"South Carolina’s first fully outdoor restaurant, this bar-restaurant-music venue is a whole lotta fun. There are yard games and firepits and projected sports and movie nights. Don’t discount a menu filled with housemade brats, yard dogs, skewered meats, and Angus smash burgers. Drinks include canned craft beer and kegged cocktails. Kenneth Cribb, co-owner of Willy Taco, books a host of bands for the stage. Fr8Yard goes all out for holidays and keeps an updated events calendar online." - Stephanie Burnette

Google
Very cool outside bar/restaurant with a ball game concession feel. Staff super friendly everything clean and well kept. The food is the same that you would find at a sports venue. Hotdogs, hamburgers, pretzels, etc.. parking was easy and they even have putt-putt golf in the back of the establishment. Patrons ages ranged from toddlers to older adult adults. Definitely family, friendly and a great place to go watch the game.

Google
Very cool space. I liked the food and the vibe. Open air. Very casual. Band stage, jumbo TV for sports, picnic tables all in an open setting. Lots of good beer too. Fr8yard is on my shirt list of favorite places.

Google
Went there to catch The Kyle Lacy Band out of New York. The staff was great and very helpful. The food was good, had the double burger and an order of corn pups. They also had a nice option for non-alcoholic beer (Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Golden).

Frank B

Google
What a great find. The food was delicious, the music was terrific, and the vibe was great! Overall, a truly enjoyable evening with family!

Josh Snipes

Google
An amazing family friendly place that is great for kids of all ages as well as adults, with limited but quality food selections and a great and varied bar menu!

Emily Oneal

Google
Great food and drink choices and it’s always a fun place to hang out but I do wish they would turn down the speakers on the bands. It can be hard to enjoy because of the noise and therefore difficult to have a conversation. We love the service, food, drinks, but the music needs to be toned down a bit. 😊

Andi Lee

Google
This place is hands down the best place (outside of Death Valley) to catch a Clemson game!!! The staff is awesome, the atmosphere is high energy, and the food is absolutely amazing!!! There's not a bad choice on the menu!!! Spartanburg is very blessed to have the Fr8yard!!!!

Zach Chappell

Google
First off the service was absolutely terrible, for two people for a couple of burgers and fries and a drink it was 50 dollars, fries and drink were separate, the burgers you can make at home and them be better. We waited 30 min for food to come out, the fries were cold, we sent them back and the second set of fries were cooked to death and tasted like burnt oil. Waiter was rude about it. Food is over priced, service was terrible, place is a nasty trash pit hole in the ground. If you’re going there for live music alcohol and sports on TV you might be okay. Don’t recommend for a date night or an affordable enjoyable time with a loved one or spouse. Don’t waste your time or money.

Yelp
Met a friend here midday Sunday. Street parking was easy out front. Walk up ordering was easy, although food was a bit of a wait when not very busy. That was fine for us while we had our beer. I'd imagine waiting a while when there's a crowd. The Mocha Blonde Stout on tap was excellent. We loved the corn pups, pretzel (huge!), and tots. They have a huge projector screen with nice sound for sports games. Would go again!

J S.

Yelp
This is fantastic place for food and fun. It's dog friendly and my dog met a new pal. I had a delicious pumpkin cider. Three of us split 4 items. Chicken skewers with large grilled chicken chunks and buffalo sauce, jalapeño flavored sauce and a bourbon maple sauce, all great. We then shared an order of corndog bites on a stick and the batter was something special maybe had some maple in there and some really good mustard to dip in. And then we got a huge pretzel with two sauces. And we tried some of the hummus, which was very good . wonderful staff multi use space and their prices are very reasonable.

Will T.

Yelp
Came in from out town to visit family and friends. It did not disappoint, great selection of drinks and food. Fantastic service and the environment was awesome for watching sports.

Emily P.

Yelp
FR8yard is such a fun place! My husband and I spent almost 3 hours here for their Memorial Day party. They had Southside Smokehouse as a pop-up restaurant, and it was very yummy! The three sauces were flavorful - I especially liked the mustard sauce. My husband got a draft beer, and I got the Watermelon Man cocktail. I wish I could make this cocktail at home. It was SO good! Refreshing and light! It's always nice when you can't taste the alcohol too lol. The performing artist was also great - Clay Johnson! I loved all of his covers - very country folk. It was the best vibe! The service was quick, kind, and reliable too!

John C.

Yelp
What a cool place! After a concert at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium, our group came here for drinks and a bite to eat. The shipping containers make up a bulk of the 'buildings" surround the pit area. There's a stage and there was a trio playing music. There's a large screen that was showing a hockey game. All interests were covered. It didn't hurt that it was a beautiful evening. I had a cocktail and my friends had beers. Prices were reasonable for the drinks and they had a big selection of beers and cocktails. They also had good food options. One friend got tater tots and their street meat (chicken on a stick) with BBQ sauce. Both of those looked good especially the chicken. I got a hot dog and it was really tasty too. Mine was the Hasselhoff but with a hot dog instead of the brat. It was delicious - kraut, spicy mustard, and beer cheese. YUM! My friend got their Reuben dawg and said it was good too. I'd definitely come back here for a beer and a bite!

Noah L.

Yelp
Best burger in town. Cant wait to enjoy the space more in the fall for football games in cooler weather.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Awesome Smash burgers and tots ! Great vibes and live music. Huge beer list to choose from.

Carla S.

Yelp
Great place if the weather is nice to hang out, drink a beer, catch a game or two and still remain outdoors. Fr8 is a Casual atmosphere with bench seating, outdoor dining only. Dog friendly (and there were lots of dogs there) and family friendly. This sit where you can and want, is a great place to let your children play or enjoy a friendly competition with your crew. There was corn hole, board games and other outdoor games to play to keep anyone not interested in the games busy. They do have outdoor heaters for the cold weather and fans for the heat. A good selection of beer and a standard selection of brat entrees. Everything is sold separately, but reasonably priced. The Carolina dog was a take on the Carolina classic dog except the chili is made with brisket and the dog is a beef sausage. If you mind a sausage instead of a regular beef hot dog, this is a winner.

Donald B.

Yelp
Great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some beverages and food in the outdoors. The FR8yard always have great beer selections. The food isn't fancy but everything tastes amazing. Try the Smash burgers or the Hot Dogs with everything on it. There's big screen TVs to watch big time sporting events and some nights there is live music to enjoy. You gotta check it out for yourself!

Kelly T.

Yelp
Nice outdoor venue in downtown Spartanburg. Very casual. Picnic tables, gravel, and bring your dog casual. Open to the sun so it can get warm, but there are some umbrellas for shade. There's a stage for a band and a huge screen to watch the big game. Lines are long at peak times, and for us it took 50 mins to get a burger and sausage dog, but both were delish once they arrived. Great selection of beer, wine and liquor drinks. Friendly staff. Go and have some fun!

Madai G.

Yelp
We stopped by on Sunday and the music was great!!! The guys on stage really sounded like a full band, every song they did was better then the last. We did not eat but they do have Hot dogs kabobs burgers and beer. Really nice area to just sit and hear some good music and have a drink or

Steven B.

Yelp
I got food poisoning, which is too bad because it tasted good. Carolina Classic Dog was good.

Kong L.

Yelp
Wow! What a cool space to hang out! The bride and groom rented the top space to hang out after the wedding. It was a nice little and private space that accommodates a good amount of people. I loved the chill vibe and the huge projector screen. What an awesome place to grab drinks and catch a game! I can see myself hanging out here more often.

Sera G.

Yelp
I have always loved it here. Such great outdoor vibes and good music. But, on this most recent trip, I saw sexism like I have never observed before. The line was absurdly long, and I waited in it with some friends but did not want to cut off others and, when my friend asked for a drink, I obliged. I would just get two of what I wanted. But no, "We cannot do that" was the response when I asked for two. That's policy! I understand. I have worked food & bev, and I am not Karen. I walked away, following their rules. Only to watch several of my male friends walk away from the bar with numerous drinks in tow. The staff would not allow me to obtain more beverages for myself and my friend, both of us being 22. The problem is that these men walked up with only 1 ID, theirs. I watched several women all realize this reality at the same time. I am very disappointed in this fact and frustrated that this is what one of my favorite local spots participated in. Systemic patriarchy exhibitions like this one are what is wrong with our country today. Fade FR8.

Scott T.

Yelp
Update your hours, not open until March. Drove here from Greenville. Not sure why yelp or their website couldn't have updated hours when they are closed for the season.

Taifha B.

Yelp
Hot DOG! I ordered the smoked beef fr8nk carolina-style, which came with sauteed onions, coleslaw, mustard, and chili. I went without the slaw. I also ordered loaded fries. The hot dog itself would have been STELLAR on its own - the chili was just alright and the onions were ok. Similarly, the fries could stand on its own, the addition of the blah chili took away from the experience in my opinion - which is why I rated this dining experience as a four, also it was a bit expensive, my order came up to about $18. However, it was quite filling. The ambience is pretty cool and something Spartanburg's been missing. The neon signs, HUGE big screen tvs, firepits and stage lend itself to a cool, hip vibe.

Mary S.

Yelp
FR8 Yard hosted my 50th birthday party last summer. It rained, of course! Ha! But, everything was great. I would definitely recommend having your event there!

Brenda T.

Yelp
Outdoor patio area with a nice stage for live entertainment. Dog friendly. The food was good but.certainly nothing more than 3 stars. Good selection of beers. Service a little slow for my liking but I was hungry, so it felt like forever.

Shawn R.

Yelp
FR8yard gets pretty busy, and things get missed. It happens. How it's taken care of separates the good from the not. The manager Ryan went way above and beyond to make sure a customer was happy. He is an absolute gem in todays service industry. The atmosphere is why we go, great service is why we come back!

Max T.

Yelp
BEWARE! Awesome place great drinks and music. But please beware of the top area being reserved for birthday. The bar tender and another lady are both in on this. They have a lot of open tables when fr8yard is full. And they say you can stay up there if you buy a the birthday girl a shot. "No problem" ya right they charge your card for 5-8 shots for all there friends. Dispute the charge if this happen to you. The management should not allow that. But the bar tender was definitely part of it because when she got my card she was laughing cuz she knew she was going to charge the card for all the friends drink. What a scam! Shame on you fr8yard!

Kevin O.

Yelp
Excellent place for live music, drinks and a bite. Open seating with picnic tables and plenty of room for standing. Large tap list of craft beers, some wine and seltzer offerings. Street meat (chicken on a stick) was delicious.

Nate H.

Yelp
FR8yard is one of the coolest spots that I've ever been. It is an outdoor beer garden that is the absolute perfect place to watch a game. The reason that it has taken me so long to write this review is because I associate UNC losing in the NCAA tournament in 2018 with this place. I happened to be here when I watched the game. That may be what took it from 5 to 4 stars for me. In all seriousness though, FR8yard is a really unique and fun place. It is a great place to grab a few beers with friends after work, come for a casual dinner, or come watch a sporting event. It is even kid friendly, and they have a small putt putt course to keep the kids entertained. They have a big projector screen and great sound to go along with it. There is seating above on a little balcony setup. Most of the seating is long picnic tables set up in front of the projector screen. The food here is very good as well. I ordered a Chicago style brat and fries. All of the food was exactly what you would want and expect from a place like this. They also have a good beer selection, with a number of craft beers on tap. The only problem with this place lies with the service. Maybe they have worked out some of the kinks since I was there, but the bartenders and employees are just extremely disorganized and unapologetic about it. If I was coming through Spartanburg again, I would absolutely stop in to FR8yard with hopes that the service had improved. The cool atmosphere is worth putting up with the lack of service though.

Carly J.

Yelp
A great addition to downtown Spartanburg. The thing I love most about FR8yard is the casual, quirky outdoor atmosphere defined by the venue's bar made of shipping containers, live music almost daily and wide selection of craft beers. The food options are limited but what they do have is quite good! My favorites are the GR8 Grilled Cheese with Tomato & Bacon and the Chili Cheese Fries. Busy on weekends but all the best places are! The staff has done a great job adjusting to the crowds by improving the ordering process and adding pagers for food orders.

Heather H.

Yelp
One of my most most favorite places in downtown Spartanburg. I love the atmosphere. There needs to be more outdoor venues like this. It has live music, games, good, and drinks. It's also dog and child friendly. This place is a great place for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nights.

Scott H.

Yelp
I enjoyed my brat, beers, and fries, but I don't like sausages enough to want to come back here much. If I was 22 again and wanted to pound beers outside with my friends I guess I would come. Being outside is the best part of this place. BUT, I will say the sauerkraut and beer cheese brat I had was pretty good. I would probably go back and get the burger next time.

Debi R.

Yelp
Fun! Fun! Fun! All outdoors- downtown- live bands most nights and during day on Weekends. Have a group that needs a place to celebrate & party with good beer- hooch punch - brats- bbq- giant screen TV- ping pong- corn hole - jinga- Without having to rent a space?! This is the place. All ages are free to enter. There is an upstairs area for additional space. Overlooks Main St and has Spartanburg's free putt putt in their back yard. All ages having a fun time. Perfect for After work- nice summer evening - Saturday/Sunday ballgames. Spartanburg has the best and most innovative "fr8t yard " in the country. Good "backyard" food- reasonable Priced beer- and a lot of fun people. Highly recommend you come hang out.

Alex R.

Yelp
Great outdoor area for food and drinks any time of the day! They always have bands and entertainment of some sort for a friends night out.

Robin W.

Yelp
Today is my first time to Spartanburg's Main Street outdoor beer garden. FR8yard are doing a lot of things right! They have a huge big screen TV and also a couple more not quite as big, great set up for watching the games. Also, they have plenty of gas heaters and wood burning kettles for those chilly days and nights. They are child and pet friendly - with water bowls for the fur babies, and ping pong and corn hole for the kids. There is also a miniature golf course right beside if the kids wanted to play, you could keep your eye on them - no problem. They offer a simple limited food menu - I tried their brat and it was delicious (the fresh air and the smell of wood burning made me think of food!). They have a stage for entertainment as well. They have an open upper deck that can be rented for birthday parties or whatever. This is a great idea and a great spot for hanging out with friends, watching the games, supporting local music, or just enjoying downtown and people watching.

Mitch S.

Yelp
Outdoor vibe is unique. Beer selection is top notch. Live music if you're into that. 2 levels as well, with nice lighting.

Scott G.

Yelp
Outdoor beer garden with some covered seating. They have propane heaters strategically placed through out for those chilly nights. Wonderful food if your looking for hotdogs and chicken on a stick in all the flavors of the rainbow. (Try the maple bacon jalapeno for sure!) Brisket chilli is really good and no beans for the picky eaters out there. Ice cold beer and a great selection draft and cans. Large tv for game watching and a stage for live music (none when I went ).

Molly H.

Yelp
This is such a great hangout spot. They have heaters for when it's cold and giant fans for when it's too hot, so as long as it's not raining, this is a great spot to get outside. They are dog and kid friendly and have live music most nights. They play games on the large screen, so sports fans love to come- especially in Sundays! The small food menu is good and always rotating with specialty yarddogs. They also have a great rotating tap beer and cider selection. This is a great place for groups and parties (you can rent/reserve the upstairs portion!)!

Ed K.

Yelp
You cannot match the Korean hot dog at the Yard. I've been making and serving kimchi hot dogs for years and they have me beat. A great venue. Cool evening breeze, great screens and fine music.

Lee H.

Yelp
I am in Spartanburg for a sporting event. I can't say enough good things about how much work the city is putting into the downtown area. It looks great. After the game I was looking for a place to watch the NCAA basketball tourney and drink a few beers. The beers were good. Atmosphere was fun. Wings were the worst I have ever eaten in my entire 48 years in this earth. They were hard, over cooked and feathery. I will go back to FR8yard but not to eat. Kudos to Spartanburg for the investment in their city.

Jubal L.

Yelp
I'm not the type of customer they want. It's expensive for what you get. Yes, the place has an ambience that's somewhere between pretty cool and hipster doofus, and that's where the problem is. Prices push it into the hipster doofus range. Food is fine, but honestly there's better nearby. Probably a pretty good place to have a frat boy gathering. Definitely give them credit for trying, though. Well worth trying, just not my cup of tea these days with lots of mouths to feed.

Red M.

Yelp
The FR8yard is my one of my favorite place to hear live music in Upstate South Carolina. It's outside and the acoustics are excellent. The staff is friendly, there's a variety of craft beers, and the bands can play. Usually two acts per night: a 6pm show and an 8pm. Yes, there are big TVs, but I go for the music.

Jon G.

Yelp
This is a great place to meet or hang out. They've brought a cool, fun vibe that's been missing in Spartanburg. It's also really kid friendly without feeling like a circus. The food options are limited, but what they offer is really good. Minus one star because the beer is really, very, quite overpriced. Talkin' $9 per beer, baby! This isn't Charleston.

Rich M.

Yelp
I'd give this zero stars if I could. It's St. Patrick's Day, and it's a Saturday, and it's oak evening. I am keeping this in mind, despite the rating. The place is packed, as one would expect. But, the ordering process, is inefficient. Two places to order food, with a large crowd. That's not going to work. I had to wait in line 15 minutes to place an order. That's never acceptable, you need to be able to accommodate a capacity crowd, and they clearly cannot. When I get up to the front, the person taking my order has to wait a minute for the computer to be ready. Not good. At the end of this process of placing an order, another person comes up to cash out. He looks for her card before trying to process mine. Why? He finds it, puts it down and then tries to process my payment, and his iPad, not powered, runs out of juice. He switches them out. He tries to log in, can't, says he'll be right back. More than five minutes later, a woman comes and try to put the other woman's card and my card away. I stop her, and explain. I tell her to cash out the woman behind me, went should both of us wait? She does. Then she tries to process my payment, and about five minutes later, succeeds. Yes, she apologized, profusely, and I appreciate that. But I didn't here a discount, a concession, anything. When I finally got my food, it was okay, maybe three plus stars. The brat was good, good size, cooked well, seasoned well, my choice of how to top it, which I appreciate. The pretzel bites were very good, with a cheese sauce. The naked street meat is chicken on a stick, and is tender. The loaded fries were so salty, it was not enjoyable. But, by the point the food came, my mind was made. I'll try again on a day it's not so crowded, and maybe things will go better. This was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had, and that's the most important thing to me.

Tracy B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, a little pricey but fun outdoor venue to hang out at when the weathers nice!

Dasia S.

Yelp
Always love coming to the FR8yard. This particular time I can during the St. Patrick weekend ! They had a live band and my favorite GUINNESS. I would rate this place a 5 anytime.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Love the outdoor relaxed environment. Great brats, pretzels and something the call street meat(try it!)! I'd give them a five but I'm a cheapskate and I want more happy hour specials or at least cheeper beer This is a review from a local who's been here a few times now.

Andrea H.

Yelp
This awesome space is just what Spartanburg needed! FR8yard is a biergarten with a stage for live music, a big screen TV and some smaller TVs for sports, a great beer selection, and good food. This place is dog friendly, and kid friendly, so it was packed with an awesome mix of people, and the atmosphere was really incredible. There's tons of tables and seating as this place has 2 different levels. It's still a bit chilly out so there were also heaters and some fire pits. Our table had a bratwurst that was awesome, the pretzel nugz that come with a cheese sauce, and the loaded fries. The brat was fantastic and there were plenty of different options for what you could put on it. The pretzels were also really, really good. The fries were the only thing I wasn't super impressed with, but they weren't bad. As for entertainment, they have cornhole, and table tennis. Plus, there was a live band performing the night I went, and March Madness on the TVs. I live a bit far away, but this is definitely on my list of places to hangout on the weekends!

Grace W.

Yelp
If you want somewhere to hang out on a nice night out, definitely go here. They have fantastic food and drinks and such a cool atmosphere. Their house band the "Yard Dogs" are awesome and they play every Thursday night. They also play Tuesday nights at Yard Jams and if you can play or sing you can join! New favorite place!

Nikki L.

Yelp
Most chilled outside bar in Spartanburg lol. The only outside bar in Spartanburg actually, for now. Live music in the evening, good food to snack on, but limited on the drinks. Wish they had mixed drinks, this place is good for beer drinkers.

Dwayne H.

Yelp
Cool place. Interesting food and a huge bar menu. Live music is decent. There are a lot of local reggae, jam bands and jam/cover bands who need to find their way to the fr8yard. Recommended.

David K.

Yelp
Great hot dogs, cool vibe and some great craft beers on tap! Giant BIG screen TV outside, love this place! Now I only wish I could eat one more hot dog!

Aidan D.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere and great vibe. Food is simple and delicious focusing on street style food. The street meat was amazing. The order system is confusing with someone yelling your number over the crowd and music. No way of seeing your number up so if you aren't near the pick up window you are out of luck. Love the fire pits and community style seating. Great place to chill as long as it isn't raining. The no smoking makes this much cooler for bringing kids.

Farrah S.

Yelp
Great chili cheese fries, and really good and different kinds of grill cheese sandwiches. Fun spot!!!

Mike L.

Yelp
It is such a great place and I would give it 5 stars, but a little pricey and makes me go elsewhere. This is one of those places you'll bring your friends who are not from the area, but won't go on a consistent basis. If they are fine being a "special occasion" type of place, they are doing a good job with their business model.

Bri B.

Yelp
Great casual outdoor spot to hang out in downtown Spartanburg. They offer a good selection of beers and food items. They often have live music. Super dog friendly so bring your pup!
