"The market and restaurant owned by a chef and a farmer feels like a beloved neighborhood spot in Historic Overbrook. Meats and produce are nearly all local, and chef Shawn Kelly is at the top of his game at brunch. There are rotating specials like soft shell crab and grits and tomato and pimento cheese tart, as well as flaky and shareable baked goods. Fork and Plough pours a celebrated mimosa; a frozen orange juice cube is topped with farmer fizz at a stellar price." - Stephanie Burnette

"When chef Shawn Kelly partnered with Roddy Pick of Kingbird Pastures to create Fork & Plough, it established the anchor business Historic Overbrook needed — the restaurant/market/butcher shop hums along with neighborhood vibes. Farm-fresh comfort food is its sweet spot including fried chicken, meatloaf, and daily soups. The award-winning house burger made with Kingbird Pastures beef, shitake mushrooms, Swiss, and arugula is one of the best in Greenville. Weekend brunch is a standard with its mimosas topped with orange juice ice cubes." - Stephanie Burnette

Food was delicious. Everything from the starters to the main dish to dessert was tasty, flavorful, and delicious. The place is very cute and homey feeling. We had a big group of us and the food did not take long to come out and the waitstaff was very nice.

I ordered the vegetable plate. Unfortunately, most of the veggies were soggy and limp. The squash was very mushy. The cauliflower was roasted but with so much pepper that I could not eat it all. All that for $20! It was very busy, but the server worked hard. I suppose I ordered the wrong thing. It needs to be greatly improved.

Google
I was pretty disappointed the $12 soup that was smaller than my tic-tac container. It tasted good but was way over priced. The Turkey wrap was $15 and much better on the value scale. You can tell the food is higher quality and normally that comes with an associated cost. Overall, I’ll go back but it’s not a lunch staple for me.

We have been looking forward to trying this place for brunch for a few weeks. We were highly disappointed, mainly in the food. The eggs tasted like powdered eggs. The French toast is soggy and flavorless. The bacon is tough and chewy. The potatoes weren’t cooked. The Blood Mary was just straight Tobasco sauce. We won’t be back anytime soon. Looks great, but looks aren’t everything!

My boyfriend and I are here on 2/17 for the first time and we will not be going back. First they brought our dinner out around 3 minutes after our appetizer. The temp in my broccoli was so uneven and unflavored. Literally one bite would contain hot and cool pieces. The mahi mahi was dry and needed a sauce and once again barely any flavor. Our service was okay. Our water ran out and was never refilled. But the bar drinks were good. As we were leaving we didn’t even get a goodbye or thanks for coming. We were totally ignored. I expected better because of the reviews and honestly I didn’t want to write a bad review but we spent over 100 dollars for mediocre bland food that we didn’t even finish.

Google
Fork and Plough blew me away. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was welcoming super friendly staff, and a menu that is fresh everyday! (which I love). You can tell they care about sourcing quality, local ingredients because every bite tasted fresh and intentional. I had brunch, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Thoughtful, beautifully plated, and full of flavor without being fussy. Also worth mentioning, the service was fantastic. Our server was knowledgeable, gave great recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. Whether you’re a foodie or just someone who appreciates a solid, farm-to-table meal, Fork and Plough is absolutely worth the visit. Can’t wait to go back.

Dress Up and Play Menu Roulette—A Mixed Experience Leaving Me Let Down Fork and Plough has all the makings of a five-star restaurant with a beautiful interior and rotating menu, but my first visit didn’t quite meet those expectations. That said, I’m optimistic that my next experience will be different, and I do believe there’s potential here. Let’s start with the service, which admittedly got off to a rocky start. Our request to switch tables was met with a less-than-welcoming response from the hostess, which set an unfortunate tone for the rest of the night. Audible sighs and eye rolling. Despite this, we tried to focus on the meal, which had its ups and downs. We began with the Crispy Fried Shrimp, a dish with lovely components like arugula, Parmesan, and lemon, though the shrimp alone didn’t shine as much as I’d hoped. We needed to include all the garnish with each bite for a pleasing taste. The lemon was too firm to use, which made it feel like more effort than reward. For the mains, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, which had a spicy kick but felt overly busy with competing flavors. The onion rings, however, were excellent. My wife had the Shiitake Swiss Burger, but the experience was marred by soggy, flavorless fries. She ended up preferring bites from my plate over her own. We decided to end the meal with the highly recommended Rose Angel Food Cake, hoping for a redeeming finish, but I am sad to say it did not. However, there’s a bright spot that leaves me hopeful. On a separate occasion, we received a chicken pot pie from Fork and Plough as a gift, and it was exceptional—comfort food at its finest, the kind that evokes memories of a grandmother’s homemade cooking. It was exactly what I’d hoped for during my first visit and what everyone said it would be. Because of that pot pie, I’m willing to give Fork and Plough another chance. While my initial experience wasn’t stellar, I’m confident there’s a lot of promise here. Maybe I just hit an off day or should have chose a more premium meal option. I’ll be back to see if their menu can truly live up to its potential.

Google
Delicious food that changes weekly. The flavors the chef blends are surprisingly well paired. My husband and I took 6 of our kids and we all left satisfied. I wouldn’t give 5 stars if it wasn’t well deserved. I believe this place has been underrated which is surprising. It’s peaceful ambience and excellent service added to the fantastic food make it a top spot for us when we visit Greenville.

Yelp
Brussels sprouts so yummy Cold brew martini delicious Beef carpaccio so light and perfectly seasoned.

Yelp
Pros: Fork and Plough is a super trendy restaurant with a beautiful interior. It has a great vibe and the service was amazing! Our server was so friendly and helpful. Cons: I truly did not enjoy the food. We started with the Reuben croquettes, which were frozen in the middle. We tried to eat around the frozen bits as not to waste them. For my main course, I ordered the fried chicken biscuit. The biscuit was delicious but it was topped with so much collard greens that it unfortunately made the chicken and biscuit super soggy. However, the hashbrowns were really good. For the price, this meal was pretty bad overall. Overall, super disappointed with our first experience at Fork & Plough.

Yelp
Trendy small intimate farm to table place! We were seated in the corner near a window to see the whole restaurant and the traffic in and out! Which was great because I love to people watch! Our waitress was personable and very familiar with menu which I appreciate since I have various food allergies and ask more than the usual questions! Our food was delicious- the Brussels are crispy and well seasoned but I would prefer a sweeter sauce to contrast the bitter of the Brussels though! My filet was enjoyable even though a smidge beyond med rare that I prefer and the hubby really enjoyed his scallops with curry! The very berry cobbler was a nice finish to the meal. They are generous either wine pour and they offer a great beer selection too The place is bright and convenient with parking

Yelp
Some of the best food and service in the upstate, I highly recommend this establishment any day and time

Paul S.

Yelp
Had Easter Sunday brunch here yesterday. It was fantastic. Our server was very polite, professional, and has a sense of humor. The food was great. Love the crispy Brussel sprouts with the aoli and the deviled eggs were yummy. The omelette just needed a little salt but we took care of that and it was good as well. Its a nice take here. We will be back to try more things. Very good operation here.

Yelp
As we consider ourselves "regulars" at this restaurant....Chef Shawn and his team have been hitting home runs! My previous review regarding having some "issues" with fish dishes--I am happy to report --appears to have been resolved because our recent visits and ordering fish has been spot on delicious! The salmon and scallops ( mainly what we order when it comes to fish ) have been perfectly cooked and tender. Thank you. Recently tried a lamb dish with ravioli which was tasty and surprisingly really filling with "only" 3 ravioli. And the no bake peanut butter cheesecake is so tasty and less dense than regular cheesecake but ohh so good .. We are already looking forward to this weekend's menu!!

Leah D.

Yelp
I have ZERO complaints about this place. I don't know how it could possible get any better. We got the pork braised Gnocci, tomato soup and flash fried Brussels sprouts. AMAZING. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked. The pork braised sauce was perfectly rich and decadent. I could have bathed in it. I also did. The Brussels sprouts were nice and crispy with a gorgeous paprika aioli. A must order. The tomato soup was topped with this amazing olive oil. It was chunky but wasn't super smooth either. Great texture. I got a side of crustinis to dip. Highly suggest.

Yelp
If you're debating on coming to this restaurant, drop everything and hop in your car to this place!!! There was 2 of us that came in just around noon and we were sat right away. It is definitely a busy place but it is for good reason. The food that we got was SO amazing I have had some fantastic food in Greenville, and this will be added to my rotation.

Allison T.

Yelp
First time in downtown Greenville and I love this city! From and Plough continued to come up in searches and even though it is 11 min from downtown please give it your attention. Delicious menus with great eats, market items, and take home meals. I wish I had this in Charleston!

Luisa H.

Yelp
Lunch with my son was wonderful! The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned & was absolutely delicious! Didn't get a chance to take a picture of the lamb shashuka that my son ordered. He said it was delicious also. The service was great too!

Brian F.

Yelp
Really fresh and creative meal! Service was great at the bar and the relaxed scene was just right for me. I will be going back to try more options.

Tia K.

Yelp
Excellent service and food! The restaurant is very clean and chic. I love that the menu rotates often and there's a variety of things to choose from. We went for brunch and everything was very good. I recommend the short rib and oysters. The margarita was delicious and the fruit ice cube was a nice touch!

Lane H.

Yelp
The Asparagus Salad was delightful and delicious! Perfect dish for Spring! Light and fresh!

Jay S.

Yelp
Very clean and relaxed atmosphere. Service was good despite a fairly full dining room on a Friday night. The salmon dip and croquettes were good appetizers albeit a little salty. We had the pork chop with collards and the veggie plate with salmon added as a protein. Both were very good but again, a little too salty. We'll definitely return but will ask the chef to go easier on the salt.

Bill S.

Yelp
The service was great and food was delicious, and definitely hit the spot on our travel day. Highly recommend!!!

Jody P.

Yelp
Enjoyed every bit of this place! Not only a great spot for lunch, but also to purchase wine and specialty food items. Seriously kicking myself for not buying some of the blackened salmon dip!! Started out with the smoked white fish dip with crackers and we devoured every last bit. I ordered a spicy beef noodle dish that was outstanding, and enough food for plenty of leftovers. We also had the pork sandwich with black beans and the mushroom burger with fries. The consensus of the table was that the black beans were the best ever! I took everyone else's word for it as I do not like black beans. But apparently these ones are amazing! Service was wonderful, luckily, we had a reservation because it filled up quickly during lunch. The interior decor of this place is perfection! Beautiful!

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Highly recommend checking this spot out if you're in Greenville. It's a farm-to-table/local ingredients concept and their food is great. Reminded me of eating at my grandma's! Good southern food made well. The menu does change frequently, but they have a couple items I believe they keep on rotation. The cinnamon roll was worth the hype!!! Also had the country breakfast and the fried Brussels sprouts. All delicious and worth the nap we enjoyed afterwards!!

Heather E.

Yelp
If you're in or traveling through the Greenville area- this place is a MUST try. Cannot stress that enough! In an attempt to eat my way through this city Fork & Plough holds the trophy for most delicious meal. Farm to table concept equipped with local ingredients and a frequently changing menu. I love a good farm to table concept but I love it even more when that concept is done exceptionally well! We came in on Sunday for brunch. I highly recommend making a reservation. There were a few open seats at the bar but this place was packed. When making a reservation you have the option of choosing high top or standard know that if you choose high top you'll be in the bar. The inside has a welcoming ambiance, well lit and overall great environment for friends/family/kids/date night- all of the things! What's better than a creative brunch? Creative brunch cocktails of course. We had a mimosa & citrus spritz. The mimosa came with an OJ ice cube (very classy) & the citrus spritz was an aperol spritz made with grapefruit soda (my favorite). Both were awesome! We asked for a side of OJ because the ice cube wouldn't melt fast enough and I will say their OJ on its own tasted fresh squeezed- oh so good. Food menu seemed like the type of menu where everything listed was the right choice. I adore a brunch menu that goes out of its way to be unique and different! This was all of that and then some. We went with the soft shell crab Benedict & the shrimp and grits. Both were amazing! Flavor town? Absolutely accurate. The soft shell crab had the perfect crunch without being too over done. It came on a biscuit that was so mouth watering I'd order just a plate of those biscuits and be a happy camper. Being in the south, I've tried a lot of shrimp and grits but this by far has been THE BEST. The amount of flavor with every single component of this dish is seriously unmatched. Highly recommend both dishes for brunch but at the very least try a biscuit and some grits! Service was great! The bartender gave great recommendations and was very honest/genuine. If dining here isn't enough they have a whole case of local meats to take home as well! Lots of other local goodies (coffee, wine, beer to name a few). They have their own parking lot but parking was scarce. Patience will be your friend. By far the best brunch in Greenville, will be back asap for brunch or to try their dinner menu!

Riika G.

Yelp
I wouldn't suggest ordering fish here. I'm not sure if they're trying to be fancy or what, but the crab stuffed flounder was a big miss! Don't order it! It was burnt, dry, and beyond fishy. I ordered the filet medallions, and they were fine, but whatever the green stuff that looked like an animal threw it up, smelled so bad, no way I was even taste testing it.

Malorie C.

Yelp
Went here for birthday brunch... Food & drinks were great. Very crowded. Had reservations but still had to wait at least a half hour to be seated. They were out of almost everything we attempted to order.

Lori L.

Yelp
I came here for restaurant week with a friend. We did have reservations but we did wait a bit before we had a table. The hostess did apologize which was fine. We had a cute table by the window. Service was good. They had the restaurant week menu so I opted for the crispy pork belly appetizer, blackened shrimp gnocchi and the key lime pie for dessert. The pork belly app was wonderful. Very large portion. Everything combined with it was delicious. The gnocchi was good and not too heavy. My shrimp was cooked good which was much appreciated. I was too full to eat my dessert there so I asked for it to go. I didn't eat it but my husband did and he liked it. I'll definitely be back again to try their regular menu!

Madison M.

Yelp
Amazing for dinner and brunch every time - but brunch is my favorite. They're always changing the menu and the ingredients are always fresh, farm to table type style with lots of local ingredients. Huevos Rancheros is always a standout - but truly anything we've ever tried there has been great. Casual vibe, have brought our toddler before with no issues and they are very accommodating

Hannah M.

Yelp
Had brunch here at 11am on a Sunday. The menu had a good variety and the coffee was AMAZING for only $2.50 and unlimited refills. I enjoyed my order- the huevos rancheros, but it was a little heavy for me. The prices are a little steep but it does seem like they use a lot of locally sourced ingredients (ex: their coffee is roasted right down the road at Due South roasters). I loved the atmosphere and it was a super cute touch that they have fresh flowers on each table! The service was friendly and excellent, I would definitely come back here and maybe just order something a little lighter :) and def get the coffee again.

Mike L.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood to let my son evaluate Bob Jones University and saw the ratings for this place and thought we'd give it a try. Oh my. What an amazing place. The atmosphere is so warm and open. Love the look inside. See pictures. The brussel sprouts appetizer is PERFECTION. They change their menus twice a day but the salmon Caesar salad was so perfect. I love a good blend of salad and dressing and this one was perfectly blended. This is a MUST STOP if you're in the neighborhood. We definitely will be back!

Jane P.

Yelp
The atmosphere was just not to my liking. Not my kind of restaurant. I can't remember what I ordered. Parking wasn't convenient for me (in back) & trudging up a hill to enter.

Lauren G.

Yelp
If you're in Greenville, this restaurant is a must try! You will not be disappointed. Best farm to table restaurant I've been to. The menu is different everyday. The first time I went I was hooked. The food was incredible! Fork & Plough is a smaller restaurant so make a reservation to make sure that you can get a table because it will fill up. Luckily every time I went I was always able to find a seat at the bar which was a great place to meet and talk to people. I always had the best time talking to the bartenders and local people...everyone was so friendly.

Tony L.

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place and it did not disappoint. Service was prompt, friendly and very helpful. The entire staff was engaged including the chef owner. Very impressive. The sauces and seasonings were perfect. Everyone enjoyed their dish. Cocktails, beer and wine selections offered a wide variety. Wine list was impressive and reasonably priced.

Laurie I.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I wish I had not gotten the hot hoagie as it was maybe just to lumped together.I would next time get the burger. Nice little town and did I love the atmosphere and they seems very keen on keeping the place clean.I did love the onion rings with the sandwich though

John P.

Yelp
This place is consistently good and it's a great place to meet friends and family or take a date. Talented bartenders so sometimes I sit at the bar. Love that Narragansett lager. F&P has a wide array of shareables that are all good but I love the crispy Brussels sprouts and she crab soup and the crab cakes with butter bean succotash. The grilled steak or pork chop or the NC trout are my favorites. I usually pick up some fresh bread or vegetables from their market. They also have family meals that can be picked up in the evenings. Wait staff is solid and it's a cool farmhouse vibe. Everyone needs a solid place like this to frequent.

Deb M.

Yelp
We were visiting Greenville and decided to try Fork and Plough. It's a casual place that also offers a meat counter. We truly enjoyed the service and food here. It is quiet and layed back. Give the restaurant a try the next time you want a good meal and attentive service.

Kathy H.

Yelp
Food was okay, Halibut has no seasoning. desserts were less than okay, brownies were hard and dry. Banana dessert had dried banana chips not fresh bananas dessert was not good at all

Lynn L.

Yelp
Amazing food & service! Great for kids as well, lots of healthy kids food choices. We had the shrimp & grits & surf and turf. Both were phenomenal! We had the fried oysters & shrimp appetizer, it was great!

Jessica M.

Yelp
In our family's phase of life, it's a little harder find restaurants that both have a high quality level of food and an environment where we can take our small kids. We've been here 5-6 times before and always had a great experience both with food or service, but usually it was for a date night. Yesterday my husband and I brought a friend visiting from out of town, and our almost 7 month old and 3.5 year old. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating and that means so much to me as a mom! The seasonal salad right now was absolutely amazing. I could eat it every day. The brussel sprouts were fantastic as always - I get them every time. I also had a sangria that I loved. Fork and Plough has long been a favorite of ours and will continue to be! Thanks for a great experience!

Carey S.

Yelp
My husband and I have made our way around the food and restaurant scene in Greenville and have come to love fork and plough SO MUCH. The service is excellent from the sweet hostess to the overalls-bartender who is automatic with his service, recommendations and dry humor. It's a fun vibe for brunch with friends, lunch at the bar after disc golf, or a sexy date night on the patio. The menu is rotating which really threw us off at first since we like to do research on what we want to order ahead of time when going out to eat. But we've come to trust everything these guys put out. It's ALL so freakin good. You get it. We love fork!

Annette B.

Yelp
As we are thinking of moving to the area, I wanted to eat at a place that supported southern style cooking and local eats and this place came to mind. The place is very quaint with bar area too. Ella was our server in training with Amanda and they were very accommodating and nice! I got the Fried chicken and swapped out the Mac n cheese for the Brussel sprouts... ok I'm going to say the Brussel sprouts are out of this world!! Crispy/ flakey and delicious!!! The collards are definitely southern style and over cooked to my liking but it was supposed to be like that.

RA V.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience. The quinine was fresh and flavorful. The berry salad was outstanding as was the salmon dip.

K. J.

Yelp
Service was excellent. It's a good blend of casual and classy. I highly recommend the bread appetizer and the crispy brussel sprouts. The recommended peach cider was excellent.

Han H.

Yelp
Had the lobster bisque! It was very warm and nice, especially for the cold weather. The service was very good; the hostess that was working was especially nice and sweet though.

Rachel W.

Yelp
This was my second time dining at Fork & Plough, and it was disappointing. I made a reservation over a week in advance for a group of 9 people for my friend's birthday. We had to wait over 20 minutes for a table to become available then several appetizer and brunch items on the menu were sold out. It took a long time for any of the food to come out. The steak I ordered was over cooked which made it tough and difficult to eat. For a $31 dollar meal I figured it would be cooked properly. Then one person in our group got their food 10 minutes after the rest of us because they forgot to make it. After all of that, it would have been appreciated if the Manager waived the $1.50 PER PERSON cake cutting fee as a courtesy for all the mishaps, but they didn't accommodate at all. I would not recommend a large group to dine there or to go any time after 12:00 or else you'll be waiting a long time, and the food options will be subpar. The best things about the experience were the cocktails, the Brussel sprouts, and the spinach salad. Everything else fell flat. Very disappointing when you're trying to celebrate a friend and have a fun experience.

Peter R.

Yelp
Horrible in every department. Everything was a disaster... from the moment we sat down.. to trying to pay the bill so we could escape from this place. Stay away.

Amirah S.

Yelp
This place has been on my radar for quite some time, sadly disappointed. Very casual setting but reservations are highly recommended. Came in early Saturday @ 10am. Service was on point. Ordered the chicken and dumpling for starters. $10 a cup which really should've been $3 because how small the portion is, had to return it because it came out cold. Now for the mains I got the shrimp & grits and the breakfast hash. Again everything was lukewarmish.. not a fan of the hash 1/10. Shrimp & grits was grainy, there was no okra in it like described, shrimp was heavy on salt overall I give the dish 2/10. First and last time.

Kyle S.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and the wait was almost nonexistent. My wife and I had a reservation on a Tuesday at 6pm with a local, popular even happening later at 7:30. The service was exceptional. Quick, attentive and kind. We ordered the Beet starter which was tasty. We then had the Vegetable plate and the Shiitake burger. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. It was a large portion too. The burger was cooked exactly the way I ordered. It was juicy and tender but not too much so that it did not fall apart. The fries that came with it were slightly undercooked but I think this was on purpose. The outside of the fries were still crispy and very tasty. Overall, a very delicious meal and a very enjoyable time.

Michael H.

Yelp
I can't decide if it's the food, atmosphere or service I like the most. The food is to die for. It tastes like "Fine Dining " but with large portions and reasonable prices. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out with a amazing vibe. The service is always on point and is highly knowledgeable about the menu, especially the desserts....lol.

Jen A.

Yelp
You'll feel right at home at this great dining venue. The food is exceptional-- such a flavorful variety. The staff is super friendly and hustles to satisfy every customer. I'll be back.

Leesa J.

Yelp
I went to the Fork and Plough for a bridal shower. We were a party of 7. The staff members were very helpful and accommodating. We spent almost 2 hours there and we're not rushed by the staff. I ordered a strawberry arugula salad and a white chicken chili. The salad was very pretty, but did not look like it had been freshly dressed. It looked like it may have been prepped and sitting in a cooler for a couple of hours. The chili was a little too spicy for me, but in full disclosure, poblano peppers were the first ingredient listed on the description.

Jordan A.

Yelp
I had the squid ink pasta for dinner. The pasta was a little over cooked for my liking but all I bathe flavors were there. Our waiter was helpful and suggested some solid appetizers for the table. The restaurant had a small butcher shop and was all around a good atmosphere. I would recommend this place if your looking for local flavors in Greenville.

Kelly P.

Yelp
Delicious food, a little pricey but everything is so fresh and delicious! Got the feta dip starter and duck main. It did take a while for two dishes my sister and I were sharing but it was amazing!

Susan C.

Yelp
As always - amazing meal and amazing service! One of our favorites in Greenville. Everything on the menu is delicious! Wonderful place to dine for dinner or lunch!

Dave S.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We had the vegetable plates and a beet appetizer. Great food. They were a little overwhelmed and understaffed at the 1p hour, but overall it was an excellent experience. Great skinny margaritas as well.

Fram S.

Yelp
What a fantastic venue, low-cost food and incredible taste. Highly recommend us you're in town in the Greenville area. The service was quick and they were attentive, and the area was open and great ambience. The staff are outstanding.
