New Seattle Bill Gives Hazard Pay to Local Grocery Store Workers | Eater Seattle

"I note that Fred Meyer stores are included in the list of businesses impacted by the ordinance and would be required to provide a $4-per-hour hazard-pay increase to eligible grocery workers while the civil emergency remains in effect, subject to council review after four months." - Gabe Guarente

Grocery Workers Union Calls for a Boycott of Local Supermarket Chain Fred Meyer | Eater Portland

"Union members and leaders are calling for a boycott of Fred Meyer after United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 reported that managers at certain Fred Meyer stores have "threatened and harassed" union members, allegedly insinuating they are worthless and easily replaceable; the union canceled contract extensions at the end of August amid stalled contract negotiations and has filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. Fred Meyer calls those claims a "misrepresentation" and says a boycott would hurt employees and help non-union competitors, and recent photos show the chain advertising for replacement workers in case of a strike." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Called several Fred Meyer stores looking for a Lego set for my daughter, and the guy in the Toy/Home department at the Bellevue Fred Meyer was awesome. This was Monday evening (12/15). He checked the system, ran to the shelf to double-check, and even offered to hold it for me. They didn’t have the exact set we needed, but his customer service was excellent. Hope his manager knows what a great employee they have!

Google
Overall, the store is great, but the fresh meats and seafood department truly stands out. Everyone there works hard, and each visit has been better than the last. I recently stopped by around 7 a.m.—the displays were already set up, though the team was still working in the area. Instead of asking me to return once everything was fully ready, the manager set aside what he was doing and provided excellent service. He took the time to answer all my questions, and I walked away with a huge slab of pork belly—yes, real pork belly from Hill’s Farm, not imported! But that’s not even the main point. I keep coming back because their meat and seafood departments consistently offer fresh, high-quality products. Thank you.

Google
the wait to pay is 15 carts deep. you need more people at the cash registers. lane 3 is open out of 13 lanes. just one. self checkout is open. that’s it. pathetic

Google
Deceptively huge store with tons of stuff, everything from groceries to clothes to furniture to house paint. Nice big self checkout area so if you normally only buy a few things at a time like me, you pretty much never wait in a line.

Google
The Bellevue location has a great feel and layout. I felt like they've added a better selection of items than other locations. Some great deals too

Jan D.

Google
Because the Redmond, WA store closed, I stopped by here on a Tuesday evening for a few grocery items. The layout is awkward and not straight-forward, with barriers and tall, angled shelving. It is difficult to find anything, or see far enough through the store to find the way around in a systematic way. Maybe an interesting place for browsers, but I'm a weekly get-it-done and get out shopper. Then the self-check out lines discourage full baskets. Who has time to stand in line so long, waiting for others to work through check out? Then, check your own items? I waited in the line with a checker who seemed deliberately slow. After 16 minutes, I gave up and went to self check-out. I hope the Totem Lake store is better, or I'm boycotting Fred Meyer like I do Target and Walmart, and going to Safeway.

Google
I liked Kroger better when it was backed more heavily by Unions. The service has dropped & the harsh lighting means I'm always in and out as fast as possible. Lost the more family service feeling they used to have.

Yelp
Needed some groceries so I stopped in. Lots of thanksgivings fix'in available at decent prices. And on sale. I like shop g at this location cause there a big variety to choice from and fruits and veggies are fresh.

Yelp
You can't come to Washington and not go to the famous Fred Meyer. Staff: Gage was the one employee that we encountered at self check out. He was very nice and helpful. Definitely think he's doing a great job. Quality/Quantity: The store has literally everything you can imagine. It has food, clothes, camping, gear, beds, lights, everything. It is truly a remarkable store that I've always enjoyed visiting when coming to Washington. Value: It seems like there are a really good prices here from the foods to the goods. Saw a really cool T-shirt that was on clearance for 50% off. However, be sure you have a membership as it is not 50% off without a membership. Overall: Big fan of the store always have been always will be. If you're in the Washington area be sure to visit.

Yelp
This is one of the larger Fred Meyer's. I was really hoping for some new PJ pants so I popped my head in here. There were signs about the faux-police checking receipts, but they didn't appear to be actually doing it at the time so I proceeded in. Fred Meyer has all the things that you'd expect to find at a grocery store and then some since it has several departments for all of your needs. Being a larger store they have a good selection of products. Use the store card to get the savings. No complaints on my most recent trip, as long as they stop pretending to be a private club I might put Freddy's back into my weekly shopping rotation.

Jeffrey P.

Yelp
FM got me used to paying 6.99 for diet pepsi and dr pepper even thought i can get it for less at WinCo. Last month I went in and their sign says buy 2 get 1 free, but now they are priced at around $10.90/ea. I picked up 1 and at the cashier was told that I now have to pay $10.90 if I only buy one. It's really disappointing when they screw over their customers like this.

Yelp
Large 'everything' store in Bellevue. Fred Meyer for us in the Midwest meant the jewelry store, but here in the Pacific Northwest represents a Super Target like place where both department store items and grocery items can be purchased. We needed to get new Orca transit cards to ride the buses (we had forgot ours at home, and they don't offer the mobile way yet). One can purchase that from the Customer Service desk at the front, which took a LONG time. Everyone was pleasant, but because one of the associates was dealing with something with a customer that seemed to be taking forever, one manager had to man one of the stations while also racing around to help others. It actually gave me time to pick up some cold medicine, and the line had barely moved while I was gone. I'm not sure what Fred Meyer is classified as, from a credit card rewards perspective. Per reddit, it can be grocery or wholesale club. I guess I will find out once my transaction posts.

Yelp
UPDATE APRIL 28, 2023: Hooray! I'm happy to announce that effective April 11, 2023, Fred Meyer (in Bellevue at least), by popular demand, now takes mobile pay (Apple Pay and Google pay). No more having to dig my credit card out of my wallet! It pays to keep asking cashiers who tell you they don't accept mobile pay "when are you going to get mobile pay?"

Yelp
This Fred Meyer was remodeled, seemingly not that long ago, but it is already starting to look old and tired. It is always dim inside. The lights don't reflect well. I never want to stay long, which is not good as a shopper. This location is near many restaurants. I tend to stop by during the weekends. I find the sale items, maybe 60% of the time. Inventory doesn't always last through the weekend. No comment on staff because I don't see any. Many of the areas that normally have staff are closed at after-dinner hours - deli, bakery, seafood, etc. The cashier lines are almost always longer, so I self check-out instead. I don't dislike this store. But I have no reason to like anything, either.

Loudy O.

Yelp
This Fred Meyer is the worst of all that I've been shopping for. It's a huge store. But, when it's time to check out, it's only 2 cashiers working with in the cash register in fact there's a lot of checking out registered station but no one there and the self checkout was full of people and more people lined up waiting for their turns including me with my client who came with me shopping. So with this experience, I'll never come back again on this location unless they will hire more cashiers. I've never seen like these!! Why having a big store and can't accommodate enough the customers. We just can't wait the long line all day waiting for our turned to check out it wasn't a good system at all. I loved and missed the old system before 10 years ago. Everything changed!!!

Yelp
Absolutely awful service. We were denied the purchase of alcohol even though we are both of age, could prove such and weren't intoxicated. Kim (store manager on duty) was extremely disrespectful and allowed an associate to profile us and attempted to cover for her negative behavior. This store is a complete waste of time. I don't recommend shopping at this center.
google avatar

Julienne P.

Yelp
This Fred Meyer is great because they have all the department store items as well as the grocery store obviously It always seems very well organized and clean but the parking lot is just really hard to navigate for some reason and it's always very very very busy So if that doesn't bother you, it's a great place to go.
google avatar

Jemellee S.

Yelp
Is it a grocery store or a Department Store? I ask this because they have many different items you can find in this store. It has food, health and beauty, home essentials, and pet items. Oh by the way there is a fine jewelry and clothing department. It's a one stop shop. I apologize no photos available!

Yelp
Loved coming here the first year after the big remodel. Now I am unable to come here and shop. I am disabled. For 3 years now, every time I try to shop (about once every 6 months)-- the electric shopping carts are BROKEN or not charged up. I guess Fred is so busy, they don't care about my $$$ and if I shop there or not... so be it. But I am NOT able to shop there without an electric cart. Will never try to come here again.. they apparently do not care about handicapped shoppers!

Yelp
The pharmacy staff at this location NEVER have my prescription (ONE PRESCRIPTION) ready, even though I use the Fred Meyer app four to five days in advance to make sure it shows up in the queue on the day it can be refilled. Several times, I had to call my doctor's office to make sure they authorized the refill(s), only to be told it hasn't been faxed over. I go to the app, MyChart, which verified the prescription had been sent over ten days ago, and they say they don't have it. I understand working in a pharmacy is busy ALL THE TIME. I worked for several retail pharmacies, including Kroger pharmacies, so I am aware of the workflow and how to get all of the prescriptions filled and dispensed over an eight hour workday. Regrettably, my insurance only uses Kroger Pharmacies, so I get stuck in this maddening chaos of calling the pharmacy, using their app, and verifying my prescription was faxed and/or called over from my doctor. The customer service from the pharmacy manager, pharmacists, and other pharmacy employees is lackluster at best, as they can be rude when they find out they were wrong, and the prescription HAD BEEN SENT OVER IN THE FIRST PLACE. This is insipid. Something has to change. Going through this EVERY MONTH is ridiculous.

Yelp
Clean and organized superstore with great employees. We came on a sunday afternoon so it was quite busy and a little crowded, but we were able to find everything we needed and more and were in and out within 30 minutes. The butcher was super kind and everything was fresh. He helped us right away and was friendly making sure we found what we were looking for. They also have a great bulk section which we loved as we got a bunch of fresh nuts. The cashiers were so efficient especially Jasmeet who helped us check out quickly and found the plu codes efficiently for our items despite the fact we forgot to write them down. They also have lots of fresh foods as well as a jewlery store that is priced very reasonably and a huge household/ clothing selection. Overall, we love this fred meyers and are always impressed with their service and efficiency even on busy weekends. Weekdays are also great for good deals and great finds.

Yelp
management hire that people who promote racism. Today I'm going to buy cigarette and they want to scan id because it's there policy but I just ask the manager who comes after I call that your policies above the Washington states law? The manager told me to get out of the store. I don't care what's there policy but who allow him to insult the customer in a crowed of peoples. I'm 41 years old not a 18 years, law allows them to check id,if someone looks younger. Rubbish custOmer service . How the managment hire like these people who insult their customers. store at 2041 148th Ave ne Bellevue Washington. 98007

Yelp
Note to self: If you don't want to lose your mind waiting in their checkout lines, avoid this store. Every time I go to this place I end up wondering how Amazon's self checkout isn't a raging success yet.

Yelp
Terrible service with coinstar and their employees They took $97 worth of my coins and I never got my money's worth. When we exchanged our coins and they brought the receipt to the counter, they told us to comeback on another day instead of giving us our money immediately. I went back in a few days later, they told me they couldn't give me my money back because I didn't change it on the same day even though they told me to come back later. They then told us to call their customer service number but hung up on my call after a few minutes. what kind of scam is this?!

Heather W.

Yelp
I love this store! Everyone is helpful! Same guy who collects carts car side, to deliver you a cart before you enter store, to wait to do final trash dump while nature is insisting to use BR. I entered a gift card wrong and manager made sure, refunded cc transaction and gift card...awesome ppl. I miss lady whose been on known vaca... but, her back-ups first rate! I love everyone in this store!

Yelp
This review is for George, the Fred Meyer worker who gathered the grocery shopping carts in the rain today at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 2. My husband and I shop groceries here once a week, and we watched how the workers gather the shopping carts. Today we met George who is extremely diligent in gathering the shopping carts in the rain. He is also friendly with customers. On our way out, we watched him helping an elderly lady carrying groceries out. GEORGE IS A KEEPER!

Yelp
Here on a Saturday morning and every lane that is open has 10-15 customers waiting. There are only 4 lanes with checkers and the self checkout on the house wares side is closed. Selection is pretty good but waiting 30-60 minutes to checkout yourself is unacceptable

Shirl H.

Yelp
When is okay for a store cashier to threaten a senior citizen? I was in the store yesterday morning and realized that it was senior discount day. I am a senior citizen and told the cashier twice to include the discount. He rang up my purchases and I asked if he gave me the discount. He said no. I asked him why because I told him twice that I was a senior. He then replied in a very aggressive manner, "What do you want me to do about it!" While he was yelling at me, he very aggressively came towards me. I asked his name, He yelled that his name is Eddie and said do you want to take a picture! I have been shopping there for 30 years and will never go back. I talked with a manager and customer service about it. All the said is that they will talk with him. That guy is a threat to customers and needs to be fired!

Yelp
I love this Fred Meyer location for a variety of reasons. The location works great for me as it is close to my office and while I live in Seattle (close to the 90 ramp), I still come here as my "go-to" grocery store. In a normal environment where there is no "Stay at Home" order, you can get a good hot lunch and a well positioned dining area. While I haven't tried having a drink at the bar, it's on my list to do. The Starbucks inside is great because there's a dedicated dining area unlike some stores where it is an "order and go" style. I'm a fan of Fred Meyer in general and especially over the Safeway that's near by. I couldn't recommend it more.

Yelp
hire more cashier!!! only two registers open in the middle. of the day is utterly ridiculous.

Yelp
Fred Meyer in Issaquah has been the best pharmacy I have ever gone to. New to Washington and they have gone way above and beyond to help me get settled. They are kind and accommodating - sadly, that's pretty rare. They have my loyalty 100%.
google avatar

Yelp
I usually hit FM as a fallback when I can't find stuff in my usual places. I like that they have a vast variety of items, not only groceries. Aside from the usual day to day items, I bought a few other "specialized" things and I appreciate that I could find those here. Example I bought a decent youth bicycle, the Bundt cake pan I was looking for, drying racks for pastries, home organization containers, some automotive stuff, and more. I never visited the gardening area, but it looks interesting. All in all I like it, it's very convenient for me location wise, it has an ample parking lot, and it is a really big store.

Yelp
Today I visited Fred Meyer after its remodel and was blown away. The store exceeded my expectations with large selections of items to choose from, great prices, and super friendly employees. This experience was completely different than the one I had two years back, prior to its remodel. The store was incredibly clean and well-kept. I was impressed with its large alcohol section and counter where I saw people casually sipping on beer. Wow, in a Fred Meyer?? The meat and seafood employees were very helpful and attentive as soon as I approached the counter. When I had a question, an employee walked with me to help me find the item I was looking for, rather than just telling me which aisle to find it in. There was no line to check-out with a surplus of cashiers waiting to help the next customer, and everyone had a smiling face. Even though I love the Fred Meyer in Kirkland, I think Bellevue just one-upped it.
google avatar

Yelp
Went there to buy some balloons. We waited at the balloon customer service desk and no one was there. We asked customer service to please call someone to help us with buying balloons. We waited for 25 minutes and asked the customer service desk 4 times for someone to help us have some balloons blown up and no one ever came. We finally left and went to Safeway across the street.

Yelp
Bullshit*t now, they changed hours to 7am to 10pm. No more opening at 6am. What a bunch of sh*t.

Yelp
After a nearly yearlong renovation, the Bellevue Fred Meyer reopened two weeks ago. The store added 13,000 square feet of floor space and the grocery section has been greatly expanded. If you have been to this Fred Meyer before the renovation, you will be wowed at the remarkable transformation. It had better be wow if you spend $22 million on the upgrade. The layout of the store has been changed quite a bit. Apparel is still on the left side of the store, but electronics has moved to the south wing as well. Grocery selection is definitely larger than before. There is now a Murray's Cheese counter and a growler station in store. The deli selection has a lot more offerings. There is fried chicken, pizza and sushi among the dining options. Convenient option for Microsoft workers during lunchtime. The store also carries more upscale items than before. Items that you would usually only find at the downtown Bellevue QFC can be found here now. The meat/seafood counter and bakery also offer a larger assortment of items before. There are fresh loaves of artisan bread. And they even have poke here now, though the taste was a bit disappointing as the texture wasn't so good compared with the poke offerings at Metropolitan Market and Uwajimaya. But what really has me coming back to Fred Meyer are their prices. The everyday prices are better here than shopping at QFC or Safeway. Though the store was upgraded, it is nice to know that the grocery prices are just as good as before. And since the store is still in grand opening celebration mode, they have been offering a lot of good deals. With new stores like New Seasons Market on Mercer Island, the Metropolitan Market in Sammamish and the Redmond Costco while Fred Meyer was under renovation, this refresh is a much needed upgrade to keep the store competitive in the increasingly crowded grocery wars on the Eastside.

Yelp
I usually wouldn't write a review for a grocery store, but I feel the need because what I've experienced on three separate occasions is super unacceptable and I am really frustrated. The first time, I bought an apricot jam that had already been opened with some mildew/mold growing on top. I threw it away and thought to myself "ok-that's kind of my fault for not noticing that" and made sure I started paying attention to the lids on jars. The second time, I bought a Sabra hummus & pretzel snacker and the side with pretzels had already been opened, more than half of the pretzels were gone, and they were all stale. Honestly it looked like someone ate from it. The third time truly just sent me over the edge. Today I went to enjoy my Starbucks iced coffee that I bought while grocery shopping last week, and looked at the bottle to see that it had expired 2 MONTHS AGO! I understand that it's also my responsibility to check the expiration dates for things, however I really shouldn't have to do that when I'm grocery shopping. I should be able to trust that the store is restocking their shelves often enough... This location Fred Meyer does not value its customers if this is the type of store they run.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst customer service I have experienced. Went in to quickly pick up a pair of wireless headphones. Took card to desk, 10 minutes of searching at the register followed by another 10 minutes of searching in the stock room. Could not be found, asked to settle for different color. Then the sale price advertised did not ring up. Salesperson offered to match price, had to wait another 10 minutes for a manager to override. Additional salesperson kept complaining they were short staffed an untrained. Won't be back.

Yelp
So this Fred Meyer is modern & huge! I still don't know my way around the aisles yet even after 9 months of shopping here. The Starbucks inside is pretty Hipster with nice wooden tones and plenty of inside seating available. Their fresh fruit and vegetables are always really nice and they have great weekly deals. My father in law mainly utilized the inside bar where they had $4 pints during happy hour 4pm to 7pm every day. I never have to wait long in line as they have so many self check out stands which I use every time. I love the deli with their fresh sandwiches and salads, along with the sushi bar. The fresh bakery bread is also excellent at $2.50 a loaf. Fred Meyer also has an amazing nuts, muesli, dried fruits and oats area, conveniently next to the bar. I'm really happy that this Fred Meyer is our local grocery store and only a 15 minute walk from our house.

Yelp
Back in the Before Times, I'd hardly ever been to this Fred Meyer. But during COVID-19, this location has turned into a standby for grocery curbside pickup. So this is a review primarily of their pickup service. Their website is a little clunky, but works pretty well for searching and adding items to your cart. I've been impressed by the variety of items that are available, both on the grocery side and housewares side. The wine selection is pretty good and easy to order as well. Meat and produce are the trickiest things to order. About half the time, I get produce that's WAY underripe, bizarrely small/large, damaged, or otherwise not something a normal shopper would ever pick out for themselves. The website is confusing because it lists produce prices by the pound, but if you ask for a quantity of one, you get one PIECE. An employee told me that you can use the notes section to request something specific, but that hasn't worked when I've tried it, so I just accept that the produce isn't the best. Once you have what you want, you reserve a day/time and place your order, although -- annoyingly -- you don't get charged until the day you pick up. This matters because often you'll see a sale price, but the price changes before your pickup day, so you get charged more. This has happened regardless of the pickup day, so it seems a little sketchy -- it's not like prices always change on a Sunday or whatever. And you don't get a chance to review the prices of items in your order when you pick up. This is the most frustrating part of the process, and I wish they'd charge you when you place your order so you know how much you're paying! The actual pickup, though, is pretty straightforward. You can let them know when you're on your way via the site, and when you arrive, you update it with your parking space. We usually only wait a few minutes for our order to come out (and you can tell they're always busy and working hard). They give you a printout showing any substitutions or items they were out of, and you can approve or reject these before the order is final. (However, you don't get to see the prices of regular items; that's all on their handheld device.) You can even give them coupons if you have any. Then they process your order, load the items in the trunk, and you're on your way. To be clear, the problems with the process are mostly with the website and ordering system, not the employees, who are prompt and friendly (despite having to go in and out of the winter weather all day). Overall, curbside pickup is pretty good, and I love not having to go inside a crowded grocery store for an extended period of time. If that means getting bruised tomatoes and green bananas, so be it!

Yelp
Thorough COVID to now, the service industry has declined both in quality service and staffing, leading to less than stellar experiences in grocery stores, sandwich shops, and pharmacies. One place that hasn't wavered on quality service is Freddy Meyer. Every curbside employee is friendly, efficient and quick. Prices are good, you can shop online, and their organic selection is sufficient. Happy to have y'all as my favorite grocery store.

Yelp
Fred Meyer in known for being great store. Always been happy shopping with them. A few months ago I lost my wallet in parking lot. I was frantic because it had large sum on money not to mention credit cards. A few days later I called their lost and found. To my surprise someone turned my wallet in. Also to my surprise everything was still there. Really honest group of employees. Thankful to the entire staff

Yelp
I was waiting to write this review because I hoped they would send a notification to customers regarding the following or a recall or something. Unfortunately, they didn't. I don't know how they are supposed to do things but I was wondering something more transparent because I have always looked at them as my supermarket :) About 6 months ago, I discovered a very nasty long round worm in one of my thin carne asada. I took it there the very next day as soon as I felt better because after that, it took some hours. I tried to be very discreet and talked to the representative, manager, and meat Department. They were super attentive and comprehensive about the situation. They even told me this happened with seafood but not that many with beef. They gave me only a 20 gift card. Not even the medication I had to take as a preventive. I felt the need of letting them know that part of the meat might have been compromised but didn't hear anymore. I just recommend to check your stuff and ask about the procedure because I thought it was fresh but after seeing a little more, some of the seafood is frozen and they take it out when selling. So I wouldn't know if re-frozen it would be a good advice. I still rate it with 4 because of the service, and the stuff offered. But they should try improving this a bit. They also have a good wine variety. They should continue with tastings ;)

Yelp
I pre-ordered their Thanksgiving meal for my family at the beginning of the month, and when I called to ask when I could pick it up today they did not have it. Absolutely inexcusable, your company needs to get itself together.

Yelp
This is my go to grocery when I am in Bellevue. Lots of great produce and regular items. Their meat and seafood counter is really great. The deli counter has A large array of different salads and sandwiches that you can purchase. Great place to stop in for a minute and grab your groceries.

Yelp
Despite it being a Monday afternoon, I have somehow had to wait in line for the better part of half an hour. The line stretched into an adjacent aisle. Even the self checkout lines are super long! This store is extremely understaffed and desperately needs more employees. It's better than Walmart, by a wide margin, but this level of wait is unacceptable. When I was in the electronics department, I needed to get canned air. There was only one person serving the whole department and he was super overworked. Kroger, you need to step up your hiring game, big time! Pay your employees more and give them better working conditions, pronto!
google avatar

Olivia D.

Yelp
Not enough staff is why I'm assuming my visits have been consistently bad. Long lines at self checkout with no checkers on any of their 10 stands at peak grocery shopping hours. One visit I had the self checkout oversee'r bitch at me about how the self checkout was never "self checkout" and had an overall bad attitude- which yes as a worker who's obviously over worked I'd probably be grumpy too but it doesn't help your grumpy guest (me- who has waited in line for 15 minutes to check out at this point) to grumble when I need help with an id check at self checkout because the were no lanes open. Pay better or manage better and keep your employees. By far the worst run Freddie's I've been to, which sucks because it is the closest grocery store to me. I now drive out of my way to go to Safeway so I don't have to deal with this Fred meyer. It's faster to drive further and not deal with the bad lines, slow help, and pissy workers. The employees at the small Starbucks shop inside were nice each time I've stopped there for a quick drink. Have those employees come help the checkout stands! Lastly- I struggled to find any 2T-3T sized boys clothing when I've checked. Seems they have selection of bigger boys (4T+) and baby clothes (12-24mo and under) for boys but a way bigger selection of girls clothing.

Yelp
This is a review for the florist section of Fred Meyer. I stopped by while visiting Bellevue for a wedding. We needed a last minute bouquet and Val from the florist department was more than welcoming and helpful! She saw me looking at the flowers and immediately asked how she could help. She took her time making sure I was satisfied with the way the bouquet turned out. AND it turned out LOVELY! Val is a lifesaver!

Yelp
The produce department needs to do a better job to restock its produce. Leaving pallets of vegetables next to the shelves and scolding customers for taking vegetables directly from the pallets is not too nice. "people may not know better than that!"

Yelp
Best supermarkets sushi&rolls!!! I normally dislike Japanese food from supermarkets. I have tried many sushi&rolls from QFC, Albertsons , and Safeway and never liked them. The rice often dries and sticks together, almost like sticky rice. The taste was always bland. Every time I got them for my kids, they will leave almost everything on the table. The rolls here were very flavorful and the rice was very soft. I love the one with crispy onion on top and the one with avocado and hot sauce. Everything in their freeze look beautiful and fresh. I even like it more than some restaurants like Tokyo, blue C, sushi roll roll roll, and Sushimaru. I usually don't shop here because it's far from my house and I don't need anything particularly from this store. From now on, I will go in there every time I'm in the area just for buying those sushi home. Tip: There is a big seating area and very good soda machine there. Many flavors of Coke Zero.

Yelp
Have always appreciated FM for the variety of items offered. That's been dialed back a bit it recent years, but still my go-to for many needs. The produce section has most everything you need, even to many ethnic-specific items. Just yesterday found some nice fennel bulbs I couldn't find at Safeway or Asian markets. Meat and Seafood departments typically well-stocked, and frequently offer good deals--Just picked up a 2-lb. bag of colossal shrimp for $14! Bakery offers a wide variety of rolls and breads, but I frequently find that stock is low or nonexistent. Specialty cheese section as good as Whole Foods at lower cost. Nice Asian deli area provides ready to eat sushi and noodles,; pizza and sandwich counters look good too, but I've never tried them. A few comments: I frequently find items don't ring up at advertised or posted prices, but are cheerfully rectified at Customer Service. Customer Service is often slow and understaffed for the range of services they provide. Garden area has been dialed back a bit (when in season) from what it was before the remodel; I'd like to see more stock and variety, but I guess I just got spoiled. They used to carry a large variety of Proven Winner plants at good prices, especially several Supertunia and Superbell varieties. Also many more veggie start varieties were offered in years past. All in all a good source for your varied needs, with room for improvement.

Yelp
Never has enough checkers. Quality of product has gone done while prices go up. What happened Fred Meyer? You just did a remodel and it looks like trash in here.

Yelp
Shoe boxes all had 1 shoe in them. Couldn't find anyone to help. Tried the help phone, no answer. Tried asking people in other departments - they phoned to fetch someone, but no one showed up (twice).

Yelp
Whatever shortcomings this store may have- Arlene makes up for it. I don't care if she takes longer, I don't care if there's a long line, My daughter and I will go to her line every chance we get. Arlene is a gem- a light shining- a last of a dying breed- where the service, conversation, care and love is part of the experience. It isn't just a job to Arlene- she makes it an experience. She makes you feel like you matter- and I hope she knows what a joy she is. Today made me think of this as my 3 year old and I eagerly waited to get to the front of her line... behind us as Arlene and I chatted as she scanned and bagged- there were two ladies behind us that looked annoyed that the job was mayyyybe taking 2 extra minutes...they looked irritated and glared. Arlene even tried to break the ice with them and yet still they were Maybe I was raised by small business owners (it's true) or maybe because I'm from a small town (also true)... maybe it's because most people don't care anymore- Arlene, Arlene cares. The world needs more Alene's. Thanks Fred Meyer for Arlene

Yelp
Since its renovation, this has been a great grocer to go to for the area. I've gone to this Fred Meyer before its makeover, and have to say, the difference is like night and day. Before, it was your average Fred Meyer, which always seemed crowded, a little dirty and the lines to check out always seemed slow. Yet, this new one is so much more spacious, open and clean. If this was closer to my residence, I could easily see this as my go-to grocer! How to begin? Well, there's an actual freaking BAR in the grocer now with local drafts on tap! And people actually go there for dranks. Dig it! The deli and prepared foods section is unbelievably better. There's a salad bar, a rotisserie, cheese counter, etc... The natural food section is AWESOME. There are a ton of natural food and organic products I love and am relieved that this Fred Meyer has a solid selection of these kind of items, including peanut butter that you freshly grind yourself! If you don't need groceries, there's the standard departments here that you'll find at other FM locations; however, the layout of this store doesn't at all make you feel cramped. Even if this place is busy - you have so much space to roam around, especially on the opposite side of the store to the groceries. Overall, this is one of the best Fred Meyers I've visited and am glad its not too far from where I am.

Yelp
Great store, wonderful stocking. They always have everything, unlike other stores. We stop many times on the way to work in the early mornings. Since they switched to only five self check-out registers, there seems to be more waiting time in line--kind of defeats the purpose of a quick in & out. We wondered why they cannot use the six self registers. There would be less of a line. Also, we don't know why we are unable to turn off the loud, obnoxious register robots during check-out at any Fred Meyers now, but it is beyond annoying.
