NYC Restaurants Forced to Get Political in Wake of ICE Immigration Firings | Eater NY

"One Friday around 7 p.m. I witnessed a dozen people in the busy Midtown sports bar-restaurant Clyde Frazier’s stand up and chant “No justice, no bread,” after which management quickly escorted them out and they rejoined others outside to continue shouting and handing out flyers, leaving diners visibly confused in a video of the event. The venue is owned by Ark Restaurant Group, which has publicly defended Tom Cat and said it will not 'cave' to activism that it believes would hurt immigrant employees." - Stefanie Tuder

Had a great Sunday brunch at Frazier Five & Dime! I got the Fine Burger — it’s massive (two patties!) and super flavorful. My friend ordered eggs, a biscuit, and hash potatoes, and they were happy to swap out the meat since she’s vegetarian. The biscuits are incredible — soft, buttery, and served with blueberry compote and apple butter. The fry crema sauce was also amazing. Riley was our waitress and she was so kind and accommodating. The owner, George, even stopped by to chat and share some history about the place, which was really nice. The patio is heated and dog-friendly, and they’ve got big fans for summer too. Loved the good music and nostalgic décor. Overall, just a really warm, welcoming place with great food. Highly recommend!

Frazier Five & Dime is a great, upscale restaurant in Downtown Chattanooga! We dropped in today for lunch, and it was a great experience. My favorite part of the restaurant is how well-kept the place is—every table was set perfectly, the bar and dining area was spotless, and even the bathroom was in pristine condition. Every staff member we talked to was also very kind and friendly. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, which was definitely my favorite from our meal! I ordered the fried bologna sandwich and it was delicious. The meal was a large portion, and it was a treat that both the white bread and bologna are made in house! I would also definitely recommend the lime tres leches—it was a refreshingly light dessert after our meal. The restaurant is on the pricier side, though. There are other restaurants in the area that serve similar food at a lower price point, but I would still say that Frazier Five & Dime is most definitely worth a visit.

I booked a party of 20 for my son’s 21st birthday a couple of days in advance. The manager was very communicative and flexible with our accommodations. Everything was set up for us upon arrival. The servers were very patient, professional, and kind. They answered all our questions knowledgeably and were well prepared to handle a large party of all ages. Drinks were delicious and I will definitely be back to try others. The Thirsty Cougar is the best espresso martini I have ever had and the Katy Perry was a light and refreshing drink. You couldn’t go wrong on the menu. I got the Steak Sammie with a little pink and it was delicious. My son got the Dime Bag Smash Burger and the portion was so large he finished it the next day. Also a tasty option. They made our celebration a wonderful experience from start to finish and I cannot say enough good things.

Google
One of the best eating experiences we had on our 2 week trip! Chattanooga was a stop on our way to Bowling Green KY and we were so glad we found this place!! Tyler, our 5 ⭐ Bartender, was a great addition to this outing. The service was on point. Now! Let's talk about deviled eggs.... I've never had deviled eggs so good!! Our dinner was outstanding! Even my Husband was impressed 😁 If you are in the area I highly recommend this laid back and very divine eating experience!!❤️

Google
The food was good, but not great except for the potatoes with bravas was out of this world! The ribs had great flavor but were tough. My friend didn't like the sauce on the steak sandwich, but said the steak was amazing. It was a cool place and the service was great. Just seems like there need to be a few menu tweaks? Worth checking out though! Especially for those potatoes.

Google
What an awesome place with a great atmosphere. George is the guy that runs this place, and he has more experience running drinking and eating establishments in Chattanooga than anyone except for maybe maybe old man river. The food is exceptional, small portions so keep that in mind. The drinks are always on point, and the customer service has never been disappointing. You gotta check this place out. It said North Shore staple.

Google
⸻ Great brunch spot in North Shore, Chattanooga! Very upscale vibe but still relaxed and welcoming. We had an amazing bartender/server named Tyler—he took excellent care of us and made the experience even better. I had the sorbet mimosa, which was refreshing and unique, and my partner had the Auntie Mary and the Local Fashioned—both were fantastic. They have a great selection of drinks overall. For food, I had the French toast (delicious), and he got the Five and Dime breakfast platter. The potatoes were seriously good, and the bacon was thick and flavorful. They do take reservations, but we walked right in with no problem. Highly recommend—we’ll definitely be back! Please follow us to see more great adventures, and help a girl out - give us a like!

Google
The food was good and our server was attentive. I played it save with the parmesean chicken Sammie. I would definitely come back and try something new. I got my sauces on the side just in case and they were both perfectly seasoned and textured.

Yelp
We ordered ALL of the "small" dishes as a group of 4 adults and one child. Every single dish was incredible! We also had a couple of specialty cocktails which were both fun and delicious. Nice ambiance too. But one of the best parts of the night may well have been Katie - our server. So sweet and personable! She was truly a breath of fresh air. Oh and the "chocolate bomb" was greatly appreciated by my wife, whose birthday we were celebrating. Katie made sure to put a candle on it to make it extra special.

Yelp
Came by for a Saturday lunch, wasn't very busy. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time - was told lamb shank would take a out 20 minutes and if that was ok, we said yes but thought our pork belly carbonara would come earlier, but they came at the same time. The lamb shank meet was very fall off the bone tender - very good! But it was way too salty and the polenta and gravy didn't help; wish there was more textural differences as everything was just mushy/saucy. The pork belly carbonara was not bad but didn't taste like a carbonara. Husband doesn't like okra and didn't know it'd be in it. Doesn't say on menu. I thought it was just OK. Probably wouldn't return. For this price point would rather eat at other restaurants, but it is a stylish restaurant that's probably great for drinks.

Yelp
We anticipated coming to Frazier Five & Dime for brunch, but it ended up being a lunch menu only. We were suspicious walking in at 1130 because there was no one seated in the store front and there was not a host to greet us, but it ended up being fine. The server explained her favorite items ans suggested wonderful plates that we thougroughly enjoyed. Overall, it is a little pricey for lunch. Definitely delicious. Nothing crazy pr standout at first glance, but the menu items that we did decide on were elevated. Service was also a bit slow and not as attentive as it would be given the same circumstances at a competing restaurant. 08-09-2025

Yelp
Food is delicious, good date night spot or classy group event! Prices remain competitive. The fish is delish (Chefs' kiss)

Yelp
Really enjoyed eating here in Chattanooga. The menu was diverse and unique. Our server Art did a fantastic job and helped with some great drink selections from their bar. The interior design of the place was chic and classy. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday afternoon. Food was terrible, tons of swarming flies, slow service. The steak and ribs were like jerky, salad was fresh, pretzel bites were mediocre.
google avatar

Kathy F.

Yelp
We showed up on a busy night, but had the luck to be seated at the chef's window bar. Everything was amazing, except maybe one little thing we can talk about later. We started with seared scallops, cooked perfectly. Then we shared a wedge salad. The dressing was delicious, but the lettuce was too dense to cut through for me...trying hard to be a lady Next we shared the lamb kebab, compliments of the kitchen. They were absolutely amazing. Roasted chicken was last. My goodness, the Smokey flavor was incredible. Our server Katie was a delight and took great care of us. As did the young chef expediting the service .

Yelp
Perfect...food, location, service, drinks, ambiance. Will return on our next trip to Chattanooga!

Yelp
Friendly service, great food, and well priced. Will definitely stop in here next time through.

Yelp
Fairly empty at 8pm and we're seated after what seemed like an awkward period standing at the hostess stand. Seated and greeted and our server shared the concept, history and a couple of recommendations. We ordered sandwiches. Both sandwiches were elevated version of a traditional sandwich. Good was the shared opinion of the food. The vibe is cool and young, with techno and rap playing throughout. The breaking point for me and the key contributors to the 3 stars were the flies. Nothing will ruin a meal for me more than chasing flies. Fans, air curtains, repellant or blue light traps. If all else fails try bats : )

Yelp
I am SO SO SO happy this popped up in our Yelp search during the road trip from Nashville to Chattanooga!!! Pet friendly patio, AMAZING cocktails and delicious food!! My only regret is that I don't live closer and/or was unable to visit a second time while in town. Go go go!!!

Catie W.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic! I threw a surprise birthday party for my mother, hosting about 30 people. Fraizer 5 and 10 took amazing care of us. From planning, to accommodating a private menu, it was perfect. Five and dime was elegant, delicious, professional, and affordable. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Yelp
We enjoyed our visit to the restaurant. Our server was kind and attentive. My drink was very good. Everyone enjoyed their dish as well. It's nice that they'd reimburse $3 out of your parking cost. We definitely will come back.
google avatar

Andee H.

Yelp
The food was so amazing. I had the salmon and the hard boiled eggs. The hard boiled eggs rocked. I mean, they were amazing. The service was great and I loved the vibe. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Excellent service. Food was very well done. No wait time. Nice atmosphere. Good looking bar.

Marialice H.

Yelp
We loved our waitress Bella and sampled several fantastic dishes. Our favorites were the smoked fish fritters, beet salad and lamb meatballs! We split the pecan nutty trout and cauliflower gratin, both were delicious! Definitely going back! Great happy hour deals too!
google avatar

Yelp
I had brunch with my aunt and uncle here and it was "decent " They put some sort of lemon in the beignets which turned me off. They also put some sort of Lemon in the French toast ( the menu does not state this) My aunt and uncle liked it because of the ambience. I am more of a food person, I don't care took much how things look.

Yelp
Great Food and Drinks were Delicious ... awesome service! Very friendly staff and inviting atmosphere.
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Great cocktails! I've only been here for drinks, but I was very pleased with their cocktail menu! I got the Violet Vines - the prettiest cocktail, almost too pretty to drink, but the flavor is so good! I definitely recommend reservations on a weekend night. It was busy on a Friday, but we just sat at the bar. Good happy hour - definitely check it out! Food menu looks great...we'll be back.

Yelp
We went for dinner on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was beautiful, food and service were really great. Definitely recommend.

Anna B.

Yelp
We went for an early Sunday supper (4:00) to celebrate a birthday. The patio was nice. The food was good, the service was subpar. It took the server 30 minutes to make her way to the table to take our order. Other than taking the order, dropping the meal and check off, we never saw serving staff. No one checked on our beverages and I had to get up and go to the hostess station to get a check delivered to the table. It was not the experience I expect from this experienced restauranteur.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating! We sat outside as the weather was amazing! We started with their drink special, sangria! The sangria had an alcoholic popsicle in it! Delicious!! We had a starter of pimento deviled eggs. They were good but could have used a little salt. I had the wedge salad with steak and my friend had the gyro. We both enjoyed our meals! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu!
google avatar

Margaret W.

Yelp
Delighted in all of the above! Cat our server was so helpful, super cool ambiance and lovely outside seating as well . We came in town for the Riverfront Concert series and walked over the bridge to this golden find. The app crab cakes had a crispy crust, the salmon was perfectly crisp, the wedge and steak yummy! Okay and we had a party of 6 and everyone was pleased!!!!!

Yelp
I never say this but this place is underpriced for the quality AND quantity. Arrived in Chattanooga and yelp told me to go to Milk & Honey. Line out the door, not waiting, I was getting hangry. Walked back down the road and saw Five and Dime. Walked in and immediately thought "ooo they fancy". Sat down, priced shocked me. Affordable... in this economy??? Then... the best southern style breakfast I have had outside of Charleston SC. Sweet, Savory, Satisfied. If you don't stop here for brunch, you're a fool. I didn't have time to take pictures. But here's a picture of my eater biscuit smothered in apple butter.
google avatar

Yelp
A fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server Misty was the perfect amount of attentive and was knowledgeable about the menu. The gentleman at the door (wish I had his name) was wonderful as well. If he wasn't seating people he was running food and clearing tables. This place runs like a well oiled machine. We had the house old fashioned, grilled octopus, grouper collar, carbonara and then bread pudding for desert, each dish was top notch. We wouldn't change a thing. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Chattanooga

Yelp
Top shelf! We had the most AMAZING steak here - far exceeding expectations and quality compared to any other steak I've had in the area. We started with the Crawfish Salad and it was quite delectable. We started analyzing what had to be in it so we could try to replicate it at home. Then it was on to the Hanger Steak, the absolute STAR of the show. You've just got to try it, I can't even explain how good it was. We both found the Brava potatoes to be somewhat underwhelming. But, you know, sometimes something's a little off, no problem. Finally we had the pumpkin spice ice cream and a Key Lime & Coconut cake. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin spice, but Bon enjoyed it greatly. We were both blown away by the cake. It was a continual delight to the taste buds with every single mouthful. Don't pass it up!
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance. Able to make reservations online. Our appetizer of fish balls was just ok - not really what we expected. My salmon was DELICIOUS - honestly the best salmon I've had. The sides were veggies and couscous and were also good. The drinks were great.
google avatar

Kimberly T.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here on our way through town. The drinks were great (I had cocktails & my husband had beers). We shared the Nola style shrimp, potatoes & brava sauce (so cozy & tasty), the patty melt-style sandwich. I was so glad we shared because I think we ordered the most decadent menu items. Hah! We sat at the bar and the staff were all really great too!
google avatar

Yelp
We were lucky to stop in a few weekends ago while waiting for a reservation down the street, and we ended up eating here instead. The food was excellent, and the sangria was so delicious I had two, complete with basil lemonade popsicles dunked in them. I loved the smoked fish fritters and my date enjoyed her half smoked chicken. The location is , like most places on Chattanooga's north shore, lovely. The staff were fantastic and the vibe was on point. This eatery is in the regular rotation now , what more can I say ?

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday afternoon at 430pm. Please not too busy sine it is between lunch and dinner. Very nice relaxing decor. We were seated in the back dining room. It is ideal for large party private rooms The waiter is friendly and informative. Good options including seafood and meats. Great selection of side items. We started with crab cakes appetizer. Two cakes full of crab meat. Light pink sauce. The wedge salad has bacon and grapes. I subbed bacon for tomato. It had a bit too much blue cheese dressing but it was overall of great quality. My wife tried the beet salad. She loved it. I got the prime rib sandwich and subbed fries for the potatoes with bravo sauce. The Santa's has a nice soft toasted bread. The meat was nice and juicy with pesto sauce. The potatoes and bravo sauce dish was a bit large. I loved the roasted potatoes and the bravo sauce went well with it. It is a spicy tomato sauce. Very similar to a diavolo sauce. My wife ordered the Chilean salmon with lemon couscous. She loved it. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. We would definitely return.

Yelp
Great little spot outside of Chattanooga! The vibe was great, we ordered appetizers and they were all good. We had the wings, ribs, deviled eggs. My kids loved the butter macaroni.

Yelp
I absolutely loved finding Frazier by pure luck when I was wandering the streets of Chattanooga looking for a cool watering hole and I couldn't have done better than this place! Ambiance was warm and inviting; bartenders were absolutely amazing with their suggestions and how genuinely they cared. Also happened to be happy hour so I tried their Margarita Flight that came with the 4 most delicious and fancy top shelf margaritas I've ever had that were almost too pretty to consume. Highly recommend Frazier and will be back to dine next time!

Catherine T.

Yelp
We could not have asked for a better more organized place to have our daughter's graduation luncheon. I reached out to George from another state months before and he was so helpful and informative. Day of luncheon, we had amazing Dustin and Kay paying sharp attention to our every need. My daughter said it was the happiest day of her life. Everyone loved the amazing menu selection and specialities. High class service and decor. Could not ask for more!
google avatar

Jade G.

Yelp
This is my new favorite place! I love the ambiance, dark and elegant with a touch industrial style. The waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The menu was very fun and playful with the ingredients they used. I will definitely be going back.

Catherine S.

Yelp
I loved my order today. I had the roasted beets to start. They were amazing. I'll be honest, I'm not a beet fan but I like to challenge my buds. I was so pleased with this starter. The beets aren't strong and the combination is amazing . Service was perfect from the bartender(I eat alone often). The dessert was the tres leches and was amazing. This was a good dinner all the way around. I would highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
What a great restaurant and experience. My wife and I ate at the Chef's table and loved the food, cocktails and dessert. Try the key lime for dessert- best we've ever had! We will be going back again!

Yelp
I called this place trying to buy a gift card as a gift and the person I spoke to, who alleged to be a manager, acted so completely inconvenienced and not interested in helping. Absolutely unbelievable for someone in the service industry to act so unwilling to provide good service. Spend your money elsewhere where they actually want your business.
google avatar

Judy G.

Yelp
We had a great server and was lucky to have a staffer enjoying a date night near us . He did not mind my inquiry about his beet salad , I ordered it/ truly different and fabulous! And I will be trying to add some pimento cheese to my deviled egg recipe ! We will be back soon!

Yelp
We had an absolute blast visiting this Northshore Chattanooga gem for girls' night out! The interior design of the bar and restaurant areas are wonderful and welcoming. The staff as well are very pleasant. We especially enjoyed sitting at the bar and talking with other visitors. Tyler was the gentleman we dealt with the most while at the bar and he was very knowledgeable about mixology. The drinks he crafted were very nice and we appreciated his creativity--the drinks he made were absolutely delicious! We also ordered a spread of small plates--some were more than expected while others were far under expectation. The lamb meatball and octopus were the only let downs of the night. Most places I have traveled to and had octopus have offered at least a quantity of three (3) for such items for the same price point. Either way, they were still absolutely delicious. Recommendations: * Ask about menu items in regards to quantity, and such, to gain full understanding of the different items. * Make a reservation if you wish to sit inside but not at the main bar. (They offer a Chef's Bar seating area that is comparable to a chef's table--is really cool!) * Park in Coolidge Park behind shops for safer parking (no street traffic to worry about).

Yelp
We had a one night stay over in Chattanooga. Yelp helped us find this place and they hit it out of the park. Nola shrimp were simply amazing. Do not sleep on the smash burger. Will definitely stop next time we are in town
google avatar

Hailey M.

Yelp
This was our second time dining here, and the food was phenomenal! My husband and I both had the bartender's choice for mocktails, and all three drinks were AMAZING! All of our food was delicious, and we would definitely recommend Frazier Five & Dime to anyone. The atmosphere is very private inside, but they have a large enclosed porch (pet friendly!), as well as a very nice and open bar area. They have seating for individuals all the way to large parties. We will definitely be returning!
google avatar

Jaclyn D.

Yelp
Food was extremely different, but in a great way. House made sausage and biscuits and gravy had a unique flavor and both were amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing service! Great delicious food! Beautiful restaurant. I had the trout and it was delicious! We all shared the deviled eggs and crab cakes for appetizer and they were amazing! Great tasting and quality, the crab cakes were all crab. Dessert was delicious too!

D K.

Yelp
We were traveling through Chattanooga and found Frazier Five & Dime in Yelp. We ate there on a Tuesday evening. The place was packed! The atmosphere was great! The menu had some interesting items. I particularly enjoyed the fried bologna sandwich!

Yelp
Had a lovely meal over a holiday weekend at FF&D. I've followed this restaurant on Instagram for a long time and finally got to try it out. We sat at the chefs bar, they also have tables and booths, indoor and outdoor patio seating, and a bar upfront which was a bit rowdy (in a good way - seemed very laid back with football on). I love the overall vibe - upscale hipster-ish without being snobby or inaccessible. Great menu of southern classics with a twist. We started with deviled eggs and grilled bread with caper tapenade which was outstanding. The eggs could use a little flavor (or salt?). I ordered the grouper with grits and it was a work of art plus super yummy with that crispy skin. Hubs ordered the trout which he said was great. We had roasted carrots and collard greens on the side which was perhaps unnecessary but also really good. For cocktails I had a mezcal tequila cocktail - called Fear and Loathing maybe? - and it was very smoky but delicious. Not my normal order but recommended by the server. We topped off our already full bellies with bread pudding and the chef sent over complimentary champagne. The entire meal cost less than $100 and it was such a nice experience. I definitely plan to go back and bring the family, even my "meat and potatoes " father in law will be comfortable here with the menu. Parking is a bit tough but we parked a few blocks off and walked over. Lovely neighborhood restaurant - they really got it right with the blend of traditional and modern southern.

Yelp
Arrived @ 5pm empty restaurant.. unfriendly hostess said no tables available except outside.. MMmm ok we'll sit at the bar. The bar seats are an awkward fit.. but nice aesthetic. Bar staff luke warm.. just be safe .. get some drinks & smash burgers.., not feeling like making a bigger investment. Food is fine. Just okay.. not meeting potential. Left with most tables still empty & listless looking hostess. Too bad.

Jeanetta S.

Yelp
Our Server was very helpful and had no trouble w recommending things to us. We had some shareable items and split a salad. Loved the special dessert of a pumpkin-carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and the added pepitas, crumble and caramel really made it special and fun. The perfect weather made our patio seating even better. Would definitely return here!

Diana T.

Yelp
If I could give a 4.5 I would, this was very close to 5 territory. The inside is very nice and polished - perhaps not the most special, but very inviting. Ate at the bar, of course, and our bartender was very friendly. Sports on two TVs, which i usually don't care for - but not obtrusive..brass and glass - nice overall. I gotta say the two gin/violette drinks I had were amazing. Two other things of note, the lamb meatballs were probably best I've had - no idea what they put in those things, so tender and delicious. ALSO the beets had..I dunno, crushed corn nuts i think, on them and they were awesome. I had the pasta with lardons, good, but pasta more done than I love. Very good overall.

Yelp
Amazing brunch experience, went with a group of friends and has some of the best brunch in Chattanooga- prices aren't bad either! Great cocktail selection
