"My friend Kobi is what most people would call an all-rounder. She’s well-spoken, educated, and good at sport. She has a great job, she’s a total babe, and is also one of the few people I know who actually owns and drives a car in central London. She also once got so bladdered that she pulled a squaddie and woke up in Buckingham Palace barracks. So yes, she’s basically perfect. She also reminds us a little of Foxlow, an all-around British restaurant that does everything well. It’s from the same guys who opened the excellent Hawksmoor steakhouses, so you can bet that you’ll be able to get a very good steak here any night of the week (they use the same suppliers). The lunch and dinner menu’s packed with things you’d be very happy to eat like fried chicken, or a killer dish of slow-cooked short rib with kimchi. And at weekends, they do a good plate of chicken and waffles, as well as a proper Sunday roast with all the trimmings. The original restaurant in Farringdon is a little smarter for its central London crowd, but this Chiswick site has the comfiness factor of a neighbourhood spot while also still keeping the cool brasserie feel. Your parents won’t find the menu too challenging or the noise levels too loud, and your date will love all the vintage posters and fancy cocktails. Helpfully, you can book like a civilised human being, and the restaurant will also be able to swallow your mate’s screaming birthday party or office do with ease. None of the food will make you inclined to sit on the District Line for an hour, but if you’re in the neighbourhood, it should be one of your immediate go-tos. It’s a solid restaurant for anyone at any time, and unlike most half-arsed places purporting to do similar things, it actually delivers. If you count the bar, you might as well forget about your local pub altogether. Just be careful not to get so drunk that you wake up in some barracks yourself. You’re not exactly Kobi. Food Rundown Snowgroni The unholy devil spawn of a slush puppy and a negroni. These guys know how to make a good cocktail, and the snowgroni is our favourite, mostly because we secretly still love things like Saturday morning cartoons and those Monster energy drinks. Kale, Avocado And Fresh Herb Salad You’ll need this to cut through the meat and carbs that you’ll be ordering later. Salmon Crudo, Chilli And Ginger Thin slices of raw fish (that’s what crudo is, guys) with good olive oil, a little chilli for heat, and ginger for pep. If you like light and tasty starters, this is for you. Slow Cooked Tamworth Spare Ribs Order these because you love England, and because tender meat covered in sticky goo makes you happy. Spice-Roasted Cauliflower For a restaurant opened by a couple of guys known for steakhouses, Foxlow is surprisingly good for vegetarians. Even if you’re not a vegetarian, this is a great thing to put in the middle of the table. Beef Short Rib with Kimchi The beef’s slow-smoked until it’s fork-tender, and paired with some tasty, zingy kimchi. They only do this on Wednesdays, mind - but it’s worth rearranging your social calendar to eat this thing. Fried Chicken Sandwich As far as fried chicken sandwiches go (and we may have had a few during our time), this is a good one. The bird makes an appearance at brunch with waffles too, so keep a look out for it. Hanger Steak Nicely cooked and will satisfy your craving for red meat. At £12, it’s also a steal. Victoria Plum Crumble Their sticky toffee pudding and sundaes are pretty amazing, but this place does a great crumble - it would be rude not to." - David Paw

INCREDIBLE SERVICE/FOOD/COCKTAILS! We had the pleasure of dining here after our wedding at Chiswick townhall with our 50 guests. Each plate was impeccable and the staff did such a great job of ensuring everyone was comfortable and served swiftly. We loved every minute of it. And the Steak paired with their red wine selection - it's the greatest!! Can't say enough good about this place. The Sunday roast is also awesome. Go here. You won't regret it.

This is the second time I've been to the Foxlow for brunch and both times its been really worth it. Coffee is pleasant, if a little on the small side, but the chicken and waffles are to die for. Tried them elsewhere and was sorely disappointed because they didn't live up to the Foxlow's standard. Service is okay, maybe a little self involved in some instances but definitely not enough to detract from the experience. Nice brunch cocktails as well. I'll definitely return.

Lovely restaurant just off Chiswick High Street. Good atmosphere and a nice place to go with friends. We ordered a large steak off the specials board to share between 3 of us which was ordered medium rare. Unfortunately it was more rare than we wanted and was also quite chewy. I would visit Foxlow again as everything else was good but wouldn't order the steak.

I actually liked my food. It was fried chicken (4 pieces). The chicken was juicy and succulent. The Apple slaw was pretty sour and sprinkled at the very top were done very unpleasant crunchy bits. I couldn't fathom what they were. So salad was out. It also doesn't come with fries so you need to order them separately. Now onto the rest of the night. The waiter was new and I'm sure he had a horrendous night. When he took our order we asked about the rib eye on the blackboard menu. What are the sizes, what are the portions etc. He somehow managed to get the order wrong and told the kitchen to prepare sirloin. My hubby was celebrating his birthday, and once they confirmed it was sirloin that they brought over to our table and not rib eye as he had ordered, it got sent back. The next steak came within 5 minutes. How do you re heat steak in 5 minutes? Kitchen magic of course, and a generous of flame charring the outer layer. Yes we ended up with a blackened outer skin and a very rare inside. By this time everyone was apologetic and the situation had become embarrassing. This steak got sent back too. The next one took considerably longer to make... But the result was disappointing. We had an overcooked steak in the sense that it was medium well done rather than medium rare. My hubby gave up and asked for the bill. He was going home to make noodles... Other stuff happened too, like asking for condiments and not receiving them until the second request, some of our table ordered lamb and it was only ten minutes later that they were told this was out of stock. I actually really wanted to like this place. There's one near my work place. I think I will only go there for fried chicken, and not any sort of steak. Goodman hasn't failed steak yet.

Lovely Foxlow. As stylish as I don't know what. Outstanding service from universally lovely staff, I've taken a few people here on different occasions and it's always gone down super-well across the board. There are some strange negative reviews for it on here that don't make sense, I suspect competitors / or weird locals who used to like whatever was here before left them. ignore, make your own mind up, it's a grand place to eat with a varied menu and there's a lovely Malbec on the wine list. I'll be back. No I won't, it's closed down. Well done Chiswick.

These guys know what they are doing... Delicious steaks, seafood, and fantastic cocktails. The food is honest British fare, fresh produce make this restaurant sing out and be remembered. Make sure you order a Vesper martini (one, not two). Great service, particularly from the bar manager Alex - who knows what he is doing (and so do his team). I always look forward to dining here, and in the last year it has taken over from HRB as my favourite Chiswick eatery.
