Came here on the off chance after the restaurant we had booked (Taperna) was shuttered on arrival.
What luck! Very glad they could fit us in as this place is a gem. A relatively short menu, a bright space with lots of REAL plants (no fake plastic here), an open kitchen and friendly service.
We shared the sfincione focaccia to start - if you love sweet/salty flavours and generously oiled bread you'll love this.
For mains I had the tagliatelle pesto Trapanese - lots of flavour, hand made pasta, a rich tasty sauce with lots of pistachio and ricotta. My partner had the involtini which looked small but packed a punch and came with a side bowl of delicious caponata. We were both over the moon with our choices.
The young man (Jeffery, according to the bill) who was doing service was run off of his feet and he was also guiding the kitchen quite a lot. He clearly knows what he is doing as there were no issues with waiting time or errors. He had a new assistant (Luca I think I heard him say) who was on his first shift but seemed to be a willing learner and will soon know the ropes, I'm sure.
We're so glad we went here. First time in Brixton in years but I'd go back just for this.
