"Fortress BeerWorks, a new brewery set to open this fall, will be the 49th in the Houston area. Located in a 6,600-square-foot industrial space, it will feature a taproom and allow patrons to take beer away in crowlers. The brewery will offer a variety of beers including a double IPA, blonde ale, witbier, and its signature Smash IPA, with plans for more seasonal and special releases. Although it won't have a kitchen, local food trucks will be available. Fortress BeerWorks will operate from Thursday through Sunday." - Alaena Hostetter

Alecc was outstanding! From the moment my family and I sat down, he brought an energy and professionalism that instantly made us feel at home. He wasn’t just a server—he was a true host. Friendly, attentive, and full of genuine hospitality, Alecc took time to connect with us, not just take our order. We ended up having a great conversation about the hospitality industry, his passion for great service, and—of course—his love for steaks. You can tell he’s the kind of person who takes pride in making people feel welcome and appreciated. That kind of heart is rare and made our time at Fortress Beerworks even more memorable. While sipping our drinks and playing darts with the family, it felt like Alecc was part of the experience—not just a part of the staff. If you’re headed to Fortress, do yourself a favor and ask for Alecc. He’s the kind of server that makes you want to come back. Thank you, Alecc, for making our night something special!

I stumbled on this place by accident and what a wonderful time I had here! Everything about this place was on point in my opinion there was a lot of room a lot of places to sit indoor & outdoor good delicious cold beer on tap good delicious pizza freshly made the employees had great customer service the restrooms were clean,The owner was also pretty cool they have art pieces in front of the building I was welcomed the first minute I stepped into the establishment. I mean, just a great spot overall. So I highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to hang out rather it’s during the day or at night time and you like good beer and you like fresh pizza give them a try. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Google
Nice little craft brewery. Beers were clean and very good. They also have an excellent pizza truck outside. Oh and a dart board. We came on trivia night so we were also entertained.

Google
Good beer and great atmosphere! They have darts and big tables. Would be good for just hanging out or a big party. They allow dogs but better for them in the summer when they open the doors.

Google
I'll return. Great place with a couple of dart boards and a few TVs. Good beer and pizzas available to order. Had the Hazy IPA which was one of the better Hazies I've ever had. Nice and knowledgeable staff. Would've loved a Tshirt to commemorate my visit but they were out of L and XL.

Google
An absolutely great place. Had been eyeballing this place and even got a recommendation to visit. Definitely glad I did. Wonderful atmosphere and great people. Not much of a selection but what they do elhave is all great so it does kinda even out. Would definitely recommend stopping bybif you're near. Really enjoyed their Salvador (Mexican lager) and their SMASH Ipa

Google
Cool spot for craft beer. They have live music that’s not too loud and a big area to sit. There is a good variety of beer although none of them blew me away. They have a Golden Tee machine and small arcade in a side room. Will come back with a group of friends when the weather is nice.

Google
This is a great local joint in Spring, TX. The selection of beer is fantastic and enough for anyone in your party to find something they like. The Tower grill, the Fortresse's in house food and catering service, has a great selection. Did I mention they are very dog friendly? Their slogan is to bring the kids and dogs as long as the kids are leashed.

Yelp
Did not start out great...Super hard to find! Passed it several times. I've included a picture of where to turn. The semi-off-roading experience driving up the long driveway did not reassure me that I had found the spot either. Limited parking spaces were even more limited due to giant potholes filled with water. I had to move my car because once I parked I couldn't get out without getting my shoes soaked. Venue itself is a huge warehouse space. Large shaded deck spans the building. Tables are picnic tables. Great airflow inside with large fans. There is a separate room attached to the large main hall with some high tops and foosball table. Live music this evening with local youth bands from School of Rock. Other touches around the room reinforced their community support (local art on the walls, silent auction for a charity). Great beer selection- B52 beers ranging from IPAs, Pils, Ale, coffee porter. I tried the Bishop Crackberry Cider- just enough sweetness and perfect for the summer night. Service was nice. Food is served outback from a food truck: They give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait around outside waiting for them to call your name. I shared a Chicken Vindaloo pizza with one other person. Portion size was perfect for 2 adults. Although it promised "tongue searing curry" it totally lacked spice. The Indian flavors were there though. Just don't promise me tongue searing- and it's ketchup level spicy. Thin crust was topped with chicken, Black Truffle Ricotta, Mozzerella, Basil- it was an unexpected exotic flavor to find at a traditional brewery.

Yelp
Enjoyed the time we spent here yesterday. All around good vibes. From the beer to the food to the atmosphere. There is about 14 beers on tap, they also have food. The beers were great. We tried several different ones. My favorite one was the Smash'D IPA. The wings were so good. They also have pizza but we went for the wings bc we had dinner plans and wanted something small. I enjoyed the Buffalo sauce. They also have 2 other wing flavors. Can't remember off the top of my head. There is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. I can't wait for patio weather to enjoy the outdoor seating. There is also trivia on Wednesdays and Bingo on Sundays. Looking forward to coming back!

Alicia K.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the brews and the excellent pizza. The server was nice and explained everything to us first-timers. Everything was clean, and the metal sculpture decor was fantastic! Thank you to the server and cook for allowing us veggie lovers to modify the white. It was so yummy! We hope to return someday, but maybe not on a big event weekend. We're a little old for such shenanigans, but I'm sure others had a blast!

Yelp
After work, I stopped by Fortress Beer Works for happy hour and was delighted with my experience. The menu was easy to navigate, and I opted to try their cider, which had an excellent taste. The atmosphere of the place was enjoyable, and there were ample seating options, both covered and outdoor. However, the drive into the place was a bit challenging as the road was uneven and bumpy. Parking is a problem especially if it is crowded - you may need to park on the grass, but some areas of the grass were sunken, so drivers of lower cars should be cautious.

Yelp
Wow, I never knew this local microbrewery was here. I used to live in this area around the time they opened in 2019. Fortress Beerworks bought out B52 last year and finally took over in October 2022. I learned that both entities will run their unique ways. I remember B52 having CBD options and was a family and dog friendly place. Fortress Beerworks was family friendly. I didn't see anyone with their dogs, but maybe! One of my childhood friends threw her birthday get together here to chill and mingle. You can reserve their indoor picnic tables. Balloons and cake are welcome! It's off Spring Cypress, but you can easily pass it up if you're not looking at the sign near the Park & Sell. Follow the rocky dirt path down to the end and to the left. Just be careful cause it barely fits two vehicles for one way in and out. Parking on the rocky lot is open, but people seemed respectful of space and how to park. It was empty, but a few people came and went. There was a small party bus that came with guys in track suits. Turns out, it was my friend's pediatrician for her boys, and they were also celebrating a birthday with a few people from New Zealand. Anyway, they've got TVs to catch sports games, live music, and cornhole tournaments. I was bummed the food menu online didn't match what they actually offered. They didn't have appetizers or burgers. The wood fired pizza from Fiamma was the bomb though! It's a food truck. You order food at the bar. Can't go wrong with pizza and beer. I had the white pizza with black truffle ricotta and roasted garlic. The garlic was sweet, and the truffle was just enough. I added pepperoni and mushrooms. Extra toppings are free!! The 12" pizza was served in a pizza box and was ready in 10 mins or less. You get a text notification to pick up at the food truck. One of my fellow Yelp elites would say the pizza didn't have a good undercarriage cause you pick it up, and it flops. You kind of have to fold it. It still tasted really good. I read the wood fired pizza and bbq will be a staple. Curious to see what bbq. I wish it was Corkscrew nearby!! I had the rotating sour beer cause I'm into sours. I had the passion fruit sour. I didn't taste much of the passion fruit flavor, but it was the perfect tartness imo. I hope they'll have the hibiscus sour next time I visit. Beer and cider are $6.50-7. I tried my friend's Viking Blonde and that was light and not hoppy. I enjoyed that. They closed the garage doors as the night went on cause it got chilly, and their heat lamps weren't working, but they did have a heater. The only catch is that you have to walk around the side door to exit to get back to the lot. There's extra party space there that I saw on my way out. Overall, it's a very chill, cool place to gather with friends, catch a game, or throw a party.

Yelp
Fortress is a little out of the way for me, but I would make the trekk out there again. I liked their IPA, they had big tv's to watch some football, and the food truck that looks to be there permantly; provided for some tasty pizza. Apparently they sometimes have some live music too, on certain days. The funcky metal artwork is a nice touch too. You can muse over the art pieces while sipping on your brew. Slurp slurp burrp.

Jason S.

Yelp
Best place to come to on beautiful warm days. Great beer and awesome pizza. I got a flight of beers and a chicken vindaloo pizza. Pizza is delicious!

Bob P.

Yelp
Found these guys from Harvest Host, which is a travel RV app. What a great find!! Great ambiance, great service, top of the notch brewery which makes phenomenal beer. It is a locals place that was as welcoming as it was good. They also have a Wood-fired pizza truck that is the best we've had in a long time. Thanks to the owners for being Harvest Hosts! We sure appreciated the space and the family atmosphere!!

Stephen S.

Yelp
What a great brewery! No complaints on the beer but the best part of this place was the atmosphere. They had great food trucks and other vendors. Michelada, pizza and even CornHub . They also have live music, nice bartenders, a great open back patio/garage style drinking area and shuffle board inside.

David H.

Yelp
I have been going here several years to enjoy their brews and have a few snacks (can't beat a fried pretzel). I will have to say the beer keeps getting better with the Smash, Pilsner, and Blonde as a few favorites....if you can get your hands on a can of their Pecan Porter, I highly recommend if you like Porters. What surprised me recently was how well they do with special events. We had a "beer dinner" there where that they collaborated with the restaurant Refuge to put together a 5-course food and beer pairing menu! Pictures are included....This is not your average icehouse!!!

Yelp
WHAT AN AWESOME HIDDEN GEM! Did a bit of day drinking and stumbled across this puppy. Definitely a lot more children than anticipated and seems to have a lot of families that come out here.. nonetheless this place is an awesome brewery. There are so many bad ass welding art pieces that Definitely caught my eye! Inside is open and spacious.. super modern. When you walk towards the bathroom, there is a little art gala for everyone to see. Pieces made from bottle caps that show off Houston's pride. Recommend for a date night, out with friends and for families. They have corn hole and is dog friendly!

T. Clar K.

Yelp
This is a cool place! They have very good beer that is brewed on site and they have knowledgeable staff that can walk you through what would fit your particular taste. I've been here two times this year and both times I was super impressed. It's a low key vibe with TVs, darts and plenty of room for great conversation. I would recommend if you want a place that is laid back to enjoy a great beer. Their food truck has good pizza too!

Audra H.

Yelp
A legit place to come for some brew and fun times with the family. They have about 8 beers on tap. I got a ginger cider (which is not their brew, but amazing!). Additionally, I got a porter and it was great as well. I wasn't as thrilled about the blonde or the IPA. But that wouldn't prevent me from coming here because the other two beers were amazing! The ambience is causal and fun. They have plenty of seating and the seating is picnic tables and rustic and perfect. Generally it's not too loud. Although they do have live music on Saturdays and I came on Friday so the noise level may be louder then. An awesome perk is that they have a food truck and when it's Pambo's tacos, they're amazing! I got chicken tacos and the chicken was super tender and flavorful. Finally, service is friendly and efficient. They will give you samples to decide which beer yo want to go with, which is awesome! A bonus is they have life size connect four game, corn hole (if it's not rainy) & a TON of board games like: life, battleship, etc

Richard W.

Yelp
No, I would never recommend this place ever. They are complete, bullshit, arrogant, and not friendly. There's a lot of places to go other than this place I would stay clear.

Mary V.

Yelp
What a find! Tucked down a dirt road with fields around it and a very open atmosphere, this is a very relaxing spot to stop, drink a few beers, perhaps grab a bite to eat and visit with friends. Beer selection is very good, with multiple different kinds from which to choose. Each of us grabbed a different brew and we were all pleased with our choice. Very friendly staff! Lots of large tables and outdoor seating. Dog friendly, too. A food truck is on site, and from what we could ascertain, it's there permanently. QR code on each table to pull up the menu and order. Private parties are allowed. When we were here, a block of large tables were marked as "Reserved" when we got there. Shortly after, a retirement party gathering commenced using those reserved tables. Nice touch! Definitely worth a stop. Off of Spring Cypress Road, not far west of I45. Easy to get to, other than the fact that -- remember -- you do go down a bumpy dirt road. Keep this in mind, and drive slowly since there will be plenty of refreshments for you when you arrive!

Jose L.

Yelp
First time visiting this hidden gem and enjoyed the brews I tried, the atmosphere & friendly knowledgeable staff. I had the Viking Blonde it was smooth easy light drink with hints of grapefruit and lemon & the Watchtower Wit a Belgian White that had taste of sweet orange peel and coriander, similar to blue moon but better. There is food ordering on site for some quick grub. Good place to safely gather & enjoy some darts, Cornhole or live music when available. Check their website for details.

Shauna B.

Yelp
Nice local business to enjoy local brews, street food (tacos, fries, etc), nice weather, and a few outdoor games (cornhole). Would recommend this place for anyone wanting to enjoy a fun afternoon outside.

Elies S.

Yelp
We always enjoy Fortress BeerWorks! Both for family outings and date nights. Good beer and now they have the Fortress food truck. Love music the weekends, open space and air. I mean what else can you ask for?! We wish the bags and games were back though. It was nice to hang out and play something while drinking. Originally it was one of the reasons we always came. We're from Grand Rapids, mi and miss the breweries/bar scenes with all the games.

Holly S.

Yelp
I can't believe this place has been here 2 years and I just now found out about it! Great beer and some good alternatives for the non beer drinker and the FOOD is AMAZING! Go on Tuesday and get their Birria tacos!!!!

Duke S.

Yelp
I have been to a few brewpubs in Houston and in just one visit, Fortress has become my favorite. The location is great and it has a backwoods ambience, which is surprising since it is so close to Spring Cypress. Be sure to follow the signage since it is around back. Beer selection (I need to get a photo on my next visit):. Wit, IPA, Blonde, and a Porter are all brewed in-house. They also had a Cider on tap, but I believe that was brought in. Each beer had a nice write up and after trying all 4, my preference is the Wit (since I like beer with a hint of fruit). Food selection:. The brewpub partners with food trucks as they do not have a kitchen. While I was there, I saw two trucks (one rotated out at 6 pm, and the other arrived 15 minutes later). It is a cool concept, but also creates a bit of ambiguity since you don't know the style and quality that is going to be there. Speaking to another patron, the brewpub also encourages ordering food togo, so that could be a good option as well. Overall, it was a great first visit and I will definitely be there again. I promise next time will take photos!

John P.

Yelp
Love this place ! Have had the best times here. Beer is great, pizza is amazing. Service is fast and ambiance is freaking awesome. Will keep going back

Novey G.

Yelp
This place is so fun! Great beers, vibe, ambiance, music, and service! Family friendly establishment is a plus! We saw some guy named JB Barnett playing and he was amazing!! *****

Alicia V.

Yelp
As a Houstonian..I was thrilled to find this brewery in Spring. It was sort of hidden...but once you turn the corner you find this beautiful brewery. Inside and outside patios for plenty of seating.. plenty of beers!

Kate F.

Yelp
Came here with the whole family and brought one of my dogs. I really enjoyed the atmosphere- live music, family friendly, etc. The beer was great, and also got some Greek food from one of the food trucks that was spot on. Can't wait to come back.

B R.

Yelp
These guys are great. No frills and laid back covered pole barn with big doors and fans. Plenty of picnic table seating both inside and out. Ample room for kids to run around. They have games and occasional live music. Quality food truck onsite. Really excited that they've recently paired up with B52 brewery and are now offering some of their creative craft beers too.

Ryan W.

Yelp
Went here for a Houston Newfoundland Dog get together. I NEVER go to bars or beer gardens. I had an amazing time. Attentive bar staff, good beer, NICE people and the food truck was a home run. They are very dog and child friendly, so much that I plan on going back!

Janne T.

Yelp
A perfect place for those who are tired of staying and would like a safe, open space to have a great brew. It was our first time to visit last week and we loved it so much that we came back two days later. The place was a little hard to find if you're relying on google maps, so slow down as you come close to the area. Their signs will tell you exactly where you need to turn. It's tucked behind the main street which gives it a quiet, backwood vibe. The food was amazing but from what I understand, they operate separately from Fortress so that's a separate review. But the beer and food combo?! It's perfection! Not a huge selection on tap but, that's a good thing for someone who likes to keep things simple. Looking forward to tasting more of their creations.

Paul Z.

Yelp
Great setting and very good beer and a very good selection of food I was very pleasantly surprised. Not the easiest place to find - maybe larger or more prominent signage would help? Hoping the Misfit Outpost collab is as good as the Fortress location

Courtney S.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Love the atmosphere! My husband and I came on a Friday night with my parents to celebrate a birthday and we had a great time! Live music, great beer on tap (per my husband), affordably priced food and drinks; a really chill, comfortable and welcoming place to go! I had their hard cider and I loved it. I'm not a huge beer drinker but the cider I had was so yummy, I had 4 glasses. We will absolutely be back!

Andrea P.

Yelp
Really cool environment. We had one small incident there but the owner reached out to me to let me know that he looked into the matter. Its a new day and glad to say we will be going back. Great beer there!

Bill B.

Yelp
An amazing place. Great great beer, fun customers and informative staff. It was Halloween weekend and everyone but me were dressed up. There were 3 catholic cardinals there that Saturday night. I will go out of my way to visit the Brewery again. I stayed there with Harvest Host a RV Overnight program.

Kristen H.

Yelp
I love fortress! Even during quarantine they were able to turn into a drive in movie theater that we still visited frequently. Their beer is great, with great atmosphere and always a good food truck too!

Rachel L.

Yelp
Up until last week I had no idea there was a brewery so close to home. I had a friend driving his RV through Spring and he used Harvest Host to find a brewery to park his RV at for the night for free while enjoying everything they had to offer. Several friends of ours met him up there and we made an evening of it. I tried a flight of beer which included both of their IPAs, a pale ale and a Hefeweizen. I really enjoyed the first three and stuck with their Double IPA the rest of the night. My friend and his wife tried all eight of the beers with two flights and he preferred the Double IPA even though he's not typically an IPA fan and his wife liked the pineapple ginger cider the best. It was a bit chilly that night and they had all three garage doors open but they had heaters going which did the trick. They had a live band which was pretty good, corn hole, giant Connect Four and a food truck. While it's nice to have a food option, I wasn't impressed with the food truck. I ordered just brisket and it was $18 after tip. My friends ordered the hush puppies and they said they were delicious but $1 a piece. We spoke to Rob Flemming several times throughout the night while he was checking up on us. We mainly stayed around the fire pit. They had several picnic tables outside but I would recommend bringing folding chairs to use around the pit. They close at 10 but we stayed out til 11. The owners were gracious hosts and I highly recommend Fortress. The turn is easy to miss off of SpringCypress so def use Google maps or a similar service. Also, the road is full of potholes so take it slow at night.

Mikah C.

Yelp
The food, service, and ambiance were all great. The beers were solid, paired great with the unique fusion pizza offerings.

Rob E.

Yelp
Came out for a couple of beers on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We love Fortress. Only negative is the DJ. Just awful. Fortress could save a few bucks and just play a sound track.

Sarah L.

Yelp
It would be a zero star only becauof the guy with the guy with the red cast. Never again will i go to this brewery again. It was a table of 14 vs 4 where me and my best friend husband and the other 14 kept approaching our table and then when i was trying to close out my tab the guy with a red cast came yelling at me to FUCKING CLOSE OUT MY TAB AND LEAVE mind you it was only 12.99. The lady who was part of the group of 14 ran towards the end of the bar and yet no one came up to her but up to me. Hmmm i wonder why... that group kept coming to our table throughout the night and i asked to just leave us be before and no one stopped them. This is my first and very last time to visit this brewery i wanted to try their crawfish but this experience i feel i understand where I'm just money and will never be a loyal consumer to this Buisness. I have edited this initial post because it was posted more about HOW I felt profiled at this place of Buisness. The owner however did call and speak with my best friend and her his who are regulars so at least they did address their experience. But like this business has expressed to me i shall fuck off now because of how I felt. Will still support local business.

Amanda V.

Yelp
Tried this place out for the first time last weekend. Be careful getting there b/c there are ALOT of potholes. Otherwise I was a little bummed when I was told the poutine was seasonal and I am just putting this as a heads up for anyone else looking to try this dish. I had their seasonal watermelon cider and it was DELICIOUS. Also had some loaded cheese fries and it was a good portion for the price. This is a nice place, plenty of outdoor seating, dog friendly, but it does get pretty muddy when it rains. All in all I would go back as long as they have a cider option, otherwise the rest of the menu also looks delicious!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Amazing beer amazing atmosphere and amazing food all around love this place definitely one of my top 5 favorite breweries in Houston!

Josh H.

Yelp
Fortress BeerWorks is a pretty snazzy part of town. Definitely off the path a bit as I almost missed the turn off, but I was plesantly surprised when I found the place! This awesome beergarden has everything you need: food trucks, cornhole, seats galore and the most important... good beer. I ended up trying their Nitro porter (yummmm) and their blonde (also solid). Beers go for 5 bucks a pint and the staff was really nice and welcoming. 5 stars!

Ana A.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this brewery! It has a great selection of beers. I tried the Pineapple cider and it was very flavorful. The live music was great and the food truck was legit. I will definitely be coming back.

April L.

Yelp
High five to this local brewery! They hit all of my check marks! Good for family's- check, good for dates- check, good for food -check, good for drinks-check and Covid safe-check!!! Yay, I can't wait it go back.

Randall P.

Yelp
Great beer! Awesome selection. Food trucks are good when they are there. They need a safe place for Kids to play, that isn't roped off near the parking.

John H.

Yelp
Beer is pretty good - but don't come here hungry. Their "kitchen" is a disgrace. Thru an afternoon we ordered pretzels, quesadillas, greek tacos and Mac and cheese nuggets. Nothing was warm, pretzels... how do you screw up pretzels... Like I said, beer is fine, but the kitchen is hurting this business.

Jessica C.

Yelp
Great bones for a brewery. Open air so it can get a bit hot, the server was friendly and the beer was tasty! They need more food options, but the Mexican food truck that was there was legit delicious. Family friendly establishment.

Allison O.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Amazing beers on tap! Amazing atmosphere. Also can't go wrong with outdoor and inside sitting. Also dog friendly.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Our local go to. An incredible atmosphere, & amazingly friendly staff. The blonde and honey Amber are my favorites. But overall, excellent family-friendly place

Robert R.

Yelp
One of the greatest places in spring to hang out. I can't wait til all this madness ends and we can resume our normality. Hang in there guys. We will all persevere!!!!

Matthew M.

Yelp
This is our families go to spot. Great atmosphere. Easily one of the better facilities of all the breweries in Houston. Great variety of beer/cider/wine options. The owners could not be nicer. Lots of parking and good food options. Great addition to the Spring/Klein community.

Tobin E.

Yelp
Very typical of local breweries. That rustic, minamilist feel. Ok beers. Decent prices for a pint. Plastic cups, unless you want to buy their pint glass. I brought my own and they filled it. Decent food truck. No flights, but they give free samples. Currently 5 brews on tap. Friendly staff. Glad they're in the area, hope they'll expand their beer and get creative. Would love to see 20 on tap.
