Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis

"Why book? It feels like Four Seasons has been on a quest to drop a sleek, high-design tower into the downtown area of every interesting, up-and-coming American metropolis, and this is one of its best marriages of city and hotel in a town that really needed the brand. As at some of its other recent urban offerings in the U.S., Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis immediately became the premier place to stay in the more fun of the Twin Cities. The glassy, 36-story building offers an appealingly down-to-earth, accessible, community-minded style of luxury that’s right at home in a city renowned for its food, culture, and friendliness. Set the scene Four Seasons has explicitly set out to create a community-friendly space, and you can feel that the moment you step off the streets of the North Loop and into the spacious, art-filled lobby and the other public areas, including the cheerful, clubby Mara Restaurant and Bar and the fourth-floor Riva Terrace, instantly one of the city’s top al fresco hangout spots in the summertime. When my family ate there, a rehearsal dinner on the far side of the terrace had brought out an array of well-heeled Minnesotans in their Sunday best; the hotel also has an array of flexible gathering spaces on the second floor for weddings and corporate events. The centerpiece of the lobby is a thousand-pound bronze sculpture by local artist Bill Mack, a testament to the hotel’s commitment—also on display everywhere from the restaurants to the spa—to showcase the Twin Cities’ creative community, an appropriate mission in the city that is home to museums like the Walker, the Weisman, and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The backstory Local developer United Properties approached Four Seasons about occupying the new $480 million tower it raised at one end of Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis’s downtown pedestrian shopping thoroughfare. In addition to the hotel, the city’s first five-star address, the mixed-use building contains retail, office space, and 39 Four Seasons residences. When ground broke in 2019, nobody had ever heard the word COVID, but by the time Four Seasons Minneapolis opened in June of 2022 the hotel was actively positioning itself as a leader of the city’s comeback by providing much-needed new gathering spaces, promoting economic recovery, and becoming involved in important local causes. The rooms There are so many things to love about the guest rooms, but their best trait is the floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the Twin Cities. My suite, on a corner of the 29th floor, was particularly amazing, with views of a long stretch of the Mississippi River, Twin Towers architect Minoru Yamasaki’s Northwestern National Life Building next door, a swath of downtown Minneapolis, and the city of St. Paul, including the capitol dome, on the horizon. But all of the 222 guest rooms, which occupy the 23rd through the 30th floors of the towers, offer stellar, unimpeded sight lines. The decor is chic and modern without sacrificing comfort; many of the brand’s familiar nature-derived shapes and textures have found their way inside, from the carpets to the wall art. The in-room tech is helpful and unobtrusive, and the bathrooms (with the same floor-to-ceiling views in the immense showers) are a dream. Food and drink Four Seasons Minneapolis’s premier dining establishment is the ground-floor Mara Restaurant, whose chef is Gavin Kaysen, a local star who returned to his native city after working for Daniel Boulud to open the popular spots Spoon and Stable, Bellecour, and Demi. His local, seasonal pan-Mediterranean menu is soulful and occasionally a bit playful (try the chicken shawarma “Spam” at brunch). The interiors by AvroKo have all of the prolific interior architecture firm’s trademark qualities: they’re warm and sophisticated, eclectic but polished. A unique calling card is the kitchen’s temperature-controlled Chocolate Room, with windows that allow passersby to watch artisans preparing the confections offered throughout the hotel. Upstairs, Riva Terrace is a super-fun warm-weather spot for Italian small plates and progressive cocktails like First Light (a pineapple-run creation infused with ginger and ginseng) overlooking the outdoor pool and the office buildings of downtown. Accessible directly from Hennepin Avenue, Socca Café is a solid grab-and-go option with delicious pastries. The spa As befits a Four Seasons, the wellness offerings are comprehensive: the tranquil, full-floor facility, which has a long and varied treatment menu, includes seven treatment rooms and a generous relaxation lounge; a sauna, steam room, and cold plunge; and, critically for Minneapolis, a large indoor pool and hot tub—which come, naturally, with more stellar urban views; across the corridor, a well-equipped 24-hour fitness center has another perspective on skyline and outdoor pool plaza. The neighborhood/area The hotel sits in the North Loop area of Minneapolis, blocks away from the iconic Hennepin Street Bridge with easy access to the riverfront parks along the Mississippi, with their great cycling and walking trails and varied perspectives on the city. Downtown and the Warehouse District are close by, and numerous prime destinations are within walking distance—including the Walker Art Center, amazing restaurants like Union Hmong Kitchen and Owamni by the Sioux Chef, Target Field (home of the MLB’s Twins), and U.S. Bank Field (home of the NFL’s Vikings). The service From the valets to the front desk, the wait staff to the receptionist at the spa, the service was consistently warm and responsive without being uptight. Particular kudos for being able to respond swiftly and smoothly to special needs and impromptu requests. For families As someone who stayed at the hotel with my family, I can say unequivocally that the indoor pool was an enormous hit with my kids; there’s even a little pantry with snacks and pool toys available. The in-room teepee, excellent kids’ menus, and friendly but never patronizing demeanor of the staff are all further reasons for them to remember this stay. Adjoining rooms can be easily combined to create larger private suites. Eco effort Special acknowledgement needs to be made toward the hotel’s approach to conservation through the lens of community, an extension of Four Seasons’ corporate philosophy. As with many of its peers, the hotel strives to consume and waste less, avoids single-use plastics, prioritizes biodegradable and compostable packaging, and so on; one particularly notable program of creative reuse is the Floral Forever Project, in which botanicals and living arrangements from throughout the hotel are dried, pressed, and used in the spa. But what sets the hotel apart is its people-centric concept of sustainability, from its emphasis on local purveyors to its role in the civic life of Minneapolis, including issues like housing stability and social justice. Accessibility Four Seasons Minneapolis offers ten accessible guest rooms in all, each with wider, wheelchair accessible doors and lighting controls and thermostats within reach. Routes to reception and the concierge are also accessible, and hotel staffers receive comprehensive training on the requirements of the ADA and Human Rights Code. The spa also offers accessible treatment rooms, including roll-in showers, and the hotel pools are outfitted with lifts and accessible transfers. Anything left to mention? Want a coveted reservation at nearby Owamni, the 2022 James Beard Award winner for Best New Restaurant? A private tour of Paisley Park, Prince’s suburban mansion and recording studio? A wintertime ice-fishing excursion? Talk the concierge about what experiences you fancy—they are pros at facilitating experiences to help you get the most out of the Twin Cities while you’re visiting." - Jesse Ashlock

This was a good experience. The premises were clean and modern. The room was equipped with interesting technology. The staff was polite and housekeeping was prompt. The full service restaurant downstairs was outstanding. Prices were reasonable. I would almost certainly stay here if I returned to downtown Minneapolis.

Google
A Truly Disappointing Experience at a Supposedly Prestigious Restaurant I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was beyond unacceptable. I walked into what’s supposed to be a world-renowned restaurant — one I had genuinely looked forward to for a long time. I was seated, given a glass of water, and then completely forgotten. I sat there for over 45 minutes without a single person checking in. No menu, no service, nothing. The most baffling part? The restaurant was completely empty. There was no crowd, no rush, no reason why I should’ve been ignored so blatantly. I even tried calling the front desk of the hotel to let them know what was going on, only to be put on hold — and no one ever picked up. It felt like the whole experience was a joke or a trick being played on me. It’s incredibly disheartening to be treated like you don’t exist, especially by a place that prides itself on hospitality and prestige. This was something I had dreamed of enjoying, and instead, it left a sour memory I won’t forget anytime soon. Do better. Because right now, the only thing “prestigious” about this place is how spectacularly it fails to live up to its own reputation.

We returned to the Four Seasons Hotel in Minnesota this year with high expectations after a truly memorable experience last year. Unfortunately, this time around, the experience fell short in several ways. Last year, from the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed—staff opened the door for us, greeted us with wine, and we found champagne and cupcakes waiting in our room. It made us feel genuinely cared for and set the tone for a luxurious stay. This year, however, there was no door service, no warm greeting, and no special welcome in our room—just four small chocolates. While that’s a nice gesture, the overall welcome felt much less thoughtful and festive compared to before. We also noticed a change in staff interaction. When we greeted hotel staff around the property, many didn’t return the greeting and instead responded with a cold glance or simply walked away. It lacked the warm and engaging hospitality we remembered from our previous stay. That said, on Monday, we had a much better experience with the valet team. The gentleman we recognized from last year gave us a genuinely warm welcome and had a kind chat with us, which was a refreshing contrast to the rest of the stay. We truly hope our experience was an exception, as we’ve come to expect a higher level of hospitality from Four Seasons.

We celebrated our wedding on 5/15 and spent 2 nights in a suite (stunning views and amazing bathroom). The service was excellent starting with our request for early check-in. Everyone was very friendly and helpful in anyway that we asked. Our room was stunning! We had dinner at Mara, it exceeded our expectations, both with service and the food. We had such a good experience at dinner we decided to head down for breakfast the next morning and again, it was excellent. The car service was so nice too! We had such a good experience all around that we can't wait to come back again.

I had to travel to Minnesota during a very difficult time and the wonderful team at this impeccable property took such thoughtful care of me. From check-in to check-out my stay was flawless. I will always return to this property when I am in Minneapolis. The property itself is stunning and the team here is absolutely as kind as they can be. A special thank you to Raya at the front desk for truly going above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you.

Google
Yes it’s luxurious. I’m glad it’s full of life, attracts celebrities and the international elite. Always fun to see who you’ll meet at the pool and Mara. The moment you pull up, you are a guest. Perfect service, spa resets your mind. Even the simplest foods are made to perfection. Treat yourself, let someone else worry for a couple days, you are worth it.

A marvelous stay! My daughter booked the rooms and brought my 2 year old granddaughter with her. At check in my granddaughter was presented with a beautiful stuffed wolf. When they reached the room, they found a toy tee pee had been set up and in the closet next to the adult bathrobes was a robe just her size, with slippers to match! She felt like a princess and I loved it!! The whole weekend we were treated wonderfully by each and every staff member!! Very impressive!

Google
I’m not sure how the Four Seasons is able to find so many people who are this nice and this professional. From the young man opening our car door on arrival, to the doormen, to the front desk, to the restaurant staff…. Every single person exemplifies absolute professionalism and kindness. Upon arrival, my grandson and handicapped young adult son were greeted with a welcome wagon full of stuffed animals to choose from. Clean and comfortable room with beautiful views, delicious breakfasts with warm and caring servers, smiling faces and pleasant interaction with the doormen and valets, they do it all very well. The Four Seasons Minneapolis does it perfectly. A complaint? I couldn’t find one if I tried.

Yelp
Four seasons does it again... an impeccable stay with impeccable service and vibes. As soon as you drive up you are greeted by the valet who is welcoming, kind, and friendly. They open both doors, assist with your luggage and ask you your name so they can give you a ticket. Valet is complimentary with your stay.. what a flex. You enter into the lobby and it is clean, modern, fresh, and vibrant. The front desk staff is beyond friendly and will do anything they can within their power to make your stay the best. The room was beautiful. So clean, so inviting and so comfortable. The whole property smelled incredible and fresh. The shower was large and the water pressure was absolutely perfection. The products they use for shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap is le labo.. it smells amazing and lasts all day. I will be purchasing this for personal use. We made our way to the amenity floor and grabbed some drinks. The outdoor pool is gorgeous as well as the inside pool. The bar is nice and clean and well laid out. I will definitely be coming to this bar outside of staying here. We got room service a few times and it was great food. The service staff was friendly and quick (which is exactly what you want when getting room service). I will be staying here again. A lovely stay and a lovely experience!

Yelp
Excellent - do not hesitate to stay here. Service is above and beyond. For example, I watched the associate working the pool, Owen, bring out a dog bed for a customer's dog. He then brought out Prosecco for a couple celebrating their anniversary. And to top things off, he has been polishing sunglasses and bringing around sunscreen. In addition to the top notch service, the hotel is flawless and the rooms are beautiful. This hotel is luxurious and worth the money. The outdoor pool is great and is for guests only so it does not get crowded. There's also a large indoor pool which is nice and quiet. The gym is huge, there's a spa, restaurant, cafe, rooftop terrace, and food/drink service at the pool. You really could get away with never leaving. However, the location is wonderful, making it a very convenient place to stay for exploring Downtown. It's also only a 20 minute drive to the airport. Overall, I could not recommend a stay at Four Seasons Minneapolis more.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in the heart of Minneapolis. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff was extremely accommodating. I'd expect nothing less from Four Seasons and this location certainly delivered.

Yelp
Employees are always kind and helpful. The food at the Mara is amazing. Room service, cast to TV, valet and coffee shop are all great. Rooms are clean spacious and the beds and pillows are very comfortable I don't know why anyone would give it less than five stars. Best hotel in the cities by far!

Yelp
Do you expect dead and un-trimmed bushes at a Four Seasons. We have stayed at other Four Seasons and they attend to the meticulous little things. They do not here. Second time and no improvement on the roof top. Management I would suggest you walk around your property.

Yelp
This review is about the Nordic Village at the Four Seasons Hotel rooftop This is my first 5-star rating in a long time, and that's because the Nordic Village at the Four Seasons over-delivered! What an epic, romantic and well-thought-out experience! Right from the moment we stepped out of the lift on the 4th floor, we were met with a festive atmosphere and were immediately offered a sparkling N/A drink. We waited about 3 minutes before our cabin was ready and were ushered onto the rooftop to the Bemidji cabin. Our hostess was kind enough to take beautiful pictures of us against the stunning downtown backdrop. The cabin's interior was breathtaking- simple yet cozy and elegant. We adjusted the music to something more appealing and cranked the heater way up! They provided fluffy blankets, too. The vibe overall is quite romantic, even if it's set up to accommodate four diners. They also have cabins that sit up to 8. You would need to reserve up to a month in advance. Dinner was a four-course meal, faultless and gorgeously served. We had delicious gluten-free crackers for starters and a fluffy dessert cookie for the s'mores. It's worth noting that all our drinks were on the house. I recommend the cider tea. Our waitress was lovely and attentive; she made our experience even more memorable. I cannot recommend the Nordic Village enough.

Yelp
I have visited the spa twice since it's opening. The first was the grand opening of the spa that included a tour, food and drinks of the facility. I went shortly after for my birthday and the staff were very kind! It was quiet and calm on the day that I went which I loved! I got the Honey Haven Body Ritual! Wow it was amazing. It included a massage along with the hot honey applied to entire body. I had take a shower after the treatment while the masseuse left the room. Once they returned, I received the full body massage. What I loved most was that I could use the facilities for the remainder of the day- or however long I wanted to stay. The sauna, hot tub and heated pool were all great! I even ordered food to the pool- the food was not that good but I since I didn't come for the food no points were docked haha Definitely recommend if you want to have a full day experience.

Yelp
Four Seasons so you sort of know what to expect, but from arrival, front desk, the delicious Mediterranean food at Mara, attentive service and great if pricey wine list it was great. Beautiful view from the room and comfortable beds. Perfect delivery against expectations.

What else do you want or ask for fromnthe four seasons. Everything you want is here. No complaints whatsoever enjoy the stay

Yelp
I've been here for the spa which was an okay experience. Price was not upfront or listed so yes sticker shock when a facial came out to be $500. The spa facilities were good though relaxing and inviting and a lot of amenities. Then they lost 4 stars about a year or so back. There was at least 3-4 bartenders. 1 pixie cut white female who was serving others but didn't even want to turn slightly right to look at me after she was done. One bartender just kept walking up and down over and over to appear busy. The other 2 one brown or dirtish blond hair and one dark brown hair had a fake back and forth conversation with a sly smile because they knew they were purposely ignoring me. When one left the one with dark hair was just wiping the counters and he made direct eye contact with me. I already decided I didn't want anything within the first 15 seca of being ignored but I wanted to see how long they were going to allow this to play out. Finally a 5'5-5'5 talll dark brown hair white guy comes and asks had someone helped you yet as if he didn't know that yes all of you saw me standing here. He gets my order and I say well I was going to get a round of drinks for my friends but now I just want a lemonade and proceeds to tell me it's on the house because of the wait. My other black and brown friends were ignored as well and when my black female and Asian female friend went up to order they told her they were out of cups. I will never step foot in that establishment again. There was also a man who appeared Soith East Asian or a tan Phillipino man who maybe the boss that didn't take notice either. For some reason I have a feeling a customer actually complained that they saw me standing there and I was not being helped and they were forced to serve me. I don't feel it was through their own accord because it was so blatant as the seats emptied and I was clearly still standing there waiting to see if they'll ask if I need anything. I'm not a big drinker or even thirsty that night but really wanted to see how long they wanted to play the game. I stood there for a good 30 min.

Yelp
Omg... I can't wait to go back to Minneapolis and I will definitely stay at the four seasons. My podcast group stayed there while we were in Minneapolis. We had an absolute great experience. Allie was so nice and generous to us. We were served champagne when we arrived and also in our room. The robes were so comfy. The views were amazing and the room came with a great large and small jacuzzi and a hot and dry sauna. If you're in Minneapolis and need a staycation, you must come here. The restaurant food and drinks were also amazing!!

Maria A.

Yelp
The Four Seasons went above and beyond to make my fiancé and I's proposal such an amazing memory! The staff and hospitality were absolutely incredible from the valet parking to the rooftop service. Can't thank you enough for everything!

Yelp
Staycation at a Beautiful hotel, staff was very attentive upon arrival and we were giving champagne at check in. The elevator situation was confusing at times because one is for residents only? (So we were told) maybe some appropriate signage would be helpful, I also could've missed it if there were any. Our room was lovely with a great view. Room service was great and we really enjoyed our breakfast, I had bacon eggs and toast and let me tell you the bacon was bacon-ing! Thick cut perfectly cooked bacon - yum! I've been to several high end hotels and my only note was a small lack of service at the pool area , a lot of seats hadn't been turned over yet and took quite some time before things were cleaned up. In my previous stays else where there was service at the pool/spa area which would've elevated the spa experience that much more but we LOVED our sauna experience, such a relaxing and wonderful service. Another bonus was the village market, we were able to shop local and enjoy the beautiful November weather we've been having. I will also note we had to remove the drinks they supply in the fridge to refrigerate our own beverages that we brought, we didn't put them back but left them on the counter and we were charged for that which was odd. Some things were really great and some things didn't blow me away but overall we had a really good experience.

Yelp
The place looks very amazing! We went to the restaurant below it but the place looks amazing!! I took a lot of pictures and they turned out pretty nice There's also valet parking and the service was great!! An epic place frrr

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel... Best parts were the steam room.. sauna..hot tub and luxurious bed. Just ok parts..took 1.5 hours to be able to check into our room and didn't get the skyline view I booked. They bought us a couple of rounds of drinks but would have rather gotten the right room. Called for more Keurig cups..they never showed. Oh well. Felt good to be rich for a night. .

Yelp
2 night stay at Four Seasons Minneapolis to celebrate our anniversary. Executive corner suite so our dog has room to run. Ate at Nordic Village, see separate review. Super helpful staff in hotel and restaurants. Can't wait to go back!

Lilian P.

Yelp
I have, on multiple occasions, seen the linens exchange on the street with the cleaners. Entire bins of clean linens are fully exposed to the elements-- rain, snow, general grime from the streets. I would not sleep on those linens.

B G.

Yelp
Clean, modern hotel. Valet was easy and quick. Enjoyed the spa which was very clean and had nice amenities. I was the only one in the pool for awhile. Enjoyed lunch at Mara. Will definitely be back!

Coralee T.

Yelp
I went to the spa today for a massage and the service I received was good but certainly not exceptional. It was expensive but I expected that as it's The Four Seasons. What I wasn't expecting is paying $100 more than the massage price itself. They didn't tell me that they automatically add 20% and some additional nonsense fees. Then they still expected a gratuity. I said this is crazy and that's all you are getting. They should at least let you know that they do that in advance. I probably would have gone somewhere else. Not happy and will never go back. I probably would have tipped 20% anyway but because they did that and then had the audacity to say it didn't include a tip I wasn't about to add more.
