25 Iconic Dishes That Define NYC

"The Dish: Sfogliatella  There aren’t a lot of places where you can get handmade sfogliatella in New York, but Fortunato Brothers is one of them. The Williamsburg bakery, around since 1976, is a vestige of the old Italian neighborhood here, and you can taste a hint of that history in their sfogliatella. Filled with a ricotta and almond pastry cream with a touch of lemon, the pastry crunches like a stack of Pringles as you sink your teeth into it." - bryan kim, sonal shah, willa moore, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, neha talreja

Fortunato Brothers Review - Williamsburg - New York - The Infatuation

"You’ll see a few vestiges of the old Italian-American neighborhood in northern Williamsburg, like the Mt. Carmel Church, which hosts its sausage and pepper-fueled festival every summer. Fortunato Brothers, a bakery that’s been on the corner of Manhattan and Devoe since 1976, is one of them. Try and fight the urge to do a Tony Soprano impression while you order your sfogliatella, a crackly pastry filled with a ricotta pastry cream. Fortunato Brothers is one of the only places you can still get a handmade version of these in New York—and they're as iconic as Yankees players with single-digit jersey numbers. You'll find all the classic Italian bakery pastries here, so come for sfogliatella and espresso, and pick up a box of pignoli or rainbow cookies while you're at it. photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte photo credit: Kate Previte" - Will Hartman

NYC’s 20 Top Pastry Shops - Eater NY

"Some 100 different items are on offer at this family-owned, ornate, marble- and mirror-filled shop, so it’s easy to get carried away. Fortunato’s rainbow cookies are a solid choice, though the blueberry Napoleon is a must-taste here. Consider snagging a whole Cassatta cake — rich with ricotta mousse filling, nutty from a marzipan ribbon around its side, and sweet from the candied cherries, squash, pears, and apricots that garnish each one — for a party. Gelato and espresso are also available." - Daniela Galarza

18 Decadently Delicious Cookies in NYC - Eater NY

"A stronghold of traditional Italian baking amid gentrified Williamsburg, Fortunato keeps things classic. In addition to lovingly made cakes, gelato, and other assorted pastries, the shop is famous for its fluffy tri-colored rainbow cookie. Google
Such a great, timeless Italian bakery in the area for ages! Varieties of pastries, cookies, cakes, gelato, and seasonal specialties like St. Joseph’s pastry and a variety of things for Easter. They have pistachio sfogliatelle (lobster tail pastry) as well as other varieties, they have a cream puff shaped like a swan. Something many unique items that differentiate from other Italian bakeries.

Ordered a cake for an early Father's Day surprise-and the real surprise was that it arrived completely smashed. When I called the bakery, I was told, "Well, we didn't give it to the driver like that," and that there was nothing they could do. This was ordered directly through their website. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time l've had issues. On several occasions, items were missing from my order, and when I called to report it, I was told they couldn't just send a driver out to fix it. One time, they even claimed a replacement item was sold out-only for me to place a new order under another name and suddenly it was back in stock. It's been one unprofessional experience after another, and I can no longer recommend this place in good faith.

Google
Loved this lovely bakery. The service was wonderful. They had a nice assortment of Pastries. The Pistachio Cannoli was very good. The Rainbow Cookie and Baba Rum were equally delicious. I recommend this Bakery.

Google
A friend of mine raved about this bakery, so we decided to check out their gelato. Their pistachio flavor was incredible and didn't disappoint! We enjoyed it in their sitting area with great company. If you're in the area, I highly recommend giving it a try.

Google
I came here for my birthday for cake and pastries with my sister, out of this world!!! I'm definitely going to go back for a pistachio lobster tail, best pastry I had all summer! We got the rainbow cookie cheesecake for the birthday cake, everyone was so pleased, we picked out more sweets from the case, got all three cannolis - hazelnut, pistachio and regular. All everyone enjoyed! Thank you so much for making my birthday special 💗

Google
Some of the best service I’ve ever had for a rather quick stop. Staff was friendly and very helpful when I didn’t know what to get. Only paid $30 for a full box of treats! Make sure to grab a pistachio cannoli and rum soaked break if you can!

The desserts are amazing and it was probably one of the best cappuccino I have had. Definitely worth stopping in. It is a bit chaotic inside as it is usually busy.

Google
What a great bakery! We sat in a really cozy seat in the back corner with plenty of sun light. Delicious food and expresso drinks. We took the recommendation of the pastry assortment. Everything was top notch. Especially the Lobster Tail which is my old favorite. Super creamy and crispy. The rainbow cake is a must try too. Excellent staff service. Can’t wait to go back again.

Yelp
Best. Cannolis. Ever. Cream well balanced, not too rich or sweet. Just right. Shell to die for. Basic shell, rolled in delicious toppings. Despite all the calorie carnage on all the great pizza spots in NYC throughout the day, it was absolutely appropriate to finish the day with these amazing cannolis!

Yelp
I had passed Fortunato Brothers but never made it in for a visit. However, someone recently told me they had the best rainbow cookies so I had to check it out for myself because I am an avid fan (love me some rainbow cookies!!!). And were they the best? I have to say "YES!". Originally I had asked the sales rep how many cookies could I get for half a pound. When she responded with "6", my thoughts were: "What the...?!". But when I received my bag of cookies, I understood. They were like little monsters! The cookies are double what the size is usually sold in Italian bakeries. But God damn, Fortunato Brothers perfected the ratio of cookie to jam to chocolate! I am floored and I will absolutely be back for more!

Yelp
Lovely family owned Italian bakery. We came here for late night treats and to buy souvenirs for family back home in California. Pros: Gorgeous displays of detailed marzipan sculptures!! Worth coming just to see these Wide variety of sweets / traditional classic cookies (rainbow, honey ball plates, cannolis, nougat cake) and all are beautifully done Cons: A bit pricey but not unexpected for the neighborhood or nyc in general. Have had better pastries elsewhere growing up in a high Italian population area but not complaining since this place was a pretty complete one stop shop

Yelp
Late night Italian desert shop! Perfect place to grab a desert after a meal and the cannoli didn't disappoint! It didn't blow my mind but how big it was for the price of only $5 seemed really worth it to me. Had a lot of seating as well with a waiter if you wanted to sit down and chat for a bit!

Yelp
Fortunato Brothers, you rock! Years ago, my cousin packed up her family and moved to Virginia. I'm going to see everyone before heading to my timeshare. She tells me: Billy, can you bring some Italian cookies? And bread! Oh how we miss good New York bread. Now I'm on a mission, where can I zap in, grab the goods and zap out? Fortunato Brothers is my go to, grab the goods and hit the highway. I walk into an empty store. I see rows and rows of Italian baked goods. I'm going to order a few pounds of Italian cookies and I was told bread! They haven't has good Italian bread in years. The bread was still warm when they put it in the bag. The final product? C'mon, it's a Brooklyn Italian bakery! The Sfogliatel was fresh and had a nice crunch. How do I know? I was driving south on I95 and busted open the box of pastries! How could you not, the smell is intoxicating and calling me: Bill S... This is a bakery and not a sit down restaurant, you won't be on your laptop all day sippin' lattes.

Yelp
Along with Veniero's, Fortunato is one of the few remaining classic Italian bakeries in the City outside of South Brooklyn and the Bronx. While I find Veniero's excels primarily at their cakes, like the torta di mandorle and their Italian cheesecake, Fortunato does best at cookies. In particular, their pignoli cookies are the best rendition I've had of this item anywhere, and they also offer a less traditional pistachio cookie that is even better. Note that the gelato is generally worth skipping.

Yelp
Amazing Italian bake shop. They have all kinds of Italian deserts and my favorite rainbow cookies!! Cannolis are solid. I come here whenever I need a cake to celebrate something and it never disappoints. Parking is not the best as it's located in a very residential area but don't let that stop you from going! They have one of the best fruit tarts I've ever had. Just enough sweetness and generous with the fruits.

Yelp
We are big fans of FB. Why wouldn't we pick up additional treats for our baby's second birthday? It was a no brainer for us to grab some treats. We ordered an assortment of desserts that included pistachio cannolis, regular cannolis, rainbow cookies, pistachio cookies, and raspberry cookies. One of the employees gave our daughter a complimentary heart cookie for her birthday. Everything was delish. Especially my favorite pistachio cookies.

Yelp
Being an adult means realizing the power you have to not need a special occasion to eat cake! I was badly craving a slice of cake and I hate getting it at the store cause it's always too sweet. Luckily I saw this is in the neighborhood and raced over. I got a red velvet slice and lobster tail, which my friend and I loved.

Yelp
Solid 3 star for a local Italian bakery. The service at the counter wasn't really friendly or accommodating when we were asking questions - but the goods were decently flavored. When I asked if a sfogliatelle was pistachio flavored, she gave me a blank stare and said it was a lobster tail - not able to make the correlation that a sfogliatelle was the same word as a lobster tail... These pastries are usually best paired with a side of espresso, tea, or coffee on the side as a tea time goodie. One could also get a box of goodies to bring to a family gathering. Decent place - not the best, but decent.

Yelp
classic example of a new york italian bakery. rainbow cookies and linzer tarts were fantastic. nothing else needs to be said. great joint.

Yelp
A neighborhood staple with a long history. They have maintained quality over the years and continue to keep things interesting. My go-to's are always a cannoli, rainbow cake, and pignoli cookies. Service is quick and kind. A reminder that most things are by the pound.

Yelp
I enjoyed stopping at this bakery. They had a large selection of different items to order. I tried out three different pastries, and each one was delicious. My favorite was the rainbow coockie cake. But, the cannoli was pretty tasty as well. Overall, this was a nice spot for some late night desserts.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning bakery. Since 1976 they have been churning out delicious baked goods. The store is modest but full of delicious goodies for your next event where treats are essential. Prices are a bit on the higher end ($18.50 per lb for their cookies) but the cookies are totally worth it. What really stands out is their incredible selection of shaped and painted marzipan. All edible but cut into absolutely shapes. I got two strawberries and little banana and it was $9 for the three (I forget what the price per pound was). Friendly staff and quaint ambiance. We will be back!!

Yelp
Horrible service. I placed a fruit tart cake to be put on HOLD since it's New Year's Eve and it's a very popular cake. The girl on the phone asked for my name and said it'll be on hold. I wasted money getting here to find out the same girl who picked up the phone, didn't even put it on hold and that it was SOLD. There were absolutely none left "right now." She then tried to play it off as if she wasn't the one who said she was going to put it on hold. She asked if we wanted a different cake and had the audacity to tell us more about these other cakes. I have been going here for 20 years!!! Basically, just ask for their names so that you can call them out directly! 0/10

Yelp
This has been my go to bakery since I was a kid. And let me tell you, they've only gotten better! The pastries and cookies are a mix of old school Italian treats and new creations. The staff is always helpful. And the cafe has such an old school Brooklyn feel to it.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Bakery with fantastic gelato! Highly recommend the chocolate hazelnut gelato - it has a different name. Hands down my favorite of their pastries is the pistachio cannoli, I get one every time I walk by here. Also, the pistachio filled croissant is phenomenal!
google avatar

Yelp
I only ordered cannoli's but all of them were great, so delicious! Amazing bakery, great service. There's tables outside the restaurant if you want to eat your pastries right after. Parking was alright, it's a little crowded but this is worth the stop!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CANNOLIS.

Yelp
This well-known bakery specializes solely in desserts and sweet items. Outside of a few loaves of bread, there are no savory bakery items. Beautiful displays of colorful pastries. Service was unfortunately not helpful nor knowledgeable in this visit.

Yelp
I AM THE FABULOUS BAKER BOY! A prelude to one of the best bakeries Brooklyn, let alone New York City, has to offer. Brilliantly located in Williamsburg, only a five minute walk from the Graham Ave stop on the L train, to stop here will force you to cough up a few pennies. Only you will be happy you did. The pastries are as perfect as they can be. Without me getting too loquacious, there is plenty of rhyme and reason to spend $80 here. There is something for everyone, which beckons the question, WHY DO THEY NOT SELL HAMANTASHEN? Every Italian bakery knows what these cookies are. They are associated with the Jewish holiday of Purim, but can be eaten year round. For those unfamiliar, they are a triangular cookie with a fruit or savory filling inside, usually apricot or raspberry jam, chocolate, or poppyseeds. The name derives from the villainous Haman, of the story of Purim. They taste delicious and can be served in any size. But to not sell these is a pretty big disappointment. At least they serve Linzer tarts and those are delicious. Soft cookie, lightly dusted with sugar, and a smooth raspberry or apricot jam in the middle. Now you know my favorite cookies. Or some of them anyhow. If it were not for a two train subway ride to get here, I would come here regularly and weigh 500 pounds. They also take credit cards, adding more plus to the poundage. If Cuccio's is my #1 bakery in the city, this is easily my #2.
google avatar

Retna S.

Yelp
What I like about this Italian bakery is that they have the mini version of the dessert. Perfect for a party or if you want to try a bit of everything without spending a lot of money and consuming a lot of calories. Everything looked very enticing. I had mini sfogliatelle, tiramisu, baba rum cake and a canolo. The sfogliatelle had a nice crunchy shell with nice amount of filling. Tiramisu was moist and soaked with espresso. The mini Baba rum was so adorable in a small container soaked with sweet syrup. They have several flavors of gelato.

Yelp
My Italian (American) heart be still! This place was delicious. There wasn't one that we tried that we didn't like. I do wish I had more time to look and question but it was the night before Thanksgiving and busy was an understatement. I recommend the cannoli and the rainbow cookie cake (the white stripe was cannoli cream!!)

Yelp
I was at this old school Italian Café and Pasticceria/Pastry Shop after going to a dinner a while ago. We ordered a bunch of things and shared a whole lot. To be honest I'm not sure where any of the poor reviews are coming from because everything I had was very good rivaling or exceeding the best Italian spots around me or the famous ones which are much more absurdly priced for similarly good or worse quality. Perhaps people should stick to their Italian/Italian-American offerings instead of the generic American stuff? To drink I had the/Caffè/Coffee Granita which is essentially coffee with very smooth ice. If you want a pick me up and it's in season, order this and you might as well get it in medium or large as the small size is quite tiny. The coffee flavor is strong and it's quite delicious. For pastries we tried a bunch. I got one of the Pignoli to try along with one of the Pistachio Pignoli as well as a Sfogliatella. Yes the general pignoli are just a bit worse than Ferrara's but the latter costs almost $50 a pound if not more compared to the $28 a pound here and it's not twice as good or even close. Very good quality and the pistachio one is a nice touch which isn't found there. I personally prefer the pistachio crusted version at my local spot Monteleone but this was very good. The Sfogliatella was also excellent. I saw another review on here complaining about people trying to pronounce this instead of saying lobster tail but there's actually a distinction. The long stuff you find in spots is said dessert and lobster tails tend to have a stronger sweeter filling instead of having citrus. Rant aside, it was outstanding. Not overly sweet of a filling with a good pastry which had a bit of a crisp and there was plenty of citron to add a bit of bitterness. Would heavily recommend as well and I know sfogliatella quite well. As I'm not commonly in the area, I bought some meringue cookies for the group. These were also outstanding with a good crispy texture and they weren't too sweet. Would heavily recommend the hazelnut one. Another person had the baba rhum which they liked and someone had a fruit tart which they liked as well. Not much to complain about here. The prices were reasonable and the quality of most of the pastries was either very good or outstanding. The staff could have been a bit friendlier but there were a bunch of us who went back to order more and it was pretty late so it was at least partially expected. Would go back if I was in the area.

Yelp
I had been wanting to stop by to try the cannoli and rainbow cookies. I was already going into Williamsburg so after I had lunch, I stopped by. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get a parking spot because it seemed to be a bit busy in the area but luckily I found a spot very close to the bakery. The bakery is nice inside and they also have a case with gelato. I picked out a few things including the cannoli and rainbow cookies. I loved the cannoli, it was fresh and not overly sweet. The shells had a nice crunch. The rainbow cookies were really good, and also not overly sweet. I didn't really taste the apricot jam in them, the raspberry kind of overpowered them but still delicious. The service was ok, the young girl helping me wasn't very friendly. I definitely want to go back though.

Yelp
I am not Italian and have no experience with Pastry, but Fortunato's i am quite fond of. Their Cheesecake is what my folks always came here for (Birthday Cake Substitute). And i'm very sure i could identify their Cheesecake in a blind taste test with 110% accuracy. My favorite thing is the cake box with their brand and logo. And that Rainbow Cookie... Hard to explain but, it's a multi-layered cake disguised as a "Cookie". Moist without feeling dense. Firm yet absolutely delicate. A fine destination to end your night for Dessert in the area. Or to pickup along the way from home after school.
google avatar

Sophia A.

Yelp
I saw online that Fortunato Brothers has the best rainbow cookies, I'm a huge fan of rainbow cookies and I know a good one live in Los Angeles and I've searched. I've been in New York and in Buffalo and tried very good ones. I ordered the rainbow cookie from Fortunato Brothers through gold belly. it cost me an arm and two legs, but let me tell you it was the best rainbow cookie I've ever had. They've really mastered every aspect of it. It is one of the best things I've ever eaten. I'm planning to be in New York in April and I cannot wait to go.

Yelp
I came back after dinner tonight while in Williamsburg. Hoping to give it another chance... I purchased two of their new cannoli filled rainbow crumb cake. An idea, that they stole from Comfortland in Astoria... already a bad start, $7.50 for both. Not terrible for a little treat. They even gave us a sample of bread, which was generous, but it's end of day... so a great process. The staff are always friendly enough. Unfortunately the pastry is utter garbage. I mean it went straight to the trash. As a Sicilian, it's a-front to the very nature of my culture. Whatever is in this, it tastes like a fridge with heavy mold and fake almond flavoring. It's quite awful, even my partner couldn't stomach it. I really was hoping it was a fluke from my last visit, but I will really not be returning this time. It's unfortunate as there aren't many bakeries like this left in Willamsburg. Do better.
google avatar

Marijke K.

Yelp
Prices are amazing and I loved the old school Italian-American bakery vibe. I got a cannoli, which I would give 6.5/10... it was later in the day so it had maybe been sitting a tad too long, but I'd be willing to give a fresh one a chance.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Disclaimer: an Italian here coming from a family who has a bunch of pizzerias but we aren't experts at baking, just experts at eating Italian pastries. You don't have to be an expert to realize that their pastries are not fresh. I have no idea how they have high reviews. Everytime I've been here I've been disappointed. I absolutely wanted to like this place. Eggclair, mini fruit tart stale. Red velvet cake, dry. Their canolli s are good.
google avatar

Jae H.

Yelp
Incredible bakery. I love how authentic it was. The cannolis were AMAZING. Love how they have mini ones so we got a few. Excellent service as well. Will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
Lobster tail was really flavorful with amazing cream to croissant ratio! I wasn't a fan of the rainbow cookie with cannoli cream, but I've never been a rainbow cookie fan. I'm booking forward to coming back and trying their tiramisu! Lots of seating Indoors and outdoors

Yelp
Stopped by for dessert after grabbing dinner not too far from there. I've been hearing about Fortunato's in Williamsburg for a while and glad I finally got to try it. It reminded me a little bit of the Italian bakeries in Bensonhurst and other parts of BK - typical old school style displays when you walk in with some cafe seating on the side. We decided to stay and have cappuccinos while sampling their cannolis and sfogliatella - all pretty good. None of the staff that helped us were Italian like at the other establishments I've been to, but they were cordial and efficient. I'd like to go back to try their rainbow and pignoli cookies to compare them to some of the other establishments. The only down side is if you park it may be difficult to find a spot (we got lucky last night), bit there is a train station very close by.
google avatar

Yelp
Always love Fortunato Brothers cakes - for as long as I can remember, since I was a little kid in Brooklyn, my family and I have Fortunato's cakes every time. Our top favorite will always be a coffee cake! Such a delectable cake that's perfectly moist and rich. It's a delightful treat that pairs wonderfully with coffee or milk, so good! Service was super quick and great, and such a nice spot if you're ever in the neighborhood in need of a sweet gelato for the hot summer days!

Yelp
Love this place. Freshest pastries at the lowest prices. Took a star away for the loud low class Italians cursing all over the place

Yelp
I have followed Fortunato for years on instagram as I live in California and can't readily access their store. My favorite desserts are rainbow cookies and sfogliatella cookies. I finally decided to spend the money and ship them through Goldbelly for Thanksgiving. The cookies were ok. But the rainbow cookie cake was as hard and dry as a 5 day old piece of toast. I was very disappointed. I am sure their desserts are much better same day from the store, but they shouldn't be shipping nationwide if the product doesn't hold up. We literally had 1 slice of the rainbow cake and threw the rest out. I had very high hopes of ordering, as I would do it again if the quality was there. Shame on me for spending $154.90- won't happen again.

A K.

Yelp
My daughter bought 8 pricey desserts and 3 were wrong. She asked for 3 napoleons and received 3 other ones. The mistake was discovered when she arrived home. Instead of compting us for their mistake, they refused. Simply poor customer service and we will never buy from them again.

Migdalia O.

Yelp
I love Fortunato bakery. It's in my neighborhood and I have been coming here for years. I feel like I'm in Willy Wonka factory. As a child my grandmother would bring a cake from Italian bakery I I was the happiest child in the world.

Yelp
The best cannolis ever omgggg the pistachio cannoli changed my life also got a little hazelnut tart with strawberry on the top super fire and the Italian cookie was super moist and good

Yelp
After dinner we hopped on the L-train to Brooklyn and the outstretches for dessert. We did get this to go as we were still digesting dinner and not quite ready for dessert. Nestled on the corner in the neighborhood the pastry cases also are displays outside as well which was cool to get a sneak preview before walking in. They weren't busy so we were able to order quickly and get it for the road. We ordered cannoli, cake pops, and Sfogliatella. The cannoli was very good -wasn't overly hard and easy to eat without it shattering and going everywhere. The cake pop wasn't bad.

Yelp
This is my second time coming in to try the lobster tails but still no luck. I got a rainbow cookie instead which was pretty good but honestly, the service ruined it for me. The person at the counter was really rude and I tried to be in and out as fast as possible. I also want to note that the website and door says that they close at 11pm, but when I came at 10pm the first time they were closed with no reason. I read other reviews that this happened to them so I know i'm not the only one. Unfortunately I don't think i'll be back to try the lobster tail or any of their other desserts even though they all looked good.

Yelp
No words are necessary. Just go and experience the real deal, the one and only, Fortunato Bros!

Yelp
Came here and was very disappointed. I typically have 2 places I like to go to in manhattan. The person who I was with kept seeing videos pop up on TikTok so we decided to go to Williamsburg just for this. Of course we couldn't judge it off of just 1 or 2 things so we got a variety and sat down to go through multiple things. What did we get? A cannoli, a pistachio cannoli, a 7 layer cookie, a pistaschio pignolo cookie (the regular wasn't available but I'll get to that later), a sfogliatella, a Napoleon, and a latte. I really wanted a lobster tail but was told they didn't have any yet because they don't make them in the morning. If we wanted it, we had to wait another 30+ mins. Part of me was glad I didn't get it because of how disappointing everything else was. The regular pignolo cookies weren't available because they were frozen and thawing! The cannoli and pistachio cannoli were OK, there were 2 slices of strawberries on the regular cannoli which were old and mushy. The cream itself was very good and I liked that the shell was crispy. The pistachio cannoli didn't have a strong pistachio taste - a lot of videos claimed it did but it was a big let down. The shell on the pistachio cannoli was much better than the regular which had chocolate. I wish they would have just used regular filling in the pistachio shell instead. On a scale of 1-10 I would say the regular was a 6 and pistachio was a 5 The 7 layer cookie was good, I'd say a 7 The pistachio pignolo cookie was ok but burnt on the bottom, I'd give it a 5 The sfogliatella had a nice crunch to it but was very small and barely had any filling in it. I'd give it a 5 The Napoleon was good but soggy, the layers weren't crispy, it fell apart when you bit into it, the frosting on top was runny. I'd give it a 6 The latte was good, I'd give it a 8 Overall it was ok. If I lived in the neighborhood then sure I might stop in once in a while but only because there aren't others like this nearby but I'd rather stick to my regular spots in manhattan

Yelp
If I can give this establishment 0 stars I would. I walked in at 8:35 looking to get a slice of red velvet and sit down and enjoy it real quick with my partner. There were about 4 other couples or pairs of people there. Some inside and some on the exterior still shielded from the cold. Let's start with the cake, no flavor. I've had MANY, slices of red velvet as it's my favorite cake. The bread itself was off and did not taste like your regular red velvet. Next the frosting, GROSS. It tasted like it belonged 100 miles away from red velvet. The size, oh my goodness the tiniest piece of a cake I've ever seen in my life! While charging a normal price relative to other bakeries. Gross. The service -10000/10. I asked for an extra fork so I can stay and eat. Google, yelp and the sign said they closed at 10pm-11pm (varies) and the young woman behind the counter rudely said "you can't stay we're closing in a few minutes". While all other pairs with MORE food, we're relaxing and taking their time. Very disgusting product with the worse service I've ever seen in my life. This place is blacklisted from my bakery spots and for my friends and family.

Yelp
Over the years, my coworkers have gotten birthday cakes from here, and it seems to be hit or miss. Some really hit it out of the park, and others not so much. There's a good variety of Italian American pastries and other specialty desserts, so it's good to have an idea of what you want before heading over. Parking is also an issue, so plan to look around a good 15 minutes to find a spot.

Yelp
My sister sent me a tiktok and asked me to get her the tiramisu cake for her birthday celebration. Unfortunately it didn't live up to expectation and after the first bite we both agreed it tasted a little weird. I've had better tiramisu at Whole Foods. Could've just been an off day though!

Yelp
I really can't believe I'm giving such a low rating but I have to be honest. Came in yesterday and spent over $100 on pastries and cookies for mine and my father's birthday. I got quite a lot of things and everything looked so so good ! However, there was almost nothing that tasted good and I was actually shocked. The mini cheesecakes (plain and marble) had a strange texture and taste, eclairs and tarts with presumably the same filling tasted like sweetened uncooked flour and was incredibly thick, one thing that looked beautiful was this coffee flavored cream between two cookies covered in chocolate and nuts but when we all tried it there was barely any coffee flavor and it had a weird bitter taste that almost had a slight mintiness to it, little tarts were ok but again that weird uncooked flour taste in the filling, the biggest disappointment was the cannolis which I was looking forward to since I loveeeeee cannolis. The cannoli shell was horrendous and tasted exactly like burnt fryer oil to the point that none of us could eat it and spit it out, the filling of it was ok but nothing special, we really just couldn't get over that extremely burnt oil flavor of the shell and it was nauseating. Of about 20 different things we bought, literally only 2 things were good which was this tiny square of coconut cake, and the lobster tail. I also got the rainbow cookie gelato and threw it out after 1 bite. If you get something rainbow cookie flavored you'd expect hints of almond extract and maybe apricot and/or raspberry but it tasted like extremely bland vanilla ice cream with some rainbow cookie crumbs thrown in. I really was so sad about the experience here because I've had them saved for months and was waiting until mine and my dads birthday to give them a try thinking we were going to have an amazing experience with all the rave reviews. Usually I'd give any place a second try because I know there can be off days, but 18 out of 20 things being inedible doesn't allow a second visit.

Yelp
Great customer service. Also, the cannoli cake sold here is amazing. It's perfect for those who don't like super sweet desserts and prefer their frosting to be light and fluffy. I challenge you to only eat one cannoli cake slice!

Yelp
We took a ride to Williamsburg today especially for Fortunato Brothers pastry. I'm from Bensonhurst and we have some excellent bakeries here but I wanted to see what the hype was. Well they did not disappoint! So many beautiful pastries and gelato. I stayed old school with my order. Two different cannoli, napoleon, sfogliatella, a strawberry tart and a lobster tail. The store is bright and clean. They have covered seating outside, which we'll have a seat next time for some gelato which they have quite a few flavors to choose from. The cannoli were wonderful! Got the hubs one with chocolate and nuts on the shell and he was in heaven! The lobster tail had so much rich fluffy cream inside, wonderful The cannoli filling is so good I could eat that alone. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. Next time I'm bringing a cooler so I can bring home some gelato!
