1st time at Frankies, had been looking forward to it for quite some time. She ordered the Stuffed Maine Lobster special, and I ordered the 16oz Ribeye. To start, we ordered a bottle of Caymus Cabernet, it appeared to be a surprisingly good deal at $40, I'd found it around this same price in the past at Total Wine. Unfortunately, this was not by the bottle, although it was not listed in the "By the Glass" section, implying it was a "By the Bottle" price. Definitely some unfortunate sticker shock when the bill arrived, the Caymus Cab is a nice wine but not a $175/bottle nice (which I suppose was a discount, had it been made clear $40 on the menu was per glass). The lobster was extremely tough and arrived without the sherry cream sauce, or any sauce. We ate very little but took the remaining home to chop up and maybe make some lobster mac-n-cheese or lobster pizza. For the steak, it came out looking beautiful and was cooked perfectly to a cool rare. It was poorly trimmed and lost probably 20% of the16 ounces to grizzle, but once past the outer grizzle, the steak was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of grill crust and smokiness. We had the veal meatball appetizer, they were rich, tender and altogether outstanding. Service staff were all outstanding. The atmosphere was great, the main dining room was appropriately dimly lighted but, for those of us that need just a little extra light to read the menu, there were small lamps on the tables that provided the right amount of light without taking away from the atmosphere. There were some hits and some misses and the misses on the lobster special, poorly trimmed ribeye, and per-bottle/per-glass wine pricing menu discrepancy will likely be too much for us to return.
