Yelp
Booked this hotel based on the reviews on here and Yelp and the fact that it is an IPREFER hotel.. I don't know anything about the location because I have no knowledge of it.... We have been so disappointed. I called the day before I made the booking to get further understanding of the amenities residents/vs hotel clients. It was most important to me that the pool was available and that they had a spa.. I rarely have time off and I was pumped to have Sun and pool time!! Spa was listed on the website, yet very, very vague, (when it came to answering questions to the reviews). I wanted to get menu's and pricing on things prior to flying in and to make a booking. I also put in my reservation that I needed some recommendations on area wine stores. Nothing was sent to me in advance. (I also called the hotel for this). When we arrived to the hotel, the check in was SO AWKWARD!!. We have never been here before. We had no idea where the elevators where.. We asked for ice. We are celebrating an anniversary and we always bring some special bottles with us that we wanted to cool down in the room. We made the person behind the desk aware that I had asked for recommendations and we were told there was a wine store across the street (there is; however, we needed something with variety of burgundy and champagnes). In the room, we are staying in 1102. The room is very, very small..@ My husband was using the bathroom, I was using the sink/makeup area and the door literally pushes you out of that space. The staff had a bottle of Chardonnay placed in an ice bucket, 3 chocolate covered strawberries on the tv stand prior to our arrival which was a nice touch. The view from the room is great- of a green space and Ponce Market (which we will head over to today and check out).
We never received the ice that we asked for at the desk, so we went down to ask for it again. We also asked for pricing information on the mini bar items in our room. The staff at the desk emailed it to us and the spa information. It came 30 min later. We went down to check out the pool. When we arrived, we were told that the pool was closed because a child tripped and fell on a tile and had to go to the hospital to have stitches.. The pool itself would be closed, but you could sit out by the pool.
Later last night, we got an email that the pool would be closed for an undetermined amount of time but you could go and sit by the pool. You need a reservation to sit at the pool so my husband made one Saturday and Sunday.. (we were also told that I could come earlier that 10 am). Sat night we walked thru Midnight on the top floor. Staff was pleasant, we were told that we could sit outside.. Every table was dirty with empty glasses, and we sat at a dirty table/couch. No server rounded. We took some pictures, as the skyline was beautiful, and then went to Bar Primo which was closed. No food options available after 11pm except Uber and Door Dash. We walked thru the Italian restaurant on the first floor. It was about 1/2 full, very warm in there. There were numerous people enjoying cocktails on couches and seated area. Sunday morning: (today) I got up and went to Bar Primo to get some breakfast since there is no room service information in our room. The menu on the counter by the register is what I ordered off from. I paid the bill. I asked how far do I have to walk to buy a coke? He said " Oh, I can get you a Coke". I said there are no soft drinks on the menu. He obtained a can of Coke and I paid for that. I packaged the food in a brown bag and I was informed that they have room service, but there is no menu, "just pick up the phone and ask for what you want to eat" . Well, it would have been great to know that previously!! Back to room to give hubby coffee and breakfast. Eggs were very, very good. Had a chocolate croissant and a regular croissant (both were day old). Went down to the pool. Did a walk around. I can clearly see how someone would trip on the tiles here.. some of them are not secured down When you step on some of them they pop up and then fall down and make a clunk noise.. Since I arrived here prior to anyone else, I secured a chair. I watched as people came in and were serviced with having lounge towels placed for them.. Everyone was serviced. No one came to inquire if I would like one. I waited a while. Nothing. I went upstairs to my room and grabbed the bath towels out of the room and spread those over the lounges. A worker made a comment, did you want a lounge cover? I said yes, but no one offered, so I went to get the towels from my room as it seemed like it was a "bother ". Someone came and asked me if I would like water- gave me the option of still or sparking. I replied still. And she never came back. Server Gabby came 45 minutes later and checked on me. She offered me water and brought some to me.. I assume the drink/food menu is on a square tile. No one has offered me one as of yet. I will update as the day goes along.
