Google
Absolute best value for money for Americanized Chinese food in all of Northern California m. Hot, fresh, delicious and the lovely ladies who run the front of the shop are nice as can be.

Really love the food from here, it is so tasty and a great value. You get a lot of food for a good price! The salt and pepper fish is my favorite thing here, the fish tastes so good not old, and it was a great crisp to it. The salt and pepper chicken is also really good, sometimes smaller pieces can be slightly over fried. They are quick and you can order ahead to make it quicker. They don’t have indoor dining so be aware of that. Overall, a great Chinese restaurant that I definitely recommend coming here!

Google
Fortune Chinese Food Restaurant is Amazing!!!! The lady that took my order was Friendly and Helpful! Facility was Clean! I ordered Take Out..the House Fried Rice and Wor Wonton Soup…So Yummy!!! I got my order in about 10-15mins..Which is about average time to get your order. I will definitely be coming to visit again! ❤️🥰❤️

Google
Very sweet ladies behind the counter offer great customer service, always welcoming and smiling. As for the food let’s just say this place has the best and biggest portions of really good Chinese food. Egg rolls are so crisp and hot every time. Chow mein is amazing. But my go to is always the sweet and sour chicken, you just can’t go wrong when it comes to this place no matter what you order, you know you’ll be full and most likely have some leftover for later. All this at a really decent price earns 5 stars from me!!

Google
this was my first time here, but it was outstanding! portions were huge, food was the best ive had , and good service. best part was the price $13.50 for a combo plate fed me and the wife, and leftovers . see photos

Google
Really enjoyed the kung pao chicken! I got the dinner combo which comes with fried rice, chow mein, an egg roll, and a wonton and they filled that box to the brim! Seriously. And $15 for that amount of food feels like a steal. Feels all the better that the ladies were so friendly and welcoming when I walked in. Great spot!

Google
Cheap take out place. $13.30 OTD. This is the Mongolian beef. Pretty tasty. I wouldn't say it's the best Chinese food I've had , maybe a 7/10. The portions are huge. Will come return.

Google
The best Chinese American food in California. We have traveled throughout California trying different food, however Chinese food seems to lack in the state. We hadn't given up though when we tried Fortune Chinese. I was so excited when I tried their food because of how flavorful and fresh their food was. Our first time ordering I stuffed my face and didn't even take the time to take pictures to write a review on it. I insisted that we come here again to take pictures of our food to review online. Our second time ordering and the food was just as fresh as the first time ordering. Their fried shrimp and fried chicken are perfectly battered and crispy. They aren't like a lot of Chinese restaurants that are more batter than meat. Their lunch and dinner plates are the perfect choice because you get to have fried rice, udon noodles, an egg roll and a wonton with your entrée. You get large portions for what you pay for. Every time we order we have gotten a free add on which is always a pleasant bonus. Definitely will come here again!! I do with they offered delivery, however you can call ahead to place an order for pick up.

Yelp
Love Fortune Chinese! Great spot in the Land Park area for to go Chinese Food! They have great tasting food with lots of flavor! When you call they are always prompt to answer and it's usually only about a 10 minute wait for your entrees. Always friendly and very fast! Much better than most of the local Chinese Spots! Truly a hidden gem in Land Park area/ Oak Park.

Yelp
Had the chance to finally check out Fortune Chinese over the weekend. It's a small Chinese takeout spot located off Franklin and 12th Ave. Overall walking in I didn't expect seating and there wasn't any so don't be expecting to come in and enjoy a meal inside (it's takeout). The two ladies taking orders were both very nice and helpful when it came to choosing our meals. For the price paid for each combo price you do get A LOT of food. One plate could honestly feed two people even if you're both really hungry. The broccoli beef combo was the best of the two we ordered as the Mongolian shrimp had too much veggies and not enough shrimp (like five pieces). The sauce used for the Mongolian though was very good and maybe next time I ask for extra shrimp or overall go with another entree. This place definitely met my expectations and I honestly think it's some of the best Chinese food in the Sacramento area. Definitely going to come back and try a different entree next time.

Yelp
Fortune favors the bold. Get bold head on down to 12th Ave for some tasty take out. I've had enough items from Fortune notice the food is done well. America Chinese takeout staples general chicken, orange chicken, and salt and pepper chicken all hit the mark. The dinner combo is a substantial amount of food with tasty chicken fried rice, chow mein, an egg roll and one crab rangoon . This is 2 meals worth of food. The dinner combos menu has a few tofu items for the veggie folks too. Also I noticed the older pictures of food are generally stlli accurate. No skimping or reduction in quality over the years. Consistent. It's quick, it's hot n fresh. I'm about it when in the mood. Do it.

Yelp
Delicious! Insane portions for the price. The place is small inside, you can place an order at the counter or order ahead (what i would recommend) it takes about 15 minutes. It's a cheery place with pictures posted for you to review before you order. They have a soft drink fridge if you would like a cold beverage. They have capri suns in there which i thought was cute. It was quiet inside, people coming and going to pick up. I got the general chicken dinner combo and wow! Huge plate, comes with fried rice, chow mein, egg roll, and crab wonton. Awesome flavor, good texture. Everything you want in chinese takeout times three.

Yelp
This is my go to Chinese food spot because it is close to where we live, the service is pretty good and the food tastes delicious. I usually call in my order for pick up and I don't have to wait longer than 15 minutes to pick it up. I love the system here where they tell me the number to look for at the window to let me know that my order is ready and I can go inside and pay for it. When I do call the place in my order, they repeat my order back to me which I appreciate. They often try to check in to see if I need anything additional such as a drink. When you walk in you are greeted with kindness, then you pay and get your food. Inside is very clean and everyone inside is so friendly.

Yelp
I eat here too many times to count! It's one of my favorites! And it's easy on the bank! I love how their lunch specials are very long till 3 pm. Perfect for when getting off work. You can order the combo plates which comes with fried rice, noodles, 1 eggroll, 1 crab ragoons, and ur choice of a main entrée. This time I got 1 plate of only walnut shrimp, 1 plate of only green beans with beef and 1 plate of only orange chicken. The service is always fast and be sure to know what you're order on hand. The location doesn't have dine in its only order to go and remember to ask for utensils when you order to go just in case you need them. Anyways, ima go eat my food now!

Yelp
There's a time and place for everything, even Americanized Chinese food for someone that grew up on authentic Chinese cuisine. I dropped by for a late dinner since I finished the day close by. The restaurant does not have a dine-in option and operates solely on takeout. The lady at the front seemed nice. For $14.50, their dinner combo provides a ridiculous amount of food. It comes with an eggroll, crab wonton, vegetable chow mein, and chicken fried rice *in addition* to an entree of your choice. The chicken + green beans combo left me with an entire extra meal for the next day. Everything tasted decent except the chow mein which tasted somewhat plain. The menu is clearly tailored toward a non-Chinese crowd, but I can get behind it on occasion.

Yelp
When you need that fast American-Chinese food on a Friday night, seek out Fortune on 12th/Franklin. I ordered the orange chicken combo plate (requested all fried rice) and the Mongolian beef combo plate. For $14.50 it comes with veg chow mein, chicken fried rice, 1 entree of choice (including shrimp options), a veg egg roll, and a cream cheese wonton. Big portions. I could do without the egg roll and wonton, neither were crispy at all. Orange chicken had good flavor, though could've been crispier and Mongolian beef was tender, doused in a savory sauce, and loaded with onions. Not so spicy but had red chilis that I picked out. Fried rice was plain with bits of chicken and nothing else. Chow mein was ok, as expected from fast takeout American-Chinese. The ladies were firendly on the phone when I placed my order and even friendlier in person during pickup. I can see myself getting takeout from Fortune again when that craving hits.

Yelp
I literally ordered 30 min before they closed. We ordered 3 dinner combo plates for a great price for A WHOLE LOAD of food! It was so good I'm so happy to have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Egg roll delish. Chicken cooked very nicely with a soft tenderness inside and crunchy flavorful outside. Service was excellent, I was there right before they closed and the food was steaming hot. Will be back.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place when my car broke down right as I exited. This was pre-Covid and you could dine in. Ever since then I have been a returning customer. The service is always really quick, and I really like their chow mein. It brings comfort to my mouth because it reminds me of when I used to live in Stockton and the food 4 less was a big hit. Their sauce is flavorful, and some might say their breading is a little too thick, but I kind of like it when it's nice and fresh. I'm a little weird but if that's not for you, then don't knock it. This place is walk in now, so you can't dine in. They offer very affordable party trays too, and specially in this economy.

Yelp
I love the service here. The food portions are HUGE. The lunch plate comes with an egg roll and cream crab cheese wonton . You can't beat the price, the food is hot, fresh and made to order ! They also have a lot of drink options. The place is small with no seating so it's to go only . Check them out.

Yelp
Really good Chinese food. Super consistent, good quality food, big portions, and reasonably priced. The owners are super friendly, they give you what you want, and it's always been good. The chow mein is awesome, as is the kung pao chicken. Everything I've had has been good. It's one of my favorite places for Chinese food.
google avatar

Rob L.

Yelp
Went for the 1st time, and wasn't too impressed. The food was just meh. The service was good for a Chinese take-out. And the portions were yuge. Prices were ok. However, there's another Chinese take-out not too far which we like better.
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
Got two dinner plate combos very nice service clean inside, but it is not the best Chinese food had so much better. The fried rice is just rice and soy sauce. Wasn't really a fan of the chow mein had better,The fried chicken and fried shrimp was supposed to be salt and pepper. They place placed the food ! under the seasoning instead of being blended in so It didn't really have any taste to. It wouldn't come back not the best Chinese food
google avatar

Jude W.

Yelp
I had the general chicken combo with fried rice and an egg roll. This Chinese food was off the damn chain; hands down one of the best Chinese takeout joints in Sacramento. The chicken and fried rice were super flavorful.
google avatar

Cresentia G.

Yelp
A lot of food for your buck! Looking for Chinese food on a budget this is the place. My husband and I order the combo plate and share. We get the half and half (rice and noodles) and orange chicken. I also love their honey walnut shrimp and fried tofu.
google avatar

Malikah H.

Yelp
-Salt and pepper spare ribs. A bit too much breading and lots of oil -Salt and pepper shrimp wayyy too much breading While the food was seasoned well and the food was prepared quickly but entirely too much breading on both meals. Not sure of o would give this place another try but maybe. I won't count it out too soon but the only thing worse than wasting money is wasting it on food that doesn't taste as good as it smells

Yelp
Amazing service & top notch hot food! Highly recommend for your catering needs. A few weeks prior to our special event, my husband and I had been trying hot food to-go at different Chinese restaurants in our area, we happened to go to this spot on accident after I got it confused with another restaurant in our area but we were pleasantly surprised! Their to-go dinner combo was packed to the brim and the flavors from both the General Chicken and Mongolian beef were delicious! I also liked how they included both an egg roll & a cream cheese wonton (my fave). Because we were so impresssed with our to-go orders, we decided to pick them for our catering needs. We ordered, 1 large veggie chow mein, 1 large pork fried rice, 1 large orange chicken, 1 large broccoli beef, 1 medium sweet & sour pork, 1 small egg roll & 1 small cream cheese wonton. With the amount of leftovers we had, I'd say this was enough for probably 70-75 guests! We received so many compliments on the food and especially the broccoli beef! Im mot sure how they prepare their veggies but unlike the usual Chinese hot food, their veggies were crisp & fresh! I highly recommend this business. We plan to use them for all of our future catering needs. Also can't wait to go back and try some of their other more traditional Chinese dishes. =]

Yelp
*Returns to Sac airport feeling some of the 109-degree heat instantly upon leaving the plane* Yeeeah I'm just gonna stop by here on my drive home for some no-fuss takeout food lol. Pretty much ideal no-fuss Chinese takeout food actually. I really appreciate that the food isn't overly salty or greasy at all. Very tender meat (highly recommend the broccoli with beef....the broccoli pieces are scrumptiously tender too!). The orange chicken is decent; coating is a little too crunchy for my liking but still flavorful without being candy-sweet. Chow mein noodles are slightly too soft (not much of a bite) but that didn't stop me from mindlessly eating a good portion of it lol. Really friendly and patient ladies at the counter here. Strictly a to-go spot; no tables for dining.
google avatar

Niasha D.

Yelp
I came here on a late night for a pick up order since there is no inside seating. The Ambiance inside was basic but they had pictures of the food you would order which was nice because those photos loook damn good lol. There was a nice sweet lady at the front that took my order and was generous about extra sauce. My food took about 15 minutes, the food was HOT HOT just how I like it. Also I ordered a side of egg rolls and i think it was quantity of 6 for 1 order. Nice! Dinner Plate: sweet & sour chicken with chow mein / chicken fried rice
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Their general chicken is the best I've ever had!! So fresh and crispy. Service is SO quick!
google avatar

Sk S.

Yelp
great food and price for the amount. but its a hit and miss sometimes. You get a good amount of meat to veg ratio and some times they over power with vegs and little meat. Different every time. On the good days its great bad days still good just not as much.
google avatar

Joe N.

Yelp
Food here is good and great prices. I have gone elsewhere and paid twice as much for worse food. No seating, and a little dingy, but call ahead for pick up and what does it matter .
google avatar

Naomi L.

Yelp
I ate here accidentally for the second time. By accidentally, I mean I've been here once before...was horrendously disappointed and decided never to go back. There were so many amazing reviews and it's been years since the last time I was here. Every 2 years, I want Honey Walnut Prawns. They were like shrimp donuts here, thick, cake-like sweet batter, fluffy like cake, watery sauce with a few walnuts on top of a pile of soggy lettuce/cabbage. The egg roll was greasy. Service was kind of dismissive. Last time I was here I ordered 4 dishes, I normally prefer less Americanized dishes . I remember being equally as disappointed. Food lacks elegance and is more the gut-bomb variety, greasy, sugary, over-salted.

Lew L.

Yelp
Take out only. I walked in and ordered and had order in10 minutes. Dinner special was huge portion chow mein fried rice egg roll and one entree. Fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
I have ordered Hot and Sour soup, Pot Stickers, Pork Chow Fun, Salt and Pepper chicken. I have never been disappointed with food here. The orders come out quickly and the ladies there are delightful. I've only been in the area for a year, so the place is kind of new to me. It looks like you used to be able to sit inside and dine but now it's only takeout. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
google avatar

Carole A.

Yelp
i have had much better. one time getting food from there was enough! it was listed as one of the best chinese food places in sac....not so.
google avatar

Frankie J.

Yelp
The definition of a hole in the wall. The food is so good and you get a huge serving for the price point. There is no seating or dine in option so call ahead so you limit your wait time. Every item I have ordered has been tasty with no complaints. They also offer party size ordering for all of their menu items. The selection of entrees is extensive so there really is something for everyone.
google avatar

Teresa P.

Yelp
We decided to try out a new Chinese Food place instead of going with our regular restaurant. So glad we did not only was the service fast but very friendly. The menu has so many options we'll have to go back and try another dish soon. I had the beef with broccoli and my hubby tried the shrimp with broccoli. Both had delicious flavor. The chow mein and rice were delicious full of flavor. For the lunch special a crab wonton and spring roll are included both yummy. The portions are huge and each lunch special was $10 well worth it. Dining in wasn't an option but it's ok the staff was very friendly while we waited for our lunch. Often times some restaurants may go cheap on the entree but that didn't happen here. Highly recommend.

BJ A.

Yelp
This restaurant is pickup only. But I got both the General Tofu & Broccoli Beef Dinner combos. We loved the both of them as they had good flavor. In addition to the entrees, it comes with chow mein & rice, as well as an egg roll and a crab cheese wonton!
google avatar

Mario A.

Yelp
Best Chinese in town hands down. Take-out only, no delivery available. We usually pick-up early and bring home to reheat for dinner. We usually get the House Chowmein which has pork, chicken, and prawns; the General's Chicken; Fried Rolls; & Cream-cheese Wontons. An order over $40 automatically qualifies you for a free additional appetizer. We choose more cream-cheese wontons. We cannot get enough! We have also had their Mongolian beef which is amazing, too. The ladies taking your order over the phone and during pick-up are always friendly. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a traditional hole-in-the-wall authentic Chinese restaurant. I mostly do delivery, but for this place I make the drive.
google avatar

Chef Will G.

Yelp
Last time I came this place was so good. They crashed and burned this time. Green Bean Chicken The green beans were shriveled not fresh. House Special Fried Rice I bit into something hard that did not belong there. I thought it may have been a bone, but had the consistency of wood don't really know what it was. See pix of hard item. Need good sanitation procedures. I will not be returning.
google avatar

Nani V.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and every time I've gotten food to share with family. Everyone always raves and ask where I got it from because it was really good. I have to agree, I don't eat a lot of Chinese food and am quiet picky when it comes to it, so this is currently my go-to spot, even though I have a couple down the street from me. Chowmein and general chicken are the items I ordered.
google avatar

Lola L.

Yelp
Simply delicious. I wish I was eating with more people so I could've tried other items. I got the dinner platter with Mongolian beef. I was impressed with the size. It fed me for three meals. I can't wait to go back here. This is takeout only.

Kevin N.

Yelp
This place is so gas I can't stop thinking about it. The General Tsao was plentiful and they gave me A LOT of food. I was happy with every bite. Their Mongolian beef was really good and tender too. Super quick. I once ordered whole I was a 4 minute drive from the location and it was ready by the time I arrived.

D R.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Complimented as best Chinese in Sac! The crab ragoon wontons have changed not just shaped, but quality, not much filling and very little imitation crab inside, not worth the price. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp dinner plate. 20 minutes before close was probably a mistake. I was told 10 minutes, but food was ready in about 5 minutes. I didn't think much of it. Food looked cooked thoroughly. There were 8 shrimp, but looks are deceiving mostly batter. Overall food was good, but seemed to have less flavor than usual, that with change in crab wontons maybe a new cook? Anyways, this morning I violently threw up all my meal I had eaten. I believe it was food poisoning as this is all I ate yesterday. Needless to say left overs will not be eaten today, but thrown away instead. I will come back, just not late in the evening, and most likely avoid the shrimp.
google avatar

Shanitte N.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place randomly and the food was pretty good. The amount of food you get is crazy, it was enough for 3 people. The food was good except the orange chicken was a bit soggy and bland. Overall it's a decent place for fast food Chinese and bang for your buck.

Mariah M.

Yelp
Ever since we have moved to this area this is our Go-To Chinese to-go restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing, the servings are huge and also has great service! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Petra F.

Yelp
Large portions at this establishment. The food is fresh and good. The chow mein is plenty full and has great flavor very small so don't plan on eating in. This is more of a takeout diner. Great food. Give it a try I'm sure you'll love it.

Yelp
After scrolling on Yelp looking for a good Chinese food place, Fortune Chinese Food came up. I decided to try it. I called in my order before going in. The person taking my order over the phone was so kind and friendly. They answered the questions I had about portions and how many people things could serve. I ordered the Wor Wonton Soup with chicken and shrimp and the dinner combo with chicken and broccoli. I was told the order would be ready in 15 minutes and they provided me with my order number. I arrived and the food was ready. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming. They asked for my order number and to verify my phone number and they gave me my food. They asked if I needed any sauces. Overall, I was very excited about the food given how hot and fresh it was from all the steam in the bag. Once I got home, I opened everything and was stunned at the portions. The dinner combo was like 2 servings and the soup had a lot of wontons. I was so pleased and it was all for less than $25! The food was really good. It was well-seasoned and packed with flavor. I also love how the dinner plate comes with a crab rangoon and an egg roll. There is a lot of thought and quality that goes into the food and I would recommend it. Overall, great prices, great taste, and such friendly staff.

Guy D.

Yelp
Several violations by the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department including a major violation, and terrible customer service to add insult to injury. TERRIBLE customer service. I went here on 12/16/2024 and they don't include sauces with dinner combinations. According to "Vicky", she claimed that it was because of the "new law", which is not only a lie, but the dumbest thing I've ever heard. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!!
google avatar

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Tons of food per order. Super yum. Can make anything vegetarian. I love the Fun! Only negative is I don't recommend anything w fried tofu as it's soggy not crispy.
google avatar

Boj o.

Yelp
My son loved the bbq pork fried rice. This place is another hole in the wall but it's only for takeout. 10 minutes and the food was ready for pickup. It's hot and fresh. Chinese food is meant to be eaten fresh and hot out of the kitchen - not to-go. Don't expect to be amazing especially if you order something crispy. Other than that, this place is solid.
google avatar

Betsaida C.

Yelp
Their food was okay. I wasn't particularly impressed by it but none the less I ate it because some of it was good. The kung pao chicken was very spicy and it didn't have a lot of chicken in it. Also I don't know what happened but their phone wasn't working. I had to literally walk over to get my order in. I'm glad I've tried it but my search still continues for good Chinese food.
google avatar

Tiara B.

Yelp
Fortune Chinese Food is the only Chinese carryout I go to in Sacramento! I've been coming here for a year now and it never disappoints. Great customer service! Food is always hot and ready to go when I do pick up. I highly recommend if you're looking for delicious Chinese food.
google avatar

Selina W.

Yelp
Love this place too!! They have good prices for amount of food you get very friendly and I like how they are working their establishment during Covid. I live for their salt and pepper wings. Just awesome!! Fast service, good portions, low prices and great service!

Koui S.

Yelp
Best Chinese food place in Sacramento! Nothing like a hole in the wall Chinese food spot in the hood! The portions are huge and worth every penny
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
Sadly did not realize it was carry out only. I wish that would have been more obvious to me before I unloaded my disabled client and rolled him up. Didn't end up staying to try the food as we needed a sit down place.
