The Best Fried Chicken in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Luckily, chef Carl’s fried chicken Mondays at the Roosevelt are back and better than ever in the hotel’s Fountain Lounge. The set menu offers fried chicken, biscuits, coleslaw, red beans and rice, and cobbler, and it is some of the best chicken in town." - Beth D’Addono

The Fountain Lounge Brings Back Carl’s Fried Chicken - Eater New Orleans

"The Fountain Lounge at The Roosevelt New Orleans is introducing a new whole-week happy hour to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Mondays bring the re-introduction of Carl’s Fried Chicken and traditional sides; Tuesdays through Thursdays from 5:30pm until 7 is a DIY cocktail station, where folks can make their own cocktails with Tito’s Vodka and various accoutrements like fresh fruits and herbs." - Alison Baitz

Stayed at The Roosevelt and decided to dine here. We enjoyed the meal. The gumbo was very good- just the perfect savory start to the meal. We moved onto the beat salad - fresh and flavorful. We shared the burger with truffle fries and crab cake. All flavorful and hot off the grill. It was Sunday night so there was no live music and it was a little sleepy but overall a very good experience. I would say a solid 4.

From the moment we walked into the Fountain Lounge at the Waldorf Astoria in New Orleans, the service was outstanding. It’s rare to have an experience where every team member you encounter is exceptional, but this was one of those rare instances. The staff went above and beyond, creating a seamless and memorable evening. A special thank you to Liam (Host), Thedriana (Server), Ronnie (Food Runner), and Eddie (Server) for their attentiveness and hospitality. Their service truly elevated the experience. The live music added to the ambiance, and the atmosphere exuded understated elegance—classic New Orleans charm at its finest. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink or a full meal, this is a spot worth visiting for both its refined setting and impeccable service. Highly recommend!

No vegan option on the menu. We had to remove both feta and egg from the avocado toast and still be charged $17 for this (before tax and tips). There was barely any avocado on the toast (see picture) and they charged us an extra $10 for a side of avocado. The breakfast potatoes were average at best. Not cut, nor properly cooked, nor tasty. Honestly that was the worst meal we had so far in New Orleans, and it came from our apparently 5* hotel ! The service was sloppy. After a long wait, when I asked where was the extra avocado, the waitress gave me the pearl : “they have to cut the avocado and slice it”. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

Did a Réveillion dinner at the Fountain Lounge in the Roosevelt Hotel before the Pelicans VS Knicks game. The place was pretty loud, but it is the holidays, the lights are very pretty and picture worthy. The customer service was good, the atmosphere was busy and the food was amazing!

Service differed per staff. Some staff were excellent and exhibited excellent service, while some staff could use reminding of the importance of customer service when servicing customers. Enjoyed dinner here on Monday. The service, food, and atmosphere were great. On Wednesday, we decided to have breakfast here. While the lounge was not crowded and there was no one other than my husband and myself waiting to be seated, it took the more than sufficient staff longer than 10 minutes to seat us. There was absolutely no greeting or response to my greeting. We ordered coffee, and by the time we chased someone down for cream, the coffee was no longer hot. A young woman asked (almost under her breath) if we were ready to order. We gave her our orders, and she walked away. Her attitude almost seemed bothered even though we were as kind as we could be (I never express dissatisfaction in eateries for fear my food might suffer). Fortunately, things picked up, and the young woman who refilled our coffee was very kind as well as the gentleman who served us our meal. The breakfast was very good and more than met with my expectations.

The food was good but, less than what we expected. Drinks were in my opinion overpriced and the wine tasted watered down. We ordered a cheese plate as an appetizer before the meal. The cheese plate arrived the same time as our main course. Needless to say it was overrun by the main course. The main course was good but again not to the level of the price. We spoke to Sam, who was the floating manager going from table to table, about the cheese plate issue. She said absolutely the cheese plate should have came out first and that she was sorry. Sam could see that most of the cheese plate was still there, but did not follow up or take it off of our ticket. We will not return or recommend this restaurant.

One of my favorite locations for breakfast is at The Fountain Lounge at The Roosevelt. I am a frequent visitor to the hotel, and every time I stay, I eat at The Fountain Lounge. I always request to be seated in Glen’s area because he is by far the best waiter I have experienced. He knows what I want to order without having to ask, and he is always attentive and ensures my experience is better than the time before. My last visit was for a birthday, and he catered to the whole table. He ensured everyone was satisfied with their order, and he went above and beyond for each person in the party. He is very professional, and I commend him for his dedication and awesome customer service. If a breakfast item on the buffet is not fresh, I just inform Glen, and he corrects it immediately. The food is always great, and the omelet bar is very good. There are several options at the omelet bar, and each omelet is prepared based on the customers selections. Also, I recommend the shrimp and grits located near the omelet bar. It is seasoned well, and gives you an authentic creole experience. I would highly recommend the restaurant. Even if you can not make it for breakfast, they reopen at 5 for dinner, and the dinner is good as well. I’ve never had a bad experience, and I have been well over 20 times for breakfast and dinner. Also, ask for Glen, but if he’s not available, I know the others will be just as great. They are all very professional.
