Grocery Workers Union Calls for a Boycott of Local Supermarket Chain Fred Meyer | Eater Portland

"Union members and leaders are calling for a boycott of Fred Meyer after United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 reported that managers at certain Fred Meyer stores have "threatened and harassed" union members, allegedly insinuating they are worthless and easily replaceable; the union canceled contract extensions at the end of August amid stalled contract negotiations and has filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the National Labor Relations Board. Fred Meyer calls those claims a "misrepresentation" and says a boycott would hurt employees and help non-union competitors, and recent photos show the chain advertising for replacement workers in case of a strike." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
