"Maybe you know a lot about wine and want to show off your knowledge - or maybe this person knows more than you do, and you want to impress them by choosing a place with a great selection. Either way, check out Franks Wine Bar in Carroll Gardens. The 400-bottle wine list here is organized with helpful descriptions, and the small plates - like the octopus terrine, and pretty much anything doused in the phenomenal olive oil - are great to share. Also, you can order from the whole Frankies 457 menu (it’s right next door), and that housemade cavatelli with hot sausage will impress anyone." - bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Frank Wine Bar opened in 2013 and has cemented itself as something of a foundational establishment in the South Waterfront. Even on sleepier nights, Frank has the warmth and organic energy of a long-time neighborhood gathering place. Enjoy complimentary popcorn and creative tasting flights while waiting for a table — the exceptionally curated glass pour list is worth the wait. The food menu refreshes seasonally, with a tasty range of salads, soups, and sandwiches. Or skip dining in and grab a bottle from the bottle shop — Oregon wines are supplemented by a thoughtful selection of smaller European labels, including wine from exciting regions in Croatia and Hungary." - Rebecca Roland

"Oui Wine Bar, the restaurant within the winery incubator Southeast Wine Collective, will go on indefinite hiatus Sept. 12. The restaurant reopened to onsite diners in June, but with wine production beginning in the winery space and the winter months around the corner, co-owner Thomas Monroe says it’s 'not only irresponsible, but impossible' to continue operations with solely indoor dining. The team will run private tastings in the wine bar space, and the restaurant’s celebrated chef, Althea Grey Potter, will focus on a salad dressing company, Dress Up Salads. 'Plans for restaurant service beyond the harvest period are undetermined at this time and will greatly be influenced by the state of the COVID-19 pandemic,' a press release reads." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Longtime neighborhood restaurateurs Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli opened a wine bar in Carroll Gardens offering hundreds of classic and natural wines paired with small plates inspired by European cuisines." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"A newly reopened wine bar with new ownership and plenty of local pinot, opened on June 26." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
