Detroit women came together to watch Barbie at the Ford Drive-In Theatre - Eater Detroit

"Metro Detroit’s old-school Ford Drive-In Theatre, which sits on the Detroit-Dearborn border, was no different last weekend. Barbies showed out in oversized fuchsia-colored blazers with shoulder pads, powder pink corsets or halter tops, furry leg warmers that look like they once made a cameo at Movement, neon feather boas, even packing carafes of sangria, red velvet cakes, and pink throw blankets to enjoy the on-screen Barbiefied world. Eater stopped by the Ford Drive-In on Friday to watch the movie (of course), but also for the people watching. The scene was family-friendly and business-as-usual in the concession hut (sorry, no pink cotton candy, y’all), with hot dogs, popcorn, and other snacks on hand. But the venue, with its untouched vintage vibes, served as the idyllic backdrop to take in the action." - Serena Maria Daniels

Love coming with my kids to the drive in! It's a fun experience. We can chit chat without being a bother to anyone during the movie. We bring camping chairs and blankets and sit under the stars. Bathrooms are always clean! Snacks are cheaper than the movie theatre, or even better, you can bring your own and not have to hide it. Sonic is right across the street too. Truthfully, I like the drive in better than the movie theatre. I hope this places lasts the test of time.

Google
I haven't been to a drive-in since I was a small kid and it's everything I remembered. The lots were clean, parking spots well marked, and good snacks!; All for a per-vehicle fee. Was a great time and we encourage others to experience this slice of Americana!!

Jarrod Leonard

Google
The attendants didn't make people park right. People were taking up 2 spaces double parked. And concessions need to go back how it was years ago. It was much faster then.

Google
Noisy guests, weed smell wafting every few minutes and poor quality supplied speakers are the cons. Pros? Nice picture, decent concessions and clean bathrooms. Ymmv based on the people around you, but if you bring a decent FM radio, a comfy chair or laying setup (like the back of a truck) it can make for a really nice night.

H Johnson

Google
Such an awesome experience. Old school feel from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed taking my child here for an enjoyable movie and a totally different vibe than modern theaters. We’ll definitely be heading back.

Google
Love coming here. Little picnic in car. Bring the dog. Bring the family. Double feature. What more could you ask for. They offer single person tickets at the gate, not online. So if you and just your pup are going its half price.

Trisha Carter

Google
Very nice. Very large drive in. Bathrooms and food area are clean. Price is by car so Very nice if you have a few people going. New movies each week.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, 40 years later and it still delivers. I brought my 16 year old for her first drive in the movie, and she loved it. Concessions have changed and the entry could use some technology upgrades, but that doesn't take away from the nostalgia. I will always return to support this place. If God permits it, I will be bringing my granddaughter and youngest in about 5 more years.

Yelp
We loved The for wyoming drive is It's a baby making place, but we still love it. The popcorn is great, the drinks are great But what do you expect at a drive in?

randy m.

Yelp
The price. I understand charging almost $30 for a carload of people, but I live alone and I'm a senior citizen and I can't afford to pay $30 to enjoy the drive-in like I did when I was a kid it's only me in the car, that's $30 for me to see a movie I can go to the inside show much cheaper than that. Even if I don't see two shows.

Yelp
I love this place, BUT... I come somewhat frequently and would love to give this 5 stars. It's a gem in a lot of ways and seemingly pretty well run. Screens are good, in and out is good, viewing angles are good. BUT you WILL have problems with people leaving headlights on and staff is not proactive enough about monitoring for this and stopping it. I left last night after having a movie ruined by people in front and behind me leaving lights on for an hour or more. I have seen them tell people to turn off lights, but more often I have to get out of my car and have the uncomfortable experience of knocking on windows to ask myself. It's an issue almost every time I go. There needs to at least be a number to call to notify staff so they can handle it. It sucks because I really do love this place otherwise.

Lois S.

Yelp
Great drivein theatre. My parents took me here. I took my children. Now I take my grandchildren.

Ernie

Yelp
Being from Virginia, we do not see drive in theatre's and we were happy with the ease of purchasing tickets, etc, parking, and exiting afterwards.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Ford Wyoming regularly with my mother for the past 30 years of my life. By far my favorite drive in. They've recently done a lot of remodeling. The snack bar is bigger, and has many options to satisfy your cravings. Need to use the bathroom? They've got two CLEAN, huge bathrooms. All the staff is friendly. They recently painted the screens, and even got a new sign out front. I'm beyond happy to see the Ford doing so well again, they're packed every night like when I was a kid. The cameras can be a little dark, but when you go to a drive in, you're going for the entire experience. Not just the movie, so it's a small trade off. The atmosphere is typically relaxed. But on nights like "Straight Outta Compton," it was a MAD HOUSE. BEST NIGHT EVER. EVERY ticket sold out and the line was down the road! I highly recommend the experience for everyone. There's 6 screens, two movies each, and usually repeat until sun up

Yelp
Haven't been to a drive in movie in - well if I told you how long then I would be revealing my age perhaps... This operation has it down to a science with lanes to the screens- bringing you in- guiding you in. "Double features" exist and apparently movie hopping common. It's a late night for a double feature. Bathroom and food in the middle. The playground is currently closed due to the pandemic. Great 50s style in between movies to remind you when the next movie begins. Unfortunate that all new cars have power saving causing many headlights to return when you attempt to turn power back on. Sound is through radio station- little quiet and you get used to it. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I wish I could have given this place a higher rating because I had an amazing time. This was my husband and I first experience at a drive-inn together. We absolutely loved the concept of watching a movie while remaining in your automobile. Below is a list of positives and negatives to help prepare you for what's ahead. Positives (+) 1) It's a double feature, you get two movies for the price of one. 2) You are in the comfort of your own car. You can make as much noise as you want without worrying about disturbing others. 3) You can turn the volume as high or as low as you like. 4) I was more comfortable in the car because I had complete control over the temperature. 5) You can bring your own snacks or buy snacks there. Negative (-) 1) The picture quality sucks! We were watching Bad Boys and Gretel and Hansel, and the film was dark the whole time. There were times we couldn't see anything. I'm hoping that they were having technical difficulties because it really disrupts the experience. I would give this place 5 stars if they fix the picture quality. I love the idea of being in your own car while watching the film. Even though the picture quality wasn't the greatest it was an amazing experience and I will be willing to give them a second try.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun places for family, couples , friends, whoever to watch a movie especially during the pandemic. Movies are $12 per person . Screen is kinda dark but the sound is clear. There is a sonic and tim Horton near by so grab your hot food and go watch a movie They could update the place a little though.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
What a great place! I must come here twice a month at least. Its a solid venue with many double feature options, and you cant beat a movie theatre where you can smoke, drink (so long as you arent driving of course) and bring your own food whether its a hamburger or a six course thanksgiving meal. Theyve got decent concessions but the lines can be wild on the weekends, stop at 7-11 for some extra large big gulps, candy, and make some buttery popcorn at home. The concessions do sell a decent cheap pizza slice or nachos if your stuck though. My only two complaints keeping this from a full 5 star are that too many people keep their head/taillights on and they dont do an adequate job of enforcing it and I find that to be personally distracting. Like a cell phone screen blaring in a dark room. They also make it onerously hard to access the concessions area if you arent in the paddock for theatres 1 or 2, 3-5 youre in for a very inconvenient or potentially dangerous drive or wrose, walk. especially if youre trying to abide by the rules using parking lights. (Going against one ways, driving through theaters, etc.) I honestly dont understand why they dont just eschew some (frankly bad) viewing spaces to make the theatre double wide lanes on the interior for cross traffic and clearly, based on signage, there used to be more ways to easily access concessions vua vehicle. How about an app where they bring it to you, put in your license plate, theatre #, row and model and order it. Problem solved. Maybe a fancy port a john in each theatre. Theyre selling double features, a long trip across multiple lanes of unpredictable traffic is a far cry from walking 100 ft. In a movie theatre. Its still a wonderfully freeing experience compared to your normal cinema and a highly nostalgic taste of americana.

Yelp
They are still doing drive in movies right. The place is clean, they keep tabs on issues like people havIng their lights on and the bathrooms are well maintained

Yelp
I love going to this drive especially during the summer but I this place needs to be remodeled. Mainly the snack stands, stereos and pavements. It's a gravel road and it's hard trying to leave because of it. Despite that it's always a good time, bring friends and covers to get cozy!
google avatar

Yelp
As someone who loves going to the movies and has been severely deprived of that during this pandemic, going to this drive-in for the first time this weekend was such a wonderful experience! It is still very different than going to the theaters because my car seats are ultimately not as comfortable as movie theater recliners, but it scratched the itch! The drive-in is so organized, the line getting in was long, but would go quickly, and I was surprised by how many areas/screens they had. I will definitely be checking to see what other movies they have because I'm eager to return! The only slight downside was that the movie screens were kind of dark, so at times (especially during darker scenes) it would be hard to see what was going on in the scene to the point where I sort of need to rewatch the movie again to capture all the nuances of the movie. So I might not recommend this for new movies, which is what I went to see, and rather for movies you've already seen before and wanted to rewatch, given that they do play a lot of classics / throwback movies!

Chloe C.

Yelp
This place honestly seems a bit sketch at first but it's so great. One notable thing is the staff are so nice and I've only ever had positive interactions with them. Last time I went a huge group of people including a lot of kids parked in front of us were being super loud the entire time but I think that's on them not the drive-in itself. I do wish they didn't raise the prices to $27 a car instead of the previous ~$10 a person but I guess that's a much better deal if you come with a car full of people. Also, do yourself a favor and try the concessions pizza. Their concessions are so expensive but it's weirdly amazing food.

Adam P.

Yelp
It's always a vibe coming here, but this last experience wasn't the best. I got a bag of popcorn - WITH BUTTER - and the lady put way too much butter on the popcorn. An absurd amount to the point that it leaked through the bag and deep into my cloth car seat. I ended up spending about half the movie trying to wipe the butter out of my seat. If they are going to do this, then they should transition to the round popcorn tubs that movie theaters use instead of having cheap, thin paper bags.

Yelp
Come on people, It's the worlds biggest Drive IN. It has 9 theaters, but really they keep theaters 1-5 open. First of all, it's not new, it's not updated, It's a classic drive in movie theater, The price is cheaper per person than going to a theater (8.75 an adult), and you get two movies for the price of one. The concession stand is basic, nothing fancy, and the food food from there is high priced, but popcorn and pops are reasonable. Go buy some pizza, load up with your snacks, and head to the drive in. Get there early so you get a good spot.
google avatar

Becki B.

Yelp
I love going to the drive-in! We've always enjoyed it a few times each summer. Now that we have a baby, it's a perfect night out. Last time we went, our daughter was completely drawn into watching the big picture in front of us during the first movie, and asleep by a little while into the second. We packed some candy and slurpees from 7-Eleven and planned to get popcorn once we were settled in. With my horrible night vision, I chickened out on walking ALL THE WAY to the concession stand, but my husband knew how much I wanted the popcorn and walked over there for me. Yay! I didn't check out the restrooms (see my previous note about my night vision), so my only advice would be if you don't drink too much, hopefully you won't have to find out if they're good or bad.

Yelp
Love this place and takes me back to great childhood memories when we took the family the and I was just a litle kid under the blanket. I am sure I have been here over 30 times and since it is a double feature then does that count for over 60 times : ) Usually bring in food and drink for the show, they do not frown on it and it is not sneaking it in like a movie theatre. Across the street is Taystee's burgers from the BP gas station......they burgers are to die for : ) The concession stand has the standard fair......popcorn, pop, water, candy, etc. I love popcorn from the theatre but this is not the best (sadly). They have public bathrooms but there and be a line and also a bit of a walk depending on which screen you are watching from. Also while walking best to have a flashlight because there are potholes all over.....oh and watch driving because of them too : O Most people watching with you from other cars know how to listen through their radio and know to turn off their headlights and interrior ones too. But a heads up that some do not and their lights are so annyonying UGH I would recommend going : ) A Big Thumb Up !!!!

Yelp
This place is priced right, but man is it dated. They seem to have done "nothing" to update it in the last 40 years. It's almost like coming through a time machine as you drive in, it really takes you back! The snack bar looks to have a decent selection of offerings. The bathrooms are in pretty bad shape. The image on the screen when we were there was a little too dim. The sound by tuning into a frequency through your car radio was pretty clear. Once the movie was over it was difficult to find the exit. As old as this place is, it's nice to see that it exists with all the drive-ins that have closed over the years. Hats off to keeping it open.

Joy C.

Yelp
Kat was so nice to me tonight. I purchase a ticket to see Woman King and The customer service is what will keep me patronizing this company. Thank you for hiring nice staff!
google avatar

Kassidy E.

Yelp
SO MUCH FUN! The movies start really late but it's such a great experience. There's not a bad place to park, you can see from any spot. The sound is amazing, definitely an unforgettable experience.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
We had a great time! It brought back childhood memories for sure! I love that you can run the sound through your car radio. The bathrooms could use some TLC but hey it's a drive in....Over all I highly recommend checking this place out, it has all the good feels. Keep it up Ford-Wyoming!!

Yelp
Other than the almost constant scent of Marijuana (smoke it before you come people), my family and I enjoyed the drive in. We saw Finding Dory and Through The Looking Glass. The picture is greatly improved! Still a great time, as it was anyway. We lay a futon mattress in the back of my husband's truck with a blanket and pillows, bring a cooler with water and pop, and a bag of snacks. I personally enjoy it much more than going to a movie theatre. We'll be back as often as we can!

Yelp
Someone's got to hold Ford-Wyoming Drive-in accountable for its mistakes - it's likely a great place to watch films, but during our one and only chance to visit the theatre, we were left frustrated and disappointed. We arrived to watch "A Quiet Place," very excited about the idea of a drive-in experience. This film was advertised on their website (we checked), through Fandago, on their billboards, and on their Facebook Page. We planned our night around viewing it. Upon arriving, they said that the film "broke." Not like the screen broke or the ground was muddy or some other factor - just that the specific film we came to see was "broken," so we would have to watch another film. I don't pretend to know how drive-in movies work, but this was a big disappointment after we had done the research and prepared for the evening. This venue needs to take care of its advertising to alert customers about films simply being "out-of-operation" (whatever that means). It also could have gone a long way if the staff were kind and apologetic about the mishap, but they were quite the opposite. For all of this, I have to leave a 1-Star review. I hope they see this and re-think their approach to communicating with customers in the future.

Lindsey W.

Yelp
It was nice to have a social distanced date night. I give this place props for doing a great job with social distancing. It was easy and fun. The concession stands are clean and they enforce 6ft distancing. We got there 20 min early and had no issues with parking. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 starts is because they let people come in still 45+ minutes after the movie starts so you have people circling around with lights on while you're watching the movie. I'll go back!
google avatar

Janice J.

Yelp
Great place to take the family out for a picture show. The movie are older but it's something to do. The children love it. Especially the goodies from the food truck.
google avatar

Liezl E.

Yelp
This was a good time and a great time killer for my 6am flight. A true old school Drive-In with speaker boxes you could remove and put in your car. As a more modern alternative, you could also tune into a specific radio frequency to listen to the movie, which is great when you've already seen the movie. With the frequencies clearly displayed beneath the screen, you can easily tune into the other screen's movie frequency and watch, without having to move your car. Also, it was the night of a meteor shower, so as The Hangover played, you would occasionally see a meteor or two from the corner of your eye stream across the sky. The only downside is that some idiots who don't seem to get that you're supposed to turn off your headlights when you drive in, so occasionally the screen would get washed out. Also some people turn their cars around and watch from the back of their SUVs, leaving their headlights/parking lights on right in your face. If you don't know how to turn off your headlights, you shouldn't be allowed in here. $8.50 per person. Decent snacks at the concession stand. Clean restrooms.
google avatar

Shunda B.

Yelp
ATTENTION NIGHT CREW... Where can you get two movies for the price of 1?! Duh, here!!! Ok I haven't been here in many moons - basically back when they were just counting vehicles and not actually the amount of people inside the vehicle. (Obviously that has changed) You can either tune in through your radio or use the mounted speakers like back in the day. Regardless this is a great spot and you can bring in your own refreshment - not sure if it's breaking a rule but who cares honestly. Lol! Support the drive thru so they can be around much longer. :)
google avatar

Katrina G.

Yelp
I was truly excited to finally return to the drive in. My husband and I went last night and saw (Bad Boys 3). Very disappointed in our experience. Stood in the concession stand line for over 45 minutes (missed 1/2) the movie... ordered our food and the ONLY thing tasty was the popcorn. Chicken fingers were cold and tiny. My suggestion, bring your own snacks. Very slow service
google avatar

Stefania R.

Yelp
I don't know why I don't come here more. It's seriously so much fun and so worthwhile. $10.50 for two movies and concessions are much cheaper than the average theatre. Be sure to keep your little raffle ticket. They have numbers picked inside the snack bar for freebies!
google avatar

Tony C.

Yelp
Awesome deal! $9.25 a person and you get a double feature. But that's not where it ends. The uniqueness is worth even more than the price of admission. Only a few drive ins left not only in Michigan but the country. The video quality is great and with the ability to listen both on your car radio and the portable unit is awesome. I was impressed how clear the radio audio was. Do yourself a favor and go here. Perfect on a nice spring/summer/fall night. No issues with the people in other cars either as some other reviewers had.
google avatar

Timmarah C.

Yelp
PROS: The movie quality was awesome! You can bring your pets in with you. Long line to get inside but it moved fast! CONS: There is no Closed Captioning provided so I wasn't able to invite any of my deaf friends which was a bummer for me. The bathroom doors for the woman's restroom do not closed properly so you would need someone there to hold the door for you. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD! My friends bought food from the concession stand and the sausage she order wasn't cooked AT ALL. All in all, me and my friends had a great time!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Been coming here for 20 years. Like seriously, I remember watching Muppets from Space as a kid in my dad's van with blankets. I LOVE this theater. Pros Great for pick up trucks/Van's, SUVs. Take your seats outs, put a mattress in (or blankets..whatever floats your boat) GREAT FOR THOSE WITH KIDS...and the ones who hate kids. Why? How? You're in your own vehicle. So you guys can't hear each other. You'll see kiddos at the park before the movies at the park. But that's about it. You can smoke your cigarettes while you watch movies ;) The snack bar is good af. YOU CAN'T PASS UP ON A DRIVE IN. Cons Screen quality isn't the best

NY L.

Yelp
I had a great experience at the drive in but the only reason why I chose 4 stars was because the screen was not bright enough. The movie quality was very faint but I did enjoy the big screen and the comfort in my own car. Be sure to bring a portable radio if you do not want to leave your car running, the speakers were not on when I went. I recommend leaving a little early before the movie ends because there is only one exit and the traffic gets busy.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
$9.75 for a weekday double feature, first one starts around 9:30pm. Small crowds during the week, and be sure to tune into the radio station for audio rather than rely on their rather quiet personal car speakers. This drive in theater is a quaint respite from the busyness of going to the movies in downtown Detroit. Absolutely worth the 15 minute drive from the city. Minimally staffed, the onus is on every driver to be respectful. Which, at drive ins, means keep the car lights down and motor off when you can. Hope you enjoy your movie.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
While the place is a little outdated, the prices make up for it! The bathrooms are generally unkept and dingy, the parking lot has a lot of garbage and broken glass, and the patrons are usually obnoxious and loud and nothing is ever done to stop them. In the summer the air will smell strongly of weed, and the lots become pretty packed. My favorite time to go is spring and fall when it's a little more quiet and less crowded. All concession stands are close to half the price of a theater, and they always show current films. The ticket price is nothing special, but it's always a double feature! I love taking my nieces and nephew because the experience is worth enduring the not so pleasant parts!
google avatar

April D.

Yelp
You get some great deals to visit this drive in on Groupon. One of my favorite date spots, they always have a great selection of new movies, the concession stand is fantastic (AWESOME popcorn), the staff that works here are funny and really nice. The only negative about going to the drive in is you can sometimes get people that leave their lights on during the duration of the movie because they more then likely do not know how to shut them off. Very rarely you'll run into a speaker that doesn't work if you prefer to use them over the possibility of your battery dying while you keep it on to hear the movie. Regardless of the small negatives, I would highly recommend this drive-in to anyone looking to get more (2 movies) for their money!
google avatar

Mehdi A.

Yelp
I've been coming to the Drive-in for a few years and each time I go I get the experience I paid for. It's super cheap price for a double feature, so thats a plus. Also, you can bring your own food. I usually go for the full course meal, dessert and everything. There is some bad, like people who decide to leave their car lights on, or people who are very noisy. I only had these issues a few times. TIPS: You got to pick the less crowded days to go because when it's busy it takes a while to get in. That being said, make sure to leave early if you want to catch previews/or beginning of the move.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Fun for the kids and the adults. My wife and I have a three week old and my 12 year old really wanted to see gardions of the galaxy normally not a possibility but with this place the only person a crying baby bothered was her 12 year Old sister. P.s. group on for this theater is great we save $20
google avatar

Steven J.

Yelp
The joint looks a little run down from the road, but everything is well-maintained and clean inside the actual movie area. The car speakers actually function (though for better sound quality the FM broadcast is recommended). Had popcorn from the snack bar and it had a good flavor and texture.
google avatar

Michele A.

Yelp
Great drive in theater and they seem to always be running a groupon. The only downside is when you pull in to get tickets the people seem uninterested in helping you or even pointing you in the right direction. The screens are great and the lots are big. They also have a concession stand with your typical popcorn candy soda, however it is amazing they also do hot french frys and hot dogs!
google avatar

James V.

Yelp
Sound quality, hospitality & great popcorn! Can't stop thinking about how much fun it is to see a movie in a drive-in theater! We will be back for a 3rd time next year!

robby d.

Yelp
Great place to spend the weekends...usually opens at 7pm and just chill and read a book until movie starts...the quality of the movie screen and projector is not the best but chilling in your own vehicle is really cool and the voice comes out via radio station...has food service area that seems popcorn, pizza, soda pop, candy, hot dogs and has nice clean bathrooms...I stop across the street at that Sonic couple weeks ago and order 3 corn dogs...either way experience...as a final note surrender to Jesus, only Jesus can save you, Covid 19 is biblical and book of revelations has arrived....Amen

Jacob M.

Yelp
What's showing at the Ford-Wyoming can be found at Bigscreen dot com ... https://www.bigscreen.com/Marquee.php?theater=3720&view=sched&showdate=2019-03-08&sort=date&fbclid=IwAR2NgimhzCR6fF8qViF6ANLuG1josFH4NgPyBW44Dz0vq2wi4MtL27sVAbY Why the theater doesn't list its movies at their main website or their Facebook page I don't know. .... Visit their main website ... then visit their FB page ... then goto BigScreen for the actual listings.

Yelp
I have been her in the past and decided to do something different and check it out. I had a Groupon that I had to use soon. I gave this a 4 because it is the best old school Drive-in in the area. It has 2 sides with 3 screens. It also has a Snack area in the middle of the place that serves Popcorn, hot dogs, fries and more. There are a few fast food spots in the area so I usually get my own food and drinks elsewhere. This was not the best day to go. The driving area was terrible. Ice, Deep puddles, snow was not too cleaned up. I do understand that it has been a rough winter but this was a after two 40 degree days. I have a small SUV with all wheel but was still afraid of getting stuck. It turned out well. Seen 2 movies. Not sure I would ever go in the winter again but will check it out in the summer. If you want a true Drive-in experience check it out.

Yelp
If you live in the Metro Detroit area, the Ford-Wyoming Drive-In should be mandatory. The Ford-Wyoming is about as classic as they come, and if it weren't for the rust on their retro neon sign, you might believe you traveled through time to get there. Nothing has changed, not the ticket booths, the speakers to hang on your door, the concession stand or the bathrooms. Being a midcentury-obsessed weirdo, I love this stuff. As other reviewers have noted- you can't beat the price for a movie here. For the price you would pay at a traditional movie theater, you get a double feature! Granted, you may not love the pairings they offer, but hey, it's betters than nothing! Also, you get the benefit of being able to bring your own chairs, or to create a comfy seat in the back of your truck. Also, drive-in doesn't discourage people from bringing their own food or drinks. If you a pro, like my husband and I, you go to Gracie See's pizza for takeout before the movie (get the Sicillian extra crispy with cheese bread) and enjoy that garlicy goodness through the entire show. So if you haven't ever visited, you should go. Go this weekend, actually. Bring blankets and pillows and snacks and drinks. Here are a few rules to live by: -If you can, dim your headlights! -If it can be avoided, don't park directly in front of someone else's car. -Once the movie starts, keep your kids close and quiet -CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. This should go without saying. -Don't try to sneak to another screen, these narrow paths go in a single direction. That's rude.

Yelp
My dad has many stories about him and his rowdy friends as teenagers hanging out at this theater and seeing all the movies that are cult classics today. We loved hearing him repeat the same old stories every time he'd take us here. The theater is in a sort of shady area but how can you resist? They play double features, for the price of one ticket. We would always pay for the first movie we wanted to see and if we didn't like the movie playing with it, we would just drive to another theater to see one we did want to see. Not sure if this is "allowed" but it certainly has never been an issue for us. Just keep your headlights off if it's not too dark. That is annoying to other movie goers. They have a concessions area that you can walk to and they have all the normal stuff like popcorn, pop, and candy but bringing your own is always a possibility. The theaters all have speakers and heaters you can put in your car window, but the radio option for sound is always better and that is available as well. There are some issues that come with a drive in theater. 1)Cars will pull up right next to you, sit outside their car and talk their faces off...ghetto people don't treat this like a normal movie theater. 2)You can have a really good spot, but then a giant van will pull in front of you, and let their kids sit on the roof, blocking your view, and then you have to move to get a better view. 3)Cars that come late and drive around with their headlights on while the movie is playing. Annoying. 4)Some of the screens which are closer to the street or other nearby businesses get too much light coming from street lights or signs and it can be harder to see darker scenes in the movies. If a movie looks a bit "darker" I usually will see it in a normal theater to avoid potentially missing alot of it. Even with all those faults being a possibility with every trip to the drive-in, I still had to give it at least 4 stars. Take your kids. Take your friends. Take your grandma. Drive-in's are so rare these days, most people will probably never experience one so go while you still have the opportunity. It's something everyone should at least experience.

Yelp
Super fun, LOVE the drive-in. The only bummer is that, UNTIL midnight, the BP gas station behind just one of the theaters is lit up like a roman candle with stadium-style florescents. Hard on the eyes until the second movie begins. Other than that, if there's something good on, I'll use the drive-in anytime between March and November.

Yelp
Given that there are so few drive-ins these days, we went here as a goof. I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. First, it was nice not having to deal with concessions. We were able to bring whatever we wanted (two big macs, a two-liter of Faygo and a pint of Captain) which made it all worth while. One thing I didn't like too much was the price: $12. Considering that price bought us TWO movies and not one, it was worth it in the end since each was only $6. However, I can see this getting quite annoying if you were only looking to see one film and ended up having to pay full price. They have it where you can tune in on your car radio, so sound quality isn't an issue. Also, the screens are huge, and if you don't like your neighbors, it's really easy to move. In all it was the stereotypical drive in experience, and we loved every minute of it. I'd recommend everyone in Detroit go to the drive-in so it stays in business, and we all have that common ground of having done something that used to be routine for our parents.
