Savannah, Georgia Travel Guide: A Local Expert Shares What to Do in Savannah, Georgia — Where to Stay, Shop, and Eat

"Every Saturday year-round, local farmers and vendors are set up in Forsyth Park, providing items like produce, artisan cheeses, jams, and jellies. “It’s always very seasonal, with 30-plus vendors coming out each week,” says Culberson. Bring your appetite along with you, too, for snacks as you shop. Plus, if you have kids with you, stop at the Youth Booth for free educational activities. “If you register, you get $5 per child to spend at the farmer’s market,” says Culberson." - Karen Norian

A Saturday tradition in Savannah! I buy my produce and meat here, it's wonderful to support the local small farmers! The market has grown tremendously in the past few years with local artists expanding it up to the north end of the park. A wonderful family friendly outing 😊

Google
So many great finds! It’s amazing vibe at the farmers market such a huge variety of vendors with so many fresh items! The crowd was vibrant and full of energy! Loved every moment!

One of my favorite things to do when visiting. So many great samples and friendly vendors. Seeing the art and handmade crafts is a plus! Definitely worth the trip if you’re in town.

Google
I go to this market to support the small farmers that ACTUALLY grow the food they bring to the market. Please be sure to ask your farmer questions. I know for a FACT not every farmer grows their own food. Some are buying from producers as far as California, Peru, Mexico, China, etc. I wish the Forsyth Farmers market organization was really about being a true liason for the community. How they just continue the disfunction they created, no accountability. I stand with the farmers who actually do the work...Thank you.

Google
Travellers, this is a lovely outdoor market located in gorgeous Forsythe park. The vendors are diverse, honey, organic meats and seafood, craft items, plants, local vegetables, and a lot more. We do wish there were more vendors selling in the market, but the vendors were high quality. The seafood we bought was fantastic. We will go again and we suggest you check it out. We recommend.

Google
Gone a few times and it’s always been great. It’s a good combo of local vendors that sell produce, meat, snacks, art, and everything in between.

Google
A great place for family with wonderful fresh produce. They even have activities for kids every week. Dress casual and loosely because it is hot.

Yelp
The Forsyth Farmers Market is definitely a must see, there's always a ton of vendors and different people singing and playing instruments. The prices are very reasonable, so many different things to purchase from fresh lemonade, produce and poultry. It's also nice to see so many people out just enjoying the park and scenery.

Yelp
Many vendors with great selection of fresh fruit, herb, meats, nuts, vegetables, organic selections and fresh squeezed juice.

Yelp
8-10-24 Noon Note found out about this place on the Old Town Trolley tour. It is only open on Saturdays. Obviously weather permitting as you are outside in the park. We arrived late, the hours are from 7:30 until 1pm. The good news is we got free street parking relatively close by. Once at the beginning of the market the crowds weren't so bad easy to walk. Hubby correctly suggested that we walk up one side and back down the other. Strongly suggest you bring cash, easier to buy. We bought pralines in two flavors and they gave out samples. Brought my own bags for purchases. At the last stop we got vegetables zucchini boats hubby has a recipe for. Yellow squash and Green Tomatoes, guess what we will be doing with those. Love me some fried Green Tomatoes. There was a booth taking a census on the status of the shoppers. For us it was our first time and definitely not our last. Will get here earlier next time.

Yelp
A must visit whether you're a local or visitor. This is the best way to spend a Saturday morning! There are so many fresh vegetables in such variety. I've never seen so many microgreens being sold in one spot! We enjoyed the fresh pecans, Good Graham cashew queso and nut bar, the bakery that won the James Beard award, and many artists. Start with the food side first on bull and park Ave and work your way down. Artists stay longer than the food market. It was really cool to see their token system. "The main market table on Saturday accepts debit, credit, and SNAP/EBT in exchange for non-refundable tokens that do not expire. We also double SNAP/EBT dollars." Good graham's cashew queso was the best I've ever had. I've had a lot of bad ones, lol. Truly the best creaminess consistency and flavor. I love that they add fresh pico de gallo to it. Ask for a sample! No dairy and grain free everything. I wanted to try their cookie, but it sold out already. The owners have been selling for 3 years now. Prior, she was making food for people with crohn's or other conditions with food restrictions. I included a few of my art purchases in the pictures. Not many artists were selling originals, but there were a few. I forgot to grab the name of the crochet and plant artist stand, but they were a great stop, too. Ruihan was the first name. I bought her crochet peach. My daughter loved all of them. Cute little crochet dumplings, mushrooms, squid, cats, and octopus.

Yelp
Lots of local fare from pecans and vegetables to meats and cheeses! If you walk around the park you will also find local artists selling their work! It's a fun start to your Saturday. Most vendors are there weekly if you find something you love...you can buy it again! Dog friendly!

Yelp
Pros: There are a lot of food vendors. A lot of alternative lifestyle stands. A lot of people. Nice setting in Forsyth Park. Cons: Most prices are higher than supermarket. (I thought they would be lower due to eliminating the middlemen.} A lot of alternative lifestyle stands. A lot of people.

Yelp
I love everything about Forsyth Park, and the Farmers market is one of our favorite Saturday activities. Having a beautiful park to walk through and vendor to shop through out the year from fresh fish and meats to produce is perfect. The farmers market also has a youth booth and does a food stamp program where they double ur stamps to get even more fresh produce.

Yelp
The many local vendors have amazing fresh vegetables and foods. The vendors are kind and polite. The ambiance is relaxed and friendly.

Yelp
Paint a picture of a farmers market and what comes to mind is farm to table where one pays a premium for locally source goods and produce. Because of that I usually expect quaint pretty layouts especially in Forsyth Park. There's a certain haphazard arrangement in the stalls here that doesn't show it at the best light. Maybe because of COVID. Part of one's experience is the presentation and I just didn't bother today cause I wasn't attracted to check out the stalls.

Yelp
Great selection of meats, produce, baked goods, and more in a beautiful setting. The park is lively and active on Saturday mornings and market only adds to the energy.

Yelp
This was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. The hosts were friendly and lively. The food samples were amazing - from smoked meat to fresh baked bread and cheese. Lots of space to stretch out and beautiful scenery.

Yelp
Loved it. It's a great variety of vendors. I highly recommend this market. I would definitely go again when in this area.

Yelp
Found ourselves here late Saturday morning on the first Saturday in October.... Sounds like that should be a song. And even mix of local produce, local businesses and of course kettle corn. Most merchants except the cash as well as debit card so come out and support local businesses.

Yelp
Growing up farmers markets have always been a fun way to spend time as a family usually resulting in getting some of the best fresh produce and a little snack to help you shop. And between the huge farmers markets in Europe with the freshest of fresh produce and even some of the farmers markets in the Pacific Northwest I've grown up quite spoiled when it comes to farmers markets. So once I finally realized they had a farmers market I'm Savannah at Forsyth Park I've tried to make it my mission to go check it out. This past Saturday we finally went, they had entertainment from the Army's band singing songs which was cute. And there were a good amount of vendors though for me this market was still pretty small. But what I think I also love about farmers markets and this is usually anywhere is that the vendors are really nice and truly know their products. Some of my favorite findings here were locally made jams, locally grown produce though I wish there would of been more fruit options and off course the baked goods( I'm a sucker for some good pastries), oh and before I forget my son's favorite stand was definitely the Savannah Pops. Heads up they're open until 1 but start breaking down shortly before that. Also, we made the mistake once of trying to check this place out right before they closed and the selection is tremendously less than if you were to come bright and early. But all in all it was nice to finally see and to be able to experience. This farmers market is in the perfect location, you can enjoy what the market has to offer and then take a stroll through Forsyth Park.

Yelp
It was a great break just walking around and sampling things. Bought everything from, boiled peanuts, meat from Hunter Farms, pecans, goat cheese and sourdough bread. Good times for sure!

Catherine G.

Yelp
A nice variety of organic vegetables, honey, coffee and artwork. A drizzly day so that may be why it seemed there weren't a lot of vendors. Did see lots of folks walking with their dogs tho, so nice bonus there.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this market when we were in Savannah. There was such a wide variety of goods for sale! Some of the items we saw: -Pizza and pasta sauce -Pasta (ravioli, lasagna, etc) -Vegetables -Fruits -Bee related products -Fresh dog feood -Meat (beef and pork) -Fresh baked breads and pastries -Coffee -Nuts It's nice to see the park lively! Items were a little on the pricey side, but this is the perfect spot for foodies that love to cook.

Yelp
This farmer's market was truly a bummer. I love farmer's markets and whenever I visit a town I look for them. It's pretty small, maybe if that 20 vendors. The variety didn't stand out much to me. For the size of Forsyth Park, I would think it would be the best location ever. I wish there was more, but oh well. It was still perfect to walk around the park!

Yelp
Super cute place where everyone comes and sells their trinkets. Weather makes it so much better. We will definitely come back soon.

Yelp
This is a great way to start your Saturday in the beautiful Forsyth Park and get your grocery list. I pick up my fresh greens from the array of local providers and restock my coffee from local roasters. In addition, you can get local chèvre, nuts, plus more. For tourists, it is a great place to pick up a gift for your foodie friends.

Yelp
Pretty mid level of selection, but what's there is great! We tried some of the fresh tomatoes and they were great.

Andrew J.

Yelp
Great stroll straight through the park with some awesome local vendors. Compost anyone? They have it here too. Veggies, art, crafts, honey, pastries... Plenty of things to try. 4-stars because there wasnt a coffee vendor the week I visited.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little farmers market. A lot smaller than I thought it would be but I hear they try to make it somewhat exclusive. Lots of fresh veggies, breads, meats, cheeses, honey and hams. Pretty decent amount of selection but some booths seems pretty repetitive although each one offers a couple more items that the other ones wouldn't so that keeps it interesting. Had some good finds and could've spent a lot more money but I had to hold on them tight to my wallet! Really though pretty neat place and I'll for sure be back with some bags to load them up! Plus the PERC booth is there so how could you not wanna go???
google avatar

Yelp
You HAVE to go early to get the watermelon juice! It's amazing but sells out quick. All of the vendor are so humble and knowledgeable I would spend all day talking with them. Great people, great produce, great farmers market!
google avatar

Jessie C.

Yelp
From local veggies, fruit, meat, coffee, eggs, artisan chocolate and more, this farmer's market has it all! Some of the vendors accept card, while all accept cash. Run out of cash? Have no worries! You can use a debit or credit card at the front booth in exchange for tokens that all vendors will accept. Everything is local and delicious. The vendors are friendly, and I highly recommend getting to know them all, for they each have their own special product!

Yelp
This is a smaller, completely lovely farmer's market in Forsyth Park. It sidelines the walkway that runs through the park, and there are maybe 20ish vendors. The vendors span many different kinds of food stuffs--from the traditional locally-grown produce one might expect, to eggs, meats, honey, watermelon juice, and cheeses. I was surprised to find that there were no prepared foods available (food truck style) for purchase--we stopped by hoping to grab a quick lunch. Overall, the location and the variety of the produce and foods available makes it a great choice to stop by, especially if you're a local and are looking to stock your kitchen.

Yelp
On my last day in Savannah I stumbled upon this farmers market and it truly was something different that what I see in my local community. The offerings of fresh vegetables, carrots, greens, potatoes ect were shocking to see in such abundance. All of the vendors were very proud to be providing locally grown and sources items, and all were very informative about any information that they felt the patrons would want to know. There were a few things such as as grass fed steaks and sausages that I wish I could have taken on the plane with me when I left! Great local farmers market - If you are in the area, look up this event!!

Yelp
Though a small selection, and a little pricey, I like to support farmers markets. However, 5 stars for Sprout Mama's Breads. Being the bread freak that I am, I have always been bummed at the lack of good bread in Savannah. No more! At 8 bucks a loaf, it is ridiculously expensive, but the kalamata loaf is the best bread I have had in recent years. OMG crusty and well done outside, soft inside, salty olives throughout. I could live on this. Try it. I think they are based in HHI or Bluffton and are at the Bluffton market. So freaking good.

Yelp
Love this Farmer's Market! Honey, produce, lots of baked goods! Really amazing place - a must if you're in the area! Combined with a lovely stroll through Forsyth Park there's no better activity for a beautiful Saturday morning!

Yelp
Very nice. This day was a busy day due to an event in the park. There was good local stuff to buy. There were plenty of folks partaking. We have plenty of these in Charleston and I think this one is par which is good. Really great for towns to allow this type of venue to exist. And being next to the park makes it even nicer.

Katie S.

Yelp
It was just ok. I'm from St. Louis and we have an amazing farmers market in the city so I thought this one would have to be even better. It wasn't. There aren't many vendors and a lot of them sell pretty much the same thing, bread/pastry. I personally only saw one vegetable stand and a couple places for honey. So if that's what you're looking for this is definitely the place. Beautiful park and beautiful monument (that was unfortunately vandalized). Worth a walk through if already in the area

Yelp
The Forsyth Farmer's Market happens every Saturday on the West end of Forsyth Park. I have been in attendance at this gathering of semi-local farmers every Saturday since moving to Savannah, give or take a few times. All of the vendors are so gracious and helpful and most will let you try their goods before deciding what to purchase. Other than your typical farmer's market goods, such as fresh veggies and fruit, there are vendors who offer fresh bread, handmade pasta, coffee, and even an assortment of handmade goat cheeses. The prices are all really affordable, and I never leave without a beautiful bunch of flowers that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I would have absolutely given them a five star rating, but have two exceptions. It's well known that we have an EBT monies doubling deal here, where those with Food Stamps can get double their money in tokens to spend at our Farmer's market. Come to find out, the tokens that are given for that deal are emblazoned with an EBT foods program logo, and only given in $1 token amounts. However, the tokens I've purchased with a credit card are in $5 amounts, and look wholly different. I'm just disappointed with the ousting of the financially less-fortunate by this Farmer's Market. My only other bone to pick with the Forsyth Farmer's Market is the lack of peaches! I moved to the peach state and was expecting to live off of beautifully ripe and juicy peaches for the next handful of years, and yet the "peach person" has not yet made an appearance at the Farmer's Market since I've been in attendance! Beautiful, delicious peaches, where are you?!

Megan C.

Yelp
I was excited to visit this market after reading about the many vendors and variety of goods. In actuality it was small and didn't have many options outside of regular produce stands and a few local farms. There wasn't a large number of foods to eat there (bakeries, food trucks, coffee, etc).
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
Came to try it out and like the prior review stated, maybe 20ish vendors. The thing that caught my eye was that most of the vendors had expensive prices compared to the local grocery store. Just an example, $1 for each bell pepper, 10$ for a small basket (maybe 6 peaches). So be aware that it's expensive.
