All the Best Places to Eat Haitian Food in Montreal | Bon Appétit

"A classic, banquet-capable Haitian restaurant in Ville Saint-Laurent with an extensive menu spanning salads, multiple cabrit preparations, and plentiful seafood, plus an all-you-can-eat buffet and an upscale, modern dining room. Highlights include fall-off-the-bone poulet créole, a comforting Saturday bouillon studded with plantains and yams, and a fiery-sweet legim (ratatouille) that the author singles out as especially good. Sundays are popular for family-style brunch buffets featuring griot, riz collé and other staples." - ByTerence Trouillot

Great service and delicious food! Cute Valentine's decore. It was a little pricey for the portion when you eat in the restaurant, but the take out portion was better. Authentic Haitian food. The legume is my favorite! Don't forget to ask for meat sauce and pikliz if you like a spicy kick.

I would definitely recommend this place. We were a large group of 16 people. We had fish, lambi, Tasso griot. They accommodated us quickly. Service was fast. Everyone was satisfied with their dishes.

The owner was rude and disrespectful to us. He directed us to an inside table by the bar. We wanted to sit by the window and ask him. However, he told us with an attitude that clients do not have any say in where they sit. Mind you, we were the first ones who arrived at his restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday. There was absolutely no one in his restaurant. They opened the door when they saw us. He needs to learn proper customer service etiquette. It is very sad that I have to write this because the food was super delicious, the waitresses were very affable and diligent, and the locale was quite nice. By the way, I live in the USA and was visiting relatives in Montréal.

My boyfriend and I went to that restaurant last weekend and we surely enjoyed the food. We couldn't even finished our plates. They give you a very fair portion for the price and the service was very fast. If you are looking for an Haitian/Creole restaurant, well that's the place to go! Great job to the team working at Fourchette Antillaise we will definitely be back.

After visiting a few Haitian restaurants in Montreal, We were not happy with their food and Services. We went back to Fourchette Antillaise, oh believe me, the food was EXCELLENT! as usually, even though we took it to go due to COVID- 19. The service is alway great! Loved it. My apologies, I forget to take pictures, next time for sure. If you're in Montreal you want to try Haitian cuisine, place to be, Fourchette Antillaises. Cheers 🥂

I took a plate for takeout and found weird skin in my sauce. Rice smelled really bad and chicken portion was cheap. Not recommending this place

Yelp

Yelp
Fourchette Antillaise is a hidden Haitian gem outside of Montreal proper. Whole the ambiance and service is great, the food was a bit too heavy and starchy for me. The chicken was fried to perfection and the sauces were delicious, but overall it was just okay.

Yelp
Fourchette Antillaise is my top level measuring stick for Haitian-Creole in Montreal. Most Haitian restaurants I've visited in and around Montreal are humble establishments. Some serve as grocery store with a restaurant counter. Some sell beauty products and have a kitchen to cook Creole food also. For the most part, they are simple restaurants with simple decor. This is not the case with Fourchette Antillaise. It's really nice inside. Nice and cosy, the kind of place you want to go back as it's comfortable. The decor is clean, upscale tropical is what I'd describe it as. The food here is also top notch. I've eaten here three times and gone with both the pork griot plate and the turkey plate on multiple visits. Both have been superb with lots of flavour and texture and presentation is appealing. Oh yes... they have this high level spicy pickliz (like a spicy vinaigrette coleslaw) that is awesome! Service has also been courteous and professional without being too intrusive on the visits I've been here. On the weekends they even have a buffet that would be a two belt notch unloosening event if I was to try it. I'm afraid the buffet would be too delicious I don't want to spoil my adventures here yet. If you like Hatian/Creole this is one of the top places to come sample it. It's terrific! Mmmmmm

Yelp
Where can i start, this is one of the best Haitian restaurant in montreal. Very clean, modern, good location there is a parking lot. The food is amazing, flavour good taste, good portion. I had as an appetizer accra and pate kodé, tassot kabrit with rice and beans, plantain and pik liz, and this special drink with rhum. The price is right. Don't forget on sundays they have buffet. Customer service is A+

Yelp
Wonderful experience. I love Creole food and I always make it a point to eat some once a month. My first experience here merits a solid 5 stars. I had some apprehension coming here. The area looks real ghetto but once I walked through the door I was surprised to see how nice this resto was! We were greeted warmly by the waitress and were seated promptly. The resto was modern and clean with it being half full of hungry patrons. I ordered their lunch special of Griot (pork), riz collé and plantain. We also ordered a pitcher of fruit Champagne to share. My meal with the drink came to a total of $11... which is very reasonable. Service was great. Very friendly and service was fast. Food was delicious. Awesome!

Yelp
OMG! This is the best place to get Caribbean/ Haitian food . There aren't words to express my satisfaction. The food is well cooked, seasoned, and generous. My friend and I stopped by 2:45 and left by 8pm. We had a great time. And even brought back two more friends the next day. The staff isn't too friendly except for Refa and Rosa. A special thanks to them. We exchanged a few words with the owner too. She needs to expand the business and open other restaurant so more people can benefit.

Yelp
I was so excited to come here, as a friend of mine told me this place was to-die-for. The decor was lovely and it smelled so good when I entered. I was salivating already. However, certain items on the menu were missing in the kitchen, perhaps because it was a weekday. And to my big dismay, their most popular dish, "griot", was non edible. The flavor was there, but the meat was definitely not fresh because it was clearly refried twice. It was impossible to chew it. I couldn't even squeeze it with my fingers it was so hard. I do want to give it a second try and come back on a Sunday when they offer a buffet.

Yelp
My husband and I came to visit all the way from Atlanta, GA USA. We have family in Montreal and when we mentioned we wanted to try Haitian food, this is where our cousin took us. Simply amazing!!! The food, the decor, the presentation, this is hands down the BEST Haitian restaurant we have ever been to and that is including inside the States and abroad!! Can't wait to come back and visit!!!

Yelp
My favourite restaurant for Haitian/creole food in the area!! I have family that live in Montreal and this is our go-to restaurant for special occasions! We love it! And the kids love it too! They relocated and their new restaurant is much bigger and more improved than the last. The food is always amazing! My family and I came for the lunch buffet on a weekend (we've never had their buffet before) and it was so worth it! They had a good variety of foods and still excellent quality! The restaurant was very clean and organized. One of my favourite dishes is their griot (fried pork) with rice and spicy pickly in the side....amazing! Our fave appetizer to get is the acras....it has a nice spicy kick, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! So good! Will always come to this restaurant for as long as they're around! And will continue to recommend it to others!

Yelp
Went into order for take out. I tried to order an item on their menu (Acras) which is clearly listed as 4/2,99$. When trying to place the order I was told that I couldn't order the food that way and it had to be with an entree. Wait staff was very rude when I then asked as to why I couldn't get the appetizer alone as it is written on their menu. Her response "Because you can't." With that attitude alone I chose not to order at all. Plenty more Haitian restaurants around.

Yelp
Are you hungry? Are you really hungry? Go there to eat until your heart content because it is really filling. I mostly order takeout and I am always stuffed. I beg my boyfriend not to bring me there too much because you can seriously gain weight, then again, it is really good for a decent price. They have a lunch special from 11 am to 4 pm, where you get a big plate filled with rice (or sticky rice), plantain with a choice of meat (chicken, turkey, gruau, vegetable, lamb) ranging from 7,99 to 15$. If you add a drink, it comes to about 10 to 15$ depending on the plate you choose. The customer service is pretty good. The person taking your order is always polite and smiling. The wait can be long because they take the time to cook it after I order, I think I wait about 10 minutes to 15 minutes for my food. A 20$ for one person can go a long way there. I defiinitely will come back to the restaurant.

Yelp
This is a popular place and I ve been many times mostly when it was on Gouin blvrd a few years back and the flavours were and still are excellent. I finally brought my wife and boy 16 for the Sunday buffet and I was disappointed with what seemed a reluctance to refill the buffet. I go for the fish and when fishing for the fish in the tray, there was no more fish and there wasn t enough to satisfy the first line of people that had formed at the opening and was never replaced afterwards. I normally would have complained but my family had eaten their fill so we left. Maybe the bigger place they moved to changed their perspective. I may go back. On a prior Friday supper visit the A la carte meal I had of deep fried Red Snapper was crispy and excellent and could have been shared by 2. Very clean, very busy. Great Haitian flavours.
