"Operated by the family behind Las Hadas Bar and Grill, this new restaurant aims for a swanky steakhouse vibe with a menu featuring ribeye steak and sides for $39. The happy hour menu offers a variety of items priced at $10 or less, including espresso martinis, lemon drops, coconut shrimp, and pork belly toast." - Candice Woo

Excellent service from Sydney. Food came out fast. Servings were good size and food was pretty good. Cocktails were excellent and ambiance was really nice. Would not hesitate to come back again.

Our hostess/bartender Gabby was the best! Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing! What a way to start my birthday celebration! We’ll be back! Thank you Gabby! 💞😋 Pork chop, garlic mashed potatoes & cheesecake.

Kevin was the man. Great service from him, asked us about our every need and gave great suggestions; knew the menu and cocktails like the back of his hand. Drinks had a great presentation and a good portion compared to other places. The steaks were flavorful and decently sized. We came here on a Wednesday night two days before Valentines and it wasn’t too crowded or loud. The vibe of the place was perfect. Once again, Kevin was extremely welcoming and made our experience better than expected. Thanks man!

Every bite of the food was bursting with rich, exquisite flavors, making each dish a true delight. A dining experience to savor and remember!

Honestly super amazing atmosphere, food, and service. We came here because of the reviews and were not disappointed. Our server Kevin made sure we were taken care of the whole night with an amazing attitude. I think it’s within the top 3 best service we’ve ever had.

Google
Everything about Freddy’s is amazing!!! The food is delicious and is reasonably priced. The ambiance and vibe is 11/10. One of the owners, Alex, made sure we were taken care of and told us all about their restaurant. We got the burrata, steak fries, and pulled pork fries. That was the perfect amount of food and everything was delicious. The espresso martinis are AMAZING!! This is amazing spot and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming to check it out

As a local, Freddy’s Chophouse has become one of my go-to places, usually for drinks, that are always delicious! The bar & ambiance are a vibe and the bartenders are super friendly. This time, I decided to stay for dinner and ordered the skirt steak with fries—and wow, it was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and super juicy. I highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, excellent drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
An amazing experience. Freddys chophouse does an amazing job balancing high-quality ingredients while keeping the menu affordable and fun! The happy hour menu (weekends 12pm-5pm) has a great list of drinks for ten dollars as well as appetizers starting at six dollars. The ambiance of the restaurant as a whole is cozy, with booth seating available. Food regularly comes out at a fast pace, and service is of good quality. In conclusion, I find freddys chophouse to have a welcoming environment with modest pricing and hope to see the restaurant strive within the San Diego community. Here's What We Ordered- Drinks: 1945 Old Fashioned 10/10 (Traditional Old Fashioned) Swiftie 8.7/10 ( Lavender Lemon Drop Martini.) Strawberry Shortcake Espresso Martini 10/10 ( Valentines menu exclusive) Food: Chophouse Bread 7/10 ( Basic but well-priced) Chophouse Steak Fries 9/10 ( Great cuts of steak. Fries are high quality.) 14oz Ribeye 8/10 Jalapeno Bacon Mac & Cheese 10/10 ( Jalapeno is a savory, spiceless addition)

Yelp
Amazing food. Amazing service. Bar staff were prompt, clean, friendly, and the fun part was how they all got along and moved as a team. Watching this whole sitting at the bar prompted a fun convo with the staff who had only been here since October! He was obviously a great hire who can move service while making tasty drinks with a smile. The photo does not do the food justice. Juicy melt in your mouth steak. So good! Was super noisy, but worth. The vibe is comfortable and energetic. Come here for a good time, but even on a weekday there's a wait. Worth it.

Yelp
What's the best way to ruin a perfect steak? Unprofessional service. It's a shame, really--because the food and drinks were absolutely on point. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the cocktails were well-crafted. But don't plan on settling in and enjoying yourself. Unless you're a fast eater with other places to be, you'll be rushed through your meal and practically shoved out the door the moment your plate is cleared. The whole experience felt less like a fine dining evening and more like a timed eating competition. For a place that seems to want to be an upscale steakhouse, their service screams, "Hurry up and leave." It had all the potential to be a go-to spot, but with that kind of treatment, I'll wait and see what opens in six months when people get tired of being herded out like cattle. Disappointing, to say the least.

Yelp
Is there anything this place can do wrong? Service, decor/atmosphere, and food are on-point! This is currently my favorite restaurant in all of San Diego. So far I've had the tomahawk and on a subsequent visit the grilled mahi. Just bravo to food quality and taste. Service was also great. I got here tonight late after my party had already gotten seated. I asked if they could add one more chair and Christine very kindly obliged so I was able to dine in with my group. I want to keep coming back into I try everything. Best to make a reservation and bring a date!

Yelp
As group of adult women, finding ourselves down town, we were looking for a nice place to wrap up our business and eat. We wanted something nice, but relaxed and fun and not over priced. It was 3:30pm, Fleming's was not open yet and we found Freddy's a few blocks over. The parking gods were looking out for us and we found metered parking 2 blocks away. We really enjoyed ALL of their mixed drinks from their HH MENU, but the strawberry mule..... so good. The red wine is a Merlot, but it was better than most HH red wines. The bar service with Celeste was fantastic, without being stuffy. The decor is Instagramable without being annoying and the music participated! Please don't waste your time or money on bars with mediocre fried food or cheap drinks, when there are quality places like Freddy's!

Yelp
Although categorized as a steakhouse, there's this very casual vibe to Freddy's Chophouse and I think most people really come here for the happy hour (daily 3-6PM) or to get some casual drinks. We dined in during the holidays and made a reservation for dinner but we didn't really need one since there were so many open tables. Our food came in courses, which was a good thing since the table we sat at was so tiny. There was no way it would fit everything we ordered if it came all at once. We were also able to order from the happy hour menu so it's not limited to like a certain area of the restaurant or the bar. Pork Belly Toast: This was from the happy hour menu and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. Comes with 4 slices of grilled baguettes, covered in a mix of mushrooms and pork belly. The pesto sauce was kind of heavy but I didn't mind it at all. Wedge Salad: Interesting take on a wedge salad. Normally, I see blue cheese dressing but it tasted like they used thousand island. That threw me off a bit and the entire salad was kind of lacking in bacon and blue cheese. As a salad, it was good but as a wedge salad, I think they missed the mark. Chophouse Steak Fries: This pretty much tasted like elevated carne asada fries. The steak pieces were tender and the fries were very crispy. There's more than enough food and it's probably big enough to share between a party of 4. Out of everything we ordered, this was my favorite. Ribeye: Although I asked for medium rare, the steak came out more on the rare side. I also thought it wasn't salty enough but it was very tender. I think the quality of the steak was good but it could've been prepared better. It's pretty cheap though! Each entree also comes with a side so I picked the Sauteed Burgundy Mushrooms. The serving size was very small and had a strong wine flavor to it. Overall, the meal was pretty cheap considering everything we ordered. The steak is fairly priced but it's not the best I've had. I'm kind of curious about their burgers so I'll be back to try them!

Yelp
Best happy hour I've been to for American food! Portions were huge and worth $10! Happy hour is Saturday and Sunday from 12-5, and weekdays it is 3-6. The kind man working the bar and serving us today on 1/25/25 from 12:30-2:00 was so professional and attentive. He informed us of how this is a new restaurant as of June 2024. He was a tremendous worker and deserves a managerial position if he is not already. This place deserves some recognition! Drinks were strong, but for $10 so worth it. I would come here consistently if I lived in Downtown. Only negative is of course finding parking since it is limited street parking. The food was all chef kiss. The only flaw was that the buffalo strips were a little dry inside and could've used more buffalo taste and this was maybe a 7/10? The order of all the food in order of highly recommend would be the sliders, popcorn shrimp, coconut shrimp, pork belly toast, and burrata. However, all food would be a 9/10 if not a 10/10! I for sure am going to come back to try the BBQ ribs and the jalapeño bacon Mac n cheese. The inside is so nice and clean. It does not feel like a dirty restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. The women's bathroom has two stalls with one stall being fairly tiny. The music was poppin, it was a great selection of 90's music and some R&B. I would recommend coming after a convention center event or even a padres game. The man serving us mentioned parties of up to 15 to even 35 that is doable Mon-Thurs ideally because this can take up the back of the restaurant area. Check out Freddy's!

Yelp
Freddy's Chop House in San Diego is a must-visit! We were in town combining a work trip with some family time, and my brother suggested we check it out. Let me just say - great recommendation! From the moment we walked in, everything was fantastic. Even though we arrived earlier than our reservation, the staff was super accommodating and got us seated right away. Loved the vibes! Our server, Alex, was amazing! He answered all of our questions about the menu, drinks, and happy hour options. He even gave us some great recommendations, and boy, did he deliver! The coconut shrimp was hands-down the star of the show, but our entrées were also absolutely delicious! The food, drinks, and overall experience were all top-notch. If you're in San Diego and looking for an unforgettable dinner spot, Freddy's Chop House is the place to be!

Yelp
Happy Hour review. Friendly service, decent choices. Pork belly toast was fine but a better idea, more Pork belly or crisp them up and place on top. $10 cocktails, plenty of choices. Eating at the bar at HH is comfortable. Pretty busy during the Monday visit because of a concert downtown at Petco Park. I would try them again in the future for dinner. Parking is still a hassle downtown Gaslamp. So I would check first if there is anything major going on at Petco Park or sorrounding areas. Definitely avoid Gaslamp during the major drinking celebrations. Will be back though in 2025.

Yelp
We celebrated Valentine's Day with lunch @ where they decked the restaurant with lots of hearts, flowers, rose petals, and balloons giving you all the feels on a day all about love . The music was a total vibe bringing me back to my high school prom with jams from Chiny and Bobby Valentino to Usher - you just can't go wrong, even our 2.5 year old was even jamming out. The service was impeccable with with no details spated, including welcoming us by giving our daughter a rose clip for her hair. The drinks were also top notch, from classics like their famous 1945 Old Fashioned, to the Swiftie made with lavender and pea flower (probably one of the best sweeter drinks I've ever had). Now, on to their food. They offer steakhouse prime cuts of meat at half the cost of a steakhouse and they totally brought the flavor! The Chophouse burger was perfectly cooked (med-rare) served with a buttery brioche bun, melted White American, and some pretty darn tasty fries. We Ordered: Swiftie - Lavender Lemon Drop 10/10 Half Rack Ribs with mashed potatoes 9/10 Chophouse burger w/fries 9/10 Buffalo strips w/fries - no Buffalo sauce (kids order) 10/10 Honey Bee - Bourbon cocktail 8/10

Yelp
It might be because of valentines day but as soon as you come in the lights are set to a nice pink and it sets the vibe. Francisco our bartender is a chill guy and made our drinks just right. So much so I ended up ordering two Manhattans. The Adobo wings were delicious and hit the spot. While the all star game was playing it was a nice time! 8/10 would recommend and would come back

Yelp
I stopped by to get the Chophouse Chicken to go tonight 12/5/24. I was amazed to find what is there where the Irish bar stood for many years. The entree was veey flavorful and fresh, but I think it could be better if they also cut the chicken up into bite sized pieces since the mushrooms and pork belly bacon already are chopped. I chose the loaded baked potato as my side and it came accompanied with a ton of butter, sour cream, bacon, and chives on the side. Delicious. While waiting for the food, we noticed the very cool atmosphere for a restaurant! The old school 9ps/2000s music is awesome, like you are in a club, but not overly loud so you can still have a conversation at your table. This is geared for 35-55 year old, I feel? I certainly felt excited about it at 45 years old! FYI: kids and babies are allowed even though it feels like a club inside. One about 3 years old was running unattended and yelling through the restaurant for a whole minute while we were there. If this is the normal, I wouldn't come here, but if that was an unusual event, I'd definitely bring my friends here for the cool vibes, good food, pretty atmosphere, and reasonable prices. We will give it a shot and time will tell...

Franny Z.

Yelp
Bobby, the manager, and Tyler, our server were exceptional. Bobby made it so easy from the day I called to ask about making reservations for my big group for my 30th. There were around 15 of us for dinner. The night was perfect. He introduced me to a smooth tequila, fortaleza, I believe. My food and drinks were delicious. Thank you for starting my birthday weekend off strong. I would definitely return if I can, especially with a big group again. So easy and very memorable! I felt loved.

Davida G.

Yelp
Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, great service, with absolute fair prices. This establishment understands and obviously stands behind the idea of quality food for an affordable cost to ensure an around A+ dining experience.

Yelp
Freddy Chop House was the perfect spot for our bro date - because, let's be honest, nothing says friendship like multiple appetizers and some well-made cocktails. I picked this place because I'd heard the happy hour was legendary, and let me tell you... it lived up to the hype. Between me and my buddy, we spent about $80 on five appetizers and two cocktails each, so you can imagine the pure joy on our faces (and the food coma that followed). The service? Top-notch. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and made sure our table was constantly stocked with all things fried, cheesy, and delicious. Speaking of which - the mac and cheese here? *Lord have mercy.* Creamy, cheesy, and the stuff dreams are made of. If they'd let me order it by the bucket, I would have. I thought I took a pic of it but I didn't :( but trust me and get it! As for cocktails, don't even think about leaving without trying the espresso martini. I'm convinced it could wake up a hibernating bear, not to mention make you feel like a fancy James Bond villain. If you haven't tried it, you're seriously missing out. So if you're looking for a place to kick back with great food, epic happy hour deals, and some top-tier bro bonding, Freddy Chop House is where it's at!

Yelp
Wow! Best meal I've had in a long time! And the staff was amazing. Gabby took such good care of us. She was so attentive, kind and wonderful. We don't live close to here but I would drive back just to have another wonderful evening like this.

Nicole S.

Yelp
I almost never give a 5 star review. It seems restaurants now are always missing something.... But not Freddy's!! It did not disappoint! Arrived at 6:12 for our 6:15 reservation and we were seated within minutes. Less than five minutes we had glasses of water. I liked that the host knew the menu and the specials so she educated us before the server even greeted us. Our server was also very friendly, I believe his name was Chris. The owner also came to the table to rank us for visiting and shared a little history on the joint. We ordered: Burrata -it was great Pork belly toast- OMG YOU HAVE TO TRY this! Jalapeño Mac and cheese- probably my favorite dish The cowboy burger- good but not my favorite The flank steak with chimichurri 7/10, the sauce was more like a pico which we didn't prefer We each had 2 expresso martinis and they were excellent!! The total for all Of this before tip was $167. You won't find better quality goods, better service or a funner vibe for that price anywhere else! Note- it has a "clubby" feel/vibe and is pretty loud and a bit dark. I would come here for any kind of romantic date. Enjoy!

Lindsay N.

Yelp
We chose Freddy's for my birthday dinner and had a great experience. Our server, Mac, lived up to all her great reviews, and I was excited to have her take care of us. We had excellent service throughout our entire visit, from being immediately greeted upon arrival to the very end of our meal. Coconut Shrimp ($10 HH): These were delicious, and I appreciated that they used large shrimp! It was refreshing to see they didn't skimp with smaller ones, even during HH! Swiftie ($10 HH, Lavender Lemon Drop): It's a really cute drink, and while it didn't taste too strong at first, you definitely feel it after a few! It is very aesthetic, I definitely recommend trying it, especially if you love lemon drops! Grilled Mahi Mahi ($24): A great healthier option! We thought the green beans could have used a bit more seasoning, but overall, it was a solid dish. We appreciated that it didn't have a fishy taste. Ribeye ($39): A yummy steak and cooked as requested. I ordered garlic mash on the side ($5), and thought they could have served a bit more, but other than that, it was another great dish! I accidentally spilled my drink trying to scoot it over and Mac quickly had them make me other. Their customer service is top-notch, and the meals are reasonably priced. They have great happy hour deals, and we'll definitely be back for that!

Navynick N.

Yelp
I have been going to Las HADAS for years (literally my favorite tacos in Gaslamp). When they told me of their extension of Freddy's, we had to try it out. Wow, wow , wow, not one meal has disappointed, with lots of healthy options that are affordable as well. Can we speak on how beautiful this place is You can't decide where to get a photo, because every spot makes a great background. Salmon, Steak, Pasta, the sides; literally everything is perfect; YOU CANNOT GO WRONG‼ Thanks Bobby & Alan; beautiful addition.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Came in without a reservation at 6pm on a Friday and had the option of outdoor or bar seating. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the game on tv and Jordan treated us so well! Drinks: I got the Swiftie, which was a lavender lemon drop that was not too sweet and beautifully presented. Food: we started with the burrata (Haply Hour priced) and it was delicious. A large portion of creamy burrata, with pesto, balsamic, tomatoes and greens and perfectly toasted bread. I got the filet skewers with a loaded baked potato for my entree and my husband got loaded chophouse fries. I was impressed when Jordan asked how I'd like my skewers cooked and they were so tender, juicy, perfectly medium rare, as asked, and well seasoned. The loaded baked potato was great as well. The French fries are nice and crispy, just how I like them. My husband enjoyed the loaded fries, although the ratio of fries to toppings was slightly off, as he had a good amount of fries left without toppings. Otherwise, I really have no complaints about the food and would definitely come back to try other things. Everything was very reasonably priced as well, even non-happy hour prices.

Monica P.

Yelp
My new favorite restaurant! So impressed! Seriously delicious food and superb service! We will be back! I have already purchased 3 gift cards for this restaurant since it's that good! Great happy hour items! Get the espresso martini best in town! Get the pesto cream mushroom and pork belly toast to share. It is phenomenal if you are a mushroom lover like me! We both got the 14oz Ribeye. It was cooked to perfection. The burgundy mushrooms were so darn succulent and tasted like the burgundy wine and French onion soup had a baby! So delicious! We had the jalapeño Mac n cheese and it was tasty I wish it had a bit more of a spicy kick. We ate the pesto burrata salad with balsamic and baby tomatoes, I could eat that every day! We had a love date night! Looked like a beautiful crowd of fun people. The gentleman who sat us was so friendly, and professional and adorable big tall good looking man. Our server was on top of it! I don't think I have had this great of service in a long time! I forgot her name she was so cute petite dark long hair Asian server. She was awesome and everything came out quickly and she refilled our drinks often which is how we like it! I did ask for a salt shaker but I like my steak extra salted. She brought it out fast so my food did not get cold. The restaurant is beautiful. It did have a couple of TV's with the game on which my husband loved. They had a big booth on the upper level for a party of 10-12 which was cute. We will be back! Limited parking that is metered outside you may need to park in a structure nearby. Worth the walk!

Melanie P.

Yelp
My friend kept telling about this new place in Downtown and how affordable and great it is! This place inhabits the space known formerly known as Santa Gula and it is owned by the same owner as Las Hadas, which is next door. I love the cozy, dark, and modern decor. Staff is super amazing and friendly. Recs: Swiftie - Loved the Tay nod with this Lavender hazy drink. This drink was light and refreshing! Filet Skewers- Seared to perfection, juicy and delicious. These skewers came in generous portion sizes with a flavorful white rice. This can be shared with 2 people. I also tried the salmon which was also good! I need to go back to try the Happy Hour as I'm always on the prowl for amazing happy hours at a reasonable price point. I did make reservations just to make sure I had a seat but they had plenty of seating on a weekend for dinner.

Tina L.

Yelp
Freddy's is the perfect place to take the family for a nice dinner, or a date. The food is phenomenal and very reasonably priced! Service is stellar. The owner, Alan himself checked on us and served us water. We had the New Year's special which was $150 for a surf and turf meal for 2, including bread, salad, champagne, & dessert. The chophouse bread is so good. The tomahawk and lobster were cooked to perfection, and mashed potatoes deliciously creamy. Fun vibes with lots of decor and they even handed out new years props! We'll definitely be back.

Becky P.

Yelp
Thoroughly impressed! Alan took us in without a reservation!! Celeste was our server. This was earlier tonight - New Year Eve around 7:30pm. Alan was kindly expressing he would do his best to find us a table without a res. He just gave very good vibes of trying to try to take care of us but he also wanted to set realistic expectations so we aren't disappointed if he could not given the holiday. He did all this with his professionalism and body language! Food was super good and it just feels like a very neat curated system they have pat down with the wait service and super attentive staff. Everyone seemed really happy to be working there and that doesn't happen by accident. Only compliant we have is the high 2 top we had was a bit shaky and next time we will make res for a lower table with a booth seat. We will be back!!

Marci T.

Yelp
We visited Freddy's Chop House and were seated immediately, which was a great start to our evening. They have a happy hour that runs from open until 6:00 p.m., though we noticed that the last call for happy hour was around 5:15, so be mindful of that. We ordered the rolls (I regret not snapping a picture because they were amazing!) and the Buffalo Strips, which were also delicious. For the main course, I had the Filet Skewers, which were cooked to absolute perfection, and my friends ordered a sandwich and a burger. All the meats were juicy and perfectly cooked, and everything came out in a timely manner. Our server was incredibly sweet, which added to the overall great experience. We will definitely be back!

Randall B.

Yelp
Dinner was lovely. The server was great. The coconut shrimp amazing. There were three of us. Two ordered the sirloin and I had the ribeye. Both sirloin were reported as great. My ribeye was ok. Had some grissle and more fat than anticipated but is was soft to cut and tasted ok but there was steak that could not be eaten. The mashed potatoes are crazy good and the corn was superb. Atmos is a delight. It's built into an old Irish pub and it still has a nice pub vibe. It's a nice place, not fancy, but really pleasant. A good place to eat and enjoy some time.

erica b.

Yelp
I have been here twice and can I just say this is my new favorite steakhouse!! The food is delicious, the prices are great, and the service is outstanding! The drinks are the bomb as well. Sydney is ROCKSTAR!! I highly recommend this place I will be back!

Kenny G.

Yelp
Leaving a review to comment on how excellent Freddy's Chophouse was during my time in San Diego! Everything from the food, to service, and overall vibe/ambiance was 10/10. I had an 8oz filet which was perfectly cooked & an amazing cocktail to accompany my meal. The bartender Gabby was very hospitable and attentive to all her her guests- she also gave me great recommendations for drinks and made me easily what I would call one of the best drinks I've had in a while (spicy guava mezcal marg). Thank you Freddy's for a great time and would definitely recommend you check this place out when in SD!!

Yelp
Great food and casual atmosphere makes for a delicious Saturday day date in Gaslamp Quarter

Kerry W.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time, the atmosphere was amazing and the appetizer's were delicious. We ordered the burrata which was creamy and flavorful with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and pesto. The espresso martini was perfect. The bacon jalapeño mac & cheese was our favorite, the smoky bacon with the spicy jalapeño and so much creamy cheese. You will definitely have to try this one. Now my husband always loves hot wings so we had to try them here. I must say, they were very good and the ranch dressing was tasty. We will have to come back for dinner.

Venus A.

Yelp
Our first time here. Friday around 6 pm very friendly bartender, Jordan and she served us right away. Took our food order and was also very attentive to our order. She was wonderful. As for the food - it was not bad. More below on the food we had. The drinks were good - we had an old fashioned. The wine selection is fine. Loved the decor. The price point at Freddy's Chophouse is a good one for downtown San Diego. The food isn't horrible but does not command high end prices. The pork belly was salty, the Caesar salad had too much dressing and the lettuce was warm, and the prime rib was over cooked. But all edible. This is a good place to grab drinks and ok food. I would not consider this a steakhouse for fine dining if that is what you're looking for.

Briseida B.

Yelp
Freddys chophouse made me feel at home with its friendly service from Our waiter Tyler. He was sweet, and friendly. My dinner was delicious, unfortunately I don't remember the name of my dish but it was fish (not salmon). All of my friends and myself complained about how strong the drinks tasted we couldn't finish them, but can't complain about the esthetic the drink was beautiful (swifty). The music playing was fun over all I enjoyed my time there.

Yelp
The vibes inside were very nice, it was giving modern day great gatsby. From the moment we walked in we were attended too in a fast manner, as well as with a positive attitude. The food was delicious and plated beautifully. They brought my friend a complementary cheesecake for her birthday and the candle was a nice touch. 10/10 would go again!

Yelp
Freddy's is phenomenal! First off, the decor is beautiful, very nicely decorated. The music is perfect, creates the perfect vibe! The staff is great, Mac was our server and she was the perfect example of great customer service. Personable and gave solid recommendations. Also, had a great sense of humor. Let's talk about the food, I had the salmon. I saw the price and thought "is this happy hour?" It wasn't. That's their normal pricing! Best deal you'll get in San Diego. The salmon was great! Amazing flavor! It comes with a side of rice but I subbed for green beans. I would 100% get it again. Our bill total blew me away. It was like reverse sticker shock. It's nice to not get price gouged. The food is solid and the pricing is amazing. I will 100% be back and bring everyone I can. Request Mac's section.

Yelp
Living downtown, we've walked by this place hundreds of times. Maybe I should stop right here so we can keep this hidden gem our own little secret... Great ambiance, delicious food, and very reasonable prices - Happy Hour, or not. I think we've found our go-to spot for celebratory meals!

Yelp
Came in for a quick bite for happy hour during a conference. The place used to be a speakeasy and it has a very cool retro kind of ambiance. Check out the hallway leading to the bathrooms! Service was prompt and my waitress was very friendly and attentive. I came around 5 PM and there was plenty of seating. Decided to try the - Strawberry Mule cocktail: a bit too sweet for my taste but overall good flavor combination - Pork Belly Toast: this is SO delicious! Please do yourself rhetorical favor and grab it. A bit salty but paired with the purple coleslaw that came with it, was phenomenal. - and Coconut Shrimp: the shrimp was huge and the outside had a love crunch to them. Dipping sauce was tasty and paired with the toast was a great combination.

Yelp
Solid 4.5 star happy hour! Great decor and ambiance. Service was friendly and prompt. The happy hour menu is great! Some items are regular priced (salad and chophouse bread), but some have a solid $3-5 discount. The summer salad was delicious and fresh though maybe a touch more dressing that I prefer. The pork belly bread was mainly mushrooms, but I didn't mind because I love mushrooms. The best thing was the coconut shrimp for sure. The plate came with 6 massive prawns. What a steal! We'll be back.

Yelp
After my first bite of food, I immediately knew that this place was a sister restaurant to Las Hadas which happens to be my fave upscale taco spot in all of SD! The service was impeccable from start to finish where you can tell the staff enjoy working there! I recognized a few faces from Las Hadas as well! For appetizers, I got the pork belly toast which was so rich and flavorful with large chunks of pork bacon over what was a fluffy garlic toast. Definitely a heavier dish that packs a punch! A must order! As for the skirt steak, every single bite was juicy and tender through and through. I didn't get any hints of overcooked or dryness at all. Flavors were on point!! As for drinks I got the Swiftie which was pretty much a lavender lemon drop and it was refreshing and not too sweet! Found my new fave steakhouse that's affordable in SD!

Yelp
What a fun vibe! We loved the decor of the restaurant. Music was millennial hip hop which was right up our alley. All the servers were fun and so helpful with suggestions. Our glasses were never empty. We got the Chophouse bread appetizer - life changing. Sticky soft Hawaiian rolls with a really delicious glaze that included mikes hot honey. My dinner was the Chophouse chicken and a loaded baked potato. I really loved the potato and the mushrooms with the chicken. The texture of my chicken was a bit odd. Nothing too bas, just not as juicy as I like. All in all, a nice place with decent prices.

Yelp
Obsessed. New favorite spot in San Diego. Let's start with the amazingly warm welcome we got from the owner. Just great hospitality all around. It was also cool to hear that Freddy's is family run and named after the father. The drinks are delicious - tried the mandarin cosmo, espresso martini and strawberry mule - all very well crafted and fresh, these are not your cheap ingredient cocktails despite being $10 on happy hour. The burrata was so insanely good! Delicious salty slices of bread with a plate full of perfect burrata, tomatoes and glaze that you will literally want to lick clean. We came here for happy hour before the Padres game and I kid you not we came back after the game for a second plate of burrata. Highly recommend Freddy's, can't wait to try more of their menu next time!

Yelp
**Look no further, this is your next date night!!** Freddys is everything restaurants are lacking. Flavor, ambiance, and price melt perfectly together here. First the service is top tier. We were seated right away, and the manager decided to move us to the elevated section with a great view of the restaurant, and a good wide window to people watch. Music was modern and set the perfect vibe. We started with the happy hour menu since we walked in at 5:50. We had the following: -Chophouse bread: warm fresh, covered in butter and a sugar or honey addition. Delicious!! -The Burrata Salad- Must have!! Fresh tomato's, mozzarella, basil and other flavors combine to the most flavorful salad. -Pork Belly Toast- delicious balance of bread, mushroom, and pork belly. Delicious!! Main course: The skirt steak was cooked perfectly (recommend medium because of the cut). With ChimiChuri.... Delicious!!! The Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Medium rare and came out with the perfect grilled crust, cooked to perfection! Had the sautéed Mushrooms. All flavors combined perfectly!! Pair both steaks with the house Red. You won't regret it. Mickeala took care of us, 100 to her service!! Recommend

Yelp
Just had dinner and the food was so good and the prices are great!!! They play all the jams which makes the vibe even better in here. Very friendly staff and attentive! Had Alex as our server and checked on us plenty of times but not where it was overly done. I'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
I was a little disappointed by the food and could not understand the 4.9 star rating. I came to Freddy's Chophouse based on the Yelp reviews and I was not at all happy with the food. I ordered the sliders and they were over seasoned and too salty to finish even half a burger. When my server asked how the food was I told him about the sliders and he apologized that I did not like them and simply walked away! He did not offer to replace it with something else nor did he remove it from the check! My son had the sirloin steak and said it was OK and that he made better sirloins at home. Long story short, we were a total of 10 people and everyone had the same response, their meal was just MEH! The best thing on the table was the rib appetizer! Not worth the money we paid for the meal based on taste. Will never come here again!

Yelp
This was a recommended place and it did not a disappoint. I have to start with the two appetizers which I have stopped dreaming about. The burrata is the best I've had, packed with flavors! The pork belly toast is to die for. Every flavor was something you just wanted to marinate in. I ended up having a bacon cheeseburger and it was good but nothing compared to those appetizers. The drinks were fantastic, and because there was five of us, it came out on a drink tree, which made it kind of a fun experience. One of the owners who actually owns the Mexican place next-door was wonderful. Our waitress was really sweet, but a little dingy and kept forgetting things. Those appetizers made up for every imperfect moment but overall, this was a fantastic place and a great experience.
