Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market

This is a great farmers market, albeit smaller than the other city markets. But it is a nice market - good produce, range of other small vendors. You can drop off your compost - AND loads of free parking (huge benefit over the other markets). Love that they are really championing providing access to fresh produce to all income levels. Great to bring kids to as well, lots of room to run around.

I'm so glad this place is going strong after the death of the market founder. There's usually produce, compost drop off, and coffee. Nature by Design has started coming to sell plants (their current retail location is closed).

One of my favorites! Highly recommend the cheese stall, also for the produce and apple cider donuts. She is very nice and knowledgeable, plus very helpful in trying to figure out how to use or store stuff when needed. Her tips for berries were great. The tomatoes were excellent as well. My favorite cheeses have been goat feta, bouche (cave aged cheddaresque cheese), and smyte (mild and creamy cheese).

A good place for the Arlington and Alexandria (hence Arlandria) communities to connect, get great prepared and grocery food, and compost their food scraps too. A wonderful market, easy to teach by multiple bike paths, and an enjoyable location.

Limited vendors sometimes but good if you go early for essential farmers market items like prepared food, dairy, vegetables, etc.

Small market but was able to find everything I was looking for. Vendors are very helpful, parking was easy.

Visited this market in April, 2023 and it had very few shops. I expected a handful of shops to pick fruits and vegetables but I was totally disappointed to find only 1 shop with very limited variety

There were only 3 vendors their no problem but the one vendors stuff looked old and not cheap . The other vendor did have ok looking stuff but it just wasn't appealing and again not cheap since it wasn't good . Sorry I always do great reviews but this market was sad .

This is a cute and functional farmers market. Very easily accessible by bicycle, with a bikeshare station nearby. There's some street parking around but not a lot. The market is never very large - sometimes, there will only be a handful of vendors. But there's always a decent selection of items, and most vendors of prepared items have vegan friendly options as well. Bonus points for the live music most weekends. You'll also find other community services during the market, such as covid testing or information about recreational opportunities. Compost cab is also here every Sunday to collect food waste.

Mystery Novel Review for Baked By Yael: As the confusion set in, his head started to swim. It was like a panicked violin concerto took over his senses. He looked slowly to the right then to the left. Everything that he thought he knew... All that he assumed... Wrong. Dead wrong. the whole time? The Whole Time? THE WHOLE TIME?! So he started picking apart his experience from the Farmers Market. Dissecting it with careful precision. What did he miss? Why would he come to such drastic conclusions without the slightest preponderance of evidence. It was a fantasy world that he had constructed for himself. A matrix of his own doing. ...Or was it so drastic of a conclusion to make. A young friendly woman with wirey light hair pulled back into a pony tail grabs her small cash box. "Hi how are you doing!" " Oh I'm fine.. how can I help you" She responds in an innocent soft voice. "Oh... I just wanted to know how much a dozen bagels would be" "Oh that's 24 dollars" She shuffles her cash box, "I'm sorry, I'm just about set up. I'll be with you in just a second" Two dollars per bagel. That seems like a lot. How much do bagels cost again, he thought to himself? Whatever it was, he wasn't in the position to bargain. He was throwing a brunch in 3 hours and had several other critical stops he needed to make. Including Costco on a Saturday morning. "OK... I'll take a dozen!" As she loaded the bagels into the quintessential large brown bagel bag, he realized they were a bit smaller than other bagels; total hallmark. Ah yes, these were homemade bagels. Definitely hand-shaped by the looks of them. Little did she know that he had made bagels of his own before. And little did she know, he could see the thinning dough near the bagel connection from a mile away. But having made bagels before, he knew that process, and chutzpah it took to have these hundred-something bagels, all ready by 9am in the morning when the market opened. If he tried to make his own bagels that morning, it would almost be assured that the brunch wouldn't be served anywhere close to 11am when his guests were planning on coming over. She loads them into the bag that is stamped lightly with the Baked By Yael Logo. On such a large bag, the logo captured a small USB sized portion of the top middle. Almost fading waldo-like into the brown background. This was a small farmers market. Seven to maybe eight vendors. This is where young woman who want to start bagel businesses get their start in the trade. Yael was living the Shark Tank dream. Soon, she'd open up her brick and morter and sell bagels to hungry Washingtonians in need of a real deal authentic bagel. She would turn her profits from her small farmers market stand into just enough to pay a lease for a few months at a 200 sq ft spot on H street and she would take one of the biggest risks in her entire life; becoming one of hundreds of city bakeries. Luckily for her, it would be in a city that thirsts for the type of authenticity that she has in ample supply. There's just one problem with that: That wasn't Yael! Those bagels weren't baked at home! And that brick and mortar that was a glint in the eyes of that young woman already existed and was pumping out cake pops and bagels galore at break neck speed! The bagel that he had this morning, lies The bagels that he served at the brunch, lies The bagels he will eat from the freezer soon enough, lies He got so wrapped up in his own self constructed dream of this bagel stand that he dreamt up a dream world. Luckily, as that world of fantasy collapsed around him, he would still have delicious chewy soft bagels to soothe his shock. Exhausted from the thought of it, he takes a bite in. His teeth sink with ease; relief.

Although this is one of the smaller farmers markets in the area, they do have enough vendors to have a pretty diverse selection. I also really love the women who run this farmers market. They are extremely friendly and by the second time I went, they could remember my daughter and me. My daughter receives food stamps, and they did not know how to get the tokens to use her food stamps at the farmers market, but jump through hoops to figure it out. If you get food stamps and want to use them at a local farmers market to help your local economy, you can do it at this one.

Went twice....so close to my house.....not worth it. I did great 2 free bike rides on capital share for 24 hours there. However there are only 2 produce vendors. Not worth it. Not super cheap. Not much to browse. Told me after the first time there would be more vendors next time....nope.

Bagel Uprising's small but perfectly textured bagels, sold at the Four Mile Run Farmers Market every Sunday starting at 10 am were the perfect way to start the morning! Get an everything bagel -- or two or three!

This is a pretty good farmer's market. I am a fan. We got to 4 mile super early and not many vendors were on site yet, which is a pet peeve of mine because if the market opens at 8am and you expect to sell your wares, you should be there at 730am at the latest. What was there was a nice array of veggies and fruit, of course it was the height of the season so moving into fall the selection may be more limited. I would say make this your first stop on a Sunday morning for your weekly grocery shopping and then hit up the Columbia Pike Farmer's Market for the rest of your culinary needs.

This is a smaller market than the ones in Del Ray or King Street. Although both of those markets are closer to me, I prefer this one. First, the layout is so much better than Del Ray, where you're constantly being run over by a stroller the size of a VW bug or struggling to figure out what is in each stall. I also like that it runs on Sundays, as that's just a more convenient morning than Saturdays, for me. They have everything I need, and more. The vendors are all local, and very friendly. I bought some plums today that were so ripe and fresh that one bite took me back into childhood memories of picking plums off my grandparents' trees all summer long. Bread and Chocolate is there, too, for lovely, delicious baked goods. The prices are very good, at least with the items that I buy. Anyway, check out this market. It's a great alternative to the other markets in town, and, as far as I know, the only one in the area that runs on Sundays. It isn't open in the winter, but for the months it's open, it will be my go to market.

If you're looking for locally grown vegetables and fruits, eggs, or meats - then this is a nice, small market to visit. Open Saturdays in the summer from 8-1, at this time there are maybe 8 to 10 tents and vendors. Worth visiting if you live nearby.

Great to have a local farmers market. Pretty good selection. They even have music some Sundays. Wish there was a little more selection, but there's only so much room in the park area.

Small as compared to other options and their largest produce vendor was a no-show the day we went. But totally worth the trip to get a dozen bagels from Bagel Uprising. If they would add a few more produce or food vendors they could actually become a nice addition to the neighborhood

This market is terrible. There is only one stand with vegetables and no fruit including berries.

Small market but I'm a big supporter of farmers, locally-owned/sourced, special purveyors. Everyone here is super nice. Dogs are allowed (yay!) I hear there's a waiting list to get into the Old Town market (which I think is waaaaay too crowded) so perhaps this market could reach out to those vendors. Would be great to see more vendors at Four Mile.
