The 16 Best Old Hollywood Restaurants

"The Beverly Hills Hotel is a shining beacon of pastel pink luring tourists and their cameras, but while we recommend you stay far away from The Polo Lounge (the restaurant with the lowest rating in Infatuation history), the downstairs Fountain Coffee Room is another story. This 19-stool counter feels like someone dropped an old-school diner in the middle of a fancy Beverly Hills hotel. The crowd is a mix of whichever TV star is in-house on a press tour, European tourists celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and local rich ladies popping in for their regular breakfast of half a grapefruit and the silver dollar pancakes. Sure, the food isn’t anything particularly special (and comes at Beverly Hills prices), but for a fun breakfast in the area, this place can’t be beat." - brant cox

Where To Eat Lunch In Beverly Hills

"The Polo Lounge might be the worst restaurant in all of Los Angeles, but if you find yourself hungry near the Beverly Hills Hotel, all is not lost. You can go to the hotel’s other famous restaurant, the more casual Fountain Room. It’s a small cafe with that leafy wallpaper you’ve seen on social media, and it has decent coffee, good pancakes, and a relaxed atmosphere that you’ll feel comfortable hanging out in for a while." - amy clark

"This place serves classic American breakfast fare, an informal lunch, and early dinners, but we usually come to this old-fashioned soda fountain for the floats, malts, and shakes. Grab a bar stool let the décor—with its signature banana-leaf wallpaper—transport you to a simpler time."

Was a nice cute place with only 20 countertop seats available. Loved the jungle wall paper and comfy seats. The place was busy, but the staff handled it well. Had a delicious eggs benedict and an iced coffee. But bring the extra cash not cheap for breakfast. Enjoy!!

Is it ridiculously expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? YES. Elevated diner food with excellent service. Beautifully decorated and full of stories, no doubt.

Google
A hidden gem inside the Beverly Hills Hotel, an old school lunch counter. Sandwiches, breakfast , smoothies, and more. Located on the same level as shopping, open for breakfast and lunch. I had the best waffle - soft on the inside with a slight crunch.

Google
It’s a very cosy place with warm service by the staff and will welcome you with a smile.Egg Benedict is a must and even though latte was not as per my taste as I suppose it wasn’t with my favorite whole milk/regular milk

Google
We knew that this was extremely overpriced but it was for the location, location, location. It’s kind of sad they give you an entree for $30 (breakfast burrito) and absolutely no garnishes. “What is this depressing bean?” (The Grinch) I mean- make it next level but we knew the prices ahead of time so just know that it’s overpriced and kinda lackluster.

Google
This is a great restaurant and hang out spot for the elite and wealthy of Beverly Hills! I definitely enjoyed my breakfast and experience this morning! Thank you very much!

Google
The food is good, had the Eggs Benedict was average but good. Service was excellent. This is a great little counter top restaurant, small and quiet but full. Dress is super casual, with stellar service from the entire hotel staff. It’s a fun place to eat and will be returning.

Yelp
This place was SO FUN and had a cool vibe. It felt like a very fancy Waffle House and we were able to watch all our breakfast food be cooked right in front of us. We were in and out quickly and the staff was kind. I got the chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes. Those were absolutely delicious. My mom got the French toast and she loved it! Wish I was local, so I could eat there again soon!

Yelp
We went in for brunch on a Thursday. We were able to sit immediately. The service was fast and they were able to accommodate for gluten sensitivity. The beef hash scramble was delicious. It is served with hash brows. The meat was nicely seasoned and had a tangy flavor to it, very nice touch. Will definitely be bacn

Yelp
Well over ten years has passed since my first visit. I'm not sure what brought me back besides me just passing through the area...maybe it was seeing plenty of parking on the side street that convinced me. This time it was kind of crowded, but I was able to find a seat at the very far end furthest from the door. I was tended to right away, and this time I went with a chicken salad sandwich, side of bacon, and those hash browns. The latter counted as my side for the sandwich, which was nice since I really was trying to not eat chips that day. I did end up getting the chocolate milkshake, which was just as decadent as it was last time. I did have to take some of this with me since it was a lot of milkshake, even though I didn't have the extra as I did the first time I enjoyed this, but it was probably better off there wasn't any leftover. Service was 10/10; it's the Beverly Hills Hotel after all, and the high expectations were met. I interacted with a couple different employees, and they were wonderful. I hope less than ten years pass before my next visit, but I anticipate I'll enjoy it just as much as I did today.

Yelp
An historical landmark. This is such a magical little coffee shop. It's like stepping back into time. I'm gonna give away a little secret, but my favorite is to walk directly into the hotel through the side garden entrance by the bungalows and pass by the Polo Lounge. It's so nice to enter this way, under all the palm trees, and you feel like you're really being transported into some old Beverly Hills/Hollywood glamor. Then you go inside and take the carpeted stairs at the left down to this wonderful coffee shop. The hotel completely restored the 19 bar stools that surround the classic curved soda fountain counter, built in 1949. Walls have the signature banana leaf wallpaper. It's like the perfect old-school diner. You could be in an "I love Lucy" episode. In fact, I'm sure Lucille Ball ate here a few times since her house was a few blocks away. Super service and you watch them prepare everything in front of you. I love taking friends from out of town here because you'll always get some sort of "star sighting"...Maybe an older actor who was on "Friends" wearing dark glasses will be sitting in the corner discussing a project like the last time I was here. There's always some interesting character reading a newspaper. And they make the greatest pecan waffles in town. And a fabulous Eggs Benedict with the freshest hollandaise. Of course the prices are higher than what you would pay at any diner, but honestly it's as close to perfection that you can get for this kind of thing. Plus the pecan waffles and pancakes have real maple syrup. Come here as an experience and definitely a treat; it's something everyone who visits Beverly Hills should try at least once. Especially a good option if you have a problem getting a table or reservation at the Polo Lounge and want something last minute. It's great fun. A lot of people that live in the neighborhood use this place as their canteen so it does get quite busy. As it only has 19 seats and the stools are fixed and don't move, there's no squeezing in. But if you go mid-week, maybe for a late breakfast, there may not be much of a crowd. On a weekend you may have to wait in line. If you want one, you can also request the famous McCarthy salad that they have from upstairs in the Polo Lounge. I hope they never change this place because it's pink mid-century perfection Hollywood diner style as far as I'm concerned. Just remember it closes daily at 4pm.

Yelp
A solid waffle, lovely staff, and a totally off-the-beaten path experience. 10/10 would go again -- but go early!!

Yelp
When I come into town I bop on over to the fountain room at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It's a little cafe at the bottom of the stairs. I devour these fluffy dollar pancakes and sip my coffee or grab a fresh juice.

Yelp
I love this spot! It is quaint, intimate, lovely, cheerful, fun and delicious! It is inside the Beverly Hills hotel. The service is so friendly and attentive. The cook is incredible. Everything comes out so quickly, hot and delightful. We ordered the Florentine Benedict, silver dollar pancakes and a breakfast order with scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon. The pancakes are out of this world. Make sure to check it out!

Yelp
Iconic diner within the Beverly Hills Hotel, established 1949. The interior features a 19 seater curved bar, in a classic soda fountain style. While beautifully restored, all of the original details and decor are maintained. They are open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dessert, and dinner Thursday-Sunday. Reservations are not required. My husband and I came here for breakfast while staying at the hotel, and had a wonderful time. My Americano was packed with perfectly pulled espresso, and the freshly squeezed 24 Carrot Gold juice was delicious. You absolutely must order the Silver Dollar Buttermilk Pancakes, which are among the best pancakes I've ever had. A simple breakfast for two was $100, before tip. Prices are obviously comically inflated, but you're paying for the ambience, and it's worth it. Service was lovely; all of the staff seem happy to be there. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Tip: if you're coming in to order to go, just walk straight in and stay to the left side and you'll find the counter/register. They also validate parking which is nice if you're just visiting. My family and I happen to be wandering around Rodeo Drive and we've always wanted to check out the vibes at the Beverly Hills Hotel. We made the quick drive and found street parking easily. The hotel was still decorated for the holidays which was nice for my children to experience. Since it was after the holiday rush there wasn't much of a crowd. We checked out the gift shop and decided to grab some coffee as we headed out. I sat down at the counter and was promptly given a menu, I expressed that I was interested in placing a to go order and was asked to come around the side. 2 lattes, 2 chocolate croissants and one sticky pecan bun. The bun was the star of the show. I would come back solely for that. It was so good. The packaging is cute. Everything in the hotel is adorable and the staff is so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend coming here. Preferably to go as the seating inside is very limited but if you have a small group or a breakfast date it would be a super cute and intimate time.

Yelp
Paul Williams designed cafe with a distinctive curvature hidden downstairs at The Beverly Hills Hotel since 1949? Yes please. I'm a sucker for hotel opulence and equally a sucker for down home diner grub and pub fare and you kinda get both here at The Fountain Coffee Shop. The hotel is straight up one of the classiest in Los Angeles and truly a classic. So there's that. But what's nice about this place downstairs is it's decided lack of pretension when considering that right upstairs is The Polo Lounge, a restaurant that defines hotel restaurant fine dining at its best... I peruse the menu after my dental appointment in Beverly Hills and decide upon traditional eggs benedict. It's good. Edible, for sure, and I hit it with salt and pepper and it gets even better. The hash browns it comes with are pretty average and need the help of Tabasco too. The friendly and very attentive waiters and waitresses here never left me wanting for a refill on coffee and I must have had 4 or 5 of the small cups... all in all a very fun meal that, just by the design of the place, will have you talking to those eating near you and to those on the other side of the counter. All in, the $35 bill is exorbitant considering you can get an eggs benedict with coffee at Norm's or Denny's for half the price and the food would be every bit as good, but you don't go to Beverly Hills for deals. You come for the experience of something special and The Fountain Coffee Shop is just that, a joyful and special experience.

Yelp
I came here this morning. I mean real early, like at 7am when they open. I ordered freshly made carrot juice, and my new usual, smoked salmon Benedict. The food was delicious. By 8am, it was packed with people and many waiting outside for seats to open up. The service felt rushed, so therefore, I felt rushed. I saw a few celebrities in here, great people watching. The staff felt overwhelmed, it looked like. So, the service was just ok. The food was yummy, but is it worth waiting outside for a spot to open at the bar type diner.....not really. If you're claustrophobic, it's not recommended. It's first come, first served here. No reservations accepted. Go early.....

Tamara M.

Yelp
If you want something casual for brunch this is it! It's small and only seats around 20 at a time but worth the wait. The service is also great Ruth is the best. She's so kind and friendly. The ambiance is very Intimate but not romantic if that makes sense. The food is spectacular and my favorite is the freshly squeezed juices.

Yelp
I love this place, the food is delicious and the service is the best. Eucario is my favorite, very profesional and friendly.

Yelp
Cute diner vibes! I haven't been to a diner-like place in so long, so it was great to go to a place like this. Our waitress was super helpful, charming, and attentive to our needs. I got the eggs benedict (~$25), which was good, but definitely pricier than your typical eggs benedict. This place is located inside a very luxurious hotel. Super upscale, but cool vibes. Highly recommend trying this place!
google avatar

Pierce R.

Yelp
The best hidden gem breakfast in Beverly Hills in my opinion, the eggs are so fluffy and the service is very consistent and historic, some staff have been there over 25 years!
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Located in the Beverly Hills Hotel, the coffee shop is a small, intimate, diner style setting, with amazing, simple, diner type dishes. Sandwiches, breakfast dishes & even burgers are available all day. The silver dollar pancakes are a must! The only downside - it's a small space, so you may have to wait for a seat!

Yelp
Met up with a friend for brunch. It was a little fun to find, making my way around the hotel -but eventually made it and I have nothing less than positive reviews about this little spot. | Atmosphere | "1950's-style counter service" pop-up that is nestled in their tropical outdoor area next to the Polo Lounge. It has high-top seating at the bar which can fit about 8 people, or more. Also there are a few little high top tables that fit 2-4 people each as well. Much smaller than the Polo Lounge with an on-the-go morning feel. I'd say the wait on a Sunday at noon is around 20-25 minutes; walking up. They do not take reservations. | Staff | is so polite and hospitable. Unfortunately, I did not catch my waiters name but he was a sweet Spanish gentleman and had dark black hair and smiled every time he spoke with us. His happiness made our experience feel welcoming and warm! We surely will be back again because of this memory. And great food of course! | Food | plenty of dishes like egg plates and healthy options specifically designated on the menu. As well as salads and sides additionally, mentions of juice and adult beverages. I ordered a chef's salad bowl ($24) and the avocado toast ($23) with an extra egg on the side ($5). Also we ordered a bottle of Prosecco for ($74) and fresh squeezed o.j. ($12). Very filling breakfast and wonderful salad. I'm already craving another one! | parking | Is either through valet by driving up. You can get your ticket validated for a few dollars off. I parked on the street for free. It's just before the hotel if you're heading west on Sunset. Just on the street there you can't miss it. There were plenty of spots. The grounds are beautiful and I can't wait to visit again. The food is always fresh at the Beverly Hills Hotel every time I've been here. Always worth a visit here and you'll feel like a movie start living the secret high life.

Yelp
it was one of worst breakfast's I've had!!! first toast was even toasted. the hash browns were cooked all the way through!!! the corn beef hash was burned and i mean burned! the vanilla latte was the only thing good. i can't believe they couldn't believe they couldn't even do toast! i should have sent it back. be believe the posting that say it good it.it's expensive to be so bad. there are so many great restaurants go to one them

Yelp
Here's my tip (that I always tell everyone especially when it comes to breakfast)--Get there early. We arrived around 9:30am and the place was packed. Granted--this is a hotel so everyone is usually eating breakfast around that time. We waited for about 10 minutes for a seat which wasn't too bad. I ordered the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict which was great! The place was pretty packed but there was a lot of servers working so I felt like the service could have been better. No coffee refills unless you ask :/ I'd love to revisit their place and try something new--hopefully the service is a little better!
google avatar

Yelp
So much fun to eat at the counter here. Great place to bring your friends and family in town for celebrity sightings. Classic, slightly expensive and quality greasy spoon food. I had the smoked salmon omelette with hash browns and it was yummy. The hashbrowns were some of the best. Friends' fresh juice orders were good too.
google avatar

Yelp
Never ever have I paid $10 for a small coffee in my life and I'm pretty sure the Beverly Hills Hotel is one of the few places can get away with it. The Fountain Coffee Room is located on the lower level and fairly small with seating at the bar only. When I asked for a menu, I was told they don't have one and I could order anything I wanted. That already blew my mind and not knowing the prices, I was best off just requesting a mocha to go. Made beautifully with meticulous care in front of my eyes it was delicious. Creamy and chocolaty, but I could still taste the coffee, a shame it was so small, I could have instantly had another, really one of the best coffees I have ever had. The decor is old school but lined in the famous banana leaf wallpaper which alone is worth stopping in for. While I don't have the funds to indulge here daily, if I could I would.
google avatar

Annette B.

Yelp
In terms of looks alone, this place exudes old Hollywood charm and totally has the look and feel of an old albeit very classy soda fountain. Honestly, I feel like I stepped into a Fred and Ginger movie when I'm there. The prices here are higher, which I think should be expected since this is the Beverly Hills Hotel. With that being said, the grapefruit juice and tuna melt that I ordered were the best of my life. I love that you can see the grapefruits being pressed right in front of you, which is so cool to witness. Everything is obviously very fresh here. My only complaint here was the service. This is a small space with three people working the counter, but somehow they aren't terribly good at checking in with people or noticing when someone is ready to order or pay a bill. They hand you a menu straight away but good luck getting attention from that point onward. Even though the service wasn't great, I do still want to go back at some point and try their homemade ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here because my mom was in town and originally had reservations to the cabana cafe but they closed down temporarily. So we went to the fountain room instead. I know it's history and figured this way my mom could experience a breakfast here instead. While it's cute in its own way, the menu is definitely paired down compared to the polo lounge and cabana cafe. It's more retro diner style with basics like fried eggs, pancakes and pie. If you're looking for a simple meal, this is it, but I don't think the quality of food matches the pricing, our food was meh. It's definitely priced for tourists and the name. It's decor is still very cute, but just different. I will mention the service was very friendly though. I'm hoping to come back and show my mom the cabana cafe instead.

Yelp
Your classic countertop only diner in the most unlikely place. Located down a short spiral staircase in the luxurious Beverly Hills hotel, you would never know this place existed unless you stayed here or lived in the neighborhood like Taylor Swift. They serve your classics like bacon n eggs, waffles, pancakes etc. I opted for the eggs Benedict. The food is good, but you are more here for the experience. Interacting with the waiters and cooks and other patrons is a reason to come in itself. I sat next to fellow sneakerhead and hypebeast. We talked about out collections, brands, favorites etc. it was so fun. The waiter are very friendly and have great stories to tell!!!! I just loved everything about this small unknown, yet busy, 20 seat diner.
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming here all my life and I'm finally leaving a review! Ruth has seen me grow into who I am and I'm so thankful! All those years sitting at the bar eating pancakes and burgers. Love love love!

Yelp
What a charming little spot on the lower level of the Beverly Hills hotel! I pictured this as a quaint, classic, old school diner, which is exactly what it is. There are about 20 seats wrapped around a breakfast bar, so it's definitely not a spot for groups. I came for the homemade ice cream sundae, which at $12 a pop is fairly expensive, but hey, you're in the Beverly Hills Hotel so what do you expect. You pick your flavor (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry) and your topping (hot fudge or fresh strawberries). When they first brought out the sundaes they looked pretty basic.. but it's the ice cream itself that really make it stand out (for $8 you can get ice cream without the toppings). The vanilla was good, but the strawberry blew me away. It was bursting with strawberry flavor and very natural tasting... perhaps the best strawberry ice cream I've ever had. This is primarily a breakfast spot, even though in my head I imagined it as a dessert spot (I think the word "fountain" in the name). Service is great! There were only single seats when we arrived but they asked people to move down for us and because there aren't that many seats, they are fairly attentive. Not pretentious at all. $9 valet parking with validation.

Yelp
The most noir coffee counter ever. In that 1950s Becerly Hills manner. It's not really a food or drink thing but the landscape itself. An important Los Angeles experience.
google avatar

Yas E.

Yelp
Went here for brunch during Covid when they built a Fountain Coffee Room outside. They tried to make a diner vibe outside and did a great job. It's first come first serve so it might take a while to be seated on the weekends. The waiters/waitresses have been working there for 20 plus years and are extra friendly. It is overpriced a little but worth it. I loved the vegetable egg white omelet, blueberry silver dollar pancakes, and smoked salmon plate.
google avatar

Yelp
Just driving into the parking lot and through the pristine red carpet and lobby makes you feel like a star...and suddenly you go to the basement and you become real and at home. Many feelings will possess you in your time travel...and you will love the casual and yet amazing mood created in this small kitchen/bar where four waiters will great you like family. The chef will never look up because , with two electric burners he will be creating poached eggs, hash, waffles, bacon and warm syrup to accompany your perfect coffee in white china. I don't want to leave but the pool is waiting....with its amazing bar....

Yelp
What a hidden gem this place is. I can't say enough of how amazing the food and service is here. My fiancé who I die for introduced me to this place. I never knew it even existed. We went one morning with her father and me and her. I was shocked how good it was. It's a small little 20 person restaurant. It feels like you are at a bar ordering food. Everyone is moving around quickly to get orders done. Their coffee is phenomenal. Pancakes are insane!!!! We ordered - Eggs, potatoes, turkey bacon - Pan cakes - fruit plate - coffee Everything and I mean everything tasted incredible. I'm probably going to go back again tomorrow morning but the prices are INSANE. Thank G-D I'm literally at work at the moment writing this review so I can go tomorrow and pay for this expensive breakfast.

Yelp
What a cute little diner centered in the lower area of the "Beverly Hills Hotel." If you're an all day breakfast indulger (like myself) than you'll love this diner. I believe it opens at 7am and closes at 7pm. Prices are higher than a typical diner (e.g one waffles is $21), but you're paying for convenience. Besides it's cheaper than the Polo Club (LOL) located upstairs. Pros - Serves Breakfast until 7pm - Lunch/Dinner too! - Coffee is delicious - Signature waffles, Pancakes and Hash-browns are delicious.

Yelp
If you want a quintessential LA experience, then a stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel should be on your list. This big pink building has been an icon of the city, and its stars, for generations. The Polo Lounge is still a popular industry place to "do lunch." Valet parking is $9 with validation. Simple, and they don't look down on you if you arrive in less than a Rolls. Everyone is extremely nice (as they should be at a lux place, but they are genuine, too). The Fountain Coffee shop is downstairs from the Polo Lounge. It's a small room, lined with the hotel's famed palm wallpaper. There are no tables, just one long, curvy counter. And tall stools are bolted to the floor, so some are easier to get in than others, depending on the angle of the curve. I ordered the Grilled Russian on Rye (Turkey, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing) and my friend ordered the The Novogroder (Turkey Burger with Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Grilled Onions, Cheddar Cheese and Russian Dressing). Sandwiches are $22, so it's not cheap, but it's an experience. Both were big, messy, delicious, and very filling. The staff is very pleasant and the napkins! OK, I don't think I've ever liked a restaurant napkin enough to actually buy one, but I bought one at the gift shop just down the hall. They're extremely high-quality woven cotton, pink with the hotel's crest on it. Very cool. This is a fun place to come to feel like you've gone back in time.

Yelp
I ordered the silver dollar pancake bites with their Grade-A Vermont syrup. The batter was great; it was fluffy and had a creamy texture. Typical pancake really, it's just pricey due to the location. The syrup made the difference here! Great tasting syrup!! The seating was nuts; just a Long Island in the middle that seats about 20 people. Not cool. Lol Service was limited too. There were two servers and one cook which the cook handled everything on his own from prep to cooking. The drip coffee here is plain and nothing special. Tasted like cheap coffee which disappointed me but oh well. I'd still come back! Thanks!

Yelp
We came here for the milkshakes!... we were severely disappointed. $10 for a mediocre milk shake at best. Ridiculous. I guess that's what you get in Beverly Hills. The employees within this establishment were rude and disrespectful. Pretty much ignored us(not everyone else around) until we had to pretty much single out a worker in order to get helped. As soon as we told them we wanted milk shakes, their faces went sour. They also proceeded to talk trash about us and our order in another language(Spanish if you're wondering, and I understood every single word). 30 plus minutes for mediocre overpriced milkshakes? Never again. Overall very disappointing experience. I definitely do not recommend this establishment.

Yelp
I'd been dying to go to the Beverly Hills hotel and planning a breakfast date for my best friend and I here gave me the perfect excuse. We got the Benedict, berry pancakes, oj, and coffee. Definitely pricey but all the food was delicious. The price you pay is for the atmosphere! Service was great. Can't wait to go back. Valet parking is 12$ with validation.

If you want to pay a lot of money for Denny's quality diner food, this is the perfect place to go!

Yelp
Thank you Ruth and the rest of the staff for being so genuine and making my first visit to the Fountain Room such a nice experience. The breakfast was hot and tasty and I really like the coffee you serve. The environment is comfortable and welcoming, I will be back.

Yelp
Astounded by the star ratings given to this place. You can find this cafe located in the underbelly of the posh-ish Beverly Hills Hotel. At the size of a studio apartment's bathroom, theis place boasts around 15 barstool seats that face the grill. The staff are semi-attentive. The food is underwhelming, surprisingly cheap ingredients compared to the exorbitant cost. Really, the only plus is watching the patrons looking around to see if anyone famous is sitting near them. Surprise, they live in Beverly Hills, they're not coming here to eat. If you're looking for a cramped, over priced, contentintal breakfast in the dungeon of the Beverly Hills Hotel, then this is the spot for you.

Yelp
A favorite. Amazing hash browns. Great coffee. The staff is fantastic. At a friend's suggestion last time I went bold and had grilled cheese for breakfast. Great call. The vegan faux eggs Benedict is even great. I can't believe I said that.

Yelp
Matt B. and I spent our anniversary weekend at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and we came to the Fountain Coffee Room for Saturday and Sunday brunch. The place is charming and little, very much a part of the hotel, tucked on a lower level with no windows and Beverly Hills Hotel wallpaper. It has a completely casual, unpretentious diner vibe, with an enormously expensive casual, unpretentious diner menu. I would have assumed it catered exclusively to hotel guests, but we gathered, from the chatter in the room, that a lot of the customers are regulars. I guess the people of Beverly Hills don't mind paying double for their scrambled eggs. I will say it was a really pleasant place. Tiny with an open kitchen and counter seating. Friendly service. I could see myself being a regular if I had no opinions on menu pricing. As it was I restrained myself from ordering the $17 Bloody Mary. Matt asked, as coolly as possible, if there were refills for coffee (yes, there were). The food was solid, simple fare. I had a lox and bagel platter with tomato, capers, and onions for Saturday breakfast. It was good. Definitely hit the spot. Sunday, hung over after a wedding, I had a sautéed chicken breast sandwich with a side of cole slaw. It came on a burger bun with a standard run of vegetables, mayo, mustard. The chicken was on the dry side, but the sandwich was serviceable. Matt had waffles both days. Good waffle. $14. I'd definitely recommend the Fountain Coffee Room to guests at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The food is decent, the atmosphere quaint and comfortable. It's also nice to dine in when you're staying at a resort hotel. Otherwise, though, I wouldn't say it's worth seeking out. You can get a better hearty breakfast for half the money elsewhere.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and frequent polo lounge quite a bit and one day decided let's try Fountain Coffee and boy am I glad we did! The quaint diner feel in the middle of Beverly Hills hotel transports you back to a time where everything seemed simpler and there is no BH ego or bouginess and everyone is just sweet! It feels like Cheers! Denise, who works behind the bar makes the place feel friendly and always has the answer to anything you ask and is so accommodating to any crazy dietary requests that you make and trust me, I have made some crazy ones. Her personality and energy is contagious and another reason we love to go to the diner! Food is always on point and made on a grill top right in front of you so you can see what you are getting and no surprises when you get your food. Best part of this diner is they serve breakfast ALL DAY! So when that french toast is calling your name for dinner - this is the place to run to or when your up before all of BH on a Sunday morning and can't decide to where to quench your pancake cravings - this is the place to go!

Yelp
Aside from a simple menu elegantly presented and full of flavor, the fountain coffee shop has a delightful cast of characters behind the counter who cater to all of your whims. Great for a quick bite at the counterOr a special lunch with friends. Highly recommend visiting.

Yelp
Location -A. Decor- A ( because I like the kitschy tone). Friendly staff-A. Cleanliness -A. Food-C. ( insert waaaa-waaaaa deflating horn sound). Jealous, seething looks flooded the valet area when we pulled up in my Subaru Outback into the Beverly Hills Hotel, famous Beverly Hills Landmark, famous for such Hollywood royalty gracing its red carpet entrance such as Elizabeth Taylor, Howard Hughes, Bob Hope, Marilyn Monroe, etc. It was updated and looked to have a polished look, newer carpets and furniture, but staying in its old mid century luxurious grandeur. We went to the Fountain Coffee Shop and we were surprised it's literally like a tiny room with a diner counter with about 20 seats. Luckily, there was 4 seats together and we sat down. The lady behind the counter took our drink orders, hot tea for my older daughter and myself (we each got a diner style white, plastic teapot), hot chocolate for my younger daughter and water for hubs. I loved the soft pink Beverly Hills Hotel linen napkins and proper table setting for a diner. The sugar packets even are pink and white and have the BHH logo. "Toots adorbs," said my younger daughter. I ordered ONE egg and it comes with a patty of hash browns, and a bagel. Blech! The hash browns were dry, slightly burnt and bland! The simple egg was just a scrambled egg, and my "plain" bagel I think was onion, not good with the cream cheese and raspberry jelly I smeared on it. My daughter ordered grilled cheese and fries. Texas toast style sandwich and crispy, delicious fries. French toast for the younger one. Full disclosure; she has a refined palette for a kid, she said the toast was also bland and nothing special. However, she did appreciate the cute, little bottle of grade A Vermont syrup instead of the gross corn syrup stuff most diners hand out. Husband got 2 eggs, chicken-apple sausage and dry, wheat toast. He shrugged it was pretty basic. Bill-$102. You pay for location and history here, not the food quality. The Polo Lounge upstairs has the same look as the diner/coffee shop. Check out the hotel and pool, you can feel the old-timey Hollywood vibe is still alive and well.

Yelp
B-E-S-T D-I-N-E-R in Los Angeles!!! Why is it the best diner in Los Angeles? The Food. The Service. The Ambience. The Celebrities. The History. And yes, all those things deserve to be capitalized. You might find slightly better food or service at other establishments, but you won't find all of what I listed at the same place as strongly and beautifully represented as here, at The Fountain Coffee Shop. This place is excellent. Enjoy it's greatness, and you will be changed forever, as I have. Big Time!

Yelp
The food was fine...simple and satisfying...but not innovative. What really is great is the ambiance. I felt like I was in another time where service mattered, cleanliness ruled, and classic style was king. No loud music...no sense of having to rush to eat and get out. They were also open to customization -- I asked for spinach with my scrambled eggs and they were able to bend the rules. A couple next to us had a lot of customized requests and those were handled with ease. The only caveat is the parking fee to access the restaurant; I don't think there are any other parking options. But, I guess if you're shelling out the dough to eat here, a valet charge is a piece of cake.

Yelp
Very average food for crazy prices. Equivalent to any street side deli. Juices are nearly 20 dollars each and are also very average. I was not pleased at all

Yelp
LOVE the fountain coffee room at the BH hotel! I always get the cheese burger but I keep hearing about the pancakes so I I will have to try them on my next visit! All of the servers have been fantastic and been there a long time! I also love the retro banana leaf wallpaper! It's definitely a hangout spot for Beverly Hills locals with alot of regulars! We are lucky enough to live a mile up the road from it and always run into someone we know there!

Yelp
A $10 small coffee? Unheard of right? Nope, not at the Fountain Coffee Shop. Although, it was really good, I don't believe that it was $10 worthy. The iced tea is also $6. It is mostly ice and the cup isn't that big. So basically, you can buy a small iced tea at this coffee shop or you could go to In N Out Burger and get a Double-Double combo meal. Hmmmmm... The food here isn't bad, though. The silver dollar pancakes are very good. I haven't tried many dishes here, but the pancakes have never disappointed me so I recommend getting the pancakes when coming here.

Yelp
Had this place always been mediocre it could receive an extra star for ignorance. A star for ignorance, yes. Unfortunately, when falling from such great heights, you can afford, and you deserve, only one star. There is no excuse here. I even asked, is this a new corned beef hash recipe? No? Nothing? Okay. Well, why is it watery, smell like tuna, and taste like off pickles today then? If this is right, I want to be as wrong as socks with sandals. If any of this were how the previously exemplary specimens of basic breakfast food tasted, I wouldn't have continued patronage here for close to a decade. The poached egg consistency was wrong, and when the consistency was made right the egg itself tasted of some tangy accent. What the hell happened to this place? Never coming back. Fear not though, The Beverly Hotel hasn't lost a customer, they've lost an entire restaurant along with the highest quality which previously backed it. Los Angeles just lost one of the good ones.
