The Forsyth Farmer's Market happens every Saturday on the West end of Forsyth Park. I have been in attendance at this gathering of semi-local farmers every Saturday since moving to Savannah, give or take a few times. All of the vendors are so gracious and helpful and most will let you try their goods before deciding what to purchase. Other than your typical farmer's market goods, such as fresh veggies and fruit, there are vendors who offer fresh bread, handmade pasta, coffee, and even an assortment of handmade goat cheeses. The prices are all really affordable, and I never leave without a beautiful bunch of flowers that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I would have absolutely given them a five star rating, but have two exceptions. It's well known that we have an EBT monies doubling deal here, where those with Food Stamps can get double their money in tokens to spend at our Farmer's market. Come to find out, the tokens that are given for that deal are emblazoned with an EBT foods program logo, and only given in $1 token amounts. However, the tokens I've purchased with a credit card are in $5 amounts, and look wholly different. I'm just disappointed with the ousting of the financially less-fortunate by this Farmer's Market. My only other bone to pick with the Forsyth Farmer's Market is the lack of peaches! I moved to the peach state and was expecting to live off of beautifully ripe and juicy peaches for the next handful of years, and yet the "peach person" has not yet made an appearance at the Farmer's Market since I've been in attendance! Beautiful, delicious peaches, where are you?!
