Footprint Wine Tap - Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Judging from the taps behind the bar, it’s clear that Footprint used to be a growler store. Now, these taps are all full of wine, and it’s the perfect lowkey weeknight place to hang out if you’re genuinely interested in viticulture (we’re not just saying that because they have a trivia game about grapes)." - Aimee Rizzo

Governor Inslee’s Favorite Pancakes Land in Eastlake - Eater Seattle

"New bar Footprint Wine is pouring mostly from kegs in an attempt to reduce waste and increase sustainability. The selection is predominantly biodynamic or organic Washington wines, as well as some sake and cider. The bar also offers a small menu of snacks, like pate and crostini." - Megan Hill

We absolutely loved Footprint Wine Tap! The selection of local wines was incredible, and chatting with Ken made the experience even better. His passion and knowledge really elevated our visit. I hope we get the chance to return someday. Such a great wine bar!

Google
What a truly fabulous discovery for wine lovers! My partner and I came in to Footprint Wine Tap for a post-dinner glass of wine and fell in love with the place. The space is modern, quaint and welcoming to all. We ended hitting it off with a few other guests and chatting the night away. Owner and wine maker, Ken, was exceptional by being willing to explain all their wine selections that are ON TAP! How unique and fun! Not to mention, their grapes are all sourced locally in Eastern Washington. I had their 2021 Pinot Noir which was aromatic, light bodied and went down all too easy. I truly appreciate supporting a business that is Black and LGBTQ owned. We will definitely become regulars and look forward to our next visit. PS: They serve charcuterie and pizzas.

Google
We came on a Thursday night around 7 pm and the place was empty. I don't remember the server's name but she was really nice and answered any questions we had. She recommended some good wine and a cider. I got a flight for $20 and I'd say it was well worth it. We didn't try any food so I can't speak to that. I would have loved to visit on a more popular night or when there was an event happening. I can see the potential in this place. I think more people should check it out and make it a regular stop during their week. It's pretty cool to see wine on tap instead of beer.

Google
Awesome place to enjoy wine and conversation. Some great small bites too. Love their commitment to sustainability and zero waste too. These are the type of places it feels good to support.

Google
Just look at the menu!! Owner Ken Dillon has spent over 2 years now perfecting this spot for YOU, the customer. Whether you are local or just visiting, this is worth a stop. Dine in, or carry out ... just do your thing and let Ken and his staff help you with it. Jist a nice and cozy place to be. They will answer all your questions. Doesn't matter if you are a wine enthusiasts or never had wine before. This is the place to be.

Google
Wine flight was delicious, food was tasty, and atmosphere was great. Maverick’s knowledge and engagement elevated the experience. Love the sustainability of the business too, will be back.

Google
Had a great time. Wonderful wine and service. Decided on a flight and had a delightful time. Great service, between flight servings only a couple minutes of wait at most

Lise-Mari Gillespie

Google
Had a wine flight, mixed olives and the cheese pizza. Lovely relaxing space with friendly service. Enjoyed the wines on offer and do recommend for a good start to the evening

Yelp
Ken, the owner and my server, is generous and knowledgeable and clearly cares deeply about this lovely little spot. It has a relaxed environment, a cool copper wall, and tasty wine selection. Come check it out!

Yelp
Thanks you again Yelp managers. This time, Lauren P. I would never have thought of this place before. Seeking out Capitol Hill area. Wonderful place with cool vibes. Lovely service and air conditioning. So stoked to come visit. And of course drink wine. Messaged my best friend immediately that we need to come back here. Small food menu and loads of wine. Do it and go on an adventure. SYOY.

Yelp
Footprint is unlike any wine bar I've been to. They have a variety of wine on tap and each one that I've tried has been nice, fresh, and slightly chilled. This was my second time going and both times the employees were friendly + knowledgeable about the wine. I had such a fun time learning about different flavors and grapes. The environment is chill and quiet, which is surprising because it's off a pretty busy street in cap hill! Highly recommend.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great evening to sip some wine and take care of some business, or even just meet up with some friends and have a glass or two quite frankly, this wine tap is amazing. Not only is the staff, friendly and courteous. They're also very knowledgeable and they know how to listen. If you tell them what you're looking for they can pair your desires with the best wine suited for you! They have a lovely assortment of food items to complement their vast array of wines, they even have a lavender mimosa that was phenomenal!

Yelp
Lovely service and great vibes in here. We were able to taste a couple wines before choosing and the person working was very helpful and friendly. We had the place to ourselves and had a very cute and quaint corner to enjoy our wine. The carafe of Pinot noir was enough for about three wine glasses worth and was of great quality! If you have time, take a look at all the art around the store, such beautiful shots of local mountains, lakes, and waterfalls. Overall, a great quiet place to enjoy a glass of wine!

Yelp
I am beyond ecstatic over Footprint Wine Tap on Capitol Hill. I have been wanting to check it out for several years since it opened. Like a good wine, time only allowed it to age to perfection. This business checks off all the boxes for me: - LGBTQ+, Black AND Asian-owned: Check! - Welcoming, warm ambiance with a variety of seating options: Check! - 30 unique drink options not only from sustainable kegs but also ranging from wine to cider to kombucha--there's something for everyone: Check! - All the beverages are produced locally, but also a couple are made by the owner himself: Check! - Service is always friendly and knowledgeable: Check! - They offer small bites that pair perfectly with their drink options: Check! Our crew began with wine tasting, to then by the glass pours, and then ended our night with cider. We all were particularly fond of the 2022 Pride Rosé, Grenache and Cherry Cider. It is no surprise that when I left it was standing room only.

Yelp
Excellent place for wine tasting and overall atmosphere. The owner/sommelier gave great recommendations. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
The wine was great. The bartender was super nice even while being slammed and on his own. The neighborhood is very LGBT+ friendly, pride flags everywhere. Only reason for the 4 stars is the charcuterie board was only okay. But I would go back for drinks, just not food.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and it's fast becoming one of my top spots in Seattle! They have delicious wine (yes, originally I was suspicious of the idea of wine on tap but its honestly no different to wine by the bottle!). You can also purchase growlers to take home which a really reasonably priced. I highly recommend the flight - three wines of your choosing and the charcuterie! They were very accommodating when it came to my food intolerances, offering more meats instead of cheese and gluten free crackers. They are also gay, Black and locally owned! The first time I went there I met the owner who was lovely and seemed genuinely happy meeting customers! I highly recommend anyone visiting or living in Seattle to go here!

Natasha T.

Yelp
Such a cute spot for wine and snacks. The place also has a really cozy vibe. Will definitely be going back!

Yelp
I visited Footprint Wine Tap last weekend and had such a great time! Ken is such a great host and very knowledgeable about the different wines that are on tap. I thought the concept of reducing our carbon footprint with different ways to bottle wine was such an amazing idea. The environment was so relaxing. We stopped in before beginning our evening and just had a fantastic time. The charcuterie board and house made goat cheese spread is a must try! If you are looking for great wine, great snacks, and an engaging host, this is your spot!

Yelp
I've been eyeing Footprint Wine Tap for a long time, and I'm glad I finally decided to go! We went during COVID and I can attest that they are doing a good job of making sure things are up to par with state regulations (when dine-in is allowed). We got there right as they opened. The guy working was super nice and very knowledgeable on all of the wines on the menu. I forgot what I got... But I can tell you it was delicious! All you have to know is that if you are wine lover, this place is worth the stop. They have flights and glass pours available. Outside of being a cute wine bar, there's a lot more that makes this place special. Footprint is black & LGBTQ-owned, and they are the first and only sustainable keg wine on tap bar. Super cool! Highly recommend supporting them during this time. Visit their website for options ranging from curbside orders to gift card purchases.

Yelp
// Summary Small and wonderful wine bar with a wide collection and a great staff! // Experience I ordered a wine flight, where you're able to choose three wines off the menu, each with a smaller pour. When they bring it out, they have a nice thing that they give along with the glasses that help you identify the wines. The wines that I had were great, as they seem to have a great selection on hand. // Service Staff were nice and friendly, helpful to make selections according to your palate. // Ambiance It's a small wine bar with a couple of tables and some bar seating. They got some great art in there, reflective of some of the Seattle/WA scenery. // Convenience It's in a busy part of the area, so there might not be easy parking.

Yelp
Cute little wine bar in capitol hill! It also amazing that they take extra steps for sustainability efforts. Even though I was not impressed by any wine in particular, our server was super attentive & helpful and when in doubt, you can pick & choose different wines for your tasting flights. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
First time here and absolutely loved it! Great choices of wine and small eats. We ordered flights and glasses and a board. Great ambiance, great service, friendly and attentive! Wine was fantastic and food was delicious! We would come back!

Yelp
Love this wine bar - interesting wines, friendly and helpful staff, delicious small plates/snacks, and great ambiance!

Yelp
Wine on tap!? This was a concept I hadn't previously heard for, but, why not? Footprint is a delightfully open, yet intimate venue that offers a nice variety of wine and tasty things to eat! I really enjoy that once of their missions is to have sustainable products. The employees are definitely knowledgeable about their products and can provide great recommendations. This is the exact place I need - I'm not a big wine drinker, but I also acknowledge there are some awesome wines out there if I just look for them! Their food menu is small, but packs big flavour. Several veggie options to choose from **LOVED** the crimini & walnut pate!! Definitely a good place to go as a small group so you can can several things. That said, I really do mean small group!

Yelp
Wow! What an awesome wine tasting experience! From service, to decor, to vino, this is the Seattle wine bar experience you want. First, Ken, who owns this new establishment was wonderful at selecting a wine based on my taste and mood of the moment. I'm difficult to find a good wine for, but he took the time to go over possible options and offer samples until I found something I loved. He also explained the wine, where it hails from, and that his wines are purveyed to be sustainable. Most of the wines are on tap. Super cool. Ken offers a monthly "wine club". You get two great "vessels" (which is a nod to the fact that Ken focuses on sustainability) of wine per month for $45. You also get exclusive access to special events, tastings, and a discount on glasses of wine when you visit. There is not a sign up fee, or cancellation fee, just be part of the club for as long or limited as you like. The ambience of the space is a combination of clean lines, modern, industrial, with a slight library hint. I could hang out here and feel comfortable enough to do my homework (while sipping one glass not four) and gaze outside onto the streets of Capital Hill on a rainy day. This is my new little wine bar. Thanks Ken!

Erika M.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful time here! Ken was so hospitable and suggested the most delicious wines and charcuterie pairings. I also love how they are committed to reducing waste. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Yelp
This was such a cute little wine bar. Me and the hubby stumbled upon it and decided to give it a try. Our hostess was so sweet and really knowledgeable about the pours. We each had a flight and it was pretty tasty we didn't purchase anything to go but they did have a pretty tasty selection. Overall, the vibe was good and staff was nice.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is so stinking cute. I don't know what's cuter, the establishment or the staff. And actually let me talk about the staff. Spectacular. Five stars. If I didn't have a job I would want to work here just to hang out with them. But wait... the wine... glug glug glug.... Will definitely be back. Oh wait! The piano guy totally just played a song from Mulan! It just keeps getting better and better!

Yelp
Absolute awesomeness!! Gotta love this concept. Beautiful tasty young wines from tap , yeah!! Footprint was impressive ! The design is very cool , great gathering place, prefunc before dinner or club. The gentleman working was super nice, he told us what was on tap and explained a little about the wines. We all had the flights, which I love when you can't decide. I had the Rosé, Sangiovese, and Valdiguié, all amazing!I They sell some bottles too. We also ordered some hummus, get that always! I'm excited to return. So get some people and check Footprint out!

Yelp
New wine bar. Here 1 week. Focusing on sustainable wine. Lovely set up. There are both tap and out of bottles. Check it out
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
Great concept! I can't believe there aren't more wine tap places like this in town! I love that it is eco-friendly and saves on all the glass bottles that go into the recycle every day around the city. All of the wines are WA state wines so it's a great place to do a tasting and see what you like. The guys who started this place are so sweet and have designed the interior of the space with such loving care and attention to deal. It is so inviting and warm - looking forward to future visits here when in Cap Hill!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
A wine bar with a mission of sustainability. Love it!! You can really FEEL that Ken, the owner and proprietor, has a passion for and expertise in food/wine pairings and sustainability. If you're looking for a casual, intimate place to enjoy a glass of wine, or three....this is the spot. We had a deliciously savory charcuterie with a selection of sparkling wine (Treveri- my #1 fav), Rose' and Cab Sauv. The staff was very attentive and genuine, and I felt more like I was welcomed into their home. AND along the way, I learned a bit about locally sourced wine.
google avatar

Nick A.

Yelp
Visiting from CA, I wanted to expose myself to some regional wines from the area. Ken did a beautiful job setting us up with suggestions and giving wonderful information about the area. My cousin and I had a great time here having ordered a wine flight and a flatbread. It was an excellent way to start our night, and Kens expertise helped launch us into a great evening. Thank you Ken!
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
Fantastic place in Capitol Hill to taste wine or have a glass. There are a variety of light bites that go well with the wine offerings. The champagne options are wonderful and you can also purchase a bottle for later. The staff are very helpful, explain everything and are happy to answer questions.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here a few times now, and it's a great wine spot in Capitol Hill. It's a little small but remains cozy; they have some beautiful photographs from local artists adorning the place. The cool thing is that they serve wine on tap, making it a lot more sustainable. The service is always great with super friendly, non-snobby bartenders, and I've tried a variety of their reds, and I enjoyed them all. They also have free WiFi, so you can bring a laptop here, although Idk if wine and work is the best idea. I got the hummus the last time I was here -- yummy and made in house. If sipping on a glass of wine in a great environment after work is your idea of fun - like it is for me -, then hey, maybe this is the spot for you.

Yelp
I visited Footprint amidst the coronavirus pandemic to pick up a bottle of sparkling wine that a kind neighbor had paid for (thanks, Dr. Christine!!). The staff was also able to recommend some additional wine from Wilridge Winery. The pickup and payment was touch-free and service on the phone and in person was very friendly! I can't wait to go back under normal circumstances.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
We met a friend from out of town for a light dinner and drinks!! I love the inclusivity and warm environment (first and foremost) and the food was incredible, as was the wine we drank. We had the house red blend. It was full bodies, with subtle nodes of Vito's and vanilla. Beautiful. We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Lai Joy C.

Yelp
Love this place. Stop by and do a flight! Great way to try different wines! They also have shared plates such as charcuterie platters, flat breads, or soup!
google avatar

Yelp
Adorable little wine bar on Madison with a great story of sustainability and fun Washington wine selections.
google avatar

Yelp
They have a fun flight option where you choose three of your desired choices. On a random day, you want to try something fun and try different wines, try here. cleanliness is great, vibe is pretty chill, and sort of a trendy feeling. anyhow, fun. try.

Yelp
A jewel in Seattle. The owner is as passionate about wine as one could even imagine . The service, quality of everything from the wine to the decor to the food is worthy of 6 stars. If you are looking for an experience that will leave you thinking " this is what a wine bar SHOULD BE" then you have to visit Footprint .
google avatar

Nina P.

Yelp
Living in CA near wine country, I had to venture in to taste NW wines. The place is small but intimate. We had our underage son with us but we were able to sit at a table. I am not a connoisseur per se, wine snob yes. I love my CA wines so I was excited to try the local wines. I decided on the flight to expand my tasting. I enjoyed the '16 Red Man Cabernet Sauvignon , Malbec and Hidden Horse red No 16. I was pleasantly surprised on how nice the bouquet and taste were. The owner is very nice and love his vision. The gal who served us was informative and enjoyed talking with her. Next time we visit Seattle we will come again. I wish them success in their venture.

Yelp
We discovered a new wine bar on Capitol Hill today - wonderful place with an ethic on sustainability. The ambience is lovely and welcoming. The wine was delicious and it's perfect for spending time watching the world go by We had a snack of homemade hummus which was also delightful Ken is the owner and he is so nice. Welcoming and cool guy Overall I would recommend it.

Yelp
A great neighborhood gem that is serving up some great wine and even food! The focus on sustainability doesn't stop at just the wine on tap either. Rather Footprint Wine Tap is taking a holistic approach and sourcing their food items locally (and organic) to thinking about the paper projects you'd utilize while you are enjoying your delicious wine. Attention to all the details is clearly on display here and on top of that it is a great space to hang out and enjoy. I can't wait for the live music! Salut!
google avatar

Will W.

Yelp
I'm so happy that they have stayed open during the pandemic! I love the unique wine selections that I can find here and the fact that I can still get food to go is amazing! I love a good sparkling wine and I've never been disappointed with what I have found here. That staff is lovely and I always feel so welcome when I visit here. What a great place to have in the neighborhood!

L G.

Yelp
5/5 definitely will be back!!! We had a 12 person reservation for a party and they were SO nice and accommodating. Let us know the day before they wouldn't split the bill, so we had time to prepare. Great service and cute, low key vibe. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Footprint wine tap is a destination in Seattle wa. From the live piano music to excellent service and fabulous wine/food, you will have a great time in this welcoming wine bar and restaurant. We are so lucky to have this gem in Seattle!!!

Yelp
Ken the owner was our server and was so wonderful! He was exceptionally knowledgeable, amazing selection, great atmosphere.

Yelp
After hearing the owner on the Cask Club podcast, my husband suggested we go in. And wow am I glad we did. We had a great time - tasted an excellent selection - and had an amazing charcuterie board!! Oh and got some goodies to take home. Will definitely be back ! Thanks !!!
google avatar

Yelp
A frequent stop for our shops S&S Squad. The cider and kombucha are fantastic. The maps all over are fun and helpful (aka walk around pointing to stuff like I know what I'm talking about while sipping.) The owner is a knowledgeable charmer and all other servers have excellent customer service. A great place for a first date or work meeting. Try the cheese plate!
google avatar

Carly M.

Yelp
We're so happy this place opened up right by our house. The concept is really fun, and all the wines we've tried have been great. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and Brandi, who helped us, is very knowledgeable about the wines and great to talk to. Definitely recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised. Got slightly lost on the way there but that's primarily Apple Maps' fault. We were the only ones at 7 on a Thursday but it filled up shortly after. The bartender/staff was quite helpful, let me sample a rose when I mentioned I don't typically like them, and provided the background for the place. If you get a few glasses, the cost can definitely start to add up but that's just wine in general (plus the costs of Capitol Hill). I live within very easy walking distance and will surely be back. I might even be convinced to join their version of a wine "club."
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Footprint wine is a lovely respite on busy Madison! My friend and I each got a flight of wine and they were both absolutely wonderful. The vibe is relaxing and understated. The wines are carefully selected. Ken, the owner, gave us lots of information about upcoming events and the wine we drank. I highly recommend this bar! What a delight.
google avatar

Ali L.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Great service and unique wines. Love their purpose. Little pricey, but worth it.

Lala O.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots. This place is a gem. Great little vibe. Fantastic wines and appetizers. You can do a flight or glass. They have events as well!

Yelp
Owned by one of the friendliest individuals I have met, this Capitol Hill based wine bar has a wonderful selection of several different types of red and white wine along with a couple of hard ciders and sake. I tried a few of the different offerings and really enjoyed every single glass, including the sake which is a type of beverage I typically don't like. It definitely demonstrated that the owner knows what he's doing! The ambience of the bar is friendly and inviting and the food offerings paired perfectly with my beverages. I highly recommend that you pay this establishment a visit!
