Frank's Pizza & Italian Restaurant

A friend of ours wanted to bless our family to meet her at one of her favorite spots since high school in 1978. We entered in, and you see workers working and two persons in front of us ordering. We found out one of the cashiers was FRANK, the founder and owner. Our friend was such a regular that they all, including Frank and his wife, greeted her with smile, laughter, and embraces. Such a family atmosphere. I was encouraged to try the Philly steak, and I did. It was an amazing flavor, hot and fresh. The bread complimented the taste.. lightly crusted and soft on the inside. My husband ordered cheese pizza. The taste assured us that we were in Italian Heaven. It was a great delight. The sauce and cheese blend, and that amazing crust spoke volumes. Our daughter had chicken fingers and fries. Homemade juicy and fries cut to perfection. Since we ate in, everything was brought to our table. The team of servers was very observant. They all checked on everyone needs. As we sat, ate, and fellowship, the line grew quickly. Amazingly, it didn't take long for orders to be filled. Some were picking up called in orders, while others were placing orders to go or dine in. Though a crowd, the workers kept things clean and flowing. The prices were good for the quality. No slices after a certain time, must purchase whole pizzas then. We went on a Friday after 6 pm. We already know we will return, and we've already told others about this gem. Our hope is to try the lasagna and a few other items. Thank you so much, Frank and staff.

Tried Franks and loved the down home feel. We’re from Jersey and I feel like I’m back where we have these pizza places around every corner. Nothing better than a family feel for a quick bite with the family.

Frank’s is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get NY Style staple in the community. The staff is friendly and helpful, and their menu is extensive. If Capital Creations (now closed) was your old go-to, give Frank’s a try! 🍕

This was the best pizza I've ever had. It was really delicious. Not to saucy, not dry it was just right! It was not greasy at all. And the ingredients felt so fresh! I highly recommend! Once you come here, trust me you're gonna wanna come back! The service and environment was also really good.

Great old school pizza and pasta restaurant where the owners are actively involved and so welcoming. It was our first time there. We had pizza, salad, garlic bread, and ziti with meat sauce. It reminded me of restaurants when I was growing up in Chicago. Don’t let the strip mall location fool you. Really good food at very fair prices. But the staff make it even better.

My grandson and I try to check out restaurants that we've never been to before when we travel to Raleigh for appointments. We were on New Bern Ave, so my grandson googled the area for restaurants and he asked me if I wanted authentic Italian pizza. we found a nice quiet place called Frank's Pizza and Italian Restaurant inside of a small shopping center. The pizza we ordered was the best pizza I have eaten in quite some time. The service was exceptional and the whole atmosphere of the place made us so comfortable. We will definitely be going to Frank's Pizza again to sample the Stromboli.

This is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t know why I haven’t tried this place before but I plan on making up for lost time.😂 if you want pizza, and I mean real NY style pizza, Franks is your go to!

I have been eating here since 1994 when I moved to Raleigh metro. It is still my most favorite place. They still maintain the quality of food and the choices. Despite the heavy inflation in the country, when compared to other restaurants in the area, the price rice had been minimal. Still top of my favorites are the parmigiana sandwiches and of course the lasagna. This is the only place which serves the juicy lasagna...which is the guaranty for freshness!

This is a local pizzeria/Italian restaurant. You order at the cash register, seat yourself, and they will serve you your meal. This is not a fancy restaurant. Your silverware comes in a little paper bag, which you slide out when you're ready-to-eat. Pacing is not something here. Your food comes out as it is ready. Our pizza came out 10 minutes before my entree. The price to value is very good at this restaurant as the portion sizes are fairly large and your meal comes in a tin foil pie plate so you simply get a lid and you have it take out package to bring home. At 6:00 p.m. the line to order was fairly long, so I suggest arriving earlier if waiting in line is not your thing.

Beautiful waitstaff. Fantastic food. Quick, easy ordering. Delicious food. Had spaghetti with meat sauce. Vegetable soup. Calzone with sausage. And pepperoni pizza. And ordered a cannelloni, and they made one fresh for me. Please visit. You will not be disappointed.

Like I always say no body no body can make a NYC pizza like FRANK's Pizza it's the best pizza in this area hands down I been in this area since 1989 have tried just about every pizza restaurant in this area none can beat Frank's & the customer service is amazing as well everyone is treated like family I love this place

Overall, we liked Frank's. We tried a cheese pizza, Italian sub (toasted), and wings. The sub was our favorite! The pizza was good but could be cooked slightly more. The wings were good but could have been crispier. The staff were nice & accommodating. I would definitely go back for an Italian sub & try the cheesesteak because they recommended it.

Ordered via phone for takeout. The person who answered was friendly and was very patient when I was figuring out which wings to order. Ordered 2 large cheese pizza, 1 pepperoni, 16 pieces of wings for a small birthday party. Everything was good and everyone enjoyed the pizza. Thin crust, seasoned well. The cheese and grease was on point. I'm from NY and good good pizza is hard to find in NC. Everyone present was from NY and loved Franks pizza and has added it to their pizza place list. Frank's has the best pizza. This Jersey girl loves the crust. Sauce is good and good range of toppings. Only disappointment is mushrooms are canned, though still pretty good on pizza. Tiramisu is our favorite dessert. Antipast salad is nice too.

Really good pizza and wings, should have more deals, service was fast and friendly, finally I found a good place for my hubby wings!

We went to Franks the other week and the food was good and the portions were generous. We dined inside and the staff was very nice. This place seemed to do a killer take out business. I would definitely get food from here again. What I will say is if you are dining in it leaves a lot to be desired. The chairs and tables are old, the walls and interior feel left from going out with my Grandparents between the late 70s and early 80s. The food is served in takeout containers. I mention this so understand the vibe if you are thinking of eating in before taking someone here.

Pizza was good, but not great. We love a crispy pizza and requested it that way. It came out kind of soggy. The flavors were good though. We ordered an antipasto salad as well and that was tasty. You order at the front when you walk in and seat yourself. Not much on ambiance. Since this restaurant is a bit of a drive for us, we might return if we are in the area, but otherwise we plan to look for other options.

Nothing pretentious about this place. Just good, Italian food. Pizza is great. Calzones are awesome. I hear Franks.

The staff are amazing, Marie, and Brittany are the best waitress's. They have great personalities. The owner is always on the premises working hard to make sure every order is correct and complete. This place is hit or miss. Coming from NJ, yes sorry I'm a transplant and no I'm not looking to change NC to become NJ however, sometimes it's good and sometimes not. The pasta dishes are sometimes soggy and the pizza depends on the day. If you are into gambling, give it a go, if not there are other places I'd try first.

Food is really good and has a nice atmosphere too it, service is great .. I highly recommend it.

Always delicious. My favorite is stuff shells with cheese. The garlic knots. Always polite when we go to pick up our orders. Lived in Minnesota couldn't wait to get back to Franks!!

Extremely rude owner yelled at me from across the room from behind the counter. This is not acceptable behavior and very rude. I will not be returning.

Chicken wings are fire!!! Can't go wrong with a hoagie! Stromboli's are delicious, they are also HUGE!! Nice for a gathering or if you want leftovers the next day

If you are looking for authentic Italian food, you need to come to Franks! The menu has so much to choose from, the ingredients are fresh / high quality, and they even offer daily specials. NOTE: They are CLOSED on Sunday and Monday, but definitely worth the trip any other day of the week. The pizza is delicious, and can be bought by the slice before 5pm. Frank's is one of our new favorites!!

Freaking awesome. Medium pizza was huge, and salad was wonderful. Just have to get used to the ordering process.

Clearly some of the best authentic pizza in the area! This family owned establishment has been around for many years. I believe its been serving the area since nearly 1976! I'm a huge fan of the cheese and spinach pizza. The crust is always baked to perfection and the toppings and ingredients are always fresh. The location is not the best when it comes to trying to find them from the highway as it sits in the side of a cluster of businesses. My wife and I stopped by this weekend to grab a pizza and wow... it took quite a while to come out. I'd say we waiting about 15 minutes for the pizza, which is no complaint. When the pizza came out, we immediately sat down to eat it. It was 9:30pm and the joint was closing at 10pm. I took one bit into my pizza and all of a sudden a lady comes over telling us the dinning room was closed and that we needed to take to go. I looked at her, then I looked around for a sign that had this warning on it, then I looked at the door and saw the 10pm closing sign... with that being said, i just bit my tongue, packed up my pizza and we left. Normally I have a decent experience with the staff... not sure what happened with this one lady. Hey, the pizza was still slamming!

Awesome food. We has the large steak Stromboli and it was amazing. The staff was great. The short older gent running the counter was so pleasant. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

This is some of the best pizza I've had in NC!!! I absolutely loved this place!!! My boyfriend and his coworkers frequent Frank's for lunch and he suggested it for our Saturday "date night" dinner. I am so happy he did!! The decor reminds me of a pizzeria I used to dine at in my youth; it had the dark brown paneling, retro lighting, older tables, super friendly waitstaff. Total old school Italian. Perfection!! We ordered waters and a delicious, IPA they had on draft. Our waitress asked us if we wanted to order an appetizer and we ordered the meatballs. They were light, cooked perfectly, seasoned very well, and the sauce was savory deliciousness. Then we ordered a medium pie with pepperoni and mushrooms. Our pizza didn't take that long to cook. I liked that the owner, Frank, was behind the counter, cooking the pizzas along with his staff. The pizza....my mouth is watering right now as I'm typing this....the pizza is so freaking good!!! The crust is crispy in all the right places and thin and floppy like a New York style pie. The flavor of the crust has a slight butter taste. The sauce is not super sweet, and has just the right amount of garlic and spices. The mozzarella tasted fresh, and the pepperoni and mushrooms were very tasty. I can't wait to eat here again! I am looking forward to trying the Italian pasta dinners.

We came to celebrate our granddaughters 4th birthday as it's not too far from Marbles children's museum. The server wasn't real enthusiastic but she did her job. The wait for the food was a bit longer than most pizza places I've been to, but the pizza was good. I also tried the calzone and it was pretty good too. Others with us had the wings and chicken parm sandwich and enjoyed it. The place got real busy so apparently a locals favorite. We don't live real close but would come back when in the downtown area.

Best pizza in Raleigh, NC hands down! Franks been part of my families eating experience for over a decade ! There consistent and pizzas always hot and fresh ! The steak and cheese is also good with a side of honey mustard! Also I feel like this is my third review I'm leaving for them but everytime I come back home and grab a pie I'm never let down !!

FRANK'S PIZZA is the number one in this area and for us who know good 'za, it is really our only choice. We live in Raleigh when we aren't in Southern ITALY and Frank's even rivals many pizzarias there. My husband is a pizza maker who has worked in all of Raleigh's BEST ristorantes and he trained under some great chef's. He is master of languages and this gave him a great opportunity to learn from people who come from all over the world and speak the language of fresh, great food. FRANK'S sandwiches are also a standout and the antipasto and soup game is totally onpoint! The people who work at Franks are kind honest and incredibly hardworking, they produce the most satisfying meals we've had in Raleigh in all the years we have been here, we will miss them when we return to Italy soon. I respect this place and support them because it's not easy to be in business in the US, they deserve the praise. The folks who have held this down are solid, it's all real.

My wife, daughter, and I stopped in today after my parents recommended it to us. One step in the door and I was transformed to my local pizzeria in 1970s RI. We ordered a large pizza with half Green Pepper & Onion (my favorite) and half Mushroom & Black Olive (my wife's). The crust was nice, the toppings were plentiful, and the cheese was gooey. It was a solid pizza. Very well prepared. We also ordered a slice of cheese for my daughter which surprisingly came well after ours. I always feel compelled to try the chicken parm sub at any promising new place so we got that too. Unfortunately they always disappoint. They just don't make them like they used to (i.e. from a nice chicken cutlet made in house). We really enjoyed our visit and have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. We'll definitely be going back.

Come to find out it's a hidden gem that's been around for a long time and sales delicious slices of pizza with any toppings that you like at a Great price! They are closed on Mondays just FYI! I am a huge tiramisu fan and the limoncello cake that's a plus! Franks pizza is close to where I live, so that's even better! They have all kinds of pasta dishes and a variety of burgers and sandwiches! One more thing that is my favorite is there Philly steak and cheese hot sub! They are delicious! I add mozzarella cheese, American white cheddar, provolone, green bell peppers, onions and mayo and a delicious soft sub hoagie!!!! This is a Hidden gem in southeast Raleigh! They have great pizza and the service is good as well. If you're hungry for pizza or any kind of Italian for lunch or dinner you should check them out.

Small whole and wall place mom and pops kind of feel. I came here with a friend who recommended it. We dined in at a table. The service is super friendly and kind. Waitress came right over with menus. It's self seating. We opted to order the Philly cheesesteak with lettuce tomatoes and mayo. Wings, and fries, and a slice of pepperoni pizza. The wings were made so fresh fries were hot, and the pizza was some of the best pizza I ever had! I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. Place has been here since 1976. So now u know that's some good eating when people r so friendly and treat u like you're welcomed and not just a customer. Give it a try! You won't regret it

Real New York pizza served in a New York style parlor. The staff is friendly and conversational in nature especially when we brought up that my wife was from the New York area. The pizza was hot and fresh with a authentic flavor of the Bronx area. Yummy and delicious come to mind as we devoured the pie. Try it yourself and be prepared to be the same experience as we enjoyed. We will be coming back many times now

Not only was the service fast and friendly but the food is delicious, homemade, and inexpensive. We were met at the register by none other than the owner himself and got an order of the baked spaghetti and the baked ziti. Both were delicious, and we topped it off with a dessert of tiramisu and limoncello cake. An absolutely perfect meal!

Hands down best pizza in all of raleigh! Forget about oakwood, Lillie's and other hyped up places. Frank's is where it's at. Just don't judge the building!

Being a native NYer, I know good Za. Frank's Pizza and Italian restaurant has just that. I love the flavors, thin crust, and the way the garlic mixes with the cheese. The other thing for good Za is to have the grease running down my arm!!! Just like home!!! I will make this a must stop everytime I am in town. Family owned and operated Frank has brought a taste of New York to the south. Thank you very much, Frank!! My only downs are NONE, I came for Za not ambiance, wings, nor anything else except good pizza from back home. Btw Frank makes the pies himself!!!

One of my absolute favorite places to get take out from. From the past 20 years that I have been patronizing this establishment I probably have only dined in twice. It is very convenient to my home so I typically pick up my orders. My favorite is the steak and cheese sub. It is always piled high with meat, cheese and any of the toppings you wish for. The only bad thing I have to say is they are closed for 2 weeks around Christmas time so needless to say I am delighted when they reopen in the New Year!

I get pizza 1 time a year. ONE TIME!! I do a ton of research on that yearly pizza. This year, it was Frank's. Frank's is what you're looking for in a pizza joint. A little warm, old wood decor, cheap pitchers. For vibe, I give it 5/5 stars. Awesome help staff, family atmosphere. The only thing it's missing is a pinball machine. Let's get to the pizza. Great crust. Maybe my favorite. Do I taste corn meal? So good. I'm not the kind of guy that judges on sauce. That being said, Frank's sauce tastes real. No part of that sauce has met a can, but it knows it's way around a bag of sugar. Cheese is just right. The flop. Very floppy. Floppiest I've ever had probably. Not my favorite pizza by far. Wife got the calzone, it was huge and delicious. Pizza calzone and 2 beers are $25. Perfect date night. Frank's is what I want for the pizza experience, I just don't love the pizza. It's stood the test of time so I'm probably in the minority, but next year I'll try out a different spot in the triangle.
